"Yer guys hurry up! The faster we will rebuild it, the more free time yer would get." Gobber's voice surrounded harshly whole surroundings, looking rather annoyed at teenagers. Murmurs would escape theirs mouths, just as groan. "Stop complainin' already, or we might stay here whole night!"
After latest raid, Berk wasn't fully rebuild. There was still buildings, houses and war equipments, which demanded renovate. Theirs todays work, happened to be a catapult, which not so long time ago, with frightened eyes, Hiccup could clearly see being destroyed by mighty Night Fury blast. Who would have thought, she would had to now clean his mess. Even so, she couldn't help, but to smile at memory. So much changed after that little amount of time.
"Why we had to do that? It wasn't us who destroyed it!" Tuffnut, with desk onto his shoulder, looked upright, into now sunset alike sky, showing unnecessarily his annoyance. Holding onto broom, Hiccup sighed, shaking hers head in irritation. "Not this time."
Ruffnut nodded with agreement, as well as she pouted. "This time I have to agree with that muttonhead. Wasn't that a dragon that destroyed it?"
"And yer think that it would come back here to rebuild it?" At those words Hiccup couldn't help, but to imagine Toothless himself getting here, cleaning whole place with apology face. A smirk formed at hers face, as well as silent giggle escaping hers mouth. "Let's just hurry, we might afterwards make some fireplace with scary stories."
Tuffnut focused his sight on him, visible confusion was streaming from him. "Scary stories? Made by yer?"
"Obviously."
Immediately Tuffnut's mouth went open wide, filling out almost whole lungs with oxygen. "For Loki, that's amazin''!" He shouted in the air, dropping hammer he had in one of his palms, which landed just over his sister foot. Instantly, she held on it painfully, puffing and huffing, glancing at brother furiously. Lifting it, yet again from floor, he almost jumped from excitement. "Everyone! We have to hurry!" That's when he rushed towards one of standing there wooden pillar. With slowest and most sluggish movement, he hammered the nail. Young adults around bursted into laugher afterwards, Gobber as well smiled and giggled about that joke. Hiccup couldn't help, but to as well smile as giggle escaped hers mouth, but after terrible stare of Astrid beside her, she turned hers face rapidly, fighting hers tears from her again excluding from group.
Time passed and catapult was good as new. Working there, gathered together around fireplace made by Gobber. Obviously, Hiccup stick more by entrance, tightly holding onto hers stick with now roasting fish. Hers head was mostly directed onto ground, hopeless feeling of desire to just disappear encircled hers body, giving her slightly shivers. "That's when we were surrounded by at last dozen of wild and furious Snaptrappers! One by one, together with Stoic by side, we defended whole flock!" She raised hers sight at loudly limping Viking, shouting loudly, with smile mile wide.
"It's not possible, without any weapon?" Astrid snarled, hers chin was raised into air as she lay onto wooden bench she sat by.
"But, that's true! Remember it's our chief we're talkin' about!"
"Okay, but then how we're yer able to disobey against theirs trappin'? In Bork's book it's said that even strongest Vikings can't object theirs smell." Fishlegs acknowledged, his chest sticking out from pride, which was much of not typical for him.
At those words, older Viking's eyes went wide, his mouth almost instantly closed itself. His cheeks were now on fire, he smiled at them murmuring something underneath his nose. There was few giggles about his behaviour. Hiccup stared at hers fish, slightly smirk came at hers face. It was rarely she saw Gobber in such state, yet it always would drive her towards joy.
"Loki's blooded animals." Voice surrounded hers ears, subsequently leading towards loud bang with foot onto ground. She glanced at voice's belongings, seeing Snotlout noticeable veins, which popped out of his face. "I swear, I could feel now Thor's anger in my blood!"
"Exactly!" Astrid shouted, with pouting face. Snotlout returned favour, by making her flirty look, at which she just rolled hers eyes. Some things never change. "Not only those lizards are powerful enough to kill without any problem, yet they dare to even steal from us!"
"I'll chop off the legs of every dragon I fight!" Ruffnut announced, as always trying to match everyone else, standing nice and tall.
Just then, hers brother stood as well, pushing his side in her, so he was in centre of attention now. "I'll as well, but with my face!" He would now get a lot of annoyed faces, yet he remained still and proud. Then, he could feel impact into his head, made by his sister.
"Sheep head."
Between his eating, Gobber raised his sight at them. "It's the tail and wings yer really want." There was remaining silent, as nobody actually cared about explaining.
