At Hilda's home, Hilda was experiencing a very odd dream. Hilda found herself in troll form standing in the wild next to some mountains. The ground beneath her began to shake as a massive hand rose out of the ground lifting Hilda up. Hilda found herself being lifted towards a massive shadowy figure with glowing white eyes. The figure appeared to be a troll, yet despite it's size and shadowy appearance Hilda found herself not afraid of troll and felt very calm. Hilda could see kindness and love in the troll's eyes. The troll lifted Hilda to it's face and studied her.

"Hello little one. It's been such a long time since I have spoken with one of my children." Said the troll.

"Who are you?" Asked Hilda.

"I am Amma the mother of trolls."

That would explain the calming and loving presence Hilda felt from the troll. She was a mother. Hilda decided it was best to come clean with what she truly was.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but I'm not really a troll. I'm a human named Hilda and I'm currently under a changeling spell that has made me into a troll." Said Hilda.

A sad look appeared in Amma's eyes for a few moments and then was replaced by a sympathetic look.

"You poor thing. Being turned into a troll must have been a real ordeal." Said Amma.

"It's been a rough adjustment. You wouldn't happen to know how to undo the spell would you?" Said Hilda.

"Been a very long time since I thought about magic or changeling spells. I think the removal of the spell required a simple method, but I can't remember it. I'm sorry." Said Amma.

"That's ok. I'm sorry I'm not a real troll." Said Hilda.

"That's not your fault. I'm just happy to have someone to talk to after all these years. Been buried and asleep for a very long time." Said Amma.

"So this is a dream?" Asked Hilda.

"It is. That is how we are communicating. I sensed your presence in the city and I reached out to you, when you fell asleep." Said Amma.

"So you were the presence I sensed when I got into the city." Said Hilda.

"I am. I've been calling out to my children over the years to get them to come close so I can reconnect with them. You see I can't move from where I am physically, since I would destroy the city and kill the people in it." Explained Amma.

"Um I don't really follow." Said Hilda.

"Oh I guess I need to start from the beginning. You see me and my children came from another world. I wasn't nearly as big as you see me now and we were constantly being threatened by a race of trolls called Gumm-Gumms. We decided to flee the world by working together with a race of creatures called the Nisses to create a door to transport us to another world. We succeeded, but our door accidentally breached into another realm and brought a horrible dark creature into this world. The creature was very destructive and devoured everything in it's path, including trolls. I was forced to use some powerful magic to grow to giant size and fight the creature off and scare it off. Afterwards things were very peaceful and then one day I fell into a deep slumber. I slept so long that the earth and plants covered me up and I looked no different from any other piece of land. At one point a group of farmers and villagers settled on top of me and built a little community. I was partially awake, but I couldn't move since I didn't want to harm the humans, so I just waited for them to leave. But as time went by more humans arrived and they built a city on top of me, so I cannot leave and I lost contact with my children. I'm only able to release small echoes from my mind to my children, but nothing else. If they could get into the city, I could reconnect with them with my mind without risking the city or the humans." Said Amma.

"That's quite a story." Said Hilda.

Hilda took a few moments to process the story, before she went in and told Amma about her adventures of being a troll and what she had learned about the trolls out in the wild. Amma was happy to hear what was going with her children, though she was a little disheartened to hear about what had become of Trundle.

"Trundle was a bright and skilled troll, though he had different views on how to handle situations. I wish I could speak with him and try to mend things between him and Brundle. It's very sad to hear my oldest sons have had a falling out." Said Amma.

"You know maybe I can help figure out how to get the trolls into the city to reconnect with you. I have a lot of friends who will listen to me and together we could tell everyone in the city about you and convince them to let the trolls into the city. Maybe then things would be different between humans and trolls." Said Hilda.

"You would do that for me?" Asked Amma.

"Of course. You're a good troll, who put the needs of the people of Trolberg first before your own and you just want to reconnect with your family. The trolls want to reconnect with you. If we do that everyone would be happy." Said Hilda.

"You really are a brave and kind girl, Hilda. I do like the sound of that and I do hope you and your friend Jim are able to return to being human." Said Amma.

"Thanks." Said Hilda with a smile.

To be continued.
