Chapter Ten – Reflection
As Saffie watched his counterpart came through the ceiling, he felt someone move behind him. His distinctive aroma and scent gave him away as the only one of his kind. Human. Ivo was back, and breathing heavily right behind Saffie. He sighed. This whole situation was so unbelievably strange, with roles completely reversed, and Saffie had to put all past transgressions of the Human completely behind him, as to what Robotnik had done to him, was not the Human stood behind him.
Saffie gave the quiet before the storm, a chance to get a breather, but he rounded on Ivo behind him. He growled.
"I thought I told you to leave." He whispered. But the Human stood his ground.
"We did. Everyone's safe, but as the leader of the Freedom Fighters here, I never leave a good guy behind." He quietly hissed in return, finally believing and trusting Saffie. He glared at him, meaning every word. The Sapphire Dragon gulped. He'd come back for him, potentially risking his life. That meant a great deal to Saffie, as he was just now finally realising the real reason why he was struggling so much with the inter-dimensional traveling. He nodded at Ivo, very grateful. Ivo acknowledged it and promptly hide behind Saffie. He smirked, he had superpowers, the Human didn't.
Finally Saffie's counterpart landed in the centre of the enormous cavern with a bang. He was definitely evil. He looked extremely mean and he was... Saffie stared, raising an eyebrow and immediately whispered behind him.
"Green?" He asked, of which Ivo nodded. He gulped.
"Yes, long story. His plan was to lay hands on the Master Emerald and not get caught by the Echidna." He heaved, only to be cut across by Saffie. He gasped.
"Knuckles?" He asked but the Human shrugged.
"No idea, sorry. I only heard the story via word of mouth, I wasn't there. It all happened a long time ago." He added, then he continued. "In the end, he was finally found by him at the Emerald Shrine. They ended up fighting, him taking most of the heat from the angry Guardian. However, he somehow managed to brush the Echidna off, and he..." He heaved, indicating Saffie's counterpart. "Made for the Master Emerald and attempted to go Super using its energy. But the Echidna quickly intervened, striking the hedgehog with a Chaos-infused punch just before he could attain full Super status. However, the Hedgehog soon recovered and revealed himself as having attained some transformation. He now bears twin scars across his chest from the attack, his fur now being permanently green and his strength being considerably enhanced. The Echidna was then desperate for the Master Emerald not to fall in the wrong hands again, so he smashes the mighty gemstone. Enraged, Scourge killed the Echidna, the very last of his kind, leaving the Master Emerald in pieces and lost ever since. The Echidnas were the only ones with the ability to find them." He explained. Saffie nodded grateful for the information but raised an eyebrow. He giggled.
"Scourge?" He sniggered. Ivo nodded.
"Yes, he now calls himself the real Scourge of the universe." He stammered, as the Green Hedgehog was now looking around the cavern, somewhat disappointed at the lack of reception. Saffie giggled.
"That's silly." He smirked to himself, but he was overheard. Ivo growled at him.
"Oh really." He spat. "Coming from the guy who calls himself Saffie." He leered. Saffie sighed, as he looked back at the Human.
"Alright. You've made your point. I'm not good with names, ok." He heaved. They both giggled as they peered around the tunnel to look at Scourge. He was pacing the cavern looking frustrated. His entire fur coat colour was a mean looking foreboding Green, with cold ice blue eyes and sharpened teeth. Everything else Saffie expected from his counterpart was the same. Same number of spines down his back as well as his height and weight. But the attire was different. Scourge wore a battered and torn old black leather jack, with buckles, and flames on the sleeves. Dark green and black horizontal singular striped sneakers, with grey laces and dark green soles. He also wore grey and black socks, and white gloves. Permanently plastered to his forehead was a pair of vintage bright red sunglasses, and beneath them his evil blue eyes were surveying every inch of the cavern. He wasn't happy.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are." He mocked, rather coldly, his voice echoing around the cavern. He saw the relief carvings at one end, but promptly ignored them. He smirked evilly, still looking around. "Come on. Ivo, my pet Human. I thought you liked to play, now that I've found your little hidey-hole." He hissed. Ivo gulped, absolutely terrified, and grabbed Saffie by the shoulders, clinging to him for dear life. Saffie growled looking back at the Human, and saw horrendous scaring, battering and bruising, similar to himself, obviously caused by his counterpart.
