CHAPTER 5 - THE FINALE OF LIFE
The rain falls because the sky can no longer handle it's heaviness. Just like tears. They fall because the heart can no longer handle the pain.
In this not so gloomy Friday morning, Will's waking Jay up, and feels the muscle was tense from Jay's body. He reaching Jay's forehead, and he seems a bit warm, more warm than yesterday. He know, that Jay could brings this on, but until that, his body would feel tremble because of the stress.
"Jay...wake up bud..."
"My head hurt..."
"I know bud... come on, we'll be late..I'm going to give u something with that headache"
"Mhmm.."
Will let Jay bring himself to the bathroom and settled down his business. Lindsay been back at her house. She ask Will to brings Jay first, she had an errands to run out. It was an urgent matter, so Will could understand. Will bring along together Jay's meds incase anything happen when they're there. This 2 brothers settled on everything, and Will bringing Jay's down to his car.
Jay reminds silent on the riding. He know, anytime he could breaks the tears that he've been holding down. But he tried to maintain his feelings for now. They prepared for the visitation and arrived at the funeral home early. Jay with his rangers uniform Class -A, Will with his black suit and tie, they're coming into the Church. Since Mouse don't have his family, so what he have is their Intelligence family.. his Military friend is only Jay.. Jay and Mouse had survive, but finally, Mouse left Jay.
Jay sit in the chairs available at the cemetery. Will actually taking a back seat since Jay is in the uniform line, so Will decide to stay back and waited for Lindsay. Will can see one by one of his police officers and friends were there. They all coming through to give the last respects for Greg Gerwitz, the owners of that name. Will also keep his eyes on Jay. Voight take a sit between Jay, and he can see all the Intelligent were there, together with Jay.
"Kid...you're okay?"
"Yes I'm fine, sarge.."
He can see, Jay's wearing his Military uniform, and the Chicago PD wearing their Police uniform. Not so long of waited, Lindsay was there and take a sit between Will. She know Will was there for Jay, and so as her. He pickup a few document to settle down and then bring herself to the cemetery.
Those attending the service should follow the lead of the chaplain, he or she will instruct attendees as to when it is appropriate to sit, stand, or turn your attention toward the flag or casket. Military chaplains generally do a good job of offering instructions to attendees, knowing that not everyone is familiar with military customs.
After the casket was bringing out, they had ready to give their final salute and respect. Jay doesn't bother to go back reaching Will's seat. Since Will and Lindsay having a spacing in the middle, Jay is welcomed. He can't stay in front for too long, the tears keep coming down slowly on Jay's eyes. Will rubbed his back, and then Jay maintain to calm again... He put his hot forehead on Will shoulders. He can feel the heat off coming from Jay's.
"Jay...you're burning up.."
"I'm fine..."
"Yeah...you wanna be here?"
"Yup..Until they send Mouse at the last"
"Okay...hang in there, bud"
Jay take a seat between Will and Lindsay.. Voight give him a look at back, and Will just giving him a nods. Jay put his head on his brother's shoulder. The headache just comes back. Lindsay take his hand, and rubbed his arm slowly... It could calming Jay down. They waited until the last ceremony. Will notice, that Jay's quite and feel he was really exhausted. Will know about it. The tears just rolling down, and slippery from his charming blue eyes. Will shush him, and Lindsay rubbed his back. They are there to give Jay's support no matter how hard it was.
The caisson or funeral coach arrives at the gravesite. Military members present arms ready to salute. Casket team secures the casket. Non-commissioned officer-in-charge, officer-in-charge and chaplain salute. Chaplain, which are there from Militaries and Civilians leads the way to the gravesite, followed by casket team. Casket team sets down the casket and secures the flag. They ensures that the flag is stretched out, level and centered over the casket.
Jay watched as he's ready to gives the salute. They are backs away and chaplain performs the service. Since Mouse is an Army Rangers, and also Police Officers, a cannon salute is fired at conclusion of the interment service and before benediction. Chaplain concludes the service and backs away, They steps up to the casket.
Then, Cemetery representative asks family members to rise for honors. Since Greg don't have a family member, it was always Intelligence to be his first family at all. The officers in-charge presents arms to initiate the rifle volley. Casket team leader starts to fold the flag. Once the flag fold is completed, the flag is passed to the Officer in-charge. Casket team leaves gravesite. The flag is presented to the next of kin.
For veterans of the Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard, an Arlington Lady presents cards of condolence to the next of kin, on behalf of their service chief and the Lady herself. Will and Lindsay's extend condolences. Cemetery representative announces that the service has concluded. Jay gives the last respect to Greg Gerwitz, his wars buddy.
Will gives Jay some excuse for himself, and takes Lindsay leads to the car. Jay was there, all the way until the procedures end. And Jay take a walk to find Will and Lindsay. Jay don't have much feelings until the end. The mood was maintain cool but hurt inside. Voight reach him when he arrives there.
"You're doing good for today, kid"
"Thanks, Sarge!"
"Hey, I let you having how much time you want. Rest, let your body having some more strongest and until then, u will be at district back. You with me?"
"Mhmm..sure Sarge.."
"Thanks for being here, Will, Lindsay.."
"Sure..we're doing anything for Jay and his team"
"Thank you.."
Will sending Jay's to the passengers seats and Lindsay was at the back. Jay seems really off.
"Jay, you're okay? You feel really warm, Jay"
"My head hurt.."
