Chapter 7: Car Chase Fight

The next day at the Piston Pit, Dr. Robotnik's truck is parked outside of the rest stop and wonders about installing a new window for the bar. At the same time, Robotnik and Agent Stone are interviewing the bar patron from the night before, including the thug from that night.

"Did he say where he was going?" Agent Stone questions, as he holds a picture of Tom.

The thug who has a neck brace on takes the photo and says, "Maybe. Maybe not. Like I'd ever tell you." Then hands it back.

Robotnik gently pushes Agent Stone aside, "Stand down, Agent Stone. This well-meaning citizen obviously doesn't understand the urgency of the matter."

The thug then stands up and looks Robotnik dead in the eyes, "Really?"

Robotnik then gives the thug a smug grin on his face. And then hurls the thug out of the window.

"Now that's what I call good cop, bad cop," Robotnik states as he and Agent Stone leave the bar.

Robotnik then holds his hand out and Agent Stone is about to give him a high five, but Robotnik punches him in the abdomen instead.

"Hoi! Left yourself open," Robotnik says and walks away as Agent Stone gasps for air.

Robotnik and Agent Stone soon return to the truck interior.

Robotnik walks to the controls and says, "Judging by the quickest route to San Francisco, the approximate speed of their vehicle and local weather conditions…

He then messes with the control panels "they should be… right about… here."

On his monitor, the images of the road zooms and shows Tom's truck on the tracking device.

"That's brilliant, sir," Agent Stone compliments.

"Thanks…" Robotnik says.

Then whispers, "for nothing."

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Siskiyou County Line, Sonic, Eve, and Tom are still driving to California.

Sonic turns to Tom and asks, "So, what's on your bucket list?"

"Who, me?" Tom questions.

"Yeah. Everyone has a bucket list, right?" Sonic replies.

"Well, sure, but, I mean, you're the one leaving Earth, and I'm not planning on dying anytime soon," Tom says.

Sonic chuckles and says, "Don't be so sure. Your best friends are a magnet for danger."

"More like you," Eve says, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, are you anointing yourself as the bestie?" Tom questions.

"Mm-hmm," Sonic says.

"A little presumptuous, but- I mean- What, no- I-I like you, of course, but, you know, we're not best friends," Tom says.

But Sonic says, "You tucked me in last night."

Tom chuckles.

"Fine, fine, fine. Best animal friend," Sonic says.

But Tom says, "That would be my dog, Ozzy."

"You mean that big dog?" Eve asks.

"That's the one," Tom says.

"I actually think he's kinda cute," Eve says.

"Glad you think so," Tom says.

Then Sonic says, "Okay. Let's drop this increasingly humiliating topic of conversation. Bucket list. Give it to me!"

"Okay, there is one thing," Tom replies.

Then explains, "In Green Hills, I've always felt, I don't know, more like a babysitter than a real cop, you know? So I want a chance to prove myself, under real pressure. I'm gonna move to San Francisco, become a street cop. And, I don't know, see if I have what it takes."

Tom looks over to see Sonic whose jaws drop open in shock. Eve is shocked herself, but is also deeply confused.

"What? Why-why are your faces doing that?" Tom asks, confused.

"You're leaving Green Hills?!" Sonic asks, shocked.

Annoyed, Tom says, "Okay."

"B-B-But why? Why would you leave Green Hills?" Sonic asks, stunned.

Remaining calm, Eve asks, "Yeah Tom, why are you leaving?"

"This may be hard for you to understand, but Green Hills is a small town. It's a very small town," Tom says.

"Small?" Eve says, confused.

Then Sonic says, "Uh, it's not small! There are hundreds of people."

"That's a small town, dude!" Tom says

Then Sonic says, "It's a perfect town, and the people need you."

But Tom says, "Please, I clean out their gutters, I jump-start their cars in the winter. They could call anybody to do that."

"Sure, they can call anybody, but they don't. They call you," Then Sonic says, sounding upset.

Meanwhile, in Robotnik's truck interior, Dr. Robotnik begins to set up his plans to capture the two hedgehogs and Tom. Robotnik raises his hands and activates his holographic computer screen. Robotnik watches the road to see Tom's truck.

He looks at the holographic images as he says, "Eeny, meeny, miny… Mayhem!"

He then selects the robot of his choice. He then presses the buttons and messes the panel of the controls.

Put on the road, Tom's truck is still on the road, and a mysterious black truck, really one of Robotnik's machines, is tailing them. Just then, the machine begins to set itself up to catch up to the truck. The red robotic eye of the robot begins to zoom in on her.

