"Stay still you annoying little hedgehog!" Eggman shouted.

A large, robotic spider stampeded and trampled all over the forest clearing. It moved from side to side. The bulkiness of its body knocked trees down and sent branches sprawling everywhere. Forest animals took to the hills and fled. With every quaking stomp, trees quivered and the ground trembled. It was as if Nature itself and all surrounding creatures were terrified.

Except for one.

"That hunk of junk couldn't touch me even if I were to stay still!" A certain hedgehog remarked. "Look at it, all bark, no bite."

"Let's put that to the test then, shall we?" Eggman asked menacing.

Encased into a reinforced dome of his new invention, the Eggspider 2.0, he lashed out a series of powerful, but sluggish attacks. The spider whipped it's razor sharp arms out, scraping and sinking deep wounds into the earth.

However, the attack was predicted and dodged by the cobalt hedgehog last second. Even if it was just barely, he always managed to steer clear of any damage. It boosted his ego, and he continued to catcall and degrade Eggman.

"Nice try, Egghead!" Sonic called from the safety of a nearby tree. "At this point even a turtle would leave here unscathed."

Eggman seethed; his face turned a bright, cherry red and fumes were practically escaping his ears. His blue glasses ignited with fury and hatred.

"I didn't work on this everyday for 3 years for that little nuisance to tear it apart within 3 seconds," he growled. "One way or another, no matter what the cost. I WILL CUT YOU DOWN!"

Enraged, Eggman pulled a lever, and smashed a series of buttons. The Eggspider stretched and screeched as it began to bare more legs. The front of the metal curled back to reveal metallic fangs. Its rear flanks opened up hatches for lock-on missiles.

Sonic yawned, having seen Eggman's usual, unoriginal inventions thousands of times. He knew there was nothing fear. "More legs, but still just as slow," He grumbled.

Eggman locked each missile onto Sonic, mashed the button, and allowed them to fly free. Sonic stretched, narrowing his eyes. He waited, holding his position. As soon as the missiles grew fatally close to him, he jumped up, hitting a backflip in midair.

Eggman watched the hedgehog soar sky-high, and chuckled. Surely he couldn't have thought it was that easy to get rid of one of his missiles?

To Sonic's *pretend* surprise, the missiles stopped themselves from exploding into the tree, and redirected themselves back towards him. He looked down at Eggman's invention, and thought of a plan quick.

He rolled himself up into tight, blue ball and dived. He crashed directly onto the dome that protected Eggman, and stood on top of it as the missiles came flying towards him.

Eggman stared at the missiles with a smug grin, as if preparing himself for his own doom. Sonic waited for the missiles to connect with Eggman's creation.

He would allow the doctor to become his own demise.

However, Eggman knew of Sonic's hat tricks just as well as Sonic knew his. Eggman pressed another button and the missiles returned back to the EggSpider's flanks, reconnecting themselves and preparing for another send off.

"Did you really think you'd get away with that? It might have worked in the past, but it won't work again." Eggman said, feeling his body heat rising.

Sonic shrugged indifferently.

"Well it's about time you started using your head!" He remarked. "Maybe now you can actually stand a chance."

Eggman snickered, seeing this as an open opportunity. He ever so slowly eased one of the spider arms towards Sonic. Then, in one swift movement, the Spider reached out to clutch at the blue hedgehog.

Or at least tried to.

Sonic evaded, but he felt the metal brush against his leg. Close call. The spider closed in on air as Eggman gave a frustrated yell. The hedgehog snickered.

He looked over past the horizon, seeing the golden sun sink and the bright blazing lights growing softer. He's had enough fun; he's been toying with Eggman all afternoon. it was time to end this.

Sonic launched his body at the Eggspider, and began to attack with lightning fast motions. He banged and tore against the sides, and cracked the dome only within a few short seconds. Eggman heaved with intensity, determined not to let him win.

On his command, the EggSpider reared up on its hind legs and began to stomp at the ground, in a failing attempt to crush the hedgehog. Moving faster than light itself, Sonic was able to steer clear of the spider's piercing legs.

He continued his quick, fluid movements. Using dash and melee attacks to ware the condition of the Eggspider down. It sputtered, growing weaker and slower. The metal ripped, wires sparked. It was like cutting a beast, and watching it bleed out. The Robot acted out in rage and dysfunction. Its movements going out of sync.

After a few minutes, the Eggspider crashed to the ground. It's legs sprawled out onto the forest floor as it creaked and powered down. Sonic stood right in front of it, staring menacing at Eggman.

"NO!!" Eggman shouted. "GET BACK UP YOU WRETCHED MACHINE! GET UP!"

Sonic laughed, crossing his hands over his chest. He watched as Eggman began to push a series of buttons and pull random levers. But it was to no avail, and it was all pointless. Another creation had been brought down by his hands.

"So Egghead, any last words?" Sonic asked.

Eggman stared at Sonic with slight fear in his eyes. His mouth became dry, and his brows furrowed. But no words would escape his mouth. He could only look dumbfounded.

"Wait, please Sonic!" He pleaded after a few seconds. "Let me go. I'm sorry! You're right, this invention is a hunk of junk!…Just another worthless design."

He secretly and slowly neared his hand towards an emergency lever on the flooring of his seat. The sinking sun hid his shadowed movements perfectly, but he didn't once turn his attention away from his prize.

"I'll leave this place, and never return! You'll never see me around here ever again! You'll never hear from me ever again! I promise! Just please, spare me!"

Sonic raised an eyebrow at him, pondering.

"Begging for mercy?" Sonic asked. "You coward. I was expecting you put up more of a fight. This is just pathetic."

"GOTCHA!"

"Wha-WOAH!!"

In a blink of an eye, the Eggspider's green eyes lit up and shot out a thick, white silk from a space in between its fangs. It was too fast for Sonic to dodge. It wrapped around him in an instant, and hardened. It sealed up completely, leaving his entire body immobile. Sonic growled at him, his eyes burning with rage.

"Hohoho!!" Eggman cackled. "So my plan did work after all."

Sonic struggled, feeling claustrophobic and airtight. He couldn't move anything other than his head.

"What?!"

"You dumb hedgehog," Eggman gloated. "Did you really think I would let you get away yet again? No, I finally figured you out. After years of humiliation. Putting up a fight against you is absolutely pointless and draining. You wreck my machines, and send me on my way. Every battle with you has ended in defeat. So the only way to get to you, was to make you believe that you've won. That way, you would let your guard down. Your overconfidence was your downfall, and now, it will be the result of your death."

"But how?" Sonic thought. "I destroyed it. I'm looking at it. The machine's busted. It looks like scrap heap… Wait..Eggman must have done something. He must have stronger interior armor, and he has overridden the robot's energy source. He was only pretending to attack me. He wanted all of this to happen. All that anger and fury was fake. He knew that if he held back I would have caught on. He gave me false security…How could I have missed something so simple as that?"

Eggman pressed a button, and the flanks of the Spider reopened once more. He knew now that his target would not be able to escape. These missiles would connect. Tonight would be the night. Tonight would be the night he finally won. Sonic would be gone, and there would be nobody to stop him. He could hardly contain his excitement.

Sonic stared at the missiles, now knowing his worst dream is about to come true. His cockiness from earlier echoed in his ears, almost as if taunting him. The machine he swore would never touch him now had him bound in silk.

Eggman gave no hesitation; he released the missiles. They all flew like darts trying to pierce the dartboard. Sonic inevitably kicked and struggled as he watched with horror and terror. He broke into a sweat and squeezed his eyes as he prepared himself for the pain.

In an instant, the missiles connected. Soon after, everything went black.
