Disclaimer: I do not own Devil May Cry or Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I only own the OC Damian Redgrave.
Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt sat on a silver sofa in her palace on Mount Olympus as she watched her son compete in his first capture the flag game at Camp Half Blood. This was the moment she had been waiting for 14 years. To show the world that she had a son, her one and only child.
Sitting next to her was Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth, Artemis' aunt and Damian's Godmother.
Artemis looked at her aunt with proud eyes. There had been no fooling her favourite aunt during her pregnancy. Hestia was the first to learn of it on her own and swore that she'd keep it secret from the rest of the gods until Artemis is ready to claim her child. The two grew a very mother and daughter-like bond over the course of Artemis' pregnancy. Hestia was there with Dante and Zoe the night Artemis gave birth, and because Artemis was so grateful for her aunt helping her through her first pregnancy and keeping it secret from Zeus, Artemis named her Godmother to Damian, to watch over him since she knew she would be unable to due to the Ancient Laws.
Zoe was shocked at first when she found out about Artemis' pregnancy, but her friendship with Artemis mattered and she helped in having Artemis deliver her son. When Zoe first held Damian after he was born, she immediately took to the role of big sister. Well, Artemis saw her hunters as her own daughters, so that did make them Damian's sisters.
"Your son has grown into a skilled young man." Hestia said with a proud look at her niece as they watched Damian in the Capture the Flag game.
Artemis grinned when seeing Damian get two of Ares' kids stuck to the tree with two arrows pinning them there. "He shows his skill with a bow and arrow. Of course he'd have a natural skill with it due to being my son."
Hestia smiled at seeing Artemis look so happy. For too long Artemis had been without a man to call her lover, her husband, a child to call her own, her own flesh and blood. Now Artemis finally had that and Hestia could see Artemis was the happiest she had ever been in her entire life as a goddess.
"He is a perfect mix of you and Dante." Hestia said with a giggle. "You and Dante raised him well."
Artemis frowned. "I only raised him the first two years of his life before leaving before he could remember me from those years. Those damn laws forbid me from raising my baby and prevented me from hearing his first word, watching him go off to school, kill his first demon."
"You will have your chance to get that mother and son bond with my, my niece." Hestia reassured her, holding Artemis' hand.
When the game was finished and they saw that the blue team had won, both were prepared to begin claiming Damian before they saw a bright light appear above Percy and the trident symbol for Poseidon appeared.
"Not again. Father won't be happy about that." Artemis sighed and as she did thunder boomed in the sky. "This is going to be like Thalia Grace all over again."
"Why do they make oaths that they know they won't keep?" Hestia said shaking her head. "I should've expected my brothers to not keep to that oath."
"I don't think we can really talk about oaths anymore." Artemis said, playing with her dress.
They continued to watch but both Artemis and Hestia both felt a wave panic hit them when they saw a Hellhound from the fields of punishment leap out the bushes and charge towards the group.
When they both saw Damian engage the hellhound, Artemis gripped Hestia's hand a little tightly in worry for her son but exhaled in relief when she saw him easily kill the hellhound with his bow and arrow.
"Now's the time." Artemis whispered as she closed her eyes and focused her energy on her son. It only took a few seconds before Artemis's symbol appeared above Damian's head.
She saw his disbelief on her son's face and could not blame him since everyone knew she hated males. While that was still true the only exceptions were of course Damian and Dante. She also chuckled at the looks of disbelief that everyone was giving.
Just as they were about to bow to Damian, Hestia then claimed Damian as her Godson and her symbol then appeared above his head. She too giggled when she saw the looks on everyone's face.
They both saw Chiron bow and proclaim "Hail Damian Redgrave, Son of Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt and Godson of Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth."
When they did both goddesses closed their eyes mentally preparing for what came next.
Temple of Apollo
In his temple made of solid gold watching the capture the flag game and cheering loudly as the team his children were on won, Apollo, God of the Sun and Prophecy and twin brother to Artemis picked up his iPod and began doing a small victory dance as he began to think of ways to rub in the victory to the gods of the children on the other team.
Though he and Artemis were twins, Apollo always informed he was the older sibling despite being the same age. This did not go well with Artemis as she would constantly scold Apollo especially after he would flirt with her hunters. It was safe to say Artemis was the more mature one of the two.
Apollo had golden blonde hair and blue eyes and looked like your typical teenage boy with California tanned skin and good looks while he was wearing a simple red shirt with jeans and sneakers.
