The stranger carried Hilda a few hundred yards away from the castle ruins and found a good place to stop and put the little troll girl down behind a large boulder.
"Are you ok?" The stranger asked Hilda.
"I'm ok. Thanks for saving me back there. But who or what exactly are you?" Said Hilda.
"My name is James Lake Jr., though you can just call me Jim. As to what I am, well it's a bit complicated. You see I'm the Trollhunter."
"Trollhunter? So you hunt trolls?" Asked Hilda.
"Not exactly. You see I hunt down bad trolls and creatures that threaten good trolls and humans. I'm a bit surprised you didn't know that since you're a troll." Said Jim.
"We'll I've never heard of anyone called a Trollhunter. You...see I wasn't born a troll. I was born a human and thanks to a changeling spell cast by a worried troll mom named Trylla, I'm now a troll." Said Hilda.
"A human that's been turned into a troll. Guess that makes two of us." Said Jim.
"Wait you used to be human and now you're a troll?" Asked Hilda.
"I am. Why don't you tell me your name and I'll tell you how I became a troll and then you tell me how you ended up turning into a troll and why you were trying to steal that orb from that big troll." Said Jim.
"My name is Hilda." Said Hilda.
"Nice to meet you Hilda." Said Jim.
Jim then began to Hilda about his adventures as the Trollhunter. He told her about requiring the Amulet of Daylight, meeting and learning about trolls, learning to use a sword, facing off against deadly enemies, traveling to different parts of the world and strange places, meeting Merlin, choosing to become a troll, the fight with Morgana, traveling to New Jersey, and finally coming across the strange door that transported him to the throne room where he found Hilda running from the big troll. Jim also pulled out his cellphone and showed Hilda pictures of himself back in his human form and of his friends Claire, Toby, Blinky, and AAARRRGGHH!.
Hilda was amazed and awed by Jim's story. She then told Jim about how she ended up a troll and how she was doing favors for a troll named Trundle who said he could turn Hilda back into being a human.
"Maybe Trundle can make you human." Said Hilda.
Jim frowned and scratched his chin in though. He wanted to return to being human, but this whole thing with Trundle was a little suspicious.
"Hilda, are you sure Trundle can actually make you human and if he can, will he?" Asked Jim.
"What do you mean?" Asked Hilda.
"I mean how well do you actually know Trundle? Is he a good troll who intends to help you or is he just taking advantage of you to help himself and not help you in return?" Asked Jim.
"I...don't know. Trundle says he can help me and I just want to return to being human and being back with my mom and friends." Said Hilda as a few tears fell from her eyes.
"Hey it's ok. I know what you're dealing with." Said Jim putting a comforting hand on Hilda's shoulder.
Hilda looked up at Jim.
"So what are we supposed to do?" Asked Hilda.
"Well first I think we need to ask the trolls about Trundle and see what they know about him. If we hear good things about him, we get the orb for him. If we hear bad things about him we don't help him and figure something else out. I might actually have a way to get you back into Trolberg, but will focus on getting info on Trundle first." Said Jim.
"Ok." Said Hilda wiping her tears away and smiling.
The two headed off into the tunnels to collect information and figure out their next move.
To be continued.
