A bright light...
That was the last thing he remembered, before everything went black and he found himself lying on the grass in a place unknown to him.
Everything seemed okay at first, but the more he became aware of his surroundings and noticed how unfamiliar everything looked, the faster his panic rose up in his chest.
He didn't even know how he got here in the first place. The memories - up until the moment he woke up here - were gone. Nothing. A black empty hole was burned into his memory and Silvy feared the worst.
What if he wasn't alive anymore?! Did something unfortunate befall him, that made him wake up here all alone? Could one even remember the details of what happened after they died? Was that why his memories were so fuzzy?
The more the tiny hedgehog thought about it, the more his fear grew. And without a second thought he got up in a panic to look for answers. At least his motoric skills were still functioning properly, even if his memory seemed to be failing him.
"Alright, just don't panic... You just have no idea what's going on, it's gonna be fine!" Silvy tried to calm himself, but he noticed immediately that it was of little use.
"It's...it's gonna be fine.."
The hedgie let out a deep sigh he didn't know he was holding.
Sitting here and panicking wouldn't help him, he had to admit that to himself. It would probably be better if he took a look around. Perhaps the surroundings seemed familiar to him after all. Even if he couldn't exactly brag about his shitty sense of direction. Worse, he would even get lost in his own house if it wasn't already familiar to him.
His steps were rather uncoordinated, as he cautiously walked up to a tree, peeking out from behind the oak shielding him from any curious eyes.
He was in a park. He could say as much. But it wasn't the one in his hometown, but a completely different one that he couldn't even recognize from Emerald City or Saphire City.
Where in chaos name did he end up here? And above all...how? No matter how hard the little hedgehog tried to remember, he couldn't explain any of this.
One more step and he finally stepped away from the tree he had been hiding behind for so long.
The park itself was beautiful, with dozens of flowers, a huge fountain, and plenty of benches to sit on. And despite that he walked towards the fountain and sat down.
While his legs dangled over the edge and the hedgehog let his mind wander, he took another very close look at his surroundings. But nothing seemed familiar to him at all.
Not the dozens of skyscrapers that towered above him or even the people who walked past the park. Everyone minded their own business and didn't even seem to notice the lost little hedgehog, sitting all alone by the fountain.
Did it really happen so often, that a little boy was somewhere all by himself, that no one cared about it anymore?
Slowly but surely, Silvy's courage faded away, just like the sun did from the sky. It made the hedgehog look up in worry. It was getting late and sure to be getting dark soon. His parents didn't even know where their son was...
His phone!
Silvy wanted to smack himself in the face. Of course, how could he have forgotten his phone?!
Hastily searching through all of his pockets, he eventually found his mobile phone - and in his haste almost dropped it - but catching it last minute, before the device could meet the ground.
He would just call his parents and then hopefully be a little smarter...
Though as soon as he turned on the phone screen, he knew something was off: no missed calls, no messages, no nothing. Didn't anyone miss him?
To make matters worse, he didn't even seem to have network.
His phone had a not-so-subtle way of showing him that.
"What the...?"
Completely lost, Silvy stared at the words "No network" that his phone rubbed into his face. The tiny hedgehog let out a loud whimper.
With trembling hands he opened his contact list and tried dialing his mother's number. But nothing happened except loud beeping and the hedgehog bit his lip while dialing his sister's number next. When that didn't work either, he had to admit to himself that he was in big trouble indeed.
A barely suppressed sob resounded.
How was he supposed to contact his family, if his cell phone didn't work? What was going on here? Where even was he? How did he get here? How should he get back home?
He just couldn't explain any of this. As much as he tried to put all the pieces together and explain the situation to himself, there was always that one piece that didn't fit and left a gap. Like a missing puzzlepiece.
If only he could remember! He could just vaguely remember leaving his house. Then there was the bright light, that had burned itself into his mind, and from there it was just blank.
At least he had the vague guess, that something else must have happened between leaving his house and the light. But what exactly that was, he just couldn't remember. The hedgehogs only hope was, that his memories would come back and that rather sooner than later.
