Hello!

I hope last chapter was enjoyable.

I'll be calling Super Sonic and Dark Sonic Super and Dark. Writing Sonic right after that is annoying.

Warning(s): Angst, mentions of suicide,

Mao hummed softly to himself as he weaved some Sunflowers together. Dark stared with blush on his cheeks. I see why Sonic likes him so much. He thought as he watched the breeze gently blew through Mao's hair. "I finished the first one!" He exclaimed as he held up his crown smiling. Mao hadn't noticed a few Sunflower petals blowing into his hair.

He snorted. "It looks great. I'm kinda struggling with mine, could you help me out?" Mao nodded and crawled closer to Dark Sonic placing his newly made crown on his head. It slid down on one side, but it looked cute. Mao giggled. "Hmhm.

I guess I made it too big."

"Nah, it's fine."

Eventually, after they finished making flower crowns, Dark Sonic placed one on Mao's head as they walked back. Mao hummed to himself as he skipped merrily. The navy hedgie laughed at how childishly adorable Mao could be. "We're back~!" He sang, only for him to trip and drop the flower crowns. Luckily, the navy hedgie grabbed them before they hit the ground. Mao stood up balancing himself and grabbed the crowns smiling and saying a quiet thank you to him.

Mao turned to Fleetway and Super. Super was talking to Fleetway, while he was ignoring him. Fleetway looked at Mao and sighed annoyance lacing his tone. "Finally. Super wouldn't stop talking." Mao giggled and walked up to Fleetway. Fleetway grumbled and crossed his arms as he allowed Mao to put the crown on his head.

Mao smiled. "Perfect." He said. Then he turned to Super. Super bowed dramatically as Mao placed the crown atop his head. Super stood up and smiled. "I love it, thanks."

Mao smiled. "I'm glad!" He said as he sat the fourth crown on the table at the empty seat across from Fleetway's. "Who's the fourth one for?" Super asked. "The fourth guy. You said he comes out at night right? I'll give it to him then." Super smiled at the boy. "Alright."

Mao rubbed his eyes, trying not to fall asleep against Dark, trying not to fall asleep. "Hmhm, Aw, are you tired?" He asked. "You know you can go to sleep if you want to," Mao whined. "But I wanna give him his crown.." Dark chuckled.

"I know, but you've been awake all day long. Get some rest and we'll try and convince him to come out so you can give him his crown. Mao yawned once more. "Okay.." He said, falling asleep against Dark's warm body.

The next morning, Mao felt completely refreshed. He tried to get up, but couldn't due to the death grip Dark had on his slim waist. "Dark, Can you let me go? I wanna give Sonic his crown!" Dark grunted and shifted in his sleep. "Dark.." He called out in a whiny voice.

"No.." He sleepily mumbled. "Dark.." He whined again, nudging the navy hedgie. He grunted and shifted once more. Mao sighed as his ears lowered. "I need to get up.

I'm all sweaty.." He murmured. "Stop calling my name.." Dark mumbled. "Dark! Let me go!" He whined.

Super's ear twitched hearing the boy's whining. He peeked his head out of the vines draping over the branch he was resting on. "What's wrong?" He yelled. "I need to shower but Dark won't let go!" Super sighed and chuckled. "Let him go,"

Dark groaned and rolled off of Mao's lap. "You're no fun." He said opening his eyes to look at Super. "The poor boy just wants to shower dude." Mao gasped. "You were awake?!"

"Yep." He said popping the p. "You're mean!" Mao yelled with a pout. "I know." He responded. Dark snorted.

"Where can I bathe—" Mao cut himself off when seeing gigantic multicolored things that looked much like flowers that haven't opened or bloomed all over the vines draping the trees. "What are those?" He asked pointing to one of the unbloomed 'flowers.' Dark looked up. "Oh, those. They light up the forest once it gets dark.

The lights are beautiful at night." He said. Fleetway snorted. "You can see? Honestly, you never fail to surprise me Dark." Dark sighed and closed his eyes.

"You're so funny that I'm not laughing," Dark said, sarcasm lacing his voice. "Um— So— Can one of you take me somewhere I can bathe?" He asked, interrupting Dark and Fleetway's death glares toward each other. (Not gonna lie, Dark Sonic still traumatizes me to this day—)

"Sure! I—," Super paused seeing the glares the other hedgehogs gave him. "We can take you there now. It's back here, follow me!" He exclaimed.

