Author Note

I'm going to time skip most of the summer in this chapter because this story is dragging on longer than I planned and I need to get a move on.

If you don't like the fact that I'm skipping over stuff then please do remember that for me writing fan fiction is just a hobby. While I do have a few very generous people sending a few dollars my way, none of them ever make any demands of me and nothing is forcing you to read this story. There are plenty of professional writers out there publishing real works of fiction.

Pandora Lovegood's date of death isn't known for sure, but it was sometime before my character would have started attending Hogwarts in September 1990, however, there was enough wiggle room for me to get away with having her die sometime later in 1990 rather than in sometime during 1989 or the summer of 1990. Consider this to be a slightly different timeline than the books/movies.

I do plan for there to be some crossovers later on in the story. I hint at one in this chapter. As for the length some people like having long stories to read. If you don't then go read something else.

Thank you.

I appreciate the support.

Your criticism wasn't meant to insult, unlike some insults I get which clearly come from people who need to stop taking fanfics so seriously.

I'm glad you're enjoying the story.

Dumbledore had nothing to do with John Hiddleston being replaced. That was just the team captain placing blame on someone else.

If Kol's plans work out then there will be no need for Harry to let himself die.

Crossworld 1 - Harry Potter

Part 37

Ministry of Magic. London.

While some might deny it the reality was that the laws that governed most people simply didn't apply to people like Lucius Malfoy due to their wealth and political power, as such when I strode past the security desk where I should have checked my wand no one bothered to stop me since they thought I was Mr Malfoy. This was good because I wasn't carrying the right wand and I didn't want mine to be registered here unless I was visiting the Ministry as Tom Hiddleston.

I wondered if Tom Hiddleston would have gotten the same treatment had he tried that since he was also known to be very wealthy. I would have to try it out sometime and if anyone complained I would just claim that I'd been distracted by personal concerns.

Not that it mattered since I wasn't Tom Hiddleston right now. I was currently Lucius Malfoy and on my way to talk to the Minister of Magic. I'd taken the Death Eater's form and dressed in the most expensive clothing I could buy so as to better play the part. I needed people to be convinced that I was Mr Malfoy for this plan to be successful.

As to why I was doing this, well I had a desire to drive a wedge between Dumbledore and Fudge so as to weaken the Headmaster's hold over Magical Britain, and that would be more easily done if Fudge only had one wealthy adviser whispering in his ear. That alone wouldn't be enough, but it would be a step in the right direction. To this end, I needed to discredit Malfoy and hopefully see him thrown into Azkaban.

Without him around it should be much easier to go after the other Death Eaters and since using sheer brute force wasn't my preferred method of doing things, it was best to use tricky and stealth when possible to get my own way.

I'd scouted out the Minister's office before coming here so I knew exactly where to go, and his assistant, who'd clearly been chosen for her looks rather than her skills, didn't dare try to stop me as I entered Fudge's office without even knocking.

"Ah Lucius I wasn't expecting to see you today," he said.

The magical map I'd made of the Ministry, something made easier to do create thanks to my ability to walk around hidden from sight by illusions, had allowed me to see that Malfoy wasn't currently in the building. If he had been this would be very unlikely to work.

"My plans are changing Fudge and I need to bring you fully under my control if they are succeded," I told the foolish and corrupt wizard.

The man in the bowler hat looked confused.

"What in Merlin's name are you talking about Lucius?" he asked to know.

I took out the old wand, one that I knew wouldn't work well for me, but that wouldn't matter since I didn't need it to successfully cast the spell and it was unlikely that Fudge would recognise Malfoy's wand on sight. I wasn't using his trademark cane which might confuse investigators.

"Now I will control the Ministry" I declared.

Fudge looked as if he had gotten his mouth stuck closed with toffee as he tried to think of something to say.

"Imperio!" I yelled.

Of course, it failed as planned and Fudge seemed surprised by this. He must have been expecting to fall under the influence of the person casting the spell.

"You're stronger willed than I thought" I was now saying "Nevermind I will just have to kill you and try again with your replacement".

While I'd been expecting the Minister to call for help and force me to retreat he actually went for his wand. As he did I threw done some Instand Darkness powder and then headed out the door. When I was sure no one could see me I changed into a House Elf and got myself out of the Ministry.

