Chapter 3

Ebony's good day was suddenly turning for the worst. Raising her hands together in front of her, she had just enough time to shield both herself and the stranger, as the rocket went straight for them. The sudden force pushed them back, but the magic kept them protected. However, looking at the green shield around them, it was cracked in places. Another shot would end the magic in an instant.

In that moment, Ebony stood her ground and shot out the golden rays of Adeeza back at the gorillas. Both of them were only staggered by the shot, but it was enough time to grab hold of the stranger by the arm and make a run for it, running through the rocket smoke.

What are these goons doing here? Ebony thought to herself. It had been a while since she last saw Omen's henchmen. But if they were here, where was Omen?

Hearing the gorilla's anger and hearing the metal clanks of machinery after them, both women ran down the street. Suddenly a quick wave of shots speeded past them; only just missing their heads due to bobbing down. Ebony was able to quickly turn around and see their pursuers were gaining memento, as the small machine continued to fire. As one of them ran down on all fours, the other took their large arms and swung in-between the tall buildings. In panic, the stranger released Ebony's grasp and suddenly took another route.

"No, not that way!" She cried out.

The feline watched as the bat took one path, while knowing the way, Ebony took the other. However just as they did, the gorillas decided to take different routes as well, with the Red gorilla chasing down Ebony. Cursing, the animal was chasing fast after her, not giving her enough time to cast another spell. Using both his large hands and feet, the brute was able to gain momentum. The only thing she could think do was to send an SOS.

Rising her hand into the air, she unleashed a sudden burst of magic that shot right up; just high enough to reach the sky over the tower block of buildings. A sudden boom echoed around the area, like a firework. But this didn't slow down the gorilla from gaining on her as she could hear the screeching sounds of his twin arm saws on his robotic armour. She hoped her friend got the message…

Meanwhile, the elderly gentleman made his way back to his destination. Looking up at the sun, he wiped away the sweat on his forehead, for the outfit and heavy beard was causing some heat problems.

He had only one more job to do and he was homebound, happy that soon he would be able to get everything off and breathe. As he headed to the next shop, he had bought one last thing for work, until his eyes caught something in the sky.

Some of the animals stopped and pointed out a blast in the sky. Some of the nearby children yelled that it was a firework, while their parents were a bit confused as to why a firework was being set off during the day. The elderly man looked up and instantly felt a thud in his chest.

Looking up, the firework exploded to reveal a yellow boom of spirals. Everyone around him thought it was beautiful, the man however looked at it with worry. Wasting no time at all, he kindly asked the stall man to hold his stuff, promising he would come back for them. But before the stall man protested, he was already gone in a flash.

Running through the streets, no one backed an eyelid to see a fast-speeding elderly man running down, as he was too fast for their eyes to see. Hoping he wasn't too late, he jumped up high and raised himself up to the rooftops. There he could see the distress signal clearly as he dashed to whatever danger he was going in…

Desperate, Ebony skidded and ran down to a smaller alleyway. The cobblestones were a mesh of uneven cracked stones, but knowing the space was small, this would slow down the gorilla due to his enormous size. As she carried onwards, she couldn't hear her pursuer following her. Hoping not to trip over the cobblestones, she dashed back out into another street. However, looking around, the gorilla was nowhere to be seen. Until she felt all her fur stand on end.

Gasping she only just had a moment to move out of the way as the massive saw only just missed her by an inch from above her, hearing the terrifying scream of the weapon near her ears. She jumped away as the brute landed down with thud; as he must have reached over the roof to cross over the small alleyway. Reaching his other arm out however, Ebony was caught by surprise and was captured by her waist. She screamed out loud as she felt the arm tighten around her, the saw attached to it starting to rev up.

"Let go of me!" She cried out, placing both her hands onto the metal frame.

Confused, the gorilla watched as the feline cast another golden ray straight onto the armour. The boom shock, threw both of them away, crashing to the ground. Wobbly and dazed, Ebony quickly got back up and winced from the sudden pain on her shoulder. But she didn't have time to rest as the gorilla also got up; the magic hardly making a dent. Desperate, Ebony moved onwards down the street.