Dark was distracting himself by playing with the grass while Mao cleaned himself. Fleetway was practically eating him with his eyes, and Super gave him a disapproving look. Dark sighed. "No wonder you're still single. You have no self-control." Fleetway scoffed and turned to Dark. "So?

I don't require anyone else in my life unlike you two and the blue annoyance." He spat. "So if Sonic were here to hear those words come out of your mouth right now, you wouldn't fear the consequences? If anything, it'd be good that the townspeople don't have to fear us anymore. Your mere presence scares them." Fleetway laughed bitterly. "Really?

Me? Don't act like you didn't nearly kill that damned Eggman and scare your friends? Even now, they still fear you. Don't act like you're better than me just because you've controlled' your issues. If anything, you're worse." Dark growled and grabbed Fleetway's throat, catching him by surprise as he held him in the air. "Go ahead, go back to your old ways murderer."

Dark snarled as his grip on his throat tightened. Fleetway's twisted smirk increased. Super flew down and immediately separated the two. "What the hell is wrong with you?! Both of you!" He yelled. Mao turned around to see what the yelling was about and saw that the black mist increased furiously.

Fleetway was rubbing his sore throat and Super was absolutely outraged. Mao swam over to them and folded his arms on the grass, resting his chin on them. "Is something wrong? I heard yelling." Mao asked. Super glared at the two and then turned back to Mao. "Don't worry about it,"

Super said, his expression softening some. "I'll go talk with them. I'll only be a minute okay?" Mao nodded. "Alright." Then the three left. (With Super pushing them.) Mao sighed softly as he rested his head on his arms.

"Okay, what the hell is up with you two?!" Super yelled as he let them go and pushed them. Dark scoffed. "Me? What about him? He's been starting shit these last two weeks!" He yelled pointing at Fleetway.

Fleetway had his attention on something else though. "Um—" Fleetway was cut off by Super. "You had some part in it too! You're egging him on by responding! Sometimes you have to learn to ignore some people!" Fleetway kept his attention on the vine sneaking up to them, or thinking it was.

"Sup—" He attempted to get Super's attention on the vine sneaking behind him. "And you!" Super yelled, turning to Fleetway who had his gaze on the vine that had now frozen in place, now going limp. Is it pretending not to be conscious? He asked himself.

"Damn it Fleetway! Are you even listening to me?" Fleetway turned his attention to Super. "Sorry what?" Super sighed and his eye ridge furrowed. "Nevermind, forget I said anything." Fleetway was confused.

"Wait what'd you say? I didn't hear you! Honest!" He yelled attempting to get the golden hedgehog to come back. "Forget it!" He yelled back.

Super smiled at Mao who was twirling a piece of grass in his finger. "Are you enjoying yourself?" He asked. Mao looked at him and smiled. "Yeah!" Super chuckled. "Good."

Mao had an idea. "Hey Super, come closer." Super did so, but very, very cautiously. Mao leaned closer and kissed his nose. This flustered the golden hedgie. Mao giggled and flicked some water onto his face making him snap out of his trance. Super grinned, a playful glint in his eyes.

"You're on!" He yelled chasing after the boy who was swimming away giggling.

Sonic sighed softly as he rested one of his hands on Mao's. He looked back at the unconscious male, who was breathily quickly, and heavily. His face was covered in sweat, there was a cold wet cloth that had to be changed frequently since Mao's body was absorbing the cold so quickly. His cheeks were tinted red. He'd never seen Mao look so distressed. "Please wake up soon. We're worried about ya."

He said and stood up to leave, hesitantly removing his hand from the others. He then left, his face full of worry. He hadn't bothered to hide it. He and Mao had gotten very close. He'd be upset if Mao suddenly— No! He can't think like that!

He has to think positively! He has to. For his friends. They know him as the cocky blue blur, so that's who he'll be! Though, what if Mao never wakes up? What if he dies or something happens to him? "Jeez Sonic, what's gotten into you lately?

You have to think positively." He told himself as he paused in his stride to leave. A sudden sense of dread filled the air. "Maybe.. Maybe another night in the hospital won't be so bad.. Yeah. For Mao."