Then a few moments later I re-entered the Ministry as Tom Hiddleston via the visitor's entrance, I went through the security booth and made it look as if I was just dropping off a note for the Minster who met me outside his office. I could tell that some of the Aurors were here trying to get rid of the magically made darkness.

"Minster is everything all right?" I asked.

Fudge looked rather pale.

"Mr Hiddleston!" he called out "Did you happen to see Lucis Malfoy on your way here?".

I made sure that I kept a concerned expression on my face.

"No, sir" I replied, "I've never even met Lucius Malfoy. He's not the sort of person I would associate with".

Fudge took a moment to think before deciding to tell me what had happened. It was clear that he wished to talk to someone about what had just happened so that they could help him make sense of it.

"Lucius Malfoy just came into my office and tried to place me under the Imperius curse," he told me.

I let my neutral expression become a sneer of disgust.

"That doesn't surprise me at all," I said "I've always been wary of the Death Eaters who claimed that they were being controlled by others. You can never really know for sure if someone was under the Imperius or not unless you're the one who cast that spell, and I heard that Draco Malfoy was sent to Drumstrang when he refused to attend Hogwarts as any good young wizard would if allowed to study there, and we've all heard about Drumstrang teaching their students the dark arts. Like father like son".

Fudge was left without an adviser and while Dumbledore would no doubt be here soon he wasn't here right now. Meaning I was free to plant some seeds of further doubt.

"Lucius seemed a little off" the Minister "Perhaps he was under the Imperius himself".

I didn't want Fudge thinking along those lines.

"Anyone can claim to be under the curse and use it to excuse themselves of any crime" I pointed out "And even if Malfoy is innocent he's clearly vulnerable to the curse and could be put under its effects again. I wouldn't allow someone like that in the heart of the government".

I changed the subject as it would be best to let Fudge deal with this himself now that I'd done my bit in framing Malfoy in such a way that the Minister was bound to feel that he needed to take some sort of drastic action even if it didn't actually accomplish anything.

"Well, I'll let you get on with the important work," I said, "I just dropped by to hand in my reply to your latest letter and to leave a note letting you know that I'll be out of touch for most of the summer. I'm off on holiday".

Fudge didn't like the sound of that.

"You're leaving the country?" he asked.

I wanted him to come to me seeking more advice rather than have me come on too strong, if I pushed the issue even Fudge might realise that this was all a little convenient for me.

"Yes, I'm off on a camping trip with my cousin" I answered "He needs to see something of the world".

Fudge reminded me of a boy who's just been told by a girl he's asked on a date that she was washing her hair tonight. I actually felt a bit bad for him as he clearly wasn't coping well with what just happened.

"Well do pop in when you can" requested the Minister "I always have time for my biggest supporters".

'And a lack of anyone to bribe you' I mentally added.

With that, I headed out to let the leader of Magical Britain do his job without someone to hold his leash. With the Ministry in chaos for a while, the next month or so would be a good time for me to earn some XP. But not before I made sure that Dumbledore wouldn't be getting in my way.

The Chamber of Secrets. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy.

While I intended to be busy over the summer I needed to cover my tracks and to stay informed more than ever now that I knew that Dumbledore at least suspected that Tom Hiddleston was involved in certain events that had been taking place over the last few years. It had only been a matter of time until this happened and this was hardly the first time that the Bright Lord had shown an interest in Tom Hiddleston.

Even without me meeting with Dumbledore as John Hiddleston, I would have known Dumbledore was on to me because Mad-Eye Moody was again popping over to Godric's Hollow to see if he could spy on me in my home, or maybe he intended to follow me and see what kind of things I got up to when out. Only this time he was turning up more often and sometimes in the company of others who I knew to be members of the Order of the Phoenix.

I also knew that Dumbledore could prove that Tom Hiddleston had killed Severus Snape, he would not just be having people watch me, I felt sure that the Headmaster would be taking some sort of action, but I could be wrong about that as never did much to keep Lucius Malfoy in line. In any case, I needed to know more so I was glad that I still knew about 12 Grimmauld Place and could access the house.

