Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Web of Storms. Enjoy the 2600-word chapter. I don't own Sonic; Sony and a few others do.
He leaped onto the rooftop and stared down at her with an interest. She waited inside the complex. The Iron Fortress. Her domain, her land, where she reigned as mistress of her clan.
"Is there no stopping you from trying to stop the Raiju clan?" He heard and held his hand into the air. "Then this will be the end of your path. We cannot condone this. If you win? Then we will support this and oppose the doctor's reign in this kingdom. If not, then they will see it as a rouge member of the Gossamer Clan acting beyond the best wishes of the clan." He also heard which was greeted with a bow.
There were traditions and he'd be going against a few if he walked this path. He had chosen it anyway. If he did not try and take a stand? There would be nothing left to fight for. They could brand him a coward, but nobody could say he wasn't at least going to try.
"Do what must be done, brothers. I must face this trial by myself or there will be no worth." Springer stated before he shook his head.
He couldn't rely on them anyway. They were going against an entire clan. Even if the entire clan was to stand against the Raiju? They'd bring in the other 2 clans who had wished to stay out of it. His goals were both noble and selfish, doing either meant he didn't care for his fellow clans or their traditions and customs. That was a lower blow than anything the Bride of Conquering Storms could claim if he didn't temper his desires for vengeance.
"Then we wish you good luck on your self-given mission, Springer. May you conquer the fortress of tyrants and cut the head of corruption to pieces. We must inform the mistress of this and prepare for any fallout on this self-given assignment and prepare for whatever may come from this." Springer heard as they left.
He nodded and stared into the city. This had to end before too many lives were lost, it had become had happened when it came down to it. It had become a lot harder to handle what he had done. There was more riding on his actions than there was any reason to.
"And good luck to you as well, brothers. Former or otherwise? You are still close comrades and I shall cherish your company." Springer said before he leaped down and into the valley.
He did not turn to see his former friends had left. He did not need to consider they will aid him. Springer was well aware of the fact they wouldn't consider this. War was one thing, but the destruction of their entire home? No, that was a goal even he would be disgusted by if he was to be truthful.
Yet he could not falter. He had made his mind up. She worked for the doctor and her plans threatened the entire city and beyond if he hadn't stopped her. She was also too confident not to see she had backed herself into a corner if someone breached the fortress. There were no escape tunnels, no, that implied the Iron Queen and King would be willing to face the enemy properly. It had to end this way.
This had become a lot more interesting to them as both started to realize what was going to happen next. It had been a lot hard to happen when it came to this.
"Now to get inside," Springer stated as he flipped downwards. "There will be far more soldiers, more of her henchmen who wish to prove themselves," Springer stated before he looked at the dozen or so Raiju soldiers outside the area.
"So many soldiers and yet so little tactical skill for someone you'd think would be a little tactical when it came down to it," Springer stated before he seemed to be more interested in the second. "There are more soldiers and yet no elegance, no real motive or plan rather than the seizing of power," Springer stated before creeping forward.
He clicked his tongue against the roof of the mouth. There were soldiers, not many besides the 12 he counted, but he expected more considering the Raiju clan wished for power. One couldn't gain power without skill and numbers. Power like that was only going to be gained in proper combat and the application of proper talent. She was none of these things, not unless she was hiding at the time.
He glanced around the area. There were a lot more soldiers here than before. He didn't know if they had been trying to blow this out of proportion, or if they had simply forgotten that they were fighting a kingdom. It wasn't going to be easy, nor would they enjoy it. This was going to be harder than anything they had faced before now. This was going to be more treacherous than anything or anyone they could bring to heel.
Still? If they had an entire army? They'd be unstoppable. He couldn't let her command power on this scale, not if nothing was stopping them, nothing slowing them down at the second. She was going to be dangerous and if he hadn't stopped them? They'd slowly consume the rest of the planet.
'Eggman doesn't think someone with an army this big is going to be dangerous and cause any problems? Because we both know there are going to be problems no matter what.
There will be too much on the line if they failed here. Too much on the line if he didn't try something and fell short. He couldn't, he wouldn't. they had to win this sooner or later. It was going to be a far more insane thing when it comes down to it.
He watched them, one of the soldiers scanning in his direction. He cloaked and melted into the shadows, looking towards the soldiers above who seemed to test him, try and drive him towards the mission. They had the advantages when it came down to it.
He'd hit them harder, shattering them until they backed down. They couldn't be allowed to win, nor escape this sentence either way.
He sighed and looked around, far more bemused than anything. She didn't train these guards well, she probably never even expected them to get far enough to be considered threats to her or anyone else. They'd be defeated one way or another. He was honestly curious as to the second.
He rolled his eyes to himself and only questioned how best to get past the soldiers. There was to be time to grieve sometime soon. Anything more and he'd scream and lose himself in the madness.
Then again? Madness seemed pretty good to the insanity that could be called his mind.
"INTRUDER!" He heard as he rolled his eyes himself. "Summon all of the guards!" He also heard as he sighed and started to click his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
This was going to end, one way or another. He'd shatter them like glass either way.