He said as he walked back into Mao's room, closing the door behind him. He sat in the chair beside Mao's bed as he rested his head on his arm which was on the bed. His other hand rested atop Mao's. "Please wake up soon.. I... ..need.. you.." He murmured as sleep consumed him. Then he fell asleep.

Sonic awoke, to find himself sitting at a table. "Oh. Where are they? It's weird not to see them arguing over Uno. Or Poker." He said with a snort. He stood up and stretched.

His ear twitched hearing familiar laughter. Sonic's eyes widened. Is that.. His thoughts were confirmed when he saw Mao running out of the woods laughing. Soon he stumbled and fell. Sonic just stared. But how..?

I thought I was the only one who could Super who was chasing after Mao stopped noticing Sonic. "Oh Sonic, hey!" He greeted. Mao looked up and stood up dusting himself off. "Hi, Sonic—" He was cut off by the blue hero hugging him.

"Oh!" He squeaked. "I'm glad you're okay." Mao looked confused. "Of course I'm okay! Why wouldn't I be?" Sonic hadn't dared to look up at him.

Sonic was silent. "Sonic?" Mao felt wet spots on his sweater. "Sonic?" He asked concern lacing his voice. "We're so worried about you! You can

Y-you'll come back right?" He stammered, his voice breaking. Mao sighed and kissed the top of Sonic's head. "Of course I will, It'll just take time okay?" Sonic nodded still looking down. "Sonic? Please look at me."

He pleaded in a soft tone. After a few moments, Sonic looked up. His emerald eyes were filled with worry, fear, and sadness. The sight of his teary eyes made Mao's heart pang. He gently rubbed his thumb on Sonic's soft muzzle. "I'll come back. I promise, but you'll have to be patient."

Sonic sniffled and nodded. "Oh, come here," He said, holding his arms out for a hug. Sonic wrapped his furry blue arms around Mao his head buried in his chest. Mao smiled softly, gently patting Sonic's quills. "Don't worry. It'll be alright." He said placed another kiss on Sonic's head.

Sonic awoke to yelling. Sonic stood up and stretched. Suddenly regretting his decision to stay in the hospital after all. He went over to Mao's door and opened it. His friends were arguing. "Amy? What's wrong?"

He asked the pink hedgehog who was more pissed off than ever. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked. Amy launched herself onto him. "Are you okay Sonikku? I found out Mao was the one who hurt you. Did he hold you captive those three weeks you were away?"

She asked. "I can't believe I'm friends with that monster—"

"He's not a monster! He said that he feels bad. He was healing us during those three weeks. He made sure we were okay. He just wanted to protect his forest. He didn't mean to. It's just like with Knuckles when he first met us.

This is all just a misunderstanding." Knuckles nodded. "I agree, it isn't his fault. He just wants to protect what is most precious to him. I can tell that he truly cares for Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. He must be willing to sacrifice it all to make them happy." Amy looked at Knuckles in disbelief.

She turned to Rouge. "D-Don't you think he's guilty? He hurt Shadow!" Then she turned to Blaze. "A-And you Blaze! Aren't you angry at him?" She asked.

Blaze sighed. "Amy, I understand you're upset, but you can't pin the blame on him. Yes, he hurt them, but it doesn't mean he wanted to." Blaze said. "I can't believe you're taking his side!" She said and stormed out of the hospital.

Sonic rubbed his arm in shame. "Sorry I didn't tell you. I just wanted him to have a fresh start." Sonic said as his ears flattened guiltily. "Don't apologize, we all understand where you're coming from. When your friend wakes up, tell him I want a sparring match with him." Sonic nodded. "Yeah. Thanks, guys."

Bonus:

Mao sighed softly as he played with the water in the pond. I wonder if they found out about what I did to Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. He thought. A bitter smile came to his face. "They probably hate me now." Mao then laid down on the grass staring up at the blue sky. "Maybe...

Maybe I should never wake up. I can just stay here." Mao closed his eyes a smile coming to his face. "Yeah. Then maybe Sonic will be happier if I just disappear."

"Forever."

I know, I know, sad Chapter today.

I confessed to my crush and she rejected me, so, expect some sad chapters.