Despite knowing the address of Sirius Black I'd been unable to write it down when sending a letter to Harry Potter when the summer started. I'd been planning on sending him a note suggesting that we have a day out like we did last summer. Only for some reason, I couldn't write down the address.

Almost at once, I'd figured out that the house had been hidden by magic. Dumbledore had used the Fidelius Charm which was a very powerful spell used to hide things or places, to them conceal as secrets. It was an extremely difficult charm that could be used to conceal a secret inside an individual's soul, and this person was called a Secret Keeper. For some reason, the spell hadn't worked on me or Cortana as we both still knew where the house could be found even if neither of us could write down or speak the address since we weren't the Secret Keeper.

I didn't understand how this worked, I could only speculate. It couldn't be because I'd been to the house before as it was a Black family home so the likes of Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange must have visited at some point. Maybe it was because my knowledge of the house was from outside of this universe or perhaps the spell just didn't work against me because I wasn't human. I'd been elevated to a higher state of being when I'd visited the Mall in the Crossworlds and Cortana was an AI so her mind worked differently than that of humans and similar creatures.

Knowing that Order could be working against me as I attempted to improve the Wizarding World according to my own plans, collect some XP by killing Death Eaters, protect myself, and by extension the world-seed, I'd decided that I'd needed to know what they were planning and if I kept sneaking in then sooner or later they'd catch me, so I'd come up something clever.

The wards hadn't prevented me from entering the property and I could move unseen even from the eye of Mad-Eye Moody as it turned out as such I'd been able to enter the house. This was good because not only was I creating a magical map of the house so that I could track who came and went, but I'd also planted listening devices around the house. No doubt Kreacher would have spotted them, but he'd left a while back with Regulus Black.

These small crystals each had a version of the Protean Charm cast upon them so that sounds they picked up could be listened to by a matching crystal which I kept here in the Chamber of Secrets. The crystals only allowed me to eavesdrop as they just worked with sound, but that should be more than enough for my needs.

My inherited memories from Tom Riddle helped me make the crystals as he'd studied the Protean Charm in great detail long before he'd found a way to incorporate that magic into the Dark Mark that he used to control his followers. Hermione Granger also used this charm to create the fake galleons that were used to keep the members of the DA (Dumbledore's Army) aware of the times of their meetings. It was a very useful charm.

I'd even set up a special quill to record anything said when I wasn't hanging around here to hear it. The quill, which was often used by reporters and scribes, knew who was talking just by hearing the sound of their voice, this really made no sense, but magical stuff didn't always have to.

Moody: I've been keeping an eye on the place. I've seen no sign of either Hiddleston since the younger one got home.

That was because I wasn't going near the house while there were people spying on it. If anyone enquired both John and Tom would say that the two Hiddleston's had gone camping together in a few different parts of the country before going abroad as part of an attempt at some male bonding. In my experience, wizarding families were more tightly knit than many muggle ones and enjoyed spending lots of time together as such this cover made sense.

In reality, I'd be going after some Death Eaters and I needed some way to draw suspicion away from Tom Hiddleston. With my ability to listen in to meetings of the Order of the Phoneix I should be able to find out what they suspected and hopefully find ways to undermine any investigation.

Shacklebot: Neither of them has been seen at the Ministry, at least not while I've been there.

That would be Kingsley Shacklebot the Auror. I'd considered informing Madam Bones the head of the DMLE about how one of her Aurors (Tonks hadn't been enlisted yet and Mad-Eye was retired officially) was part of an illegal vigilant organisation. I'd not bothered to inform her because I didn't have any proof and I doubted she'd do anything meaningful anyway.

He was wrong about me not being seen within the Ministry, although to be fair I hadn't been there for very long, and everyone had been distracted at the time. I'd actually brought a copy of the paper for a change and according to a quote from Fudge, he was going with the idea of someone using the Imperius to frame Lucius Malfoy despite my words, because the Malfoy who'd come into his office had been acting out of character. He was still wanted for questioning by the DMLE.

I would have to cause more trouble for the inbred twat if I wanted to see his influence lessen at the Ministry and thankfully I had some ideas about that.

Dumbledore: Tom Hiddleston is in contact with Minister Fudge, but the letters seem to be few and far between. Lucius Malfoy is still Fudge's main adviser, or rather he was. There was an incident yesterday that might have changed that.