"W-Why?" Immediately regretting it, Hiccup asked, shuttering in meantime. Everyone around looked at her now, she shivered, shrinking in size. Gobber smirked at her, thankfully for question.
"If it can't fly, it can't get away. A downed dragon, is dead dragon." Hers heart bumped loudly, but she nodded thankfully as well for explanation. Gobber ended last of legs of chicken inside his mouth, as he glanced over everyone. "Aye, everyone better get back to yers houses. Get ready for tomorrow's trainin'. With time, there would be bigger and bigger pieces. Prepare for it."
Everyone rushed towards entrance and stairs leading towards ground, but for moment Hiccup stood by hers place, thoughtfully. A downed dragon, is dead dragon.
"Hey, Toothless!" Melody alike, Hiccup called for dragon, which would now likely swing from his branch by tail. Hers back ached, for whole way here she kept onto it basked, which already made her trip few times.
Said dragon opened onto one of his eyes. Bright, toxic green orb stared at hers in slits. "On your place I wouldn't wake up sleeping dragon."
"Don't be like that! It's dark outside, yer shouldn't sleep! Besides, I have little present for yer." She stood in front of him, dropping clumsy alike said basket onto ground. Her shoulders arched back, but by view of his muzzle Hiccup squeaked softly and quietly. With hers foot, she made it open widely, because of which dozens of fish dropped onto ground.
He glanced at them, then turned his sight yet again at her. Surprisingly, he made pouting face. "What do you want?"
She snarled, bashful eyes were locked onto ground. As hard as she could, she avoided his sight. "I must have reason to just give yer little present?" Hers cheekbones lifted high, but even so he could say something was odd here.
"Stop that talking, just say it."
"Stop that investigation, eat already."
His mind was screaming at him, warning him about weirdness of hers behaviour. Even so, he looked forward onto hers present. Random fishes already made its way towards his snout, theirs smell seduced him completely. His eyes narrowed at her, to finally gave up on feeling of distrust, as he pushed himself towards fresh meat. Getting closer, scent was getting better, but eventually his nostrils catch... this!
He growled, his steps slowly took his body from it. He made her offended glance. Gritting his teeth, he snarled alike. "If it was supposed to be joke, know it wasn't funny. At all."
Hers palms sweated, she bitted hers lips. "I-I seriously, it wasn't supposed to be! What yer mean?" She glanced over place he stared at. Glow alike yellow skin got into hers sight, she moved forward as with one of hers arms, took said object. Eal. As she thought, it wasn't big enough for his liking, but even so, seeing its fully, he flinched. His eyes were now only slits, he roared silently, but despite of it, she panicked, immediately throwing said eal beside them. Notwithstanding distance, his sight remained at it still. "Well, I'm not fan of ears either. Why yer so panicked over it?"
Staring at her, he fought with his thoughts as she could notice so. She smiled, trying to remind him she was indeed friend. He let out breath of warm air. "It's making dragon sick."
"S-sorry then. I didn't knew."
"How could you? I guess it's alright."
She coughed, hers head still directing him over food laying just in front of his legs. He rolled his eyes, in dragon way alike, finally moved, starting eating. Melting from the smell as from taste he calmed. Hiccup sat nearby, carefully observing whole scene. When he glanced at her, yet again odd look was visible. He, questioning alike, tilted his head. "May I have a little request for yer?"
He made her cold glance, eyes squinted. "I see it was all bribe."
She snarled loudly, giggled alike throwing hers arms. "No~, obviously! It was just little present, made by friend, to make yer more comfortable with makin' me favour."
"Simplest definition of bribe."
"Okay! It was bribe! Will yer help me?"
"That's depends of type of request. What you want?"
"Would you... learn me... how to fly?"
His eyes focused fully onto hers little body. Hers smile was teeth fully, giggling uncontrollably she rocked back and forward. "I learned myself without help how to be human. It shouldn't be harder for you learning how to be dragon either."
She saddened, she blushed as trembled. "Please, Toothless! Yer owning it to me after all of that!"
"Manipulation, making me feel guilty."
"Besides, yer are best teacher for such role!"
"Manipulation, making me feel proud enough."
"Are yer seein' in everything manipulation?"
"Unfortunately for you. Learn yourself."
"Yer know it's not that simple!" She shouted at him, immediately backing up as seeing hers rage didn't helped, but only made him much more unwilling. "My whole time I have village just over my head. It's not possible for me to just train or something."
