Chapter 118: Heroes Unite - Part 5

Last time on Sonic the Hedgehog, Sally and her friends got ready to launch a full scale raid on the White Acropolis base, with a plan to save Elise. However, Sally gets separated from her party, resulting in direct confrontation with the villain, Jenni Robotnik, and her newest Metal series, Mecha Sally. Now our heroes struggle against Jenni's most deadly robots in order to survive...

Outside the White Acropolis Base...

*Amy and Cream were holding their ground while Agatha held up her shield against the robots surrounding them. Egg Hammers appeared from the base to confront the heroes, leading to Agatha to switch to offense in order to freeze the large robots in their place using ice magic.*

Agatha: "Amy! We can't keep this up! We've got to fall back!"

Amy: "Urgh... We've got to give them more time... If Sally and them can just get to the security room, they might be able to shut these guys down!"

Cream: "M-Miss Amy! I'm scared!"

Agatha: "Amy!"

*Amy looked at Cream then at Agatha before getting an idea. She then pulled out a tarot card.*

Amy: "I have an idea. Agatha, on my signal, you blind the incoming robots!"

*Agatha looked at Amy before readying light in her hands as more robots came from the building.*

Amy: "One... Two... THREE!"

*Agatha slammed her hands together, causing the bright flash that messed with the robots' optics for a moment. When they looked back, the girls were gone. Completely vanished. Confused, they began to search for them. In reality, Amy had just turned herself and her friends invisible using one of her tarot abilities.*

Amy: "Whew... Didn't think that'd work..."

Agatha: "Invisibility?"

Amy: "Yeah... Only had one card for that though... It was how I snuck from home a lot... Let's sneak in before the invisibility wears off..."

*The trio did exactly that, managing to get through the shutters the robots came from.*

Within the White Acropolis Throne Room...

*Sally was pinned to the floor by Mecha Sally, the robot glaring down at her before igniting a hard light blade to finish off the chipmunk. But then Jenni raised her hand.*

Jenni: "Hold on, Mecha Sally. Don't be so hasty. It's not any fun if you off her right away. At least be a good sport about it."

Mecha Sally: "I obey."

*Mecha Sally got off her organic double and allowed her to stand back up. Sally growled before glaring at Jenni.*

Sally: "What are you planning?"

Jenni: "Nothing you haven't seen Ivo try... Maybe... I'm merely giving you a better chance at defending yourself. At least...before Mecha Sally offs you for being weak."

*Sally growls, knowing Jenni was goading her into making rookie mistakes. Thankfully, Sally knew better. She got her hard light blades ready. But as Jenni said "Go", Mecha Sally rushed at Sally right away. At such incredible speed, Mecha Sally tackled the chipmunk and slammed her into the wall before yanking her out and tossing her to the floor.*

Sally: "Urgh... She's not messing around... I need to concentrate or else..."

Jenni: "Don't die too soon, princess... I'd at least a bit of time to prepare to send your lifeless body back to your dear papa Max and watch him break down from grief."

Sally: "My dad wouldn't break down for your-"

*Sally is interrupted by an uppercut from Mecha Sally, followed by a punch to the face, a punch to the gut, then a grapple and a body slam to the floor. Sally shook her head as she stood back up, already feeling weak.*

Mecha Sally: "Your death is imminent. You have no hope in beating me, foolish Acorn."

Sally: "If Sonic can handle Metal Sonic, I can handle a tin can wannabee trying to pretend to be me!"

Outside the Front of White Acropolis Base

*Metallix stared down Shadow and Blaze, noticing their fear.*

Metallix: "Hah. You can sense it, can't you? That my power far exceeds yours's. Admire it. Fear it. And let it be your end!"

Shadow: "Tch. I think I preferred you as Sonic's copy. At least you were quieter."

Metallix: "Do NOT call me Sonic's copy!"

*Metallix launches at Shadow, but ends up missing as Shadow jumps up and flies with his rocket boots. Metallix gives chase with Blaze following behind.*

Metallix: "I have already defeated you once before. You, who would be Sonic's equal... If I could defeat you so easily, then that blue spike ball is nothing!"

Shadow: "If I'm 'defeated', then why am I still breathing?"

