Chapter 1: Speeding Up to Ten Years
10 Years Later, Green Hills Montana:
Behind a Welcome sign, there is a Green Hills Sheriff's Department Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor patrol car sitting beside the road.
In the car, there is a man named Tom Wachowski. He has short brown hair, peach skin, and clear blue eyes. He wears a beige and black police uniform, sometimes with a brown clip-on-tie, and a pair of sunglasses. The patch for his agency is sewn on the sleeves just below the shoulders.
He is the police sheriff of Green Hills. As of now, he is holding a speed velocity gun, trying to find speeding drivers passing by his speed trap. So far, there's no one in sight.
Tom says to himself, "Come on, one car?"
Tom shakes his hand a little, from holding the radar gun for a little long. Out of boredom, he begins to mess around with it, acting like he's trying to catch a speeding driver, only to have his face smashed against the radar gun.
He puts it aside and says, "I'm bored!"
Just then, Tom hears the radio, and hears a man's voice say, "Tom, do you read me? Are you there?
Tom grabs the microphone and answers it back in a joking manner, "No, Wade, I'm actually on a yacht in Barbados." He pauses slightly and says, "With Rihanna."
At the police station, the man's name is Wade Whipple, another police officer. He was also wearing a beige police uniform. He has peach skin, short brown hair, and blue eyes.
"O-M-G," Wade says, surprised.
He clears his throat and says, "That's amazing. Please send pics."
Back to Tom, he says, "No, Wade. I'm at the speed trap."
"Already? How did you get back so fast? Barbados is in the ocean!" Wade says, still at the station
Meanwhile, Tom notices something, "Hang on, I think I got something."
Tom takes out his radar gun and aims to see a slow-moving turtle. Then the device beeps, and it shows the target speed of the turtle is 001.
Tom calls out, "Hey, buddy! Where's the fire? Got kids living around here!"
The turtle doesn't take much notice and continues strolling along the road.
Tom smiles and says, "I thought it was kinda funny. Sorry."
Tom takes off his sunglasses just as a speeding speck of blue light passes his patrol car. Then the radar gun beeps. Tom soon notices that the target speed is now 296.
"What?" Tom says, confused.
Tom then checks the radar gun. As Tom checks out the speed, a being with green eyes and blue fur sticks from above the car to see the radar target speed. Tom looks out to see any cars, but nothing. Just then, a red and black object speeds right past the car, setting the radar gun off again. Tom looks to see that it's 300 this time. As Tom fiddles around with the radar gun, two hedgehogs, one blue, and the other black and red look at the monitor. They both give each other a high five to see the score and run off. Tom then looks around again to see no one is around.
However, Tom departs from his police car and walks along the road, pondering on the situation. He then walks over the grass to notice something blue and something red. Tom kneels down, and picks them up to inspect them. Tom looks to see the objects he picks up seem to be two different hairs. One of them is blue, and the other is black with red at the end.
Just then, Tom hears Wade on the radio, "Tom, we need you down on Main Street. There's been a violent gang shoot-out."
Soon enough, Tom leaves in his patrol car, with his emergency lights blazing.
Wade: laughs and says, "Just kidding. A duck stole a bagel. But they do need it back."
Once Tom is gone, the turtle from before continues to slowly stroll across the road, and doesn't notice the oncoming truck approaching it. Before the truck can crush the turtle, two specks of light: Blue and black and red, speed past and the turtle is gone.
Those two specks of light are Sonic and Eve, who have grown in the past ten years.
Sonic is now wearing mismatched sneakers that were completely worn out; a left greenish-gray sneaker and a right white trainer with a wristband around it, and white gloves.
Eve is wearing her white gloves like Sonic, along with gold wristbands on her wrists and ankles, the gold necklace with the gold heart around her neck, and the blue headband. Eve is wearing a red worn out shirt, with a black vest, and black tights, and worn out mismatched sneakers, one is red and the other is blue with white soles. Her hair is also different, she now has six quills on her head and they're all downward. Eve is holding the turtle to see that it's okay.
Sonic walks over and says, "Whoa, buddy! You almost got yourself killed out there. What are you, some kind of adrenaline junkie? It must be rough being slow all the time."
"I'm glad to see that it's okay," Eve says, and gently pets the turtle on its shell.
"Sonic then says to the turtle and takes it into his hands, "Tell you what. Today is your lucky day."