"But then, why such suddenly? Why now?"
"I understood that... I just have to learn eventually. I'm scared of that, yet I know I would be safe with someone like you beside."
He glanced at her, then showed his head into fish, taking one of them into his mouth. Chewing onto it, he looked at her focused, mind fighting alike. Hiccup was nervous, frighten. He remembered times, when he would be like that. How he would beg just so someone would help him. There he was, now able to take role of teacher. But, wouldn't lesson of own strength better, than saying forward everything? Hers begging eyes went wide, alike puppy pleasing. He breathed loudly, letting out more than he took inside. His sight went from her to fishes, then again from fishes to her. "Alright. I will help you." Before she could jump from happiness, he continued. "But that means listening to me about everything I say." She nodded furiously, afterwards he stood up from ground. "Let's go then, it might get bright soon. It would be safer by dark, since no one would be able to notice us."
She smiled the brightest smirk she was able to made. "Obviously chief!"
"I'm startin' regrettin' it." Hers knees were wobbly like jelly, she breathed in and out loudly. Wind was hitting hers face, nostrils smelled peaceful scent of salt. First morning sunlights huffed hers eyes, despite of it, it wasn't hers biggest worry. Cliff. "There isn't another way?"
"This is how most hatchlings would learn. Jump. Instinctively, yours body would done rest."
"But then, I'm not much of typical."
"It's not true. You're much likely dragon, and for sure you have ours instincts."
She looked down, strong waves were hitting into shore. Hers legs shivered, she loudly shallowed. "Are yer sure?"
"Even terrible terror have such instincts. It won't be any difference with you. Trust yourself."
"But I'm not terrible terror. I'm human."
"For now." He glanced at her, thoughtfully analysed hers whole body. "I'm actually curious about what kind of dragon you are."
She rapidly turned to him, her mouth wide opened. "Yer don't know?"
"How could I? I never saw yours dragon form." His eyes focused, mind was likely thinking about possibilities. "You might be Nadder, since terrible terror is out, but then, you aren't that type either."
She giggled, made him pity look as she crossed hers arms. "Yer'll be surprised for sure." Hiccup exclaimed, proudly, raising hers chin. Hers companion at such view, couldn't help, but to roll eyes and snarl at her.
"Alright. Stop with that secret, just change already. It won't be easy flying in this form."
Hiccup laughed, hers palms covering hers mouth, just so she finally calmed, then focused. Before she knew that, she was already dragon. She felt small. Comparative to him, she was small. It wasn't half size smaller, yet there was difference. Maybe, she was scared? Most likely. But, she trusted him. It was first time she changed full free willingly, without any danger around. It felt... pretty good. She was able to get herself good look. Hers wings weren't bigger than his, but it amazed her how powerful they looked like. She was pure black, despite of it, light was reflected by them, giving them tone of dark purple. She wasn't able to notice more, sadly.
With slightly smile she glanced over hers companion, just so it would leave hers face in mere moment. He wasn't looking happy, neither he didn't looked not. He stared at her, making her anxious. Hiccup couldn't help, but to avoid his look. Maybe, he thought about her as weak? Maybe, he would likely be offended why such girl as she, get mobility to become one of his? By time, she grew tired of his behaviour as she snarled alike. Sound she made shocked her, that way she now would with wide open eyes glance over herself, she was indeed dragon, she reminded herself.
His eyes finally focused afterwards, he avoided now hers look. Despite of it, she looked at him questioning alike, begging him for explanation. "It was a long time since I saw one of my own."
"That's understandable." In spite of these words, she didn't felt relieved. Opposite. She knew he was lying, hiding something. He went forward, bypassed her, not even giving her slightly glance. Eventually, when he was just over edge he jumped, immediately keeping himself into air. Jealous slide through her as bigger dragon showed his flying skills, but she shook these thoughts from hers mind. She glanced at him, he didn't even looked at her! His sight kept onto ocean, directing her into doing same as he.
She shivered, there is no way she would do same! "I'm not sure about-"
"I'm sure yours instinct would keep you stable. Just do it." His words didn't motivated her, he sounded harsh. It was horrible feeling for her, how Toothless from being helpful and supportive, just after look at her, became cold and straight.
"Okay, maybe it's not time, I should-"
"Hiccup, jump!"
