"Speed up, Hiccup!"

"Show 'em what yer can!"

"Shoot 'er yer sheepshead lizard!"

This is Berk.

Loudly crowd was circled around big area, sounds of striking chains were hearable because of Vikings heavily jerking them. There were laughing, screaming and yelling all over place. Vikings of different ages, young ones, older ones, even elders. Every of them looked at situation happening before theirs eyes in area.

"Why it is takin' so lon'! Just do somethin'!"

Place I call my home, at least I wish I could so.

Inside of it running was young woman, brown haired in braid, with woollen green shirt with long selves and brown leather corset, separated brown woollen skirt under which was black pants with brown boots. Hers posture was skinny, and hers height was short one. In her hands was one sword in another one colourful, wooden shield.

"Hey! I'm tryin', okay?" She yelled at crowd with annoyed expression.

Place of cold, misery, pain...

She saw yet again hers attacker and started running in opposite direction from them. There was roar and in hers direction went few spikes, impacting her into stone wall. They thrust into hers cloth making it harder for hers to get out of hers situation. She could only wimble in place scared for hers life, doing a head dodge from fire strike.

...and of course, dragons.

Before hers stood rather big dragon, blue one with spikes on its head and tail. It's body much reminding a bird one. She free herself for deadly spikes to yet again start running for dear life. Dragons seems to not be amazed at all as it once more shoot spikes just to hit them into hers shield for hers lucky.

"Stop runnin', attack already!" Yelled loudly male voice.

"It's so easy to yer to say so! AGH!" She yelled back as another shot aimed her.

My name is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. Great name, isn't it? It could been worse. Like Snotlout, or Fishlegs, so I shouldn't complain. Even when my name meanin' is the most useless, the weakest in flock, the worst one. Or maybe I should? My parents had good guess in it, at least that's what everyone sayin' about me.

"Hiccup, focus already!" Yelled another male, but much deeper voice at which she only nodded slightly.

That's Stoic the Vast. Chief of ours village, strongest person I even had meet, my father. Rumours says that once he with bare hands killed almost 'hole flock. Do I believe it? Aye I do.

Man was definitely a tall one, rather fat, but same way muscular. He had red bread with some gray hair in it, which was braided. On his head was Viking helmet with big horns. Biggest from any other to show his dominance from them. He wasn't enjoyer of situation Hiccup find herself into, but he wasn't scared of hers life either. Much rather he had just much disappointed look.

"Calm down stoic, she is gettin' better every day! Last year she couldn't even held tha' sword!" Acknowledged without leg and arm man just next to him.

"I don't know what to do anymore." He looked at ring. Hiccup still tried to run away, but decided to attack a bit.

"Yer prejudge, give 'er chance, lad might surprise yer." He reassured him, placing arm at another's back.

"Gobber, it was almost 5 years, since lad joined trainin', she never killed one dragon. I don't think Hiccup is bad, there is difference from 'at 5 years ago, but-"

"Ahh, yer see?! Yer know, what lad needs?"

"What?"

"A fathers support! What else?" He laughed.

Stoic could only smile, but it was for sure not convinced smile. Hiccup from starting trainings really get better, she is faster, smarter, she could use hers enemies weakness. Unfortunately there was one thing which never changed, she was scared, scared to attack, scared to hurt, scared to kill. Ehh... just like hers mother.

Sound of cheers get to Stoic and he noticed his girl done it, she attack, she used ropes, trip the monster. It was now laying almost motionless at stone floor, probably because of force with which that fall on it. He couldn't remember when he last time was that proud of her, but he could only smile and laugh loudly. Hiccup stood nervously over dragon, sword hold tightly in hers hands, just above it's head. Everyone started to shout.

"Kill monster!"

"Dragons death!"

"Just in scull!"

Crowd saw Hiccup, shakily, even for theirs shouts, not sure about hers doings. She looked at dragon, it looked, rather scared, maybe tired, at her. Both eye to eye, like they had a mind conversation. Hiccup's hands started to shake, what should she do? She didn't wanted to kill, she didn't wanted to let hers father down. Is there another option?