With that, Sonic speeds off at full speed on the road. Eve then follows after him. Being held in Sonic's hand, the turtle is enjoying the ride.
Sonic cheers, "Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Have you ever felt so alive?!"
Then Sonic does the airplane impression with the turtle in one hand, "This is great! You're doing amazing!"
Then the turtle flies out of Sonic's hand.
"Oh, geez!" Sonic replies.
But then Eve runs back to retrieve the turtle and runs back to Sonic.
"Good recovery!" Sonic says to Eve.
Eve giggles, "Thanks Sonic, but remember to be careful.
"Alright. Last one back is a rotten egg," Sonic says.
"You're on," Eve says.
With that, Sonic and Eve speed through the foothills.
Sonic shouts, "Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!"
Eve screams" Yeeeee Haa!"
A little time later, Eve sets the shaking turtle back on the ground.
"I hope you enjoy the ride little guy. And now you're safe here," Eve says.
"Let's keep this our little secret, okay? You never saw us," Sonic says.
Then says in a mysterious voice, "We were never here."
Sonic and Eve then speeds through the woods at top speed. The two hedgehogs then curl up into balls and speed inside a tree trunk. They soon bounce off the beanbag and land on the ground safely on their feet.
Sonic and Eve soon begin to do their own activities. Sonic is having a blast. He mimics a singer, doing calisthenics, playing guitar, and jumping rope by himself. Eve brushes her hair, draws pictures, sings through a broken microphone, and writes stuff in her notebook.
Sonic (Narrates): So what did you expect? Two dirty little hedgehogs eating berries and struggling to survive? Think again.
Sonic is swinging on a tire swing as he strums a fake guitar.
Eve (Narrates): Because Sonic and I are living our best life on Earth.
Sonic is reading a comic book called Flash, while Eve is reading a manga called Inuyasha. Sonic speed reads his book while Eve decides to take her time in reading her book.
Eve (Narrates): We've got a library.
Sonic is running in a washing machine and uses it as a treadmill. Eve has a crash test dummy and performs attacks with a plastic katana toy.
Sonic (Narrates): A home gym…. and a state-of-the-art security system.
Sonic is wearing a headband as he holds nunchucks. He waves the nunchucks around until he hits himself in the face.
Soon, Sonic and Eve are both playing ping-pong together. The two hedgehogs are fast with their hits. They are both having fun, until Sonic trips and knocks down Longclaw's ring satchel to the ground, and several rings and a piece of paper spills out.
Sonic panics, "Oh, no!"
Sonic quickly gathers up the rings and places them back in the satchel. Sonic then opens the paper to reveal a map.
Sonic (Narrates): And if I'm ever discovered, I'll follow Longclaw's instructions and use my Rings to escape to a new planet.
And Sonic holds up a ring to the map.
Sonic (Narrates): A nice, safe world filled only with mushrooms.
Sonic then tosses the ring and it opens up to a portal to a planet full of mushrooms.
Sonic (Narrates): Gross, smelly mushrooms.
Sonic looks annoyed and says, "I hate mushrooms."
Suddenly, Eve places her hand on Sonic's shoulder. Sonic turns to see Eve who is holding a sad smile on her face.
Eve (Narrates): It was very hard for the both of us, especially since it was just the two of us.
Sonic (Narrates): Yeah. I was forced to leave my guardian, while Eve is still unable to remember who her family is. I still have the rings and map Longclaw gave me.
Eve (Narrates): Meanwhile, I still have the necklace with her name, the blue headband, and those gold bracelets for her wrists and ankles.
Flashback, 10 Years Ago:
A few days after Sonic and Eve first meet. Sonic and Eve talk to each other with a smile. Suddenly, Eve runs as fast as Sonic as they play, and can practically perform the same moves he can. However, she shows that she can create a bubble force field and other abilities.
Sonic (Narrates): I must admit, I was very shocked to see Eve with incredible powers. I feel that we made a connection. Of course, we mainly see each other as siblings.
Flashback Ends, Present Day:
Sometime later, Sonic and Eve speed towards the ledge of Foothill and overlook Green Hills to see the beautiful landscape.
Sonic (Narrates): But let's not worry about all that! This is Green Hills, the greatest place on Earth.
With that, the two speed off into the city. Soon, Sonic and Eve are now watching the people around the neighborhood from the roof of one of the buildings.
Sonic (Narrates): These are our people, and, dare I say, we're their lovable space creatures.