Saffie anger flared, now he absolutely despised this Green Hedgehog, declaring to himself that he was no counterpart of his. But as he saw Scourge wonder to the far end of the cavern to where they were stood, gave Saffie an idea. Time to take advantage, of one, the fact that Scourge didn't know he was there, and two, the fact that a 'Sonic', any 'Sonic', had a nasty habit of being rather impulsive. He knew he'd never attacked anything organic before, but right now, he didn't have a choice. He couldn't let Scourge win. He'd kill the Human. Saffie swung round to Ivo, grabbing him by the hand.
"Do you trust me?" He breathed. The Human, still terrified, nodded. Under the circumstances, he didn't really have a choice. Right now, Saffie was his only chance of surviving this.
Suddenly, Saffie grabbed him and to Ivo's absolute horror, thrust him right out into the middle of the cavern, completely alone. He squealed in terror, desperately wondering that the Sapphire Dragon was up to. But he didn't get chance as Scourge immediately spotted him, from the other end of the cavern. He howled in evil laugher.
"There he is." He sneered. "You know, I've had enough." He hissed. "Of you, and your Freedom Fighters ruining my day." He growled, walking straight towards Ivo. "Time to die, Human." He snarled, as he immediately curled up into a ball and spin-dashed on the spot into an almighty circular saw. It was epic, and with seconds, he'd super-spinned right across the cavern, straight at Ivo. He screamed and covered his eyes, but then realised that nothing happened. The Green Hedgehog didn't hit him. Opening them, he was absolutely stunned and amazed that Saffie had come, completely out of nowhere, and now stood between them. He caught the super-spinning Hedgehog on both hands and was now walking forwards, forcing the Green Hedgehog back the way he came.
Ivo immediately ran to the side to safety, and looking back, quickly realised the incredible speed and strength needed to catch Scourge like that. Saffie was angry, almost beyond angry, as this Green Hedgehog was pushing both his upper level Super-Speed and Super-Strength to their absolute limits. Scourge was dumbfounded, what was going on? There was no way the Human could do this. Suddenly, to his horror, with strength he never felt before, he was tossed into the air and karate kicked with such force, that he was thrown the other end of the cavern, smashing into the opposite wall. He screamed in pain, and the crashed landed on floor, completely winded. Gasping for air, he looked up to see the Human gone, and in his place was an extremely tall, incredibly muscled, weird looking Hedgehog coming straight for him. But it was his fur coat colour that completely threw Scourge. He was Blue. Royal Blue. The colour he used to be.
Saffie had learned some basic martial arts moves back in his own dimension, during the six months after he'd defeated Robotnik a second time, and just before his own portal incident. Sally had found him a master willing to teach him. To give him something to do, in an attempt to deal with the intense boredom. He did it for fun, never actually imagining that those skills would become useful. But here, against Scourge, yes, very much so.
He smirked. Scourge had fallen for his trap but now he was fuming. Feeling Scourge's power in that Super-spin, he was able to gage exactly what he was dealing with. He was indeed more powerful then the average 'Sonic'. But Saffie was nowhere near at full strength, but here, that didn't matter. All Saffie needed to be was only slightly stronger and faster then Scourge, which after crunching the numbers in his head, he was, just, even if he was badly injured. He just had to outsmart him. He had no intension of killing Scourge, just to scare him enough into leaving.
Still breathing heavily, Scourge tried to get up, but in a blink of eye, Saffie was on him, a hand around his throat, thrust him hard against the wall. Scourge screamed in pain, and looked deep into Saffie's big green eyes, his Royal Blue fur glistening in the light. Except as Scourge looked, it wasn't fur, but millions of tiny reptile-like scales. Saffie growled at him, revealing his long canine teeth. Scourge gulped, looking his counterpart up and down.
"What the?" He stammered, but Saffie didn't reply. He just narrowed his eyes straight at him. But then Scourge smirked evilly, noticing the enormous gashes on Saffie's sides and torso. Whoever this creature was, he wasn't at full strength. Time to take advantage.
He subtly slide a hand into his quills and pulling out a four inch long knife, he instantly dug it deep into Saffie's side, twisting it was he went. The Sapphire Dragon screamed, letting go of Scourge who immediately went for him, doing a Spin Attack against him, knocking Saffie into the wall. But incredible weight largely softens the blow, as Scourge just bounces off of him, and Saffie was left just fuming even more against the wall. He immediately looked behind and spies Scourge backing up for another attack. A classic 'Sonic' maneuver, except this time, Saffie saw him coming, and moved faster then Scourge could see, out of the way, only for the Green Hedgehog to go headlong, painfully, into the wall.