*Shadow turns around and immediately curled up, bashing at Metallix in the face while Blaze came up and slammed a twirling kick on Metallix, knocking him into the snow.*

Shadow: "You claim to be the Ultimate Lifeform, but you couldn't be further from the truth."

Metallix: "And you claim to be it then? Hah!"

Shadow: "Hardly."

Metallix: "Huh?"

*Shadow begins walking toward Metallix.*

Shadow: "When Sonic and I stopped the ARK from crashing into Mobius, I saw his potential. I saw what he had that I lacked. He had the entire world behind him... Cheering for him. That's why he never gives up. That's why he is a hero. That's why he is the true Ultimate Lifeform."

Metallix: "...Bah. Such nonsense. And even if that is true, that changes nothing. I still surpass him."

Shadow: "No. You won't."

*Shadow stops only a meter away from Metallix as he starts to drop his Inhibitor Rings.*

"And here's why."

*Shadow tosses the rings over to Blaze just behind him, who catches the rings, before suddenly teleporting. Metallix is met by a solid punch to his gut, sending the robot flying back from the force. Shadow then warped and front kicked Metallix into the sky.*

Silver: "Whoa..."

Blaze: "Indeed... I suspect Shadow has been holding back this whole time."

*Metallix recovered in the air as Shadow warps in front of him. The two then got into a close combat air fight, swinging at each other with each hit causing small shockwaves. Shadow then unleashed a burst of Chaos Energy to send Metallix back before tossing a barrage of Chaos Spears. Metallix used a Black Shield to block the attacks before return firing, his optical visor cracking from sheer rage he was feeling.*

Back Inside the Base...

*Jenni was observing the fight outside on her chair monitor and growled.*

Jenni: "What is Metallix doing? He beat Shadow last time, but now he couldn't do it? Tch. This is why I don't leave anything up to chance."

*Sally was in a blade fight with her mecha doppelgänger but was on the losing end as she had scratches and bruises all over her, as well as having a hard time catching up to the robot. Mecha Sally's eyes glowed before she punched Sally in the gut, lifting her off the ground and grabbing her by the neck.*

Jenni: "Oh? Is it over? A shame. And I was hoping you'd at least land a hit on Mecha Sally."

*Sally glared at Jenni and Mecha Sally, unable to really do anything other than hold the mecha's arm.*

Jenni: "Well. I'll put you aside for now..."

*Jenni contacts Metallix and crosses her arms after standing up.*

"Metallix. What is going on? Stop fooling around and kill Shadow now!"

Metallix: "What do you think I'm doing!?"

Jenni: "Wasting time and energy. I built you to be the ultimate killing machine. So actually kill Shadow and leave no body this time."

Metallix: "Leave...no...body...huh...?"

*Jenni hears Metallix starting to chuckle before breaking out into laughter.*

Metallix: "Very well. I shall leave no body... I'll destroy everything! Including trash like you!"

Jenni: "...Excuse me?"

Outside the Base...

*Shadow is punched away from Metallix before being blasted back to the ground. As he looks back up, he sees Metallix charging up energy into a ball, it growing in size until it was clear what he was intending to do.*

Shadow: "What!? Is he crazy!?"

Blaze: "With that much energy... He's bound to destroy all of White Acropolis! If not Soleanna!"

Jenni: "Are you actually serious right now? You are planning to destroy me, my base, and what little of an army I have here?"

Metallix: "I'm just doing as you ordered. I intend to destroy ALL life! I will become the ONLY Ultimate Lifeform! The strongest thing alive!"

Jenni: "...You. Are a failure, Metallix. You are no Ultimate Lifeform. Just a robot who forgot how to heel to your master."

*Communications then gets cut off, but Metallix did not seem to care.*

Back Inside...

Jenni: "Mecha Sally. Drop the chipmunk. We are leaving and every second wasted is just more time for Metallix to destroy us."

Mecha Sally: "Acknowledged."

*Mecha Sally drops Sally, leaving with Jenni as the doctor sits upon her throne.*

Sally: "Cough... Wait... We... We could work together in stopping Metallix... You know his weakness, right?"

