Because of much of free time since spring break, my tomorrow lack of time and my birthday, ah yess sweet 18, you got that chapter waaay too early. Wish you nice reading and thank you for such good welcome of that story. Seems toothcup didn't actually died ;)

Falling. Yet again falling. This time it was different. She didn't even noticed she was indeed. This time hers head was fully of questions, every one of them was even harder to explain. That dragon, that thing, was in same situation as her? But how! That couldn't... that can't be possible! Maybe, it's now her imagination, making her fool. Maybe, it's only dream! She will woke up in any moment now, laughing at hers muttonhead thoughts. However shouldn't she wake up at feel of pain?

While hers now slow-moved falling, view leaves would hurt hers face at impact. Like, these was punching her out of nowhere. When she finally reached ground she was meet not with tough land, but hard water. Seems that branch he took them to was over lake at raven point, probably she couldn't see it because of trees. Because of lack of oxygen she rapidly started to swim up, towards surface.

When she reached it, she was welcomed with huge wave, which covered her fully. Hiccup looked yet again reaching surface, in direction of wave start. She noticed hers companion, or more likely hers kidnapper, just as her hardly compacted water. She was surprised it, Ugh, he just didn't flew, but she could guess it was because of big number of trees beneath them.

Both of them now was looking in direction of one another. As Hiccup took notice, he looked at her much rather raged. She knew he wouldn't let her just go, without any explanation. It would be seen that it's going to be long night. Really long indeed. She could now only avoid his look and with her best get out of cold water.

As she swim towards land, she took notice he was already up in air, swiftly flapped his wings and landed by shore. He looked at her, getting water from himself with his tongue. He waited for her to join him. It would have been nice, if it wasn't for dragon which moment earlier was ready to shoot her straight towards Valhalla.

When she finally, with now hurting painfully hands from cold water, stood up already knowing any ideas of running away was now to forgot. Dragon was staring at hers intensively, every move she would do not in his liking would probably bring at her shoot with his plasm blast straight in hers stomach, making huge hole in her. Not best way of death. So, no running. His look gave that order, without any words.

She hoped at least he would let her do a fireplace, it was now most important thing to do. Hiccup was already shaky because of cold. Village now was in early autumn, but she knew berk is still one of most frozen part of archipelago which made autumn colder than usual, same with winter. If you never get a frostbite here, you don't know nothing about cold.

When she rushed in direction of first visible tree, she was lucky that dragon didn't seems to be bothered than that. He let her do whatever she wanted, at last to moment if she would try do something tricky. She grabbed view branches she thought as good for burning, then sat up in light on moonlight and put them in cone. She found hard way she couldn't light it up, mostly because of place two of them find themselves in. Place of coldness and nearby water air in here was wet one.

Seems that dragon got annoyed of hers stupid attempts of firing it and done work himself. He shot little plasma blast without any warning almost hitting hers hands which was close by. She immediately jumped at it, scared of his intentions, looking at him offended.

"How are you human able to stay alive, when you can't even lighten one fire. Such useless creatures..." Dragon mumbled in Hiccups head. Seems like it was mind type of communicate.

Hiccup just rolled hers eyes, irritated by his words. She got closer towards fire, feeling now warmer without risk of hypothermia. She laughed at him inside because one of intentions of fire would be attracting raged Vikings because of smoke coming from it. He actually helped her get out from him. She now only had to stay calm, until someone notices fire.

"Last shoot." She pointed at fire. "Seems now yer has no weapon."

"Amazing you can count." He ironised "I wouldn't feel so safe if I were you." He threatened. "I still have sharp claws and strong jaws, strong enough to break yours neck with one strong impact."

She now felt frighten, he was right. Hiccup looked at dragon seeing position she found herself in. Dragon was still on its 4 legs, when she was now sitting by fire. Both of them was rather fat from one another, but she knew if he wanted jump at her, it wouldn't be any problem for him. She could at least hope while impact he wouldn't see anything because of smoke he would have to meet in way for hers since fireplace was just between them.

Hiccup signed, now curled up in scare. "I guess yer have much of questions-"

"Since when." He asked rapidly, not even flinching from his position.

"Since when what?" She asked, scared that she didn't knew what he meant.

"Since when you're shapeshifter!" He asked now restlessly. Seeing she still didn't understood he rolled eyes. Huh, dragon rolling eyes. "Such stupid creatures. Half-human, half-dragon!" He explained.

"First of all, I'm not stupid. Couldn't you just explain without mean comments? Second of all, probably after our meeting. Yer?"

"Same. I was sure that's because of you." He replied.

"And I was sure that's because of you." She said back, nervously.