He was not paying attention to what was happening on the Iris video especially with what was happening at the end of the game and did not see Percy get claimed by Poseidon or watch Damian defeat the hellhound as he began to do the Michael Jackson moonwalk across his palace.
When the song he was listening too ended he was about to put on another song when he heard "Hail Damian Redgrave Son of Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt and Godson of Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth."
Apollo just froze mid step and dropped his IPod to the ground which ended up smashing. Slowly he turned his head and let his eyes widen to the size of dinner plates when he saw his sister's symbol glow above the head of the white-haired boy that sent the Ares children packing.
"No way." He whispered before he suddenly shouted "NO WAY!"
He ran out of his temple and darted towards his sister's temple hoping to get answers. "LITTLE SIS WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME" he shouted like a kid who was left out of a secret.
Temple of Aphrodite
The Goddess of Love was currently straddling her lover, Ares, the two making out very heavily, their clothes practically hanging off them at this point. Aphrodite was hardly paying attention to the Capture the flag game in the background since her children mostly stayed out of it.
Thought she could feel Ares tense since he was not happy about his children being beaten by the newly discovered Son of Poseidon.
Aphrodite looks could constantly change due to being the goddess of beauty but currently she had blonde hair that curled into ringlets at the end with ivory coloured skin and brown eyes.
Ares meanwhile had crop top black hair and was buffed up to the max which made him look like a very intimidating person. He currently wore sunglasses around his eyes with eyes made of red fire.
The god and goddess were not exactly close with Artemis since said goddess did not believe in love or like males, so naturally she and Aphrodite would clash at times which mostly involved Aphrodite trying to set her up with one of the gods or a mortal. Each time Aphrodite was sent packing.
With Ares, she thought he was just an overgrown chimp who couldn't keep it in his pants.
As the two were making out Aphrodite was about to start having sex with Ares before they both heard "Hail Damian Redgrave, Son of Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt and Godson of Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth."
Both Ares and Aphrodite's kissing came to a halt as their heads slowly moved towards the Iris video and saw Artemis and Hestia's symbols above Damian's head.
Both were completely silence as they tried making sense of what they just heard. The gears in Aphrodite's head began moving before, out of nowhere, Aphrodite let out the loudest, most high pitched squeal the gods had ever heard.
Her clothes changed into a short white dress with white heels before she jumped of Ares lap and ran out of her temple shouting. "ITSSSSS FINALLY HAPPENED! I WANT DETAILSSSSSSS!
Ares meanwhile slowly followed after her as he checked he still had his hearing.
"Am I deaf?" he kept shouting to himself as he tapped his ears.
Hermes and Demeter
"And here is your package, Demeter." Hermes, God of Messengers and Medicine, said as he handed over a wrapped up package and handed it over to the Goddess of the Harvest and the Seasons.
Said goddess took the package and Hermes looked over her shoulder to see she had been watching the capture the flag game before a big goofy grin appeared on his face.
Hermes was one of the younger Olympian gods and had black hair with blue eyes that all his children seemed to inherit. He was currently wearing an everyday mailman outfit along with the mail bag strapped across his waist.
Demeter also had black hair just like many of the other that was tied together with dried up pieces of grass. Her eyes were a dark brown colour and she was wearing a wheat golden dress that went down to her ankles.
"My boy got the flag." Hermes said with pride evident all over his face and puffed out his chest making him look like a proud father.
"Yes, joy, oh joy." She said in a monotone voice, obviously not happy that the team her children was on had lost. "Tell me why you never answer my messages Hermes? I always end up getting voice mail."
"Urm w-well you s-see Demeter..." Hermes said, not wanting to tell her it was because she was bloody annoying and every conversation with her somehow ended up with cereal. He had over a hundred message from her weekly.
"Hail Damian Redgrave, Son of Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt and Godson of Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth."
Both whipped their heads around and saw the symbols above Damian as their jaws fell wide open and both feeling weak in the knees at the proclamation.
"Well this is a surprise." Martha the snake said as she too saw the Iris video.
"This is as big of a shock as Paris and Helen." George said before Hermes quickly silenced the two.
Both god and goddess looked at each other getting over the initial shock before nodding and teleporting away at the same time while Hermes was thanking Artemis for the perfect timing since he could not think of a decent lie to tell Demeter since she somehow always knew when he was lying.
Temple of Athena
Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and Battle, sat in her grand library with a proud smile on her face as she just watched her daughter, Annabeth, lead her team to victory over the Ares cabin and their allies.
She was also impressed at how the young man Damian, who her daughter seemed to have taking a liking too, had handled himself against the Ares children. A shame he wasn't her child.