But from the confusion, she had lost her bearings and suddenly once again, the streets conjoined and both Ebony and the bat collided again. In unison, they could only take the one path leading to them. However, to their dismay, it was a dead end.

Ebony looked at the other woman and stood back as she spread out their wings from under her cloak.

"Sorry love, but got to go." The woman waved as she jumped up high.

But before the feline could call her out, a bullet darted straight towards the bat and hit her by the wing. Screaming out, the bat fell downwards into a heap of household rubbish. Ebony tried to get her up, but she was dazed and hurt by the blast. Looking back at her, the gorillas were able to regroup and now, Ebony knew the situation was a lot worse.

Ebony was exhausted from the chase and the bat was clearly out of action. She had enough to fly away, but she couldn't leave the bat behind. The green armoured gorilla focused his rocket on both of them, while the red armoured gorilla, adjusted his black cowboy hat. Its shiny star attached, glistened in the sun.

"Well, well, well brother. Seems we're getting quite a bargain here. Long-time no see Kitty! The boss would love to see you again."

"Well, he'll have to make an appointment and sadly, I'm fully booked" Ebony hissed back at them.

"Doesn't matter. All he wants is that stone. And he's more than happy to get it; if you live or die!" The gorilla shouted out, storming towards the girls with his large razor saws.

Ebony was left with no choice. Rising her hands to come up with some sort of barrier, she had to be ready for the attack. The gorilla charged at her with ferocious speed. Her heart was beating hard against her chest as she was exhausted as well as terrified.

She waited for the impact, as the gorilla jumped up and raised his saw machine above her head …

But then she heard something dash above her from over the wall. Looking up, she saw something came down hard on the gorilla from above. Distraught, the animal was sent flying backwards as he lost his balance. His brother looked confused and couldn't stop his comrade flying backwards into him. Both animals fell down with a thud, their weapons hitting hard on the ground.

Both of them annoyed, pulled themselves up to see where the attack had come from. But they were more confused to see no one but an elderly animal. They couldn't tell what type of animal it was, due to its large overcoat and full-face beard. All they could see where the sunglasses. The man however stood in a stance in front of the women, raising the wooden stick up ready to attack.

"What the heck! Who is this granddad?" The green armoured gorilla shouted.

"Never mind that, let's get them together!" The red armoured gorilla replied, even angrier now.

The street was just big enough for both of them to lunge an attack. The figure kept his position, until the last moment as both gorillas struck down on him in unison. But then as they moved away, he was nowhere to be seen except for the rubble on the ground.

"Where did he go?"

But then they suddenly saw him in the middle of both of them. But as they tried to get him, he had suddenly vanished behind them, but not before smacking the stick over their heads. The stick left a bump on their heads, as both gorillas started to get angry. But every time they tried to reach him; he was suddenly somewhere else. Both of them shouted at each other, that their arms or weapons were in the way. But every move they made; another whack of the stick landed on their heads.

"Will you stand still!"

"Quit moving you little pipsqueak!"

The gorillas were that agitated with him that they didn't even bother about the girls. Ebony rose up from her cover to see both of the animals were fully concentrated on him. Looking down near the rubbish, the bat was still dazed as she rubbed her head. It was now or never.

With them distracted, Ebony had enough time to store the magic within her, concertinaing on the enchantment. But then she gasped as she heard shots in front of her. The green gorilla was getting desperate and starting to shoot his machine gun at him. The man instead moved backwards, away from the girls. Both gorillas turned their back on the women and lunged another attack on the man. She knew he was running out of time.

"Stand still you little cretin." The green armoured gorilla roared at him.

But then it was the red armoured gorilla to turn around to see Ebony. There in that moment, the brute only just realised what was happening. But before he could cry out the warning to his brother, Ebony's magic was ready.

"Super; jump!" Ebony cried out.

With enough power and a straight on course down the street, Ebony unleashed the rays of Adeeza straight towards them with full power. Both gorillas felt the impact and this time, felt its strength as they flew down the street. The man saw the blast just in time, but instead of fleeing, he speeded towards them. Confused, in a state of slow motion, they watched the man jump on top of both gorillas, twisted around in mid-air and suddenly coiled up into a ball. Spinning faster, the old animal landed straight down and joined in the attack. With the magic and the dash combined, both of them were sent flying with ferocious speed.