Plus Silvy wondered whether he had been alone at the time in question. Maybe one of his friends was there too and was now stranded in the same place as he was. But if that was the case, he wondered how he was going to find them.
But at least one thing was clear to him: he was in a predicament, from which he had no idea how to get out of.
If he had someone with him, surely this situation wouldn't be half as bad. His friend Shaddy would probably know how to handle this and even in the rare case he didn't know what to do next, Silvy could at least rely on the black hedgehog to protect him.
The mere thought of his self-proclaimed big brother, made the little hedgehog's heart grow heavy. Certainly the older one was worried about him and Silvy didn't even know how to reach out to him to tell him he was doing okay.
A light wind blew through his spines, making the hedgehog look up at the orange colored sky. The park seemed to have been swept empty. Surely most people were going home now, but... where should he go?
He would like to go home, sure, but where was that? He didn't know where he was and strangely his GPS didn't seem to be working either. He found that out the hard way, when his location app wouldn't even load a map.
He was definitely lost...
Scanning the area, Silvy looked for some clue, some landmark, anything, but once again nothing seemed familiar.
He most likely had to accept the fact, he was in a hopeless situation. Having to sleep on a bench tonight and hope that he survived this unscathed. Then tomorrow he would be looking for answers and...
Wasn't that Amy?
Hopeful the little hedgehog got to his feet, standing up on the fountain and hastily letting his gaze wander back to the point, where he thought he had seen the hedgehog girl before.
A supposedly married couple...
A presumed young adult...
THERE!
Pink quills on shoulder-length, a hair band, the three quills on the forehead...that could only be Amy! No one else that he knew had a hairstyle like that.
In mere seconds, Silvy was excited to get down from the fountain and rushed outta the park in such a hurry he hadn't seen himself in before. But he had to hurry, otherwise she would be gone!
There weren't even that many people left on the streets, and yet the hedgehog had trouble avoiding all the passers-by. And yet he was getting closer and closer to his goal. Any second now, the wanted person stopped at a traffic light.
"Amy!" Silvy squeaked most excitedly and would have almost fallen flat on his face, if he hadn't caught himself last minute. With his little tail wagging wildly behind him, he looked up and didn't even notice how the person in front of him stared him up and down, more than just merely confused.
"...Silver?"
"Finally I've found someone I know! You have to help me, please. I have no idea what's going on here and I'm starting to get frustrated!" the little hedgehog cried out, tugging vigorously on the girl's arm and ignoring the befuddled stares sent his way.
Despite being more than slightly confused, Amy allowed herself to be pulled away from the traffic light and to a more quiet place.
The little guy...looked like Silver, seemed to answer to the name too, but...that couldn't be her friend from the future, right?
He was so *small* and...since when did the time traveler wear clothes? Something didn't fit into the picture here, she noticed immediately.
"I need your help, where am I?!" said squeaked out desperately, but now that he looked closely at his counterpart, he seemed to notice something off too.
"Amy...? When did you get so tall?"
Silvy immediately let go of his fellow's arm, ears flattened in fear. That wasn't his Amy...? She was so tall and yet...she looked so much like the Amy he knew.
The hedgehog girl on the other hand remained silent, while she studied the little one closely for the second time that day.
Golden eyes, the ridiculously looking crown of quills...
That could only be Silver, though surely not the one she knew?
"...Is your name Silver?"
A soft nod.
"...Where are you from?"
"Um...Emerald Town," came the quiet, almost inaudible answer, the little hedgehog seeming unsure all of a sudden.
"Oh" Amy knew right away that this couldn't be her Silver because, as far as she was aware, he wasn't from Emerald Town. To be quite honest, she didn't even know the name of the place where Silver came from. For her it was basically enough to know, that the older one came from the future.
"Alright...how did you get here? ...And what are you doing here?"
When asked, Silvy sullenly bit his lip and just shrugged.
"Well shit."
At that moment the hedgehog girl realized, that this problem couldn't be solved as easily as she first thought. However the child got here, it must have been an accident. But who would she be if she didn't help a child in need?
