Chapter 1-Avoiding death

Jake's P.O.V

Jake Griffin sat in his office on the Ark as he looked at the reports he had just gotten. Jake was a tall man with a fair complexion, blue eyes, and light brown hair. "Wick," Jake says. Kyle Wick opens the door and looks at him. "Can you get me, Raven Reyes?" Jake asks Wick, who nods as he leaves the room. Jake sat there in silence, and a few minutes later, Raven walked into the room.

"You wanted to see me, sir," Raven says. Raven is a young woman with an olive complexion, brown eyes, oval face, and dark brown hair. Raven's long hair is often pulled back into a half braid, half ponytail. She is 5'5", and she has an athletic physique.

"No need for the sir, Raven. It's Jake," Jake tells her as he grabs the report and holds it out to Raven, who slowly takes it and reads it.

"How do we fix it?" Raven asks after a moment.

"We don't. This isn't a glitch, Raven. It's a system failure. The Ark has a year, maybe two years left of oxygen," Jake says.

"Why are you telling me this?" Raven asks.

"Because I'm going to tell the council, and I have a feeling they won't like it and won't want me to tell people. I will, and if they decide I'm too much of a risk, I need an escape plan," Jake says as he stands up. "Follow me, Raven," Jake says as he leaves his office, and Raven follows. Jake leads her through the Ark until they get to a room with an escape pod. Jake pulls the tarp off. "I need you to fix this."

"They must have found this thing when they salvaged Mir-3 in 2102. You want me to get a 130-year-old escape pod ready to stand up to the inferno of re-entry in how long?" Raven asks.

"How long will it take?" Jake asks.

"10 days at least," Raven says. "Why?"

"Because if they arrest me, Raven. My only option is the ground," Jake says. "I need you to realize what I'm asking you, Raven. If you do this, you'll be a criminal. You'll have to come with me," Jake tells Raven.

Raven stays silent for a moment before she nods. "I'll get it done. I"m in," Raven says. "Ain't much for me up here anyway. They'll float my boyfriend when this is all over anyways."

"Okay, get to work. Tell me if you need anything," Jake tells Raven, who nods.

Ten days later

Jake was walked out of his cell and into the meeting area. He sat down in front of Raven. "What the hell, Jake? What happened to wait ten days?" Raven asks him.

"My wife found the reports and showed the council. We argued, my daughter heard, and a few hours later, they came for me," Jake says. "The pod?"

"It's ready, but how the hell are you going to get out of here?" Raven asks.

"Leave that to me, Raven. I have a plan just to be there tonight. Can that pod fit another person?"

"Yeah, probably, but it won't be safe for any of us if we add another person," Raven says.

"Can you make it safe?"

"I can try. Why?" Raven asks.

"Clarke knows, and the council probably knows she knows. They'll keep her quiet. Abby can't keep her safe from them. Listen, Raven. Go to my apartment, tell Clarke what's happening. Go into my room and grab the key card on my desk that will open the armory. Go there, get us guns, and tell Clarke to grab whatever food she can. We all meet at the dropship tonight," Jake tells Raven, who nods as she stands up and leaves.

Raven's P.O.V

Raven knocks on Jake's apartment door. The door opens, and Clarke Griffin looks at her. Clarke is a young woman with a pale complexion, blue eyes, a round face, a dimpled chin, and blonde hair. Clarke is 5'4" and has a medium to slim physique. "Who are you?" Clarke asks her. Raven could tell that the girl had been crying.

"I'm Raven Reyes. I'm a friend of your Dad. We need to talk. Can I come in?" Raven asks Clarke, who nods as she lets her in.

"My Dad's locked up, waiting to be floated," Clarke says.

"I know. He sent me here," Raven tells her. "You're Dad thought this might happen. He had me fix an escape pod, Clarke. He's going to the ground tonight, and you and I are going with him," Raven tells Clarke.

"Escape pods only carry two people," Clarke says.

"I know, so I am going to get what your Dad asked and then go make sure we all make it to the ground alive. Even if the radiation does kill us," Raven tells her. "Get food and anything else. Where is your parent's room?" Clarke points to a door, and Raven goes in and pushes it open. She goes to Jake's desk and grabs the keycard. She walks back out to Clarke.

"What about my Mom?" Clarke asks.

"She has to stay, Clarke. We can't save her too," Raven says.

"But she'll die. She'll run out of air," Clarke says. Raven lays her hands on her shoulder.

"We'll die the same way, Clarke. Either we stay here, and you and Jake are floated, and I die when we run out of oxygen, or we go to the ground. I'll see if I can get a radio. If we live, we can tell the Ark. Now get what we need," Raven orders Clarke who nods as Raven leaves.

Jake's P.O.V

Jake sat down in front of Thelonious Jaha. He has black hair and brown eyes with a dark skin tone. "I wish this could have been done differently, my friend," Jaha says with a sigh.

