Jim in his troll-half form stumbles upon a strange door that takes him to another universe, where he encounters Hilda who has recently been turned into a troll and is trying to change back into a human. The two of them become friends as they try to return to being human and help both the trolls and the human citizens of Trolberg.

Chapter 9 Discussion

Jim and Hilda headed to the living room and sat on the couch, while Johanna closed the window blinds and pulled down the curtains. Baba continued to play with the blocks, when Twig entered the living room and saw Hilda. The little deer-fox looked excited as he jumped onto the couch and rubbed himself against Hilda as she petted him.

"I missed you too Twig." Said Hilda with a smile.

"What's going on?" Asked Tontu as he emerged from beneath a dresser.

"Hilda's back." Said the tiny voice of Alfur from a table.

"Ok, so I figure that the hairy guy is Tontu the Nisse, but who was that who just spoke? I don't see anyone." Said Jim.

"Oh that's Alfur the elf, he's both tiny and invisible. You won't be able to see him, until you sign some paperwork." Said Hilda as she went over to the the table and put her hand down.

Hilda then walked back from the table to Jim and he saw what appeared to be the tiniest piece of paper he had ever seen in her hand. Johanna walked over and handed Jim a magnifying glass and a pen. Jim took the paper, the magnifying glass, and pen and headed to the table. He used the magnifying glass to study the paper and see where he needed to sign and used the pen to sign it. Jim then looked at the table and saw the tiny figure of of Alfur.

"Hello. Nice to meet you. I am Alfur Aldric, of the Northern Counties." Said Alfur.

"I'm James Lake Jr., though you can just call me Jim." Said Jim.

"So now that those introductions are out of the way, why don't you tell us, what's happened." Said Johanna.

"Well I guess I might as show you what I actually look like now." Said Hilda as she removed the glamour mask and showed her troll form.

Johanna and the others were a little surprised by the form, but they weren't afraid. Hilda explained what had happened to her and how she met Jim. Jim decided to remove his own glamour mask showing his troll form and then he explained his background, how he met Hilda, and how he might have traveled to a different universe. Johanna and the others were amazed by the stories. Tontu was interested in Jim's theory about coming from another universe.

"You know this door you mentioned could have possibly been created by my people's ancestors. I could do some digging and ask around to see if there's a way to get you back to your own universe." Said Tontu.

"Thank you. That would be very helpful." Said Jim.

"Now let's discuss how we're going to change Hilda and Baba back to their original forms and possibly help Jim change back as well." Said Johanna.

"Well I think Frida might be able to help. She's learning to be a witch and if she can't help, then her teachers at the library might be able to." Said Hilda.

"Guess it's worth a shot. Will give Frida a call tomorrow night and head to the library." Said Johanna.

The plan was made. Johanna took Hilda, Jim, and Baba upstairs to Hilda's room and got a couple of sleeping bag out for Jim and Hilda to use. The bed had been made into a makeshift crib for Baba.

"Now don't you worry Hilda, were going to find a way to fix all of this, but no matter what happens or what you look like, I still love you." Said Johanna as she kissed Hilda's forehead.

"I love you too mom." Said Hilda.

Johanna left the room and Hilda, Jim, and Baba went to sleep.