I did still need to deal with Mr Malfoy. Hopefully, I would get around to do over the summer if the Minister didn't have him locked up.

Shacklebot: Malfoy is wanted for questioning and seems to be out of the country.

I felt fairly certain he'd gone to pick up his son from Drumstrang.

Dumbledore: Mungdungus have you been able to find out any more about those dark artefact stashes that Alastor and I suspect Hiddleston told the DMLE about.

Before I could read more of what the quill had written there was a flash of light and I span on the spot, took out my wand and almost fired off a stunner before I stopped myself. The person who'd appeared had not done so via portkey or phoenix fire.

"John de Lancie?" I asked.

It did look like the actor and given the year he could have come right here from Paramount Studios.

"No it's me, Loki," said the being.

Well, he looked very different from last time. Less intimating.

"Why are you pretending to be Q?" I wished to know.

Loki smiled at me.

"Whose pretending," he said.

I didn't know if that was a joke or not so I didn't respond. I didn't want to think about if the actor playing Q was actually a trickster god.

"You get your shape-shifting power from me" he reminded "I can take any form I wish".

That didn't explain why he was here so I enquired.

"Overall you've been rather disappointing in terms of pranks and so I've decided to have you run a little errand for me," Loki told me "Not yet, next summer I'll be sending you somewhere to recover one of my lost artefacts. I've been after it for a while and Odin has been on my case about the whole thing. Recently Skuld let me know that my relic will turn up next year over in America and that it be used by a mortal, before going missing again for years".

I knew that Skuld was a Norn in Norse mythology. Along with Urðr and Verðandi, Skuld makes up a trio of Norns that are known as beings who decide the fates of people. The ancient Greeks had their own version involving three sisters who would spin the fates of men like string and decide when the string was to be cut.

"Should you find my relic I will give you immunity to my pranks, you won't have to worry about getting involved in any of my mischief ever again. I will consider myself appeased" I was promised.

That sounded good, too good to be true.

"Is this task of yours dangerous?" I wondered.

Loki made a gesture that didn't give me a solid answer.

"I gave you certain talents in exchange for being one of my angels" Loki reminded "Abilities that make you one of the most powerful beings in this world and you spend your time hiding out in the basement of a school. Then when I offer the chance to have a bit of adventure in a part of the world you've never seen all you can think about is the danger".

To be fair, immortal or not I could still be killed.

"Besides if you refuse I'll just take your powers away," said the trickster

I had no choice then, I needed my Loki given powers.

"Remember I gave you a warning," said the god before he vanished in a flash of light.

Once school had restarted I would need to research more into Loki and find out what kind of relic he might have left lying around which I could be sent to recover. For now, I had a busy summer ahead and other things to focus on.

(Line Break)

Diagon Alley. Wizarding World.

It had been a busy summer for me what with Tom Hiddleston needing to avoid the Order of the Phoneix while taking down Death Eaters. The Daily Prophet had mentioned little else in recent additions other than the strange endings of so many wizards who had either been forgiven for their sins or found some way to get out of having to face their just punishment.

Walden McNair, the wizard who executed magical animals for the Ministry, had died due to being bitten by a runespoor, a three-headed snake, that somehow found its way into his office. People speculated on how that could have happened given that they are normally only found on the black market or in Africa. Rita Skeeter had outright accused the man of smuggling dark creatures into the country so that the Ministry would pay him to execute them. Not that this would have been cost-effective for McNair.

I knew the truth because I'd brought the creature on the black market, snuck into McNair's office and then used my ability to speak with snakes to command it to kill Walden. The poor runespoor would have been put down afterwards had I not been in place to take care of the disposal myself. The magical snake was now living in the Chamber of Secrets in a little habitat I'd built for it.

The only downside to having McNair killed by one of the magical creatures he'd enjoyed getting paid to slaughter by a ministry that treated non-humans so unfairly was that didn't get any XP when he died. That had been corrected when I'd taken out the dark wizard Corban Yaxley. He had been my second victim of the summer purge.