"As do I," Jake says. "Who was it? Was it Abby?"

"She thought I would try and talk you out of it, but I had to think of everybody, my friend. I came to say goodbye, but I also came to tell you there is hope," Jaha says.

"You can't fix it, Jaha. It's not possible. I would have thought of it if there was," Jake says.

"You're right. It isn't. In one year, we will be sending a hundred prisoners to the ground in the hope that they can save us all. I wish you would have been here to see it," Jaha says.

"I wish that too, but we have dug our graves, Jaha. Now we must lay in them, goodbye, my friend," Jake says before he walks away. Jaha nods as he leaves the prison.

Clarke's P.O.V

Clarke walks back into their apartment after grabbing some food. She shuts the door. "What's in the bag?" Abby asks her. Abby has brown hair and brown eyes. She had a slim build and was of average height.

"Mom," Clarke says as she jumps. "Um, some books for school that Wells is letting me use. I thought you were working late," Clarke says.

"I am. I came here for lunch. How are you doing, sweetie?" Abby asks her.

"I'm getting by, trying not to think about it. I gotta study, Mom," Clarke says as she walks past her. She stops. "Hey, Mom," Abby looks at her. "We're going to be okay. You're going to be okay. I'm going to be okay."

"Yeah, we will," Abby says with a gentle smile.

"Love you, Mom," Clarke says.

"I love you too, sweetie,"

Jake's P.O.V

That night Jake sat with his back against the wall and looked up at the door when it opened. "Coast is clear," The guard says to Jake, who nods as he stands up and hands him a piece of paper.

"You can have all my credits. Thanks," Jake says as he leaves the prison with the guard behind him until he gets out of the prison and into the Ark. He dodged guards and people until he got to the dropship where Clarke and Raven were waiting.

"Dad," Clarke says as she runs up and hugs him. Jake kisses her head and lets her.

"Thank you," Jake says to Raven, who nods.

"Okay, put that on," Raven says as she points to a spacesuit. Jake quickly puts it. "Okay, so I got us a bigger strap and put some pillows on the top of the pop. Clarke will sit on our laps, and the strap should stop her from bouncing around, and the pillows should stop her from busting her head open on the metal," Raven explains to the two, who nodded. "I wasn't able to get a radio."

"That's okay. Jaha already plans on sending down a hundred prisoners in a year," Jake tells them. They look at him in shock, and he nods.

"We'll talk about that later. The guns and food are strapped down. So I say we get off this rust bucket," Raven says with a smile. They nod as they slowly get into the escape pod as alarms start to go off. "Well, they know you are gone," Raven says as she straps them in, and Jake shuts the door. "We launch in five...four...three...two...one," Raven says, and the ship falls and goes into space as it starts to go towards Earth.

Kane's P.O.V

Marcus Kane led a group of guards towards a room when they heard a noise from it. Kane is a tall man in his forties with wavy dark brown hair, eyes, and tan skin. He appears to have an authoritative presence. They enter the room and look around. "What was in this room?" Kane asks.

"A ship, sir. An old escape pod," A guard says.

"Find, Abby and Clarke. Now!" Kane orders them as they quickly leave. Kane walks into the control room where Jaha was.

"Was there a camera in that room?" Jaha asks Sinclair.

"Yeah," Sinclair says as he pulls it up.

"Rewind the footage," Jaha orders him as Abby comes into the room.

"What is going on?" Abby asks.

"Jake escaped," Jaha says as they get back far enough that they see Clarke, Raven, and Jake get into the pod.

"Clarke," Abby says as she stares at her daughter and the ship drops.

"Who was that woman?" Jaha asks.

"Raven Reyes," Sinclair says.

"He was floated, Clarke was floated, Raven was floated. They broke the law and were floated," Jaha says. "Understood?" Jaha asks everybody, who nods. They start to leave, and Jaha lays his hand on Abby's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Abby," Jaha says before he leaves the room.

Jake's P.O.V

Jake opened his eyes after they hid the ground. "Clarke," He says.

"I'm okay," Clarke says. "Raven?"

"Doing great," Raven says as Jake grabs the handle to the dropship. "We're either about to be the first people on the ground in a hundred years, or we will die," Raven says. Jake nods as he pushes the door open, and they feel the wind. Jake stepped out, followed by the other two. They all had grins on their faces. "We did it. We made it to the ground."

Thanks for reading. This is my new 100 story. It is an interesting idea. I'm excited to give Jake a story outside of being Clarke's Dad and an engineer. I have no clue where this story will go, but we have gone pretty far back. It is still a year before the hundred will fall, and there will be scenes both on the ground and the Ark. I have plans with Wells and Murphy. So this will be a Clexa. This will follow the same update schedule as Broken souls. Tuesdays and Fridays unless I say otherwise. Let me know any ideas you may have for the story. Storyline ideas or pairings. Anyways as always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