He screamed again, pulled himself out, landed on his feet, and turned around. He then found Saffie stood behind him, in the middle of the cavern, patiently waiting for him. Saffie had no intension, of spin attacking the Green Hedgehog himself, even though he could. He was however, in a lot of pain, the knife still in his side. He painfully pulled it out, throwing it to one side. It was bleeding blood and oil, but Saffie just forgot about that, as he prompted the Green Hedgehog to come after him. He smirked. He was winding up the Green Hedgehog and Scourge was falling for it, getting angrier and angrier by the second. Saffie knew that a 'Sonic's' number one attack was the Spin Attack. Heck, he'd done it himself, thousands of times over the years, but he'd also learned as a professional soldier that there was other ways to win a fight, and he'd got the impression that Scourge just didn't have his level of experience.
It was obvious that he was using his powers to intimidate everyone, and as the only one with superpowers, he could. (He was unsure about Shadow.) But right now he wasn't and as Saffie saw Scourge spin attack straight towards him, he was going to use his own powers against him, as Saffie karate kicked again, straight into another wall of the cavern. Scourge screamed, the pain unbearable, but he just got more angry and went for Saffie again. But the Sapphire Dragon just kept kicking him back into the cavern walls. He did try and avoid the wall with the carvings but that wasn't guaranteed.
Now Scourge's anger was completely getting the better of him, unable to think straight and therefore use another attack, exactly what Saffie wanted. But the more he used the Spin Attack against Saffie, the more he would just kick him into the cavern walls. It was rather amusing, until Scourge noticed the knife that Saffie had tossed, grabbed it and brandished the four inch blade, straight at the Sapphire Dragon. Saffie just rolled his eyes, and they stood opposite each other, Scourge heavily panting, in a great deal of pain. Saffie, also was, but he ignored it, the professional soldier he was. But he was still badly bleeding. But he smirked.
"You call that a knife." He mocked, coldly. But Scourge roared, surging forwards at Super-Speed at Saffie, only to immediately miss, and be karate kicked yet again into a cavern wall. It landed flat against the wall, only to have the Sapphire Dragon immediately on him. He grinned.
"This was a knife." He smirked, as he thrusted his closed straighten clenched left fist straight at Scourge, and to the Green Hedgehog's absolutely horror, he saw the three foot long silver Adamantium knives, explode out of Saffie's knuckles and go straight his neck. He back right up against the wall, as two of the three knives, brushed either side of his neck and touch the wall. The third middle knife was going right for the middle and beautifully controlled, it stopped just short of puncturing the skin, touching his voice box.
Now Scourge was absolutely terrified, especially when Saffie closed his right fist and a further three more foot long knives exploded from the knuckles, as the Sapphire Dragon, now very angry himself, shoved them into the wall just above his head, slicing through the super hard rock like butter. Then Scourge noticed Saffie's spines coming out his shoulders and the long tail out the back. He gulped.
"Who are you, you freak?" He spat, very coldly. But Saffie just smirked, leaning very close into the Green Hedgehog. He hissed.
"I'm you." He sneered. Scourge's eyes widened. But Sapphire Dragon hissed. "And we're done. Get out." He roared, removing the knives, them returning back inside his hands and walked away. But Scourge growled. Him, loose. Never, as he pushed himself away from the wall and super-speed ran for the Sapphire Dragon. But again, Saffie saw him coming, and this time, he super-sped grabbed Scourge by the wrist, lifting him clean off the ground and then proceeded to karate kick him so hard that the Green Hedgehog was thrown high into the air and landed in the middle of the sun carving, right at the top of the far wall. Scourge smashes a hole in the centre, with cracks radiating out, and falls to the floor with an almighty crash. He was almost knocked unconscious. Battered, beaten and broken, Scourge looked up to see the Sapphire Dragon coming straight for him, and now, finally, he agreed. He heaved.
"Yeah, we're done." He hissed, coldly, and super-speed ran for the nearest tunnel and out of there, heavily limping. He was absolutely fuming. He'd lost the fight. The first fight he'd ever lost in his life and desperately wanted revenge. But he knew he couldn't beat Saffie. Even injured, the freak was better then him. He needed more firepower and knew exactly where to find it.
Suddenly the cavern exploding in cheering, as several Freedom Fighters had returned and were alongside Ivo, who was running across the enormous space towards the Sapphire Dragon. They were stunned. They had never seen Scourge defeated in battle before and were eager to congratulate him but Saffie immediately stopped them. He was having a major problem. His side, where Scourge had thrusted his knife, wasn't stopping bleeding, still sending blood and oil everywhere, and now Saffie's body was reacting to it completely on it's own. He was beginning to glow a deep vivid green, his body now absolutely desperate to heal itself after the extensive blood loss.