"Oh, no. Not again..." Stoic whispered to himself. "Hiccup, kill it right now!" He screamed at top of his lungs.

She closed hers eyes, for her it didn't helped, not at all. She tighten hold on sword, got ready to hit, only to put sword down. She couldn't to that. She just couldn't. Dragon in one second used that, get out of ropes just to continue of it's chase after this little girl. Whole crowd only signed at this, part of it laughed, really hard.

"As always..." Stoic whispered. "Get her out! End of that training." Stoic commanded and left of theirs sight.

After getting her out and getting dragon into it's cage, only thing she could do now is going to hers house for hers father common lecture of his disappointment towards her. Between hers way she now only had to last few mean comments. As she thought, just common Berk.

Hiccup found herself in hers home, close to fireplace, next to cooking pot with fish soup in it, just in front of hers father. His look said her everything, dissatisfaction, disappointment, anger, maybe furious. While sharping his axe in his hands he looked straight at her, sitting on his big chair. She could just sit there nervously, avoiding his look, playing with hers fingers. Both knew someone will have to start that conversation, which Hiccup preferred not to consider.

"Dad, I-" Hiccup started quietly just to be interrupted by raged father.

"Why can't yer do somethin' to make me proud. Do I ask for too much?!"

"-'m sorry" She continued.

"Really? Yer are? Because I'm startin' to think 'I'm sorry' it's my name, yer sayin' it that often."

"I really do, it's just..."

"It's what, Hiccup? Yer can't kill it? Yer scared? Yer coward?!" Stoic acknowledged harshly, his eyes barely visible from his brows, scowl as never.

She only looked down, slowly nodded and could feel embarrassed for herself. Stoic didn't wanted to make her feel bad for herself, he knew for viking girl she was brilliant. Hers inventions helped village not a once, still not one from them helped them with dragon killing. When she was younger many of that inventions were dragon killing. She used them rather dangerously, because of which many accidents happened, but now when she improved hers skills she just stopped making them, only now making life-helping ones.

"And say me what to do with yer..." Stoic asked, turned his eyes from her and shook his head.

"Maybe, I don't know, maybe it would be better if I was off trainin'?" She asked nervously

Stoic looked at her with winded eyes. "Off trainin'? But you have to learn how to fight! Like our ancestors! What are you goin' to do with yer life other than fighin'!"

"Well, there is much people which doesn't have to kill dragons, like baker! Or maybe-"

"It's not funny, Hiccup! Even oor bakers fightin' dragons already!" He yelled at her because of hers 'not suiting with him' ideas. "It's about yers future, about future of Berk!"

She rolled eyes. "Oor future doesn't need me" She acknowledged.

"Of course it do" He acknowledged calmly with sigh "Ye're almost 20. Little of time and yer will become woman in enough age to become chief! How can I gave yer chiefdom when ye're" He pointed at her "like this"

"Ye're just pointed all of me." She acknowledged "as always anyway" whispered to herself.

He stood "Yer need to understand that what yer doin' ruinin' yer future! Yer will give me no choice, than force yer into marriage."

She focused. Marriage? "Wait, yer want to force me?! Yer can't do that to me!"

"Yes, I can! I'm chief! Besides, it's traditional! Every father is pickin' his daughter husband! Even so, he would make a future chief! That's makin' instantly it my choice."

"Dad, yer can't be serious. Force marriage? But, I was thinkin' yer with mother married each other out of love! Why can't I?!" She yelled, devastated for hers own fathers words.

"Yer mother was lucky. We fell in love, and then we find out that oor families wanted to connect with each other. That's why we got married. Yer won't have that luck, or maybe would if you could just propose me one person which yer are in love. Maybe oor families would like to-" He asked with bit of hope.

"No I don't." She answered, rather sadly. He immediately lost any hope.

"Yer see, that's why I have to-"

"Yer can't do that! Yer goin' to get me WORST man yer can!"

"I'm not that bad, Hiccup. I know what's good for yer."