Due to my desperation for some sweet XP, I just stabbed him with my goblin silver dagger which was enhanced with basilisk venom. I'd killed him while hidden under illusions when he was down in the lowest level of the Ministry. That hadn't been ruled out as an accident and it had caused quite the stir at the Ministry since they had no clue who could have killed him.

As much as I wished to I could not forget the Carrow siblings who I'd found in bed together while pretending to be Lucius Malfoy as I'd wanted to frame him for murder by killing one of the Carrows and letting the other one escape alive so that they would go after Mafloy in revenge. I'd ended up killing both of them. No big loss to society as incest is yucky. The female Carrow hadn't even been attractive.

Unfortunately, after that, the other Death Eaters who weren't in Azkaban had gone into hiding including Lucius Malfoy who hadn't appeared on any of my magical maps for a while and wasn't in contact with the Minister of Magic as far as I knew. I felt sure that at least one of them had gone running off to Albina to find Voldemort just as I planned since I wanted the Dark Lord to return so that he could be defeated.

Riddle only had his Horcrux in Harry Potter's head to anchor him to this world and should he be slain again it might not be enough to keep his spirit tied to this world since Potter is not a proper Horcrux. If that didn't work perhaps he could be contained. I certainly wasn't getting anywhere enough XP to reach the level at which the White Magic Spell Raise would be accessible to me.

Even after hunting down Fenrir Greyback's werewolf pack and killing them all while the form of a basilisk, werewolves die like any other creature when they met the eyes of the king of serpents and their curse can be transferred to a human, I only got enough XP to get me up to level ten.

While not as high a level as I would have liked I didn't get some more spells and I was now somewhat resistant to attempts to petrify me. I'd rather avoid getting petrified than have to depend on some sort of resistance, but it was still a nice bonus, and I knew that I'd improved in other ways as well. I felt stronger, faster, smarter and tougher, I couldn't have explained why this was.

I wasn't ready for Voldemort's return, but he was going to have trouble restoring himself any time soon. Most of his Horcruxes were gone and so his soul must be very unstable. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his mind while trying to make a new body and even if he does get a new body, which will be hard to do successfully since I dealt with his father's bones a while back, I might be able to banish his spirit using The Resurrection Stone as I had done when he was possessing that DADA teacher.

Lucius Malfoy retiring from public life had as hoped opened up the way for me to get closer to the Minister even though he believed Lucius to be innocent. I was already being asked to help fund the Ministry, or in other words, fund Fudge's parties. Something that I was happy to do since I had more money than I could ever need and plenty of ways to make more.

"John is that you?" someone asked.

It was a little risky for Tom Hiddleston to go out in public and I knew that as John I was also being tailed by members of the Order, but not very often as they were busy failing to track down the disappearing Death Eaters. As such, I was in my base form while sitting in the Leaky Cauldron and free of concern.

I put down my newspaper, I didn't normally read it and wouldn't be now if not for the fact that I needed all the information that I could get, to see Hermione Granger, who looked different. I'd not seen her for nearly six weeks and she'd noticeable grown into her looks more by now. I assumed she'd had a growth spurt during the holidays.

She was holding what could be thought of as a cat in her arms. I already knew this animal to be Crookshanks the cat she buys during the start of the Prisoner of Azkaban and that seems to aid Sirius Black when he is trying to capture or kill Wormtail, or Scabbers as he is called by Ron Weasly. Despite my many changes to the timeline some things just seemed fated to happen.

"Hello Hermione" I greeted as she sat down at my table "That's a nice pussy you have there. Can I stroke your pussy?".

She couldn't find any words to reply with.

"Do you enjoy stroking your pussy, Hermione?" was my next question.

While she understood that I was joking she couldn't help blushing and since I was worried she might pass out from embarrassment I decided to change the subject. I felt certain that I could come up with more ways to joke about her cat while we were at school.

"You look more mature," I told the young witch.

She couldn't stop blushing.

"I needed all new clothes over the summer and I got some more potions for my hair so it should be more manageable from now," she told me "I had to buy a lot of girls' things as well".

Shame she wasn't a shape shifter it would save a lot of money on cosmetics and she wouldn't have to worry about filling her bra.

"Sorry I didn't visit over the summer I ended up camping all over Europe with my cousin," I said.