Eve (Narrates): Well, I wouldn't say that we're their lovable space creatures because we always stay hidden away from them.
Sonic (Narrates): So what if they don't know they exist?
Eve (Narrates): I suppose you're right."
Meanwhile, Tom is eating a donut as he is on his patrol.
Sonic (Narrates): My favorite person is the Donut Lord, protector of this town and defender of all creatures, big and small."
Soon, Sonic and Eve see Tom halting traffic in order for a group of ducks to walk across the street safely.
Tom then talks to the ducks, "Morning! Donald, Daisy, Daffy."
Eve (Narrates): Yeah. He is really kind to everyone.
Then, Sonic and Eve are now at Tom's residence to see his wife named Maggie. She has brown skin, a healthy build, long black hair and brown eyes. She is wearing a white tank top with a purple sports bra, and is taking her laptop into the backyard.
Sonic (Narrates): Donut Lord lives with Pretzel Lady. Who is also Eve's favorite person.
They soon see Maggie practicing Yoga as she watches from the scene.
Sonic (Narrates): She is super nice to animals and strangely was born without bones.
Eve (Narrates): I think she's doing yoga, Sonic. It's a form of exercise, and is very flexible because she has longer legs.
A short distance away, Sonic and Eve are hiding behind some bushes and replicate Maddie's pose.
Sonic feels the pain from it, "Ouch, ouch, ouch."
He turns to Eve to see her not feeling any pain from doing the pose at all
Next scene shows a middle aged man with white hair and beard, peach skin, and green eyes. He is wearing a white long sleeve shirt with a brown vest. He then shows crude drawings of Sonic and Eve, which look terrible in front of some people, and they laugh hysterically.
Sonic (Narrates): There is one person in town who's actually onto us. He calls me the blue devil!
Eve (Narrates): And he called me the Red Witch. And no matter what he says, everyone just laughs it off. Even Donut Lord didn't believe him.
Carl says to Tom, "I almost caught them last night.
Flashback:
One night, Crazy Carol has traps set all over the place for Sonic and Eve.
Sonic (Narrates): Say hello to Crazy Carl.
Soon, Sonic and Eve zip by the trap, setting off every trap, and not being able to catch either one of them. Crazy Carl growls in frustration.
Sonic (Narrates): We have fun together.
Eve (Narrates): A lot of fun together.
Soon, Crazy Carl ends up setting off his own trap, and now is hanging upside down in the tree.
Crazy Carl calls out, "I know you're out there! And I know you're real!
Fainly, Sonic calls out, "No, we're not!"
Later on in the night, Tom and Maddie are sitting on the couch with their dog, Ozzy. A golden retriever, who possesses golden fur. He also has a black nose, droopy ears, and brown eyes.
Sonic (Narrates): Movie night is my favorite.
Sonic and Eve rise from behind the window to see the movie.
Sonic crosses his fingers and closes his eyes, "Please, please, please, please."
Sonic opens one eye to see the movie title 'Speed,' appears on the television screen.
Sonic cheers, "Yes! Keanu! You are a national treasure."
On the TV, the character, Jack says on the phone., "When I find you-"
The screen changes to a character called, Howard Payne says on the other line, "Pop quiz, hotshot. There's a bomb on the bus."
"'Pop quiz, hotshot.'" Sonic softly says to himself.
He makes a chef kiss gesture, "It's a classic line."
Eve shushes Sonic, "Sssssshhh. The movie's getting food.
With that, the two continue to watch the movie, from behind the couple.
Sonic (Narrates): Basically, we're like a family. Even though we haven't met yet.
Next scene shows Sonic dressed like a psychiatrist with glasses, holding a clipboard and pencil.
He begins to speak in a German accent, "You don't zink your prolonged isolation is making you a bit crazy, perhaps?"
Meanwhile, Eve pretends to be the patient, "Crazy? Me? No way, Doc. You got me all wrong."
Sonic continues, "And despite all these so-called friends of yours." He takes off the glasses, "deep down,"
He sadly sighs and says, "You're still rather lonely?"
Sonic and Eve still remain watching the film, until they decide to take their leave. Before leaving, they have one last look through the window. They show small smiles on their faces as they watch the couple enjoy the film.
"Perhaps afraid you'll be alone forever?" Sonic question.
Sonic and Eve frown sadly, knowing that they can never join them, or any human for that matter.