Back in Tom's truck, Eve's ear begins to twitch as she hears a strange sound coming from behind her.

Eve asks, "Uh guys, do you hear something?"

But the boys ignore her.

Sonic says, sounding upset, "You're not making any sense!"

"Would you calm down?" Tom asks in frustration.

"You come from a great town with great people and, by my count, zero bad guys trying to kill you!" Sonic says, upset.

Unknown to Sonic and Tom, the drone car is catching up to them.

Back in the truck, Eve hears it more clearly. She looks at the back of the truck to see the black drone coming towards them from a short distance away.

Eve turns to the boys, "Uh guys. I think…"

But Sonic is too busy getting upset with Tom, "Besides, what could possibly be more important than protecting the people you care about?"

Tom tries to think of an answer.

Meanwhile in Robotnik's truck, Dr. Robotnik initiates a weapon for the drone car. Out of the hatch over the red robotic eye is a harpoon.

Eve quickly brings out her binoculars and looks to see a harpoon appearing from the compartment of the truck. Eve gasps in shock."

Just then, Tom says "Look, I get your poi-"

Eve shouts, "YOU GUYS!"

Sonic and Sonic turn to Eve and shout, "WHAT?!"

Just then, the drone car fires the harpoon straight through the back of the truck and catches the dash car, making the three yelp in fright.

In Robotnik's truck interior, Robotnik shouts, "Yeah!" seeing that he has caught them.

And with that, Robotnik activates the drone car's winch and begins to pull Tom's truck slowly towards it.

However, Sonic turns to Tom, clearly upset with him, "You know what? I was wrong about you. You're not the Donut Lord at all! You're more like… the Jerk Lord!"

"Sonic, now's not the time to worry about that. I'm not too happy with it either, but we have more things to worry about!" Eve says. She then grabs the harpoon.

"And have you noticed the harpoon stuck in our dash?!" Tom adds, angrily.

Tom then slams on the gas pedal and the harpoon starts to come loose. Eve's pulling on it helps lose it more. Soon, the two trucks head towards a curve, and Tom's truck slams into the traffic breaker, knocking Sonic out of the truck, and onto the windshield.

"Sonic!" Tom and Eve cry out.

Sonic is able to grab hold of the windshield and begins to shout, "I was forced from my home! Your home is perfect, and you're leaving it! Why would you do that?!" Unknown to Sonic, blue electric energy is being exposed from Sonic's body.

Eve spouts, "Sonic, calm down!"

Then Tom shouts, "Your body!"

Sonic looks down to see what's happening, just like last time, "Oh, no, no, no, no, not again!"

Tom then shouts, "Hey, hold on!"

"Why!" Sonic exclaims.

"Because I'm gonna do this!" Tom says, and slams on the gas pedal again.

This time the harpoon lets go of the dashboard and Sonic goes flying over the truck. Sonic quickly curls himself up and performs a spin dash and runs into the drone, and releases an electromagnetic pulse that knocks the drone car on its side. Tom quickly turns the truck around and drives back to Sonic. Then stops the car where the drone has been top sided.

Tom calls out, "Sonic!"

"Sonic!" Eve calls out.

They soon notice Sonic curled up in a ball.

Tom calls out, "Sonic!"

"Sonic!" Eve calls out.

Sonic then uncurls himself and slowly gets up, groaning, "Guess I had a bonus life."

Eve jumps off of the truck and rushes to Sonic.

She helps Sonic up and asks, "Sonic, are you alright?"

"I… I'm good," Sonic says.

He then notices the drone and runs up to it.

He soon cheers, "Oh, yeah, baby!" and performs a funny dance, "Sonic, one. Big tank, zero. I'm sorry. Did we get that on camera?"

Tom calls out asking, "How are you not dead?"

"I have no idea! Do you see me dancing?" Sonic answers.

"Yes, I saw you dancing," Tom says.

Eve begins laughing to see Sonic dancing.

Sonic then turns to the drone, "Is that all you got?!"

In his truck interior, Robotnik says, "No, but thank you for asking."

He then begins to use the controls.

Sonic and Eve soon notice the drone is doing something.

"Uh-oh," Sonic says.

"That's not good," Eve says.

Tom calls out, "Sonic! Eve! Get back in the truck!"

But Sonic calls out, "You go! We'll catch up!"

Tom then drives the car away from the scene as Sonic and Eve zip back to the truck and climb in. Eve quickly closes the door of the passenger side.

Back at the drone, it deploys a smaller car drive and drives off to catch the truck.