"Yes? Oh, so I guess I will marry Thuggory, the most aggressive male I ever meet? Or maybe Dagur? Great choose huh? He thrown daggers at me! Oh or better one, maybe Albreht have son, yer know, didn't you wanted strengthen yers alliance after years of war?!"

She stood to look straight in hers, now madly angry, father eyes. Height difference obligated her to tip toe, but It didn't made her looking less raged. Both of them wanted to get dominance over one another. Stoic didn't flinched, neither Hiccup, both knew whoever would first broke eye contact, would lose. Not one of them even consider losing.

Stoic hated that. Hated that his girl is going to be forced in that. Maybe he didn't showed it much, but he loved her. She was his little girl he used to learn how to talk, girl he showed how to walk. Now, she was his enemy? He didn't wanted it, but he had to. He was between rock and hard place. He didn't had choice. He couldn't let her chief place, she wouldn't deal with it. He had to choose her male, there has to be strong leader in clan. There wasn't anything else to do. Or maybe...

"Let's do it like that..." Stoic started much surprising Hiccup.

"For yers birthday last about 4 moon cycles. That's is time in which yer can change yers achievements inside area, and then, ONLY THEN I will let you choose." He explained.

"Yer mean, marriage?" She asked.

"Everything."

She couldn't believe hers ears. Second ago, she was almost ready to hers lost, now that chance? But is it possible for her to change? All of them thinks she is scared, yes she is, but not for reasons they find truth. Even so, she has to try, she has to give it shot.

"Okay, deal."

Immediately after that Gobber went inside. "Hiccup! Yer promised..." he noticed situation he got himself into, scared for his life and his friend axe in his hands. "Do I bothered?"

"No, we just ended." He answered, pushing Hiccup in Gobber's direction. "And remember Hiccup." She turned to him. "One chance. No more..." With that Hiccup thought and left with Gobber.

After while, Hiccup and Gobber were already in his workshop. Both working hardest they could making sword, axes and much more. Even so hers father gave her possibility for her to fight for herself she didn't was happy about it. Inside her were fighting. She knew she couldn't kill dragon, it was something which she find about years ago, and as time went not only she couldn't but now it would be against hers nature.

Dawn. Almost morning. In air was visible fog. Hers heart beat only faster and faster. But could anyone not be excited? She finally did it! She shot down night fury! Dragon as harmful and dangerous as black it is. Nobody never even saw night fury, it's existence was the biggest mystery that happened in village. 'The unholy offspring of lighting and death itself' says Berk dragons book. She had to catch it. She had to be first to kill it. Only then, hers father would be proud.

The deeper she went in forest the more shaky hers motions seems to her to be. But, it's nothing wrong, right? Everyone would be nervous at theirs first kill, even so, it's NIGHT thorsblood FURY! Anyone would be shaky, even hers father. In hers journal she hold in hand, she had drawn map of whole forest with calculations where it had to fall. Right now at map already was something like dozen of 'X'.

When she saw sun almost visible from tress, she started to give up. What happened with dragon? Did it run away? Get out of ropes? But that was impossible! She took care of it. It has to be somewhere, has to be! Hers only chance for village approbate.

She was ready to give up when from frustration she punched branch, it hit her back, but also helped her see fallen tree just before hers eyes. She went forward and noticed trace at ground, maybe if she would follow it, maybe, just maybe, she would find... She looked behind rock before her just to hide herself in less than second after. DRAGON!

She slowly went towards it. It was real. She, she did it. She shot night fury! Dragon was whole black, 2 big black wings at it's back. Hers ropes keeping them down. Motionless whole body was laying at ground. Looking at it, seems it was all alright, wings, tail, everything at it's place. She wanted to drawn it, but took notice she would have much time for it later. She really did it!

She took hers knife out, silent went to it, she knew any loud sound would wake monster. She sat up by it and only then she noticed it looking directly at her. She froze. Remember Night fury : great sense of hearing. Big green eye looked at her, like it was analysing her. There was something else she noticed. Did it fear her? No, that's impossible, dragons are monsters only caring about killing, it would even die just to kill, for sure.