*Jenni looks at Sally before smiling.*

Jenni: "Rule number one of negotiation: Only negotiate when you have the upper hand. You all are either going to be too distracted to stop me or going to die by Metallix. Neither of which I care about. You are on your own, princess. See you hopefully never."

*Jenni waves while still smirking before descending down further into the base. Sally growls before standing back up and looking for a way out.*

Sally: "Gamma! Amelia! Do you read!?"

*After a bit of static, Amelia comes in.*

Amelia: "...ally... D... rea... e?"

Sally: "Ah... Too much interference... Look! I'm trapped down here! Metallix is aiming to destroy the base! I repeat! Metallix is destroying the base!"

Amelia: "...orry...n't he...ou... To...ch...fer..."

*Sally curses her luck before deciding it best to break her way out, slashing at what looked to be the door out.*

Outside the Security Room...

*Gamma was behind some cover, firing at the E-10000 robots while Tails Doll/Amelia was plugged into the door.*

Gamma: "I can only hold off the enemy for so long. Weaponry reserves are running low."

Amelia: "I'm trying my hardest, Gamma! Hacking into the security system isn't easy! Just hold on for another minute!"

*As Gamma was readying to fire at the enemies, a few of the robots were crushed by a sudden shift in gravity in a limited area, more robots destroyed by the swing of a hammer, and the last robot destroyed by a small Chao.*

Amy: "The cavalry has arrived!"

Gamma: "Our odds have improved dramatically. Excellent timing, Miss Amy."

Amy: "No thanks are necessary."

Amelia: "And no better time either. Hacking is just about finished. With this, the entire base will be without a security system."

*Amelia looks through the security system and sees just what Sally called her for.*

Amelia: "...Oh no... Guys..."

Amy: "Huh? What's wrong, Amelia? Why 'oh no'?"

*A visual of outside is shown to everyone, showing Metallix's truly desperate attempt to become the Ultimate Lifeform, much to their shock and fear.*

Outside the Base...

*Metallix continued to feed energy into his attack, a black shield over him to protect himself as he laughed.*

Metallix: "I shall become the Ultimate Lifeform! I shall become the strongest being in the universe! All shall bow to me!...or perish!"

*Metallix then sees a ship escaping not far from where he could see. He raises a hand fires an energy blast at the ship, destroying it before it could get far.*

Metallix: "Like you could escape from my wrath, 'Mistress'. No one can!"

*Shadow and Blaze stare on before glaring.*

Shadow: "With his Black Shield up, we can't land any direct attacks without risking him copying our abilities."

Blaze: "What can we do then?"

*Silver flies in with Gold and begins to think.*

Silver: "I may have an idea, but Shadow, I'll need a distraction."

Shadow: "Me? Why am I the bait?"

Blaze: "Because Metallix hates you the most?"

*Shadow just 'hmph's at that before listening to the plan.*

Silver: "I'll try to use my telekinesis to break the Black Shield open while he's busy. Blaze can get in an attack, knocking him in the air. Me and Gold will then hold his attack in the air and try to propel it into outer space. And Metallix will be all yours, Shadow."

Shadow: "...Hmph. Not a bad plan."

Blaze: "Let's do it."

*Shadow nods before rushing to get Metallix's attention by firing a Chaos Spear. Metallix moves his hand to fire off a barrage of attacks, taking the bait hook, line, and sinker. Silver floats a ways away from the robot and starts to concentrate.*

Silver: 'Okay, Silver. The world is depending on you at this very moment. This will be a true test of your psychic abilities. Master Platinum... Bronze... Give me your strength...'

*Silver then begins to slowly and subtly break away at Metallix's Black Shield, tearing it from behind as Shadow continues to dance around the robot's blasts. Once Blaze sees the opening, she charges up her fire to ready an attack, her form become as close to Burning Blaze without needing the Sol Emeralds.*

Metallix: "You truly think I'd let you attack my blind spot?"

*Metallix then turns to fire at Blaze, but Silver catches the arm and holds it. The strain of having to hold the shield open and keeping Metallix immobile was starting to get to the hedgehog as his nose began to bleed.*

Blaze: "I mustn't delay! It is now or never!"

*Blaze jumps toward Metallix, surprising the robot as she unleashes a fiery kick, the kick resembling that of a lion's scratching the air as Metallix is shot through his own shield and slammed onto the ground.*

Gold: "Alright! I'm coming, Silver!"