He flung himself up towards the platform before he looked at the soldiers of the clan. If they wished to serve their nightmarish master? He'd honor their devotion and send them into the afterlife to greet their fate with their master right behind them. This was going to end.
He flipped onto the platform and stared at the soldiers who had started to come down to battle him. There had to be more than a half dozen all approaching him with different weapons in a semi-circle. It was going to be a lot more interesting to see if more came. He guaranteed that more would come, there had to be more reinforcements if she had an empire.
And if he was going to stop their master, he couldn't just sit here and wage war with the pawns whom she had at her disposal. She had to be beyond them and they wouldn't stop him, not if he was going to smash through them.
One of them came at him, he didn't know it was a sword or some sort of dagger. It was so hard to tell with what weapons they hit him with. He wasn't going to let it stop him anytime soon when he thought about it. There was honestly too much to bear, too little was going to be going on at the moment.
He blocked a punch from one of the soldiers before he flipped into the air, looking down at them all, they tried a lot harder than he expected to stop him.
Conquering Storm had become more of an obsession with what to do next. There was a lot more on the line before this came down to it. He'd be a lot more curious at the time if not for the idea that this had been a rather hard time for him to deal with at the time.
This was going to do when it comes down to it. he either stopped her here and destroyed whatever reign she'd hold over the rest of the region… Or he died and this became rather pointless as of the moment, something he'd understand quite well before too long.
Another sentry almost landed a kick to his jaw as he dodged it before too long. He tossed the soldier to the ground before turning and elbowing the next. They had numbers and as much as he HATED to admit it? he'd be outmatched sooner or later in this category.
And he knew if he couldn't save enough strength to take her down? Then he would have failed already when it came down to it. he had to strike harder and faster than he had before. There was no other way.
The former Gossamer clan soldier fired a web that pulled him towards the other side of the complex. He felt the air around him whistle and crackle as kunai and shuriken were hurled his way before he questioned himself before too long. There was far too much that couldn't be handled as of the second.
He flipped onto the column, staggering in place as he forgot to stick the landing perfectly. He sighed to himself before he hummed and started to question himself if he had been intelligent enough to handle it. This was going to end sooner or later.
Another blur of motion, he barely escaped the soldier behind him who attempted to dive down on him. It made him blink and gave him pause for only a few moments.
He somersaulted past another two sentries, kicking their legs out from under them before long. It made him remember that he was just as much capable of losing as they were.
He had to be faster, much faster than he had been, not give them a chance to try and maneuver around him before this was all said and done. The second they found a weak link in his defenses meant the second they found a way to kill him.
"Hmm," Weaver stated before glancing around. "You're well trained, more than your mistress is. I'd doubt she'd praise you as anything other than mediocre." Weaver stated as he looked around before while this seemed to question.
Still? there was far too much at stake for him to fail… Nor had they to fail when it comes down to it. They had a master to please and he had people depending on him. He knew neither would he nor they could fail when it seemed to happen at the end of the day.
He could not afford to get distracted at this point being. This was no fun for the time being. He couldn't afford to get sent backward as of the second before he tilted his head.
There was a lot more to question as of the time being when this was all said and done. Anything as of the time being.
It was a lot more interesting to him how she had been curious as of the time there was a lot more to question the time being.
Still? if that was the matter? Then that was what he had to do next. It was little that he could do to change that and he knew that more than anything. If it wasn't obvious? There was more to the puzzle than he had seen as of the time being. It had been something fun for the time being when all was truly said and done. It needed to be done before now.
Still? that couldn't be left up to chance. Her power was long since now. anything else would be a mistake on his part not to take her seriously and fight her as a possible threat. It had been something that he had left to chance.
It had been something that he couldn't leave to chance. It had been something that needed to be done for the time being. He needed to be ready for anything she could throw at him before now. This had been something to be proud of for the time being. it had been something fun for the time being. anything else besides their fight when it came down to it. there was nothing to this besides the small idea that she had gone too far.
It had always been too far for her. The lure of power was something that couldn't be said and done before now.
Had to be stated that he didn't know the idea behind this. It had been something grand and glorious for the time being when all was said and done. It was cool as the time is to think or do.
He had to stop her before she destroyed something else. If he didn't? well? The entire region would suffer. It would burn to a crisp under the yoke of her control as of now. This would be a day that he could say or do.
It had to end today by his hand or else the entire system would end before now. if not? For the entire region and its people. He had to be willing to handle the enemy on his own and prove he was capable of this at the end of the day before now.
He just knew there was to be hell to pay either blasted way. They had been ruthless so far… And he had no real sign that he could afford to pull his punches on them either way.
If he was honest to himself? He'd need to be willing to fight before now. This was to be something fun and exciting for now. It'd be a lot worse if he was honest. A lot more interesting at least when he considered it.
Still? Not even trying to him was worse than being dying with not. This was going to be oh so interesting if he was honest to himself…. What he did know was they were more dangerous than they looked.
He knew there was more to this than he expected at the moment.