There were something else too, which she couldn't explain at all, is that was understanding? No, no way. Why would... But it's... it's monster. Killing machine! Neither she just focused on it. She didn't even noticed as she hold knife down. Both of them were just scared, she felt it life same way she did, it's hard to explain. She just did. She looked at it, and saw herself...

Gods, that's going to be my worst decision. She cutting ropes. What I'm doing? What I'm doing? I'm crazy! It will attack for sure! But, I can't leave it here. Loki what are doing with my body now?! Literally second after she cut last rope, dragon throw itself at her.

It's claw just under hers neck, holding her by hers shirt. She tried to move, but she find out she couldn't. She was frozen from fear. Only thing she thought about was what would were last words about her? Died because cowbrain let out most dangerous dragon? Died like sheephead she is? Died because of chicken actions?!

It opened mouth, it was it. At least she would see hers mother. She closed eyes, waiting for dear life but for hers surprise only thing she heard was mighty roar and lack of weight at hers chest. She opened eyes just to see emptiness. Dragon left her, let her go, just like she did to it. She stood, went towards home, just to faint into darkness.

Hiccup could only now painfully remind herself that memory. Oh how she regret not killing that dragon. It was worst decision in hers life. How couldn't she not kill it. Only good information about that situation was that afterwards she never saw night fury in hers life again.

"I think that's sword doesn't need sharpin' anymore Hiccup." Gobber get her out of hers thoughts as she noticed she sword she was sharping was now 3 inches shorter.

"I'm sorry, Gobber. I got lost in thoughts." She explained embarrassed.

"Aye, I took notice of that. Do yer want do talk aboot somethin' with old Gobber?" He asked. "Maybe, about conversation yer had with yers father?"

"Maybe, I don't know, lately I have much on head."

"I know, that whole situation with trainin', is that so." He asked.

"Aye..." she answered even if it was lie.

"Yer should just accept yerself as yer is. Yer complicate it more than yer should." He acknowledged, part of it was right, part was terrible lie.

"That's not that easy it's-"

"Not again Hiccup!" He interrupted "It's complicated! It's complicated." He pretended her at which she could only smile. "Believe me lad, it's not. Believe in yerself."

She lighten up "Thanks Gobber I-"

"And when yer going to do it, yer gonna kill yers first dragon!" He yelled happily.

"-appreciate that..." she continued, whispering to herself. "Umm Gobber, but what if killin' dragons is just against me? Then yers 'believe in herself' is pointless."

"Hiccup, killin' is part of yer. Really it is."

"No, I don't think so."

"Hiccup I understand."

"I'm startin' to thinkin' yer not at all" she acknowledged annoyed.

"Yer just like yers mother" Hiccup focused, Gobber noticed that "Not that I know more..."

"Yer can't just start topic and not continue it! What was my mother like?" Hiccup asked excited. She barely knows anything about her. Only thing she know is that she died saving hers life.

"Yer father's goin' to kill me."

"Please! Please, please, please." Hiccup begged.

"Alright! But no more puppy eyes!" Gobber begged as well. "Yers mother was like yer, bad at trainin', clumsy and the worst baker I ever meet!"

"Hey!"

"Just kiddin'! I know yer not that bad, but she was. Hers meatballs still are somewhere in my stomach" he laughed "What I remember was she tried to make peace, with dragons and people. That's why part of village thought of her as crazy!"

"She wanted peace?"

"Aye, yer father loved her so much, she loved him back of course. Most important is that, she died hero, she saved yers life. And that should be most important for her." He pointed at her.

"I never knew she fought for peace..."

"What I just said Hiccup? She saved yers life! Most important!"

"Aye... sorry. I just sometimes think that savin' wasn't worth it..."

"What yer talkin' about? Of course it was worth! She saved yer!"

"That's problem... I promise yer, if I would disappear nobody would bother."

Gobber sighed "There are much more people who care than yer think Hiccup. Seriously." He explained but Hiccup didn't believe it as much as Gobber wanted.