However, she frowned when Poseidon had claimed his son when he had an oath to stick too and muttered. "Stupid barnacle beard. Why am I not surprised Poseidon broke the oath as well?"
She then watched as a hellhound attacked but was defeated quickly by Damian who's skill with a bow and arrows looked very familiar.
Athena had black hair that was tied into a braid with golden ribbons and had stormy grey eyes that all her children inherited. She currently wore a regal white dress along with golden sandals.
She and Artemis were each other's favourite sisters. Out of all of the siblings they have, brother and sister alike, Artemis was closer to Athena.
As she watched, she just took a drink of water from a glass jug beside her when she saw Artemis's and Hestia's symbols appear above Damian's head which made her spit out her drink in disbelief and caused the Iris video to ripple from the water.
"WHAT!" She shouted, getting a little taken back before dashing out of her temple intent on getting to the bottom of what she just saw.
The Hunters
The Hunters of Artemis all sat round the fire with both shock and disbelief shown evident on their face at what they had just seen and heard. Their Lady had just claimed that she had a child and a son no less.
Many had dropped their plates of food on the floor when they saw it and were even more taken back when Hestia had also claimed him as her Godson. Their lady would not have a child. THEY were her children. Not some boy.
After a quick silence, many of the girls jumped up from their seats with anger and confusion on their faces shouting out their thoughts and scaring the nearby animals.
"THIS HAS TO BE A TRICK! LADY ARTEMIS WOULD NEVER HAVE A CHILD! ESPECIALLY HAVE A DUMB BOY!" one of the hunters called out with many in agreement.
"It's that camp. I bet this is just a trick for all the times we beat them." Another with a bit of smugness in her voice. "Lady Artemis would never break her oath. Never."
"Enough!" Zoe shouted, silencing all. "It's the truth. Damian is Lady Artemis' son."
"You knew?!" Several Hunters shouted.
Zoe nodded. "I do. Have you ever wondered why Lady Artemis would take long leaves of absence 14 years ago? It's because she was trying to hide her pregnancy from everyone because this is the reaction she expected from us. I was shocked as well and demanded answers from her, but I helped her through her pregnancy and even held Damian in my arms."
"Who's the father?" One of the younger Hunters asked curiously.
Zoe's lips quirked into a smirk. "Dante, the son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda."
Temple of Artemis
"I can feel the shaking all over Olympus." Artemis said with a pinch to the bridge of her nose. Hestia just smiled and wrapped an arm around her niece's shoulders.
Only a minute passed when the doors to her palace swung open. Artemis looked over and was not surprised to see that it was her twin brother Apollo who arrived first. He was looking at her with a hurt face which she thought was most likely because she hadn't told him any sooner. However, that look quickly changed to the biggest smile she had ever seen on him in a long time before he rushed towards her, picked her up in a hug and spun her around.
"Why didn't tell me?! My little sis is finally a momma! Tell me who the man is that managed to earn my sister's love!" He said with glee as Artemis rolled her eyes before knocking him on the head signalling to put her down.
"Don't ever do that again!" She said in a scolding tone to her twin. "I have my reasons why I did not tell you and secondly don't call me little sis. We are twins. We are the same age. How many times must we argue about this?"
"Fine, fine." He waved but the smile on his face never faded. "I feel a haiku coming on." He said getting a groan from Artemis and a giggle from Hestia.
Artemis smacked the back of her brother's head. "Don't even bother with that ridiculous crap."
"Woah, Artemis, never thought you'd use such language." Apollo said, a little impressed.
"Yeah, well, I learned it from my husband." Artemis rolled her eyes then she heard a very familiar squealing. "Oh Chaos no, I forgot about her..."
Then the second person Artemis absolutely dreaded coming, the first being her father, appeared. Aphrodite appeared in front of her before she grabbed Artemis in a uncomfortable hug, squealing like a mad school girl who had too much sugar.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" She squealed. "I want to know everything. How did you meet? What did he look like? What was your first date like? Howe big was his"-
"Woah!" Artemis said, putting her hand on Aphrodite's mouth. "Do not finish that sentence." She growled out, causing Aphrodite to roll her eyes but still have a look of excitement.
"Fine, but I want to hear all about it." She said in a sing-song voice. sitting down on one o the sofas next to Apollo.
"I also would like to hear it." Athena said. walking into the temple, giving a firm nod to Artemis before sitting on the couch with the others. "I am most surprised to find you have a son, Artemis. I thought you would've told me."