It was activating the Robotisation Energy Manipulation, and Saffie couldn't stop it. He had to go through with it. He now didn't have a choice. He put his hands out to the Freedom Fighters.
"Stay back." He panted. "You don't want to get caught in this." He added, indicating the green glow. Ivo stopped his comrades, backing then away, but looked worried. Saffie spotted him. "Hey, I'll be fine. I just need to heal." He smiled, but then suddenly the robotisation process activated and Saffie grabbed his head, doubling over, the pain horrendous. He screamed as he opened his wings, sending them skywards and between the spines, there was intense green glowing. Suddenly, super thin mechanical wiring and flesh exploded out from the spines to then be instantly covered by bright royal blue skin, as his beautiful Dragon wings were rebuilt. The green glow became brighter as his secondary wings and tails fins were also reconstructed.
Further flesh and wiring exploded out of the gashes of his torso, as they were delicately sewn back together and eventually vanishing, and the stabbing in his side finally stopped bleeding and healed. It took a huge amount of energy to complete. So much so, that Saffie collapsed, the Freedom Fighters unable to stop him hitting the floor. His body was out cold but Saffie's mind was fine, as he stood there, having activated his wireless, in holographic form, just behind the Freedom Fighters.
He sighed, but didn't say anything, as he obviously wasn't spotted. The Freedom Fighter had just witnessed one act of incredibly advanced technology. Saffie figured that another, like his hologram, would just be to much. This dimension was not as technologically wise as the first dimension he travelled to. He was beginning to accurately read each dimension, what they could or couldn't do or did or didn't know. But Saffie realised that he had to concentrate on what was ahead of him and not dwell on what was behind him. He was still severely traumatised by the horrible events of previous dimension, but he had to shake them off, otherwise his mind would just crack. He smirked. The fight against Scourge compared to the brutal battle against Robotnik in and out of the Grid, was child's play. Not very difficult, but he knew their next encounter would be. Scourge was him, and he knew he'd want revenge. But right now, he'd deal with that, as and when he got there.
Regardless, he liked this dimension, and a very welcome relief from the horrors of the Grid. Ivo and the Freedom Fighters were weird but good people, and right now, he needed that. He really needed that, because that was what he had been desperately missing. A real friend. A companion to come back to. Someone who understood. But he couldn't take one with him on his inter-dimensional travels. He'd just get them killed. They wouldn't be strong enough. There was a reason he was chosen to do this, his destiny. He understood that now, but it was lonely as hell. A hero wasn't a hero without his friends, and Saffie was left wondering how he was going to solve this. He had no idea, but he had too, for his own sanity's sake. He just couldn't continue like this, not any more.
He sighed, as he stood there, very quietly, taking a breather, while waiting for his body to reboot, before he could get back in there. Saffie's ability to heal like this was another feature he added with the upgrade, just enhancing the healing process he could already do. But he rubbed his eyes, yawning. He was so incredibly tired. Three dimensions down and he was absolutely beat. But he knew he didn't have any time to rest, as within minutes, his body was back online, perfectly fine. So, he immediately vanished, and opened the eyes of the Sapphire Dragon, to the cheers of the Freedom Fighters.
Ivo bent down and offered him a hand and Saffie, smiling, took it. The Human pulled him to his feet, and immediately embraced him. Saffie was gobsmacked and despite the fact that Ivo saw everything, including his long silver Adamantium knives, he just didn't care. Saffie had won and Scourge was gone, at least for now. Saffie never thought in his wildest dreams he'd be hugged by the Human, but he couldn't hold a grudge. This person had done nothing against him, and smiling, he hugged him back.
Saffie was heaving, severely out of breath. Ivo felt his incredible power, but also his severe tiredness. Ivo let him go, again looking worried.
"Your exhausted. You need to rest." He stammered, but Saffie wasn't listening. He was staring at the carved wall, at the far end of the cavern, over Ivo's shoulder, and his jaw dropped. He saw where he smashed Scourge into the beautiful wall, feeling somewhat guilty that he'd done it, be the end results now showed the carvings in a completely different light. Saffie frowned.