He roared at her, frightening her much as she kept hers wide opened scared eyes at him. What's with him?! She glanced forward, hers heart bumping loudly in hers chest. Breathing loudly, she was able to calm herself. It's now or never. She jumped. Opening hers eyes, panic overwhelmed her. She hadn't any control! Hers every sense was against her! Hers hearing was sensitive now, she would hear every swing of wind. Hers sight was strange, almost like she could see sound?! She couldn't move any of hers limp, motionless alike she just free fall. After mere moment, hers body was meet with hard and cold water surface. With hardest tries, she was able to get onto shore. Breathing shallowly, she kept hers muzzle directed onto ground. Just then, she felt presence just behind her. Hiccup didn't had to turn around to know who it was.
"Again. See you at cliff."
These words were only she heard, as he afterwards pushed his wings, and flew in known her direction. Hiccup tried to glance at him, showing him hers offending towards him, but when she did, he was already gone. She mumbled something underneath her nose, then focused onto ocean. For unknown reason, it peacefully calmed her. She sighed, had she another option? Finally, making her first steps, she reminded herself, she didn't knew how to walk. Immediately, she ended up muzzle first onto ground, painfully changing from, so she was actually able to get back to hers friend.
By the time she got there, he was already waiting, again not even giving her slightly glance. Hiccup was thankful for wind, which now likely cool down hers red cheeks from exercising, way upright cliff wasn't the most easiest."Change already, we're doing that again." His eyes voice surrounded hers ears, like they were bells in them.
"Maybe, it's enou-"
"What are you scared of?! Change already!"
She froze, hers body shook uncomfortably. Why he was being such aggressive now?! Glancing at him, she made him that betrayed look, but as instructed, she did. Within no moment she was again in same situation, just by edge, with Toothless flying somewhere over hers head. She shallowed, but despite of it she was much more scared of him, rather than jump. Hers heart ached by such conclusion, but she ignored it as she yet again found herself into air, yet again free falling. Nothing much changed from earlier situation, she still couldn't help herself, but to not feel any control over herself, but this time was different. In moment, she was about to hit surface, she felt a hold onto hers body. Looking at belongings of that hold, she found mighty Night Fury, keeping her into air, before he would take them both onto cliff again. It amazed her, how he was able to keep both of them onto air, without any problem.
By the landing, she glanced at him, trying hers hardest to ignore what today happened, and thank him for his help. Even so, he was first to speak. "Again."
Her eyes went wide, she could feel air leaving hers ears. Again?! Was he joking?!"What's wrong with you?!" He stunned, his sight focused onto forwarding him. She made sound of gnarl, by which she would be much surprised, if it wasn't for her furiously now. "Why you're treating me today that way?!"
"You wanted yourself to learn. Again."
"Not that way! I was sure you would casually learn me, but here I am, with offended dragon, for Odin's known thing!"
"Again."
"Why you're such hard towards me?! Since you saw me as dragon, I fell like enemy rather than friend! You're suddenly hating me! What I done to deserve it?! What wrong I did?!"
He snapped alike, turning rapidly he glanced straight into hers eyes. "Because without even trying you're already better than me!" Theirs sight combined, his eyes were likely in slits, slightly gnarl coming from his chest. She breathed loudly, shrinking before him. Hiccup opened hers mouth few times, trying to say anything, but she go nothing. Tired of her useless tries, he pushed his wings, as he flew into dark of forest, leaving her alone with hers own thoughts.
She could now just walk herself into home direction, yet she didn't. Knowing, where she would find Toothless, she rushed out there. By way, there wasn't even slightly thought, surprisingly for hers overthinking mind. She just wanted first to know his version before. Stepping inside cove, she was met with rather peaceful view. In his human form, Toothless sat by ground, just next to lake. His knees were close to his chest, arms placed just over them, at which his head rested. Although surroundings were already bright, because of morning sun, there was few skylights, at which he would now stare comfortably. She smiled, it was good to know he wasn't mad, but then it wasn't comfortable to see him in such sadness.
Hiccup walked up to him, she felt he knew about hers presence, yet he wouldn't glance at her. Smile faded from hers face, even so she didn't felt any less willing of leaving him so. Sitting down, just beside him, she kept glancing at him, but actually both would stare forward onto lake. That was peaceful. Toothless would feel every of those glances, eventually he would sigh calmly. "I'm sorry, I made you feel that way."