Sonic notices it, "I think that tank just had a baby."

The smaller drone continues to drive towards the truck as it prepares its weapons for an attack. It then had some strange disks and speed towards the truck.

Eve shouts, "Incoming!"

Tom swerves the truck to avoid the disk, and the disk is heading straight for the minivan.

Inside the van, there is a boy and a girl fighting over a tablet as the mother puts on her makeup and the father drives.

The father shouts, "Hey, stop fighting or I'm taking that thing away!"

"Yeah, right, Dad," The girl says.

Just then, the disk attaches itself underneath the minivan and releases an electromagnetic pulse, sending the van spinning on the street until it comes to a complete stop. Then Tom's truck drives past the minivan.

Just then, Sonic and Eve climb to the trunk of the truck.

Tom turns his head back and asks, "Where are you going?"

"Just drive the car. We'll take care of this," Eve says.

Then Sonic says, " And if we don't make it, just ditch us. You seem good at that."

"Sonic!" Eve sternly scolds.

"What?" Sonic asks.

Sonic and Eve look from the back of the truck to see the drone firing multiple of those homing mine disks. The two hedgehogs then hop off the truck and towards the homing mines that's been launched. Sonic grabs and throws one, and begins skating on two of them. Eve speeds fast and energizes her left hand as it creates an energized speech. As skating on the two mines, Sonic grabs one as he hopes on to the smaller drone car.

He lowers his head to see the robot's camera, starting imitating a streamer, "Hey, everybody! Welcome back to my livestream!"

Robotnik becomes infuriated to see Sonic's face.

"Today, we're destroying robots! Step one, errrap!" Sonic then slams the homing mine down on the smaller car, and the electromagnetic pulse sends it veering off course.

Eve then throws her spear as she shouts, "And for good measures!"

The spear then slams right into the drone and makes the electromagnetic pulse stronger. Then the drone comes off course and crashes into the hill. Sonic and Eve soon return to the van.

Sonic cheers, "Yes, we did it!"

Just then, eight smaller one wheeled drones come out of the drone and continue the pursuit.

"We did not do it," Sonic says, in shock.

Then Eve wonders, "Who is this guy?"

In his truck interior, Robotnik questions, "Ever wonder where your tax dollars are going?"

Back at the truck, Eve climbs on top of it.

Tom calls out, "Eve, what are you doing?"

"Going to give myself some target practice," Eve answers.

Eve then holds out her right hand, and clutches it as red energy flows around and creates an energized bow. Eve then uses her other hand to create an energized arrow. She positions the arrow on the bow and pulls it back like a real bow and arrow. She aims her energized weapon at one of the one-wheeled drones and fires it. The energized arrow hits a bullseye on one of the drones, causing a magnetic pulse and crashes into the ground.

Tom turns to Sonic, "I didn't know Eve could do that."

"There's a lot she can do with that power of hers. And this is when Eve gets serious," Sonic says.

Eve then continues to create energized arrows in her hand and fires them with her bow, and pierces them at the drones.

Inside the truck Tom says, "My turn." And unbuckles his seatbelt, "Here, just keep us going straight. I put us in cruise control."

Tom and Sonic then switch seats.

Sonic is excited to be at the wheel, "Ha-ha, I feel just like Vin Diesel!"

Tom brings out his flashlight as Sonic says, "It's all about family, Tom."

One of the segway robots brandishes sharp spiders on both sides of the wheel as it catches up to Tom's truck. Tom opens the door and prepares to attack. He swings his flashlight at the robot to get close to the wheel, but the robot dodges.

Just then, Sonic says, "Quick suggestion. Roll up into a ball and smash him with your body."

"Whoa! Where'd you learn how to drive?!" Tom asks, shocked.

"Here, in this truck. It's happening as we speak!" Sonic says, holding some papers.

Sonic then swerves the truck to dodge the robot. Tom tries to hit the robot, but it keeps dodging. Eve uses her arrows to fire it at another drone. And now, they only have one drone to deal with.

"I can't reach it! Bring him in closer!" Tom calls out.

"What?" Sonic asks.

"Bring it in closer! Hit the brakes!" Tom calls out.

"Oh, you mean this one?" Sonic says, and presses the pedal.

But the car speeds up.

"That's the gas pedal!" Eve calls out.

Then Tom shouts, "The other brakes!"

Sonic steps on the breaks, slamming the drone against the door. Tom sees the opportunity and swings his flashlight upward, knocking it over.