"What the?" He gasped, as he ignored Ivo, walked around him, and immediately went for the wall. But he didn't walk the length of the cavern, he flew there, to the total and utter awe of everyone present. Saffie's instincts had opened his wings and sent him skywards. It felt so good, so he didn't stop them, as he sailed across the cavern and hovered, beating his wings, in front of the sun carving, above his own, with the damage still showing. It now looked like something completely different and the entire carving was potentially telling him what he needed to do, to help this dimension. The Freedom Fighters had ran after him and were now stood beneath him, all wearing massive grins. But Ivo frowned, he too looked at the carvings and didn't see anything different. He heaved.
"Saffie." He called, beckoning the Sapphire Dragon to come down. This snapped Saffie out of his transfixion, and he obliged, the Freedom Fighters moving out of the way to allow him to land. Beautifully on his feet, folding away his mighty wings behind his back. But Ivo was still confused. He frowned again looking at the wall. "What do you see?" He asked.
Saffie all of a sudden got very excited. He rounded on the Human. He heaved.
"There's a massive difference between me and Scourge, despite the fact were two versions of the same person, and I'm not talking about the fact that one was good, and other was evil." He explained. "Look, at the carvings. In the centre is me, but beneath me was Scourge, terrorising the place but what was he?" He asked.
Ivo and Freedom Fighters looked at the wall, and shrugged, all of them having no idea. But Saffie heaved, somewhat frustrated.
"He's alone." He spat, answering the question for them. He then rounded on Ivo. "This was why your such a better villain then I am." He praised. The Human smirked, raising an eyebrow. But Saffie continued. "You don't do it alone. You build yourself an army, an empire, lackeys, minions. Whatever. You build machines to do your bidding and I hate to say it, keep you company." He smiled. Ivo looked shocked. He didn't even know he had such knowledge. But Tails cut across them.
"Wow." He praised. "How?" He asked, only to be rounded upon by Ivo. He growled.
"Tails!" He hissed, and the Fox gulped, backing away.
"Sorry." He apologised. His enthusiasm had gotten the better of him again, and even he quickly realised that that was information he definitely didn't want to know, because Ivo certainly didn't. The Human nodded, allowing Saffie to continue. He heaved.
"I get the impression that Scourge had been ruling this dimension with an iron fist." He hissed. Everyone nodded. But Saffie smirked. "But has anyone been helping him?" He asked. Looking around, everyone shook there heads. But Rotor piped up.
"Scourge despises friends and relying on others. He sees it as a form of weakness." He explained. But Saffie's smirk broadened. He grinned.
"Precisely." He smiled. "It seems that your problem as a dimension was down to just one singular person. So say, for example, I can get Scourge gone through whats now above my head." He giggled, indicating the wall. "Then that might solve it for you." He smiled. Immediately all of the Freedom Fighters backed up slightly to look at the very top of the wall. The sun with his rays that was above Saffie's head on the wall, now had an almighty hole in it's centre, still with crack radiating out. Rotor's jaw dropped. He gasped.
"That's a portal." He stammered, pointing up. The sun with it's hole, did indeed now look like a inter-dimensional portal. But Saffie looked disheartened.
"Yes." He sighed. "But I have no idea how it could be done. I can't control the portals at will. They just seem to appear whenever I need to move on." He added. Suddenly Rotor disappeared, and was back in a matter of minutes, to the total and utter confusion of everyone there. He grinned inanely, thrusting an unusual looking device. Thin and curved, black with a gemstone in the middle. It was designed to be strapped to a wrist, straight at Saffie. The Sapphire Dragon stared.
"Actually, yes, you can." He grinned. "It's my Dimension Portal Generator. It's only a prototype and temperamental as heck, but if anyone can get it to work properly, you can." He smiled. Saffie was absolutely stunned and with all the Freedom Fighters nodding, including Ivo, he takes the device.
"Thank you." He stammered, not entirely sure what to do with it. He straps it to his wrist but nothing happened. He frowned. But Rotor grabbed his wrist. He poked it.
"I think you might have to integrate it into that Cyborg body of yours." He wondered. Saffie's eyes widen. He gulped.
"What! Assimilate it?" He gasped, terrified. The Walrus nodded. But Saffie was frightened. "I've never done that before. Literally acquire new technology. I'm not even sure I can." He stammered, but Rotor rounded him. He growled.
"Hey, you managed to heal yourself using that green stuff, so please try it." He pleaded. Saffie was seriously unsure but Ivo nodded. He wholeheartedly agreed with Saffie. Getting Scourge gone from this dimension would immediately solve their problems. It's just that they needed to get him to a dimension where he couldn't hurt anyone. To do this, Saffie needed full control of the portals.