Afterwards both stayed silent for while. Seems for both of them that theme was hard one. For both remind of that memory was difficult. For both recoiling that was rather harsh. Hiccup could wonder how it must be for him. As for dragon changed into human. Is it was just like for hers? Just as her if he got nervous he would change? Huh, wonders.

"How is that possible?" He asked rapidly, not expected for Hiccup at last.

"I don't know... I tried to explain that to myself, but seems blacksmith is nothing compared to magic." She replied. Seeing his question expression, she continued. "I'm blacksmith in ours village, more likely helper. Yer know, makin' weapons."

"Weapons which doesn't even break through our skins. Useless job." He acknowledged, making Hiccup feel embarrassed for herself. "So, you want to say you know nothing? Nothing at all?"

"Even if I wish I do, I don't know."

"For moon's sake, so I was looking for that stupid village for 5 bloody weather circles just to got... this! Most unaware Viking in whole world!"

She snapped. "Hey, yer could get worse!"

"Yer, yer." He pretended her, rather mean. "You Viking can't really speak properly, don't you?"

"And YOU can? Since when yer such great speaker? I thought dragons are like 'Danger! Danger!', 'Food!' 'Food!' all of time! Believe me, yer thinkin' I didn't heard that!" She acknowledged, now raged for his behaviour.

"Maybe other dragons, just because they don't find interested in yours creating long sentences. Who need so much words anyway? That's short sentence not once saved ours life. We were able to evolved into mind communication, you still need mouth for that. Besides, I do actually speaks better than you! You Viking had such bad accent, I don't know how are you able to speak like that! It supposed to be YOU, not YER.It supposed to be ING, not IN'"

"And yer such smart?! Aren't yer!?"

"I actually since that's five circles traveled much, I saw much of yours human language and it's strange how you Vikings out of the ordinary." She rolled eyes at this. Ignoring him now. "You probably now are most lucky human in whole world, don't you?"

"What yer mean?"

"You just become one of strongest animal in whole world. You can fly now, breath real fire. You aren't now such vulnerable as another of yours kind. In my case I got the form of useless human which is that vulnerable it can't life on it's own!" He replied.

"If I could at least control that..." She recoiled sadly.

He confused. "What's your problem?"

"Yer know, changin' because of strong emotions. I can't control that. Every time if I'm not in control of myself I would change. I'm such scared that one day I might do that in front of my people. They would name me demon! Kill me on first sight!"

He looked at her with pity. "You- you thinks it's work LIKE THAT?!" He laughed, or rather done something which looked like dragon laugh. "Wow, I really got worst human! Girl you're not even close to answer! It's about what you think about! Not what you feel!"

"Wha~"

"Let me explain. When you got scared, angry, whatever, you started stressing that you would change, then thinking, overthinking that 'don't change, don't change' and then you did. Because you actually thought about it!" He explained, proudly of his knowledge and showing hers mistake.

"Well- WELL yer don't know even part of this! It wasn't easy time for me, okay?! Yer know how it is livin' as Viking one day scared you might actually eat someone alive!" She tried to explain herself.

"Do you know how it was for me? I had to spy on much of villages, observe theirs habits just to learn myself how to walk properly! How to speak! You could just went into forest and learn yourself easily because of natural dragon instinct of flying!" He argued, getting more annoyed at hers answers.

"I had it harder than you think! I had it harder maybe even than you!" She screamed and by it she signed hers fate. Immediately from rage, he jumped at her, smoke didn't blind him.

He actually didn't do much to her, seems he wanted just to scary her which he done perfectly. Hiccup was now laying under him, shaky as never. Frighten for hers dear live. Too frozen to even move one of hers limps. He looked at her, showing his deadly teeth. Ready to attack in any moment of hers unawareness.

"You think you had it tough? I was scared of sleep, scared that if I even think about humans I would unexpectedly turn into one! Imagine how it was when in nest I was just unexpectedly dreaming nightmares about being one of yours and then while waking up being almost being eaten alive! I was almost starved by my friend and family! Still, even so I was able to learn your language, even better than you do. I was able to learn how to walk, how to survive. You didn't even knew how to change properly if it wasn't for me!" He shouted, now looking straight at her "I could actually predict that." He get off her, leaving her still shaking at ground.

"You couldn't even kill dragon when you had chance to. It's obvious such person like you wouldn't help me. You're useless to me, don't have answer I was looking for. I won't kill you, but only because that wouldn't even change a thing!" He came closer."Don't you ever try to shoot me again." With that last warning and one strong flip of wings, he immediately rushed towards black sky, becoming now invisible for hers eyes. Watery eyes.

Now Hiccup walked in between forest trees, rather slowly, sorrowful. When dragon left her, after while of calming hers nerves she put out fire and step out, out of the cove. She was walking just into direction of hers home, hers village. In the sky formed was now black clouds, foreshadowing mighty rain which in any moment would fall just at hers now trembling body. Hers now only objective was getting to hers home, lay on hers bed and probably stay there forever!