She was a little hurt her favourite sister hadn't told her about it.
Slowly one by one, the rest of the Olympians appeared in Artemis's temple all with the intention of finding out about what just happened. Hermes and Demeter arrived just after Athena who was then followed by Ares, and then Hephaestus who could be heard a mile away with the metal on his right leg making a clunking sound on the ground.
Her half brother looked like he usually did with a blacksmith's apron around his waists along with a black vest and orange jumpsuit pants which showed off his misshapen head and right shoulder but did display his muscular form he had gained from being a blacksmith. Though he was clean, thankfully, since Artemis knew how filthy he got from working in the forges.
After that, Artemis along with everyone else were surprised to see Hera also walk in seemingly wanting answers too. It was surprising since Artemis and Hera had never exactly been close and she along with Athena, Apollo and Hermes were symbols of Zeus's infidelity in Hera's eyes.
Hera currently had brown hair that like Athena was tied in golden ribbons and went down her back and had chocolate brown eyes. She was taller than most of the other goddesses and wore a white dress that rippled like oil on water. She eyed Artemis and Hestia before she took a seat next to her sister Demeter.
As Artemis looked around, she saw the only ones missing were her father Zeus and her two uncles Poseidon and Hades.
"So I take it you all want answers." She said, glancing at everyone who all nodded back.
"You can imagine our surprises when we find out one of the Virgin Goddesses has a child and my sister claimed that child as her Godson." Hera said coolly as she looked between Artemis and Hestia.
"How did we not even notice you were pregnant in the first place?" Hermes asked curiously.
"Because I hid it." Hestia said, drawing attention to her. "Had Artemis revealed her pregnancy, you would react the way you are now and start sticking your noses in business that don't concern you. Artemis was already scared enough at the time, with it being her first pregnancy, she didn't need the stress of you annoying her."
"Before we explain, my hunters may as well be here." Artemis said and snapped her fingers, causing her hunters to appear in a silver light. As soon as they saw Artemis, they immediately started demanding answers.
"Enough!" Artemis commanded, silencing her hunters. "Take a seat and I will explain."
Zoe gave her fellow hunters a look and they sat down, Zoe soon following. All attention was on Artemis and Hestia.
"As you all know, a boy was just claimed as my son and Hestia's Godson." Arteis said, getting nods from all. "Well first off, Damian is my son. he is not adopted or anything, I carried him and gave birth to him."
Artemis sighed before she began her story.
"It was 19 years ago when I went hunting. I had been tracking a strange creature that had been killing mortals in the forest and I tracked it to the city of Redgrave City. When I found the creature, it was no monster from our pantheon, it was in fact a demon."
Multiple eyes widened at this reveal. The gods hadn't encountered demons, but they knew of the Demon world and their fallen emperor Mundus.
"The demon put up a challenging fight and nearly bested me when... he appeared." Artemis said with a smile, causing Aphrodite to clap her hands excitedly, causing Artemis to give her an annoyed look. "He was hunting the demon as well, having tracked it to the forest on the outskirts of the city. When I first saw him, he was cocky, brash, an annoying fool... I show him in the head with an arrow."
"No surprise there." Apollo snorted, getting an annoyed look from Artemis before she continued.
"I was stunned when I saw him get back up and pull the arrow out from his skull and he said to me 'What is it with my luck with women?'" Artemis giggled as she remembered Dante's words. "We teamed together to take down the demon and he introduced himself as Dante the Devil Hunter. Naturally I didn't care who he was or wanted to be near him and left... but my curiosity was piqued. A month later, I returned to Redgrave to speak with Dante and demand to know why he healed from my arrow to his skull, when I witnessed a tower rise from the middle of the city."
"A tower?" Athena asked, getting a nod.
"I knew it was something dangerous and made my way to investigate when I ran into Dante, who was a bit more serious and told me to stay out of it, but I refused and followed him. Eventually he told me. The tower had been raised by his older twin brother, Vergil."
"Hey, he has a twin as well." Apollo said.
"Anyway, Dante only told me that his brother was obsessed with gaining power and that the tower, the Temen-Ni-Gru as it was called, was a gateway to the demon world." Artemis continued. "Dante and I fought beside one another, killing multiple demons, met a strange mortal who Dante nicknamed 'Lady'. Along the way, Dante questioned why I was still around and helping him, I told him I wasn't, I just wanted to find out what's going on. Along the way, Dante told me of his story. He was the son of a demon and a mortal woman... he was the son of Sparda."