Which was somewhat true. I hadn't just been tracking a pack of werewolves I'd also found the giants while taking a look around. I'd figured that they would be worth a lot of XP, but I'd ended up leaving them alone as they were the last of their kind and they weren't bothering anyone as long as they stayed in their caves. If they sided with Voldemort then I'd be forced to deal with them. As tough as they were I could turn into a dragon and roast them if needs be.

"Have you seen, Harry, Neville or Luna?" she asked.

No, as visiting Potter would have let Dumbledore know that I still knew about Grimmauld Place.

"I dropped a present off at Neville's and I'm visiting Luna tomorrow" I answered "I haven't spoken to Harry for a while as we've drifted apart. Even Neville isn't talking to me much".

Since I had records of nearly everything spoken about in Grimmauld Place thanks to my special crystals I knew that Dumbledore convinced Black to talk to Harry about keeping his distance. Unlike when Dumbledore tried to separate us Siruis had the right to do so as he was acting as a parent just as James and Lily Potter had trusted him to do.

Neville was Harry's best friend and therefore must know that Harry was keeping his distance from me. Frank and Alice Longbottom weren't working with Dumbledore as they had back during the Voldmort's day, or at least they weren't attending meetings. The Headmaster had failed to protect them last time so it made sense if they were distancing themselves from the Bright Lord.

I was a little sad that I wouldn't get to hang out with the Chosen One anymore when playing the role of John Hiddleston, but I'd set out to make sure that Potter became more confident and got a happier life, and I'd been successful.

"Oh," said Hermione "Did you duel over the summer?".

I had not.

"My cousin forgot to fill out the paperwork" I mentioned.

I'd not realised that I'd need to register again when I moved up in the league and I knew that I'd be busy next year so there was no sense dealing with the paperwork any time soon. Hopefully, I'd be done with Loki's business before the final match of the world cup as while it was unlikely that any Death Eaters would turn up I wanted to be there just in case they did.

"If the school is doing a duelling contest I'll sign up," I said to Granger before asking a question of my own "Are you here alone?".

I could recall that she stayed here at the Leaky Cauldron before starting her third year, but that was when the Weasly family was here to help keep an eye on Harry after returning from Eygpt, they'd gone in this timeline as well, but they'd not come to Cauldron yet and we still had a couple of days before we went back to school.

"My parents dropped me off," she told me "They're on their way to a conference in America on dental hygiene".

I suspected something less boring-sounding given what I'd seen in their minds.

"Aren't you a little young to be home alone?" I wondered.

Hermione looked upset. Given how she was holding onto Crookshanks I wondered how lonely she was feeling.

"I'm nearly fourteen" she pointed out.

She was old enough to be left at home if her parents were just going out and would be back late, but she shouldn't be herself for a couple of days. Hermione was mature for her age, but she was still a child.

"My cousin isn't around much" I mentioned "And we have a guest room if you don't want to stay at home by yourself. It wouldn't be a bother".

Hermione bit her lip before replying.

"I was going to book a room here," she said.

While this was not the Hogshead or a pub in Knockturn Ally I wouldn't leave a teenager here unsupervised. Some less than trustworthy customers came here and I should know as I was one of them.

"I won't charge you and we can visit Luna together" I offered "She lives in a lovely part of the country and I was planning a picnic with her. I know she wouldn't mind you coming along as she doesn't have many friends".

Luna got on better with Ginny in this timeline, perhaps because the Weasly girl hadn't run afoul of Horcrux in this timeline thanks to me. If the wizarding world ever found out even half of the things I'd done since becoming part of their society they'd be giving an Order of Merlin while setting the Dementors on me for a soul-sucking Kiss.

"There's a nice restaurant in the alley," I told Granger "I bet I can get us a table if I drop my cousin's name".

If that failed I could bribe someone.

"Alright, if you insist," she said

Her trunk must be around here somewhere. We could drop that and her pet at my home in Godric's Hollow and then come back on my motorcycle as there were no laws governing what age you had to be to drive a motorcycle in the wizarding world. There should be, but they let children fly on brooms or magical creatures when they are at school the insane bunch of morons.

"That sounds nice," said Hermione.

I felt bad for the girl so I decided that I would spoil her.
