Meet the Tin Walrus
(Ayla's POV)
*As the three of us walked down the road, we went past a apple orchard. Next to the orchard, was an old brown cottage. We decided to stop & pick some apples to take with us. We had finished gathering a bunch, when suddenly, we heard a groaning sound*
Ayla: What was that?
Sonic: I don't know. I think it came from over there.
*We followed the sound, until we saw something that made us stop in our tracks*
Ayla: It's a Walrus! A Walrus made out of tin!
Scarecrow: You're right.
*I knocked on his chest & then I heard a groan again*
Ayla: Did you say something? *he groaned again & I listened closely* I think he said oil can.
Scarecrow: Oil can what?
*I looked around & saw a oil can on a nearby tree stump*
Ayla: I think he means this one. *I picked it up* Where do you want to be oiled first?
*He groaned again*
Scarecrow: He said his mouth. *he took the oil can & oiled one side of his jaw* Quick, the other side.
*I did that as well & then he started moving his mouth. Soon, his mouth opened*
Tin Walrus: Oh thank God, I can talk again. Could you oil my arms please? *I did just that* Now my elbows.
*I oiled his arm & elbows. Then I moved his arm & straightened out with a loud clang*
Ayla: Sorry. Did that hurt?
Tin Walrus: No. That felt great. I've been holding that axe up forever. Could you oil my legs next, please?
*I then oiled his legs. Then the Scarecrow moved them a little*
Ayla: How did this happen?
Tin Walrus: Well, it was about a year ago. I was chopping down trees, when suddenly, it began to rain. And right in the middle of a chop, I rusted solid. I've been stuck like that ever since. Could you oil my neck please?
*The Scarecrow did just that*
Ayla: Well, at least you're okay now.
Tin Walrus: I wouldn't be so sure about that. Bang on my chest if you think I'm alright. Go ahead.
*I banged on his chest & heard a loud echo*
Scarecrow: Cool echo.
Tin Walrus: It's empty. The Tin Smith forgot to give me a heart.
*The Scarecrow & I looked at each other*
Ayla & Scarecrow: No heart?
Tin Walrus: No heart. All hollow.
*Tin Walrus singing*
When a man's an empty kettle
He should be on his mettle
And I'm torn apart
Just because I'm presumin'
That I could be kinda human
If I only had a heart
I'd be tender
I'd be gentle
And awful sentimental
Regarding love and art
I'd be friends with the sparrows
And the boy that shoots the arrows
If I only had a heart
Picture me
A balcony
Above a voice sings low
Juliet:*off-screen* Wherefore art thou, Romeo
*Just then, I heard a beating sound*
I hear a beat
*I heard it again*
How sweet
Just to register emotion
Jealousy, devotion
And really feel the part
I could stay young and chipper
And I'd lock it with a zipper
If I only had a heart
*He then did a really stiff kind of dance that reminded me of "the Robot". The Scarecrow & I whispered to each other. He then fell over*
Ayla: Are you okay?
Tin Walrus: I might be a little rusty with the dancing.
Ayla: That was cool. You know, you could come with us. We're going to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard of Oz to help us. I'm sure he could give you a heart.
Tin Walrus: Well, what if the Wizard doesn't give me one?
Ayla: Oh, I'm sure he will. We've come this far, we can't turn back now.
Tin Walrus: I suppose you're right.
Scarecrow: To Oz, then?
Tin Walrus: To Oz!
*Ayla, Scarecrow, & Tin Walrus singing*
We're off to see the Wizard
The wonderful Wizard of Oz
We hear he is a whiz of a wiz'
If ever a wiz' there was
The Wizard of Oz is one because,
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things he does
We're off to see the Wizard
The wonderful Wizard of Oz
If I Only Had A Heart - Wizard of Oz
We're off to the see the Wizard - Wizard of Oz