These words surprised her much, but then looking at him she understood it whole. He wasn't mad at her, more likely at himself. "It's alright." Silent remained over them, sounds of skylight's wings were the only ones. Hiccup thought about what she could say now, to make him at least a little bit more reassured. "I seriously mean it. It's alright. I'm just wonderin', what yer meant up there? What actually happened?" He breathed, hide half of his face over his arms. He slightly glanced at her, she made towards him reassuring smile, but it wouldn't help him much. By the touch at his back, his head would raise. Hiccup stroked it carefully, he couldn't help, but to stare for moment at her. Afterwards, his sight was turned yet again into bright lake. "Please, tell me."
He nodded, she could say theme wasn't comfortable for him, but she had to know the truth. "Every type of dragon, has something, which made them unique. Known by you, Vikings, dragons as Gronckles would be strong and resistant, Death Nadders swiftly and cleaver. Because of which, every dragon is build different, but there would be always something in common for everyone of each type. Gronckles are thick-scaled with smaller body, Nadders are tall, rather stealthy."
"What this has to do with yer?"
He turned to her, for moment glancing, gathering confidence. Seeing it, she smiled, because of which he couldn't help but to smile to her as well. Reminding himself about his next words, he sighed glumly. "Night Furies are different, supposed masters of sky. Fast, invisible for humans eye, clever. Ours bodies supposed to be aerodynamic, skinny with big wings to push us." His sight turned. "And I wasn't build that way."
"What yer mean?"
He breathed loudly at memory. "When I was born, I was bigger than other hatchlings. Because of my age, it wasn't much important, just pushed it back my mind. Problem was that with age, it was getting worse. As Night Furies are known among Vikings the most dangerous, there isn't any difference between dragons. Because of which, not only I was feared by them as Night Fury, but also as a different one. Strange one."
Hiccup stared at him, hers mouth went wide opened as well as eyes. "Yer say... yer we're too big for them?"
He nodded slowly, sorrowful at theme. "I was outsider, because of that when I saw you, human girl I just met, being something I wished I would be for my whole life without any try, I just go jealous. I'm really sorry, I didn't meant to throw at you my anger."
"It's okay now. I just..." She scratched top of hers head, he could say something was uncomfortable for her either, but even so, she started laughing softly. "Yer know, I'm not as another Vikings. I'm weak, small. I'm runt among them. Even my name, Hiccup, means the weakest in flock." She giggled, he confused, raising his brow. "Isn't that strange? How both of us get somethin' one another wanted? I wished I would be like yer! Strong, tough... man. Yer wished, yer would be smaller, faster." He snarled, but way she could say it was rather joyful. "Truth is, maybe our curse wasn't only because of ours first meetin'. Maybe, I was supposed to be born as dragon, and yer as human. Crazy idea, isn't it?"
"Strangely possible."
Even so for his words, he didn't looked much reassured. She coughed, making him look at her again. "If it helps, in my eyes yer aren't monster. Not anymore at last. I'm findin' such Night Fury as yers, strong, but in majestic way. Yer likely a great example, how Night Furies might be strong, yet stayin' fast. I mean, seein' yer by latest raid, I'm sure yer faster than average Gronckle, yet yer might be same strong as it is."
He nodded, confidence likely now slide through this body. "I never thought about it that way." He glanced at her. "If my opinion means something to you, even so you're not much of Viking, it doesn't mean you're weak. You're smart, fast, cleaver. Don't think of yourself any less."
She stared at him, blush slide through hers whole face. At sight, he couldn't help, but to laugh. She made him embarrassed glance, but as well giggled joyfully. "Thank yer. That was nice of yer."
"As well as from you." Both smiled at each other, staring, calmly feeling surrounded them, as well as new warmness in Toothless chest. Trying to ignore it, he asked. "It's getting bright. Shouldn't you gone to village already?"
She smiled. "In a minute." She turned towards lake. "It's really peacefully in here."
He stared at her, without her knowing for moment. "Yeah. There is." Eventually he turned as well.
HELLO, bit of explanation. Since dragons are talking by minds, there is no accent. Because of which, dragon-hiccup doesn't have it. Just if someone was confused.
Head cannon by me, Toothless was born bigger than other his race, and he is outsider as Hiccup, just another way. Let's see how will it work.
In little of time, I'm going for trip with my class, because of which I don't know if next chapter going to be next week. [Reminding that I'm writing 2 fic same time (ADs time, go see "Something, I didn't had.")]
Ps. SORRY KLARA. (For my friend)