*Gold flew up to support Silver as they began to push the large Spirit Bomb-like energy ball into the air. Metallix, however, was looking particularly angry at Silver.*

Metallix: "You... Little... GNAT!"

*Metallix fires a laser from his eye visors, Gold seeing this before pushing Silver out of the way, she taking the lasers as they went through her... Much to Silver's horror.*

Silver: "GOLD!"

*Shadow was quick to punch and kick Metallix, slamming a fist right at the robot's face hard enough to break his optics.*

Shadow: "I have had enough of you!"

Metallix: "Grrr... I'll at least take solace...in taking the life of your friend, Shadow... And if I ever come back... That stupid girl that sits in front of her computer is next to die..."

Shadow: "...Not if i send you to Hell first."

*Shadow grabs Metallix by the face and slams him down, charging up his Chaos energy.*

Shadow: "Chaos... BLAST!"

*A mighty explosion engulfs him and Metallix, seemingly destroying the robot as Shadow walks away. Blaze passes his Inhibitor Rings to him as they look on at Silver, distraught by Gold laying in the snow as his hold on the energy ball started to collapse.*

Blaze: "Silver! Don't let Gold's sacrifice be in vain! Push that thing out of here!"

*Silver snaps out of it before returning back to pushing the energy ball back. With all of his force, he let's out a scream; the energy ball is sent flying into outer space, out of the atmosphere where it explodes. Silver starts to pant, blood coming out his nose before he finally passes out. As he falls out of the sky, he takes a look at Gold, tears coming out of his eyes as he seems to accept death. Though Shadow is quick to catch him.*

Shadow: "...You two did good..."

*As Shadow lands, he is suddenly contacted by Amelia.*

Shadow: "Shadow here."

Amelia: "Shadow! Is everything alright!? I saw almost everything from the security feed outside!"

Shadow: "Negative. Two of us are down. Requesting immediate first aid."

Amelia: "Understood. I'll have Team Rose come out for support."

*Communications end as Shadow sees Blaze carrying Gold, the princess trying her best to use her heat to mend the wounds on Gold.*

Prison Lab...

*Back inside the base, Sally slices open a door as she was still finding her way out. She enters the room and finds Princess Elise unconscious on a table.*

Sally: "Elise!"

*Sally runs over and places her ear on Elise's chest, sighing in relief at hearing a heartbeat. She carries Elise off the table and starts searching for a way out once more. She soon finds an elevator coming down, now worried that she may have to fight her way out and protect Elise too. But that worry turned to joy once she saw Gamma and Tails Doll greet her.*

Amelia: "Hi, Sally. Going our way?"

Sally: "Amelia! Did you hack into the base's security?"

Amelia: "Sure did. Found you down here once things above settled down."

Sally: "That's good. Come on. Let's get Elise back home before we get caught in some snowstorm."

*The two bots nodded before Gamma picks up Elise to carry her and they all leave.*

Elsewhere, inside a hidden train tunnel...

*A bullet train passes by, to the side, an emblem of the Eggman Empire is shown. Inside, in the special suite, Jenni sat, sipping a cup of tea as Mecha Sally stood to the side. On a monitor, a Mobian thylacine dressed as a butler speaks to Jenni with politeness.*

Thylacine: "Greetings, lady Jenni... I trust things went well?"

Jenni: "In a manner of speaking. Have the supplies been delivered, Maw?"

Maw: "Intact and stacked accordingly."

Jenni: "Good. And is Grimer available? I wish to talk to him about Metallix..."

Maw: "He is not, but I will contact him to call you when he can."

Jenni: "Not necessary. Tell him to meet me when I arrive back at the mansion. That will be all."

Maw: "Yes, my lady."

*With a polite bow, Jenni continues to sip her tea as the scene flashes back. She had launched a decoy ship to keep Metallix off her trail. As far as he was concerned, she was now dead; which meant she could go about her business undisturbed.*

Jenni: "With what Mephiles supplied me... We can move on to Phase Two..."

*On the monitor, an image of a sleeping giant within Mobius itself is seen. Jenni's smiling reflection appears over the image as the train continues its route.*