The gorillas were sent flying, straight towards one of the red-bricked buildings. Bricks exploded in every direction as they created a massive hole in the structure, feeling the constant bricks landing on top of them. Coughing from the dust, the gorillas managed to get up. But to their dismay, some of their armour was badly damaged as flickers of electricity sprouted out from the metal parts.

Looking back, they saw the old man in a stance, with his staff raised high.

"Who the heck is this geezer?"

"Who cares? I'm gonna blast him!" The green armoured gorilla shouted out, aiming his arm towards the small group.

One of his rockets was still activated and ready to fire as he looked through his radar scan eye patch. Now with enough space between them, and the dead end behind the small group, they had nowhere to run. But suddenly a gust of wind shot right down towards them. Startled, he saw the man suddenly straight in front of him. Confused, he triggered the switch for the rocket, but nothing was working.

Then he looked at the man, with the rocket in his hand. But then his stance changed as he took off the sunglasses. Suddenly both gorillas watched in confusion as he started to change. A blur of lines and colours faded away from the long white beard, the coat disappeared and the stick evaporated. As the sunglasses finally were moved away, the white hair was replaced with golden yellow quills, red and white sneakers and white gloves.

There stood in front of them was a very angry yellow hedgehog. His red spiral eyes never left them as he raised up his hand, breaking the rocket in two in front of them. Both gorillas were left terrified to see the weapon simply dropped to the floor.

"Is that...?" The red armoured gorilla stammered to say, pointing directly to the hedgehog.

"Let's get out of here NOW!" His comrade shouted, switching a tiny device on his armour.

Suddenly his armour let out a small tiny ball in front of them. Then a large dust explosion covered the whole area. The hedgehog moved away in case it was another attack. Waving his hands however to see, he was annoyed as the two large brutes were nowhere to be seen. They had completely vanished…

Rouge was coming to, feeling the throbbing pain on her head, and trying to steady herself up. Dazed, she had no idea what was happening around her, but as she moved her wings, she felt a sharp pain coming from them. Touching it delicately, she winced from the pain. But then she focussed around her surroundings.

The feline looked exhausted, as she had kneeled on the floor. There was a large dust cloud surrounding them, but moments later it had evaporated. Someone was coming out from the dust, straight away heading toward the feline.

"Are you alright?" They shouted as they reached for her, pulling her up. She could detect worry in his voice.

"Well, that was adventurous afternoon." She said, trying to catch her breath.

"Who's she?" Rouge saw their saviour ask; now looking straight at her.

"That I want to know myself". The feline spoke turning around.

She tried to get up, but her strength had simply vanished as she felt the pain from her wing. But then she stopped as a hand was presented to her. She managed to look up and was suddenly frozen on the spot. Silently, she looked up to see that the hand belonged to none other, then the raging demon himself. Super Sonic.

"Are you alright?" He said calmly to her, showing a smile.

But all Rouge could do was simply look at him with horror and confusion. Just what trouble did she land herself in now?

Omen was furious.

Not only did his associates return empty handed, but now he was informed that Ebony was in the picture. As he looked at them with confusion and frustration, he was explained that Ebony had a friend, the one that was in the newspapers recently. Being described to him, Omen stroked down his long thin beard, thinking.

So, it seems Ebony had made a powerful alley he thought. He knew the monster Super Sonic from Robotnik's old records. He was certainly someone to be careful with. And if Rouge was now in the mix, she had built herself quite a strong fort between them and the stone. He had to get his hands on it, but how?

Using his magic, the hands trailed to form a map in front of him. The tracker spell he had placed on the bat was still activated, however to his annoyance, he saw that her location was heading towards a café. Who knows what protective spells the feline had placed there.

Hopefully she had no clue that the sorcerer had placed it on her all this time but with Ebony in the mix, things may be more complicating. As the gorillas went to repair their armour, Omen continued to work out a plan.

He had to get the stone somehow, and was willing to do ANYTHING.