"Did we ended? I would like to go if it isn't problem." Both Gobber looked at workshop.

"Nah, it's not. Yer can go. I guess see you soon. Right Hiccup?"

"I guess..."

It was already night. The moon was shining in sky, there wasn't even one cloud. Perfect time for attack but luckily there wasn't one. Hiccup was walking in forest. She should probably head already home, but she didn't wanted to. Dark forest was almost perfect for her, she loved it's quiet, it's peaceful, she wasn't scared at all.

This last years were the worst of hers life, everything changed for her, nobody notice it, but it did. She couldn't life same, she couldn't. She was cursed. Cursed by same lokiscreation dragon, which she shot down back then. She regretted it. Regretted every decision, which guided her towards that decision. She hated every inch of herself that didn't wanted kill that dragon that night. She hated herself. How she couldn't?

She done that to herself. All. Hers. Fault. And why she didn't done that? Because what? She looked into it's eyes? It's remind her of herself? Pigshit! She thought when it didn't killed her, he gave her mercy. Truth is, it didn't, it make her even more miserable. Death sound now like favour for her.

She tried to kill herself, not gonna lie. It happened not once, not twice. Problem is it wasn't such easy. Poison were not poisonous for her, every, she tried poison herself with every poison she found. She tried to cut herself, there problem is that wound would heal itself in 5 minutes! There were options like cutting hers head off or strangle to death, or hunger herself, but she didn't wanted like that. She was still scared. She was scared of pain she would feel. Only thing she dreamt about was painless, fast death. Is that too much?

Hiccup went hers way towards cliff, another of hers options. She didn't made try every night, but in nights when she seems her life is hopeless, like in moment when you know if you won't kill that one sheepheaded dragon, which you won't because it's against you, for rest of life you're going to life a life when you won't have any free choice.

She stood by cliff, enjoying view she find herself in. Wind was stroking hers hairs, there was peaceful sound of waves, moon was shining beautiful at sky, she just have to make one step, one step for freedom... then she did.

Now wind only fasten, starting to hurt hers ears. She closed hers eyes too frighten if she is going to open them, she starts to panic. Think positive, you going to be with mom, you're going to let yourself from pain you have got yourself into. You're going to be okay. Just close yours eyes, don't open it.

She started to getting on speed, instinctive she opened eyes much of hers disapprobation. She started getting scary, with every inch of falling only much more. She can do this, calm down, don't think about it, don't think about it. Everything's going to be okay. They are going to be happier without you. She now noticed how close she was to ocean. JUST DON'T GET SCARY, IT'S OKAY, JUST DON'T CHANGE!

When she such close to ocean, something unnatural started to happen. She couldn't explain it, she couldn't. Every time it happened she closed hers eyes, she was such scared of it. It was curse. Curse from which she wanted to get away. Curse, which every time she got scared, or suddenly got bigger emotion would change her into...

With big splash she dove into water, but nothing happened to her, like water surface couldn't match her. As clumsy as she was she got to closest beach, lay at sand, and as much as she wanted, she tried to ignore terrible pain in hers whole body. She tried to ignore the reflection in water, but it was too close, she couldn't not to see it. She was cursed, she was monster, she was night fury.

Just as a hatchling, which didn't knew how properly walk she get out of water, but only walk a few steps away to again lay in sand just so she could see cliff she tried to jump from. Human wouldn't notice it because of darkness, but dragon could. Now, only thing she could do now was feel this terrible feeling of another lose, she lost against hers dragonself she hated. Is death that hard to accomplish? With that last thought, she from tiredness and probably for, even for hers dragon form, pain she felt during fall, rapidly she fell asleep. Is she asking for to much?

Thanks for reading. I hope you liked it. I just want to explain 2 things :

1. I don't know how to write nordish, Swedish accent, I don't research, as you see it isn't perfect but I would be happy about any positive criticism. Any advices, what should I add or remove, I welcome with open arms.

2. Words like sheepheaded etc. are for me the change for swear, how I imagine they would swear as Vikings. Just explaining.

Again thanks for reading!! Bye!!