She didn't cared, she didn't cared at all. About anything. It doesn't mattered. Nothing now mattered! Now she knew the whole truth. She thought that what happened was hers terrible fate. That what happened was awful curse. That what happened was the worst that could happen to anybody! She thought she was rather strong that she could live with that for 5 long years without anybody to notice! She was wrong. She wasn't strong. She wasn't having it that bad at all. She was weak. She was pitiful.

There was somebody who had it much worse than her. There was somebody which lived with same fate, but in difference for her, he done much better than her. In that long time, he knew much more than her. He learned how actually to change, when for her that was the biggest mystery. He already learned about his second side, how to speak, how to walk, when she couldn't even stay properly at hers 4 legs without falling straight at hers face. He lived, knowing he has to fight for survival, when hers only thoughts was at how to end hers fighting, about giving up. It was pitiful.

She stopped, thick tears now streaming hers face. She was pathetic. She slammed her back at closest tree, sliding off just to ground. Hers knees by hers chest, holding them with hers arms, like she was hugging them, much tightly. And she didn't dared to let go. She didn't dared to go any longer. She preferred stay here, waiting for rain to fall and kill her, because of hypothermia. She knew it wouldn't kill her, unfortunately. Dragon were naturally cold blooded creatures. All of world as always, against her.

She sat there, waiting now for anything to happen. She focused at breathing, because it was only thing she could now. Breath. Think. Hope. Even so for hers now, nightmare life, despite of it, she always was rather optimistic. As child even of hers not such great reputation along village, she smiled, she tried, she didn't gave up. It changed with went off time, it changed with Loki's work. She could now at last...hope. Thinking that time would eventually bring better for her, because now for sure it couldn't become worse. Right? How could it be worse?

The storm sounds interrupted hers considering. Because of that she actually focused on what was now surrounding her. She heard what was now for her as blessing. Vikings, raged Vikings, searching team. They were searching for her. She rapidly stood up, almost tripping at tree root. Hers limps were hurting, hers chest was in such ache, any move now made her in pain. It wasn't important. Important now for her was getting to hers father. Hers protector. Hers hope for now.

Rushing in direction of sounds, that what she found. She found them. She didn't remember when last time she was such happy at theirs sight, but there she was, running towards them, yelling on top of hers lungs so they could notice her. There was Stoic, she saw hers father. Without any thinking she now throw herself in his arms, hugging him tightly.

Stoic looked down at her, with relief smile. "Hiccup, are yer okay, lad?"

"I'm fine." She held on him, not letting on dear life.

People of crowd decided not to disturb them theirs moment. Father, their chief regain his daughter, after what seems like half of night. Whole group started to give up that they would find Hiccup Haddock, at least not alive. But here she was, hugging to hers dad with tears in eyes, same as him. It was situation they knew words would be here redundant.

"What happened? Where that devil took you?! Are yer hurt!" Stoic asked her at once.

She just smiled weakly, thankfully for his worry. "It probably- it probably just wanted to scar- scary me off. I'm really okay."

He pushed her slightly from him, but not in bad intentions. He started inspecting her. "Hiccup, yers shirt. It's all in blood!" He said loudly, with worry.

She looked down, hers shirt which originally was green, now was covered with dark, red stain. Only part by neckline and shelves was in theirs basic condition. She remembered then that he took her by hers body, claws into hers flesh. She wondered how much blood she must lost. Maybe, that much she actually imagined everything, maybe nothing of that happened.

Immediately she become light-headed. Hiccup collapsed straight on hers father, which was now frighten. "I must... dragon with claws... It's fine." She laid at his chest.

Straight away Stoic took her into arms, he knew he must right now carry her to village healer. "It's okay lad, Ye're safe now... Ye're safe." He assured her.

Afterwards Hiccup relaxed. Hers eyes felt heavily now... the darkness surrounded her.

She woke up with jump, just as from a nightmare. She looked around her, noticing room she found herself in was clearly hers one. Hers head was empty, she wasn't sure what happened exactly, she felt such... weak and tired. When she tried to stand up from bed she discovered that every hers move would make hers head spinning, dizzy. Hiccup stayed in hers place and looked more closely around now.

Hiccup noticed just next to hers bed, at hers bedside table laying was plate with not so fresh now food. More likely chicken leg with few leaves of salad, probably present from hers father as she knew he wouldn't enthusiastically let her eat something that wasn't meat. Dad... where he was?

Just as because of magic tricks, now everything seems for her to be possible, he came inside with what would look like breakfast. "Oh, Ye're awake!" He smiled at her.

She looked at him confused. "What happened? I'm havin' such empty head..."