Saffie stared. Green stuff? So they hadn't worked out what the Robotisation Energy Manipulation was. He was relieved, knowing full well he wasn't going to tell them either, giving the impression that it was just a Cyborg thing and something he just did, without revealing it's more sinister nature. The Freedom Fighters seemed to have accepted this, as Saffie backed away from them.
Not want to get anyone caught in the Robotisation Energy, he held his hand with the portal device aloft, and activated it. He had absolutely no idea if it would work, as his entire hand, wrist and arm began to glow bright green. Suddenly wires, exploded from his wrist and to the device. They melded together as the device sung deep into his wrist, his skin opening up and reform around it, leaving just a thin black line around his wrist and the gemstone showing. It wasn't painful, but felt extremely weird. His body appeared to be repairing the device, making it fully functional, until finally, it was hooked up directly the incredible computer that was his brain.
As the device came online, the Robotisation Energy dying away, it hit Saffie and extremely hard. It caused his eyes to glow bright green and his knees to buckle. He grabbed his head, as the Freedom Fighters desperately tried to stop him from hitting the floor and failed. He swore, as he rolled onto his knees, his head in the floor, a huge amount of information hitting him all at once. He panted as he tried to make sense of it all. It took some time for Saffie to realise that his name was being called. The Freedom Fighters were terrified, all of them crowded behind Ivo, the only one with the confidence to approach the mighty Sapphire Dragon. He nervously approached him.
"Saffie?" He stammered. "Saffie?" He gulped. "Are you still with us?" He asked, desperate to know. The question immediately struck a cord with Saffie as he lifted his head, as the explosion of information began to ease, his brain finally beginning to process it all. He was still heaving as he struggled to his feet, his body still badly swaying. His eyes was still glowing bright green as he looked around, but Ivo wasn't giving up on him. "Saffie?" He growled. "Are you still with us?" He asked, again. This time, finally, the Sapphire Dragon responded with a smile and a nod. There was relief all round, but Rotor was both fascinated and very worried. He stared at Saffie.
"What happened?" He asked, looking at his wrist, seeing his invention now perfectly moulded to it. Saffie heaved, still trying to get his bearing. He heaved.
"When my body assimilated the Dimension Portal Generator, it appeared to have repaired the device and it hooked itself up directly to my brain. It was a lot of information all at once. Now its like I can feel the entire multiverse itself through the device. It's bizarre." He admitted, truthfully. Saffie was still heavily panting, but Ivo smiled, satisfied with the explanation. He frowned.
"Does it work?" He asked, wondering. Rotor too was desperate to know. Saffie shrugged looking down at the device on his wrist, with his black strapping surrounding the gemstone. The Walrus then grabbed Saffie by the arms and moved him to one side. He then grabbed his hand with the device, and held it out in front of Saffie. He then grabbed the device and began tweaking it, to Saffie's intense discomfort. Rotor gulped.
"Sorry." He stammered, but Saffie nodded.
"No, go ahead. I need to know how it works." He smiled, and watched intently as the Walrus tweaked the device still further and finally, the gemstone began to glow. Rotor was ecstatic as he began programming the device, but suddenly Saffie's mind finally twigged what was going on, and suddenly the device began working completely on it's own. Saffie's eyes began to glow. He grabbed the Walrus. He heaved.
"Actually, Rotor, I think I've got this." He added, and moving forwards ahead of him, he aimed his hand, well away from anyone, and fully activated the device. The gemstone then glowed a deep purple and the suddenly a ball of light exploded from his hand, shot out ahead of him, and created a perfect inter-dimensional portal, the location of which, unfortunately, was random. Suddenly everyone cheered, as Saffie flicked his wrist, and thus the device, immediately shutting down the portal, it completely vanishing. Rotor was panting.
"Hey, you did it." He squealed. But Saffie shook his head. He smiled.
"No, we did it." He grinned, hugging the Walrus. He reminded him so much of his Rotor from his own dimension. He felt honoured. He looked down at his wrist. His new ability was going to take some getting used to. But Ivo frowned.
"So, now what?" He asked, looking at Saffie. The Sapphire Dragon was on his knees. Ivo rounded on him. "Hey, you need to rest. Your exhausted." He said again, but Saffie growled. Ivo was right, he was, but he just couldn't afford it.
"I can't." He spat. "Scourge has probably lost his very first fight in his life today, and he was going to be seeking immediate revenge. I suspect that he going to find something with significantly more firepower to take me down with." He hissed, looking back at the beautifully carved wall. He smirked, he knew exacting what.
The Chaos Emeralds.