Seeing the robot down, Tom shouts. "Ha-ha! Whoo!" And climbs into the truck.

Eve does the same.

In the interior, Robotnik shouts in frustration, "Ohhh! Give me A big! Fat! Break!"

Just then, the last drone ends up seeing the last robot in its disposal, it looks like a small helicopter. And soon, it catches up to Tom's truck. Tom is now at the front seat, driving the truck.

Sonic soon notices it, "Aww, this one is cute. Let's keep him."

Just then, the helicopter begins slicing through the truck's metal, and working its way around the window frames.

Tom shouts, "Oh, come on!"

"How could something so adorable be so terrible!?" Sonic exclaims.

"When it's made by that wacko who is trying to smash us with robots! Yeah, I can imagine!" Eve says.

Soon, the small drone has almost cut around the truck.

Sonic turns to Tom and asks, "You've got car insurance, right?"

Soon, the whole window frame comes loose and flies off, causing the three to scream. They turn to see the frame crash on to the street. The helicopter drone flies close to Sonic.

Sonic grabs it and says, "Buzz off." And yanks it off the body.

But now the core is stuck to his finger and it begins to beep.

"That doesn't sound good," Sonic says.

"No, beeping is bad! Get rid of it!" Tom shouts.

"I'm trying!" Sonic says, and tries to shake the bomb off his hand.

"Throw it out the win- throw it anywhere!" Tom cries out.

"I can't get it off!" Sonic cries out.

Eve grabs Sonic's hand and tries to pull the bomb off, but it's not working.

"It's stuck!" Eve says.

She pulls it harder, "I can't get it off!

"All right, I'm pulling over!" Tom says.

Tom acts fast and pulls over and drives a little ways. Sonic hops off the truck and tries to get the bomb off his hand. Sonic then notices the bomb is no longer in his hand.

"Did I get it?" Sonic asks.

But Tom and Eve notices the bomb on Sonic's forehead.

"No, it's on your forehead," Eve says.

Tom then runs to Sonic with the handkerchief, "Here, hold still."

Tom then pulls the bomb from Sonic's head and throws it away.

"It's going, it's going…" Sonic says.

But notices the bomb on Tom's hand, "It's still here."

Tom notices the bomb on his hand and tries to shake it off. Eve quickly grabs the bomb and has it on her hand. Sonic then grabs the stick and tries to pry it off of Eve's hand with it.

Sonic angrily says, "Get off of her!"

Finally, Sonic is able to get the bomb off of Eve;s hand and has it stuck to a large rock.

"Ha-ha! Nailed it!" Sonic says.

Suddenly, Eve hears it beep faster and rushes to Sonic as she cries out, "Sonic, get out of the way!"

But as she reaches to him, the bomb sets off and explodes, sending both hedgehogs flying, and Tom jumps off the ground from the shock wave and falls back. As the dust clears up, Tom sees both Sonic and Eve lying unconscious on the ground.

"Sonic! Eve!" Tom cries out, and rushes towards them.

Tom slowly turns them over and frantically says, "No, no…"

Tom then presses his ear against Sonic's chest. Then does the same to Eve. Tom looks around to see no one else is around.

Tom tries to wake them both as he says, "Hey, come on. You're all right. Wake up. Wake up."

Tim tries to wake them up, but never hedgehogs are waking up.

Meanwhile, in Robotnik's truck interior, Robot is panting and breathing heavily as Agent Stone watches.

Suddenly, Agent Stone asks, "Did we get 'em?"

But Robotnik doesn't answer.

Then Agent Stone says, "No, no, there they are. They're real survivors, those two."

Robotnik slowly turns to Stone, "Can we have a moment?"

Soon, both Robotnik and Stone walk over to the wall.

Then Robotnik stands to Stone, "Pin yourself to the wall."

Agent Stone does that.

Then Robotnik presses his face very close to Agent Stone, and he's clearly upset, "You know, I won't miss you when you're gone. Human beings are unreliable and stupid, and I care very little about them. But my machines are diligent, relentless. THEY'RE EVERYTHING TO ME!"

Suddenly, Robotnik notices the blue glow and the red glow. He from inside Agent Stone's coat. He moves the coat to reveal Sonic and Eve's quill letting out a powerful glow. He takes out the two quills out of Stone's pocket and inspect them.

He then says, "面白い。" (INTERESTING,)

Robotnik then presses the tip of Sonic's quill to his tongue and gets a shock from the energy within the quill, making his head twitch violently.

"Hmm?" Robotnik replies and tries to hand Eve's quill to Agent Stone, who is very confused.