"U didn't take your med yet..after lunch I'm going to give your med, okay?"
"Mhmm..."
"We're sending Mouse until the end. He must be happy to see you're here Jay.."
"Yeah...He...He must..."
Tears, again. He's hurt. How could he leave? Sure he can. Will holding his shoulder, and Lindsay stroking his hair. She know, Jay need his space. Space on accepting the truth. Will brings them out to having a lunch.
"U want to eat here or take away?"
"Here..."
"Lindsay, you're okay?"
"Yeah, sure.."
They goes in that food station. Will ordered a food for him, Lindsay ordered her and Jay's. Jay don't wanna eat anything, he said he's full. But he didn't take anything. Will know, Jay refuses to eat and let himself hold that burden.
"U should eat something. You're stomach would be upset if you take the med without eating something."
"I'm full.."
"Don't be hard on yourself, Jay. That's not good.."
"Mhmm.."
They waited until their foods arrives. Lindsay and Will just about to started on their foods, while Jay slowly tried to eat. They know, Jay couldn't brings it together. They left him be.
Until they finished their food, and Jay started to move the plates, and put his head on top of the table. Will get so worried to watching Jay like this. Lindsay stroking his head. Jay didn't finish his lunch. He can't hold it anymore. Will put his hand on Jay's neck and forehead.
"He's feels warm?"
"Nope, he's burning up.."
"Jay...come, we're going back"
"Kay.."
This time, no bananas. Will had to make Jay eat his med.
"Jay..I know you're facing so much things today. Please, no cranky for today...just 2 pills"
"Lindsay...can you?"
"Holding you up?"
"Mhmm..."
"Come..."
She holding Jay's up, and Will had to put that med inside his mouth and swallowed it with water. Yeah, so hard. Sounds really hard to heared. But that's the things. Jay don't wanna eat and refuses on his med. Will need to tolerate with him. And yup, he make it. Jay rest his head on the headrest. Will made a pitstop, to the pharmacy, and bought Jay a patch, name "Cool Fever". It's the best way to cooling down Jay's heat body. He put that cool fever patch on Jay's forehead. At the beginning, Jay tried to push Will since that patch is a lil bit cool, and Will put it again. Jay doesn't bother. So, he's sleep through the way to Will's apartment.
Jay sleep through the ways, and needed Will to carrying him upstairs. Lindsay brought his med together. He's carrying Jay upstairs and bring Jay's to his bedroom. He sleep very peacefully and didn't recognise it's night already. Will don't want to bother him, so he decided to let Jay having some more rest. Lindsay already going back to her house since she had a few things to settle down. She's a working women. But, since she's back in Chicago after arrived from Atlanta, she decided to takes on a few leaves. So, she can be with Jay. Voight allowed him to having his time for himself.
Will could hear something sounds like whining. It could been meaning Jay. He's fever was increasing a bit, so Will needs to handle him with his nightmare things. When Will slowly pulling the door, he could hear Jay tossing around and calling Mouse in his sleep.
"Mouse..."
Jay...don't you worry about me...I'm no longer pain...I'm happy to be away from them..
Jay...don't be hard on yourself...If you missed me, you can visit me always...
Jay...we're fighting together till the end... I don't want you to be sad for me...It's hurting me...
I wanted you to happy as u used to, until then, I would be very happy...
Move on, Jay...I know it's hard...but I will always watching you from a far away...
Do what u should do, Jay...I will always be in you heart, Jay Halstead.
"Mouse..."
"Jay...wake up.."
"Will..."
"Hey there..."
"Mouse there..."
"You're dreaming, bud.."
"Yeah...Mouse there..."
So, Mouse was in his dreams. Jay talked to Will that Mouse actually wouldn't be happy seeing him like this.. Mouse wants Jay to live a life.. Until then, Mouse would be happy for him. Will rubbed Jay's back, and tears scrolling down on Jay's. But not so long, Jay fall asleep again. He was having a nice nightmare and it's Mouse.. Mouse wanted to said a proper goodbye and wishing to always stay as what he used to..Will continuing on stay a bit longer by Jay side.
Lindsay was there when it comes at 7 in the morning. Before Will leaves Jay's to work, he kissed his forehead, and can feel Jay's a bit cool,,, not as hot as he used to be yesterday. So, he put a cool fever patch on Jay's back. Lindsay coming from the door and straight way to Jay's bed.
"Hey..."
"Hey...Lindsay?"
"Yes, babe.."
"Mhmm.."
"Having a good sleep yesterday? U seems sleepy soundly.."
"Mhmm...Mouse comes in my dreams.."
"Huh...what he said?"
"He wanted me to live and happy"
"He said that... so that's meant u should stay happy Jay"
"But I need you to be always with me.."
"I wouldn't be around things except around you, Jay.."
"How's work..."
"I'm on my leave.. How're you?"
"Good...should I'll be going to works back?"
"Sure...but today is the rest day..at first, get some more healthy food on you, and rest your body..okay?"
"Kay..."
"You feel more cold than yesterday, Jay.."
"Yeahh..."
"Been better?"
"Yes...I'm fine"
"Sure...You are...huh? Haha"
Since Will was coming back to his working space at Chicago Med, Lindsay was taking part on caring Jay for the whole day before they're ready to going back on tracked.. They know, it's love when all you want is that person to be happy, even if you're not part of their happiness. Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness.
"Jay, I'm wishing you lots of love and happiness for today, tomorrow, and always."
