Eden

She ignored the stares following her as she crossed the cafeteria, the heels of her boots clicking against the tiles.

"Hey, slut, how've you been?" A nameless boy mocked as she passed him.

She rolled her eyes, flipping her long hair over her shoulder in his direction. She would show them a slut.

"Eden – !" The redhead barely managed to say her name before she grabbed the side of the blonde empath's chin, pressing her lips against his.

He froze against her, unable to react. She smirked against his lips, focusing on the warmth that was spreading through her abdomen, pooling right above her uterus. She swore she heard him growl in response to her emotions, his hands tight on her hips.

She would definitely have marks tomorrow.

"Jazz, stop." The small noirette girl interrupted, placing her hand on the empath's arm.

"Collins, enough!" Someone shouted, and Eden was promptly yanked away by a female teacher that she did not recognize. "Detention! That is sexual assault, young lady, and you are incredibly lucky the principal is out of town, or else you'd be getting expelled!"

"Sexual assault? One of us had to make the first move, you dimwitted bat. And how about actual assault? Get your fuckin' hands off of me before I press charges."

The teacher released her arm, looking a bit uncertain.

"I'm still going to call your parents." She said slowly, narrowing her eyes. "The cafeteria is no place for such a sickening display."

Eden rolled her eyes. Honestly, as if that threat was supposed to scare her. The worst her parents would do is scream at her over the phone. They'd forget by the time they actually got home.

"That's nice. Tell them I said 'hi', since you people probably talk to them more than I do."

She smirked at the horrified look on the teacher's face.

"Come on, let's get you home. You're obviously not feeling well." The redhead said, rising from his seat.

"Wait, how does he know where she lives?" Someone murmured behind them.

"She probably fucked all of them." Someone else replied.

Eden turned, her smile colder than ice.

"Oh, you really want to talk about who I've fucked, girl?" She laughed, hatred swirling through her like a wildfire. "Frankly, I'm surprised you can still walk straight with all the dicks that have been up your arse."

The girl's eyes widened, her face darkening.

"That's enough! Collins, go home!" The teacher commanded.

Eden waved her fingers.

"About time, ya dumb bitch." She sneered before she walked out the side door, not even bothering to get her stuff from the table she had abandoned it at.

As soon as she was out of sight, she pulled the last of a joint from her front pocket, lighting it with the lighter she had stolen from her father's secret stash. Just as she was beginning to feel the buzz kick in, calming her senses, the Cullens' infamous blue Jeep pulled up beside her.

"Holy shit, you smoke?" The buff one asked, surprise etched on his face.

"That is not my entire personality, dipshit." Eden snarked back at him, blowing smoke in his girlfriend's face.

The blonde girl glared, baring her teeth threateningly. Like Eden was scared of her. Hell, Whimsy's claws were longer than this girl's.

"Eden, please, let us drive you home. You really shouldn't be – "

"Yo, Eden-babes, hop on!"

A motorcyclist swerved sharply, narrowly missing the back bumper of the Jeep as it slid effortlessly to a stop next to Eden.

"Fuckin' gag me." She breathed, running her fingers over the front of his bike.

The rider removed his helmet, smirking at her awe.

"Brand new, stole it myself. Let me show you how fast it goes." Jared offered, pushing back his dark hair.

"Eden, don't – please. Esme's been wanting you to come over." The short girl tried, leaning over the buff boy to look at her.

Eden scoffed.

"I've been without a mother for sixteen years. I'll survive."

She walked around the bike, hopping on the back as Jared clipped his helmet back on.

"Hang on tight, little girl. I don't let just anyone ride me." He whispered, a note of arousal in his voice.

Eden took one last drag of her smoke before she flicked it away, wrapping her arms around Jared's middle just a moment before he took off like a rocket.

Her laughter was lost in the wind as they sped down the road, faster than anything she had ever ridden before. She knew the Cullens were following them, but she didn't care. Her hair blew behind her, free of any restraints.

It was dangerous, and glorious, and her heart was racing wildly. The excitement was better than arousal.

They were going so fast, that Eden felt like she was invincible. That was their downfall.

The front tire slipped on a sharp, left turn, and Eden's arms were jerked loose. She flew off the bike, landing hard in, thankfully, a patch of thick grass.

The driver wasn't as lucky. He slammed into the side of a tree, and she swore she heard a crack as his neck broke on impact.

The bike spiraled off into a nearby creek. The Cullens skidded to a stop.

"Are you okay?" The redhead, the short girl, and the buff guy shouted as all five of the Cullens jumped out of the Jeep.

Eden wordlessly stood up, ignoring the pain that shot down her left arm. This part of the road was deserted, only ever really used when the main highway was closed. She didn't bother looking both ways, crossing the road and walking to the crumpled body.

His lips were already turning blue when she reached him, his skin feeling much colder than it should be, yet still warmer than the Cullens.

"Jared?" She asked, suddenly wishing she hadn't smoked before this.

How is it that she was okay despite not wearing a helmet, and he was just lying there, not breathing? Nothing made sense, and she knew that if she didn't have the drug clouding her mind, she wouldn't have approached him at all.

This was going to hurt tomorrow.

"Jared, come on. Stop fuckin' around."

She shook his shoulders hard, but nothing changed. His skin was cooling faster than she thought possible.

"Eden…"

"Oh, fuck off, Red." She snarled over her shoulder. "Stop being such an arsehole. Wake up!" She shouted at Jared.

Thunder crackled overhead.

"You fuck off too!" She screamed at the sky, terror rushing through her quicker than the lightning flashed. "I murdered him. I fuckin' murdered him." She whispered, sitting back on her heels.

It felt wrong to remain touching him.

"You did not kill him. He made his own choices!" The short girl said strongly, stepping forward.

Eden lifted her eyes to the little vampire's.

"You can change him. You can make him like you." She said quietly, but the girl shook her head, sorrow in her eyes.

"It's too late for him. Let us save you, Eden." She replied, her voice impossibly gentle.

Eden shook her head this time.

"It's too late for me too." She whispered, never really knowing if she heard her over the booming thunder.