All the eyes of the gods widened except Hestia's. Several of the hunter's eyes widened except for the younger ones who didn't know.
"Who's Sparda?" One of them asked.
Artemis looked at her. "Sparda was a mighty demon swordsman who is known as the Legendary Dark Knight. He was right hand to the Demon Emperor himself, Mundus. About 2,000 years ago, Sparda rebelled against his kind for the sake of humanity after seeing the tyranny and injustice of the Dark Emperor. Anyway, Dante told me he despised his father, because of him demons attacked and killed his mother and Vergil was on the path he was on."
"Did you confront this Vergil?" Demeter asked.
Artemis nodded. "Yes. He was more skilled and powerful than Dante. He even took me on with ease but I did have to hold back due to the laws. Vergil stabbed Dante with his own sword, which caused Dante's Devil's blood to awaken. Long story short, a man named Arkham had been manipulating events in his favour so he could become a god and gain the power of Sparda. Dante, Vergil and I worked together to defeat him, then Dante and Vergil had one final battle that ended with Vergil falling into the demon world. Dante and I escaped before the portal shut and the tower was destroyed. After that, I realized Dante had become a friend of mine, the first male friend I had since... Orion."
"Over the next few years, I continued to meet with him and we hunted demons together alongside Lady, who was Arkham's daughter. It was nearly five years after the events of Temen-Ni-Gru that I realized I had fallen in love with Dante."
Aphrodite giggled. "It finally happened, you finally met a man. Is he handsome?
"Very." Artemis smirked before continuing. "I... I had been so confused as I had never fallen in love before, what I had with Orion wasn't what I felt for Dante. My turmoil allowed a demon to gain the upper hand on me and would've killed me had Dante not arrived to save me. My emotions burst fourth and that's when I kissed him."
"Yo go girl!" Aphrodite cheered.
"Dante was shocked and stumped, especially since I had told him who I was and he asked why I did that. I told him it was because I loved him. To put that story short, I married Dante and Damian was soon born several months later."
"I grew suspicious with Artemis' long absences and followed her." Hestia continued from there. Shen then blushed and cleared her throat as Artemis looked embarrassed. "I happened to have caught Artemis and Dante in a rather... intimate moment. Anyway, Artemis explained everything and begged me not to tell Zeus, and I swore on the Styx that I wouldn't. And I swore to help her with her pregnancy and keep it secret from everyone. If you all found out about it, you wouldn't leave her alone."
"Zoe was suspicious as well and found out about it but promised to help." Artemis said with a grateful smile at her lieutenant who smiled back.
"Wait! You kept the child in your womb for nine months. Like a mortal woman?" Asked Hera, who was surprised at Artemis for bearing a child for that long.
"Yes." Artemis nodded.
"And he was born in wedlock?" Hera asked, getting another nod which made Heras respect for Artemis go up a bit, as well as her liking towards Damian because he was born in wedlock, not out of wedlock like most demigods.
"Hmm, the punk ain't bad." Ares said finally speaking up. "Could make a good challenge since he's Sparda's grandkid." He said, grinning, before the look was wiped off his face from the glare Artemis was giving him and got a slap on the back of the head from Aphrodite.
"Stay away from my son, Ares. If I find out you have hurt him in any way, shape or for, I will be sticking an arrow where the sun doesn't shine." She said, surprising everyone at how protective she was.
"Someone's protective." Hermes whispered to Hephaestus before she gave him the same look that shut him up.
"Oh I will make he has such a great love life. There are already so many girls that are falling for him." Aphrodite said and then Artemis gazed over towards her.
"Don't even try it." She glared. "If you mess with my son, I will make sure you will regret it."
She then turned her attention to her hunters.
"Girls, may I ask what your opinion about this are?" she asked seeing the girls glance between themselves. They looked a little nervous and she could not blame them. She doubted this was a situation they ever imagined they would get in to.
"It'll take some time for them to adjust to this." Zoe said. "Judging by my reaction when I found out, it'll take a while but they'll accept it and maybe even love Damian like our own brother."
Artemis smiled. "Thank you, Zoe."
"Well I think that is enough excitement for one day." Hera said standing up and breaking the silence. "I believe it time we all left. We came here for answers and we have been given them. And Chaos knows there's going to be arguments tonight with the reveal of Poseidon's son. Zeus will not be happy. I'm surprised he hasn't stormed here to demand answers of you, Artemis."
"He's most likely too angry at the reveal of Poseidon's son." Hestia pointed out...
And that's it for this chapter.