With her grip tight on the bag of groceries she was carrying, Amy pondered how to proceed.
She definitely couldn't leave the little one alone. He didn't seem to know his way around and what if something happened to him? Absolutely not!
It would certainly be better if she took him home. From there she could think about what to do next. Assuming the gray hedgehog trusted her enough for that...
"Silver?" she asked softly, cautiously reaching out to pet the little one's head who didn't flinch at the touch. A pair of golden eyes looked up at her, with Amy giving the little one her friendliest smile.
"I'll help you, but you have to trust me for that. We'll go to my house and then we'll see what to do with you, does that sound good?"
Did that sound good? Not really.
Silvy's mother had taught him not to go with strangers. But...was Amy really a stranger? This Amy might've been a little different from the one he knew...but it was still the pink hedgehog girl he knew from home.
Nodding timidly, Silvy hoped that the girl could actually help him. Amy was his last hope, otherwise he didn't know what to do. In his eyes it was better to trust the girl, than to spend the night on a park bench.
"All right, then let's go! It'll be fine, I promise."
With that, Amy held out her hand, which Silvy took after a moment's thought. Both hedgehogs made their way home together, while the smaller one looked around curiously and inspected every little flower and corner.
It was nice here, he had to admit that to himself.
"Hey Amy?"
"Hmmm?" The girl's head whipped sideways to look at Silvy, who seemed a little uncertain.
"What's the name of this place? Where are we?" he wanted to know, whereupon Amy smiled softly at him.
"Does the name 'Station Square' mean anything to you?"
Silvy shook his head almost automatically. No, he'd never heard of "Station Square" before. If anything it just raised more questions in his mind.
"Do you live here?" he now asked, though Amy shook her head.
"In Station Square? No, not directly." They turned a corner. Slowly all the skyscrapers and endless buildings came to an end. They must have left downtown.
"But...where?"
Silvy had already thrown another question at Amy's head, before the kid could stop himself. He was starting to wonder if he was getting on her nerves, but the girl remained friendly and even giggled slightly at the question.
"I live a bit wayward from the city," she answered. "It's not far, I promise."
With an understanding nod Silvy absorbed the answer. Only now did he start to wonder how old Amy was and if her parents thought it was okay, that she just took a complete stranger home with her.
At first he wanted to ask her...but then decided it was inappropriate and just kept it to himself. Maybe another time when they knew each other better...
More minutes passed as the two hedgehogs walked hand in hand down the sidewalk in comfortable silence. Silvy even preferred it like this, because that way he could take in every little detail of his surroundings in full.
At least until the sweet silence was broken.
Amy's ears perked up when her cell phone rang. Even Silvy looked up with not just a small amount of curiosity.
Humming the hedgehog girl quickly fished her phone out of her jacket, answered the call and prepared herself for the worst.
"Yes, Tails?"
The gray hedgehog pricked up his ears twice as much now. Tails? That was his best friend! But...if his logic was correct, then this Tails was another one and not the one he knew.
His joy dissipated a little, though he still looked at Amy expectantly when she ended the call and put her cell phone back into her pocket.
"Okay, we have to hurry up a little, we're expecting guests. My friend Tails told me, he and Sonic found something!"
Sonic? Even more other versions of his friends?
Silvy would have stood there and wondered for much longer, but he didn't have time to think about it, as Amy grabbed his hand tightly and mercilessly pulled the gray hedgehog after her, who squeaked in surprise but couldn't help but follow the girl home.
Hopefully this nightmare would stop soon and he'll know what's going on!

Hey hey!
Welcome to the official rewrite of my fanfiction "Universes"! After much thinking I finally decided to rewrite the fanfic and change it a bit.
Starting with making the names a bit clearer. So the Silver from my AU is now called "Silvy" and AU Shadow "Shaddy". All characters from the canon universe will of course keep their normal names. I hope it's a little clearer now.
I hope you like the new version so far and that you will be back for the next chapter.
Thanks for reading! 3