He laughed at that, passing her plate. "I'm not blamin' yer. Lad, yer lost much of blood. I thought yer would sleep much longer."

"Then why would you..." she pointed at outstanding plate.

He understood. "Aye, that just in case. I'm yers father. I was worried." He sat by her, making bed kinda tilt.

"Thank you... but then could you remind-"

"That dragon, he took yer... remember that?" He asked, raged at the memory.

'Right, dragon.' She reminded herself, but not raged as hers father at recollection, more like... upset, depressed.

"Yer fine?" He asked when he noticed his daughter distress.

She focused. "Aye, aye... just, recalled that."

"I understand. It had to be hard for yer... nobody actually saw Night Fury. Yer were first." He exclaimed.

"Yay." She mumbled.

She actually should feel proud. Night Fury was most mysterious dragon, most dangerous and most deadly dragon and she survived it, she survived meeting Night Fury! It would be talk of whole village for rest of moon circle! She should be proud of herself! Whole village saw her stand face to face with mighty Night monster! Why she couldn't feel proud?

'I won't kill you, but only because that wouldn't even change a thing!' She reminded herself one of last sentences of dragon.

'Right that's why' she thought sadly.

Even so she should feel like hero, she wasn't one. Hiccup 'useless' Haddock, that was what she is. Useless member of village, redundant heir of Haddocks, future chiefness used as form of alliance. Now she know, nothing would change that.

"I have talked with Gothi, she took care of yer. She was pretty impressed how fast yers wound healed themselves. She said it was actually strange..." He notified.

Hiccup since these five long years didn't actually went to Gothi. Hers story with making herself hurt, even if earlier it was from being clumsy, rather than being suicidal, was actually that long she could heal herself pretty well. She knew much of things in that theme, how to set bone, how to take care of bleeding and so on. That knowledge was useful when she became that half-human thing, or more likely shapeshifter as that dragon said.

Gothi wasn't dumb. Hiccup knew it. She wasn't dumb. She was not only village healer, but she was one of the oldest. People saying she is talking with gods, she might have deal with them, even so she won't talk with village people. Rumours says Gothi find out secrets from Gods with such importance they took hers tongue, that she don't even have one. Now on, if Gothi noticed it was strange... Hiccup must now really be careful with hers little secret.

"Strange? But, yer think it was normal. Right?" Hiccup asked hers father, nervously.

"Of course!" Hiccup relief. "Yer Haddock. We're knew from ours resistance! I'm proud of that." He acknowledged.

"Right! Blood of greats Haddocks! Of course." She agreed with him.

"Yer know... maybe that story would improve yers confidence!"

"Why is that so?" She asked, surprised.

"Yer stood against Night Fury! Maybe that kidnap would show yer, that yer shouldn't be scared of killin' that demons." He explained.

She nodded. "Maybe... I hope at least."

"That's great..." He stood up, to leave room. Then, turned to her immediately. "Just, one more thing lad."

"What it is dad?"

"Maybe, next time don't do such suicidal things. I understand yer wanted to show us yer are brave, and yer do! Yer do such brave thin', but it also was stupid! So stupid!" He laughed, but then reminded something and calmed. "It was brave, but it could have ended much worse. Hiccup can I ask you for somethin'?"

She looked at him focused. "Of course."

"Take care of yerself. Take care. Yer mother died for yer. With actions such as that... yer makin' hers death unnecessary, useless, and it wasn't. Honour yers mother by stayin' alive, okay? Besides yer my only family Hiccup, I care much about yer dear." Stoic said as tears formed in his eyes.

Hiccup was already crying. "Um... of- of course, dad. Yer right."

He took his hand and with it wiped hers tears. "We both got emotional. I know, I loved her too Hiccup. That's why we have to keep livin'. For her."

"For her."

Both smiled at each other. Stoic yet again went into direction of doors. "I will leave yer alone. Rest lad, rest." With that he left, closing door.

Hiccup was perplexed. How could she forgot about hers own mother! That much times she kept thinking how hers life become miserable one, how she just wanted to give up on it, that everything was against her. She tried kill herself... when hers own mother died for her. Died just so she could now live! And what Hiccup done? She was trying and almost destroyed hers mother legacy. Hers father was right. It was just as she made hers death unnecessary!

That's why she is going to change. She doesn't care, but that time she wouldn't care about what's against her. She is going to live, no matter what. She would do her hardest just to make her proud. To make hers death important. She is going to change hers life. It's not known how she would do that, but someday she will find out why. She will. She promise.

With that last thought, she laid on hers bed, looked just over herself at open sky. She imagined somewhere there, in Valhalla, hers mother look at her, giving her hope. She knew she would. Afterwards Hiccup felt asleep.
