More fluff- including Annabeth tackling a terrible tourist, and a photo op which would really annoy Athena, and possibly Poseidon though he never seemed as against Percy and Annabeth's friendship in cannon.

Thickneck: There is much niceness in this minific.
Undeath9087: That would be one of Annabeth's leading points, "Yeah mom, so one of my new friends is the daughter of a pretty well known scholar who specialises in Egyptology, and her mom's a famous author. She was raised by two very smart people and she's super smart herself even if she's kinda ridiculous-"
Athena: "She sounds like a good ally-"
Annabeth:"And uh, her godly parent just happens to be Poseidon."
Athena: "NO!"
Rage2091: It really is.
Zephyr0f8: Or if Carter is there, Percy just turning to them like, "can I?" and Carter like. "Fine, you can break the rule just once" and then Percy just going crazy.
Batmanuchiha: Thanks for pointing it out!
Oujiswan: Thank you!
Noir Nyan: Hehehehe.
Guest: They're fairly well known around the world- and also the whole House of Life knows and many of them find it hilarious. Amos is very proud.
The last time Percy had visited the Acropolis she'd been nine years old. They hadn't bothered with the tours then either. They paid for their tickets and headed into the site, and Percy and Piper stuck close to Annabeth, who looked like she'd died and gone to heaven.
Carter and Zia had headed off on their own- they'd agreed to meet in two hours time.
Until then the three girls could wander on their own.
And of course Annabeth made a beeline for the Parthenon- Percy could understand that. It was considered one of the main attractions of the Acropolis- and it was nice, watching the way the girls face lit up as they walked around it. They weren't allowed to go inside- which was a shame but, well, they were still able to look at it.
"It's beautiful." Annabeth breathed the words, "The doric columns, all of it- if I could build something like this- something that would last for thousands of years. I think- I think then I'd be really happy."
"You will some day." Piper told her, "You seem passionate about it. And smart too."
"This-" Annabeth swallowed hard, "My mother."
"Your mother?" Percy tilted her head curiously, "You've never mentioned her before."
"My mother is Athena." Annabeth whispered the words, "This temple was decimated to her."
"Oh." Piper's eyes widened, "That- must feel... weird."
"Yeah." Annabeth nodded, "You could say that." she swallowed hard as she stared at the ruins. "I..." she shook her head. "Sometimes I wonder what she thinks of me. If doing something like that would make her proud."
"Can't you just ask her?" Percy asked almost hesitantly, "I know the gods probably aren't that present but-" Annabeth's slightly bitter laugh made Percy trail off.
"The gods- they have rules Percy. It's not like for you guys. Not like with Walt- or with your dad or the other gods who you told me about. Ours don't interact much. There's ancient laws that forbid them from interfering in our lives. Not that I think they'd bother if the laws didn't exist. Half of the time they don't even acknowledge us." Annabeth wrapped her arms around herself protectively. "I don't agree with what Luke did. I- you know that. I tried to turn him in because of how wrong what he did was. But our gods. They don't really seem to care like yours do. The closest I've come to meeting my mother was a visit to Olympus for the Winter Solstice. And even then she didn't talk to me. I did get a present from her, I left it back at Brooklyn House but- that's all I've ever had. I thought that maybe- maybe if I had a quest she'd notice me."
"If she doesn't notice you then who cares what she thinks." Piper spoke up, a determined gleam in her eyes. "You shouldn't feel like you need to fight for a parents attention." and Percy winced slightly at the look on Piper's face.
Piper and Annabeth definitely had more understanding of one another there than Percy did. Sure Piper had learned to accept her fathers distance but it was never easy for her.
"Maybe." Annabeth ducked her head, "But I don't exactly know what else I'm supposed to do. I'm a demigod. We're supposed to be heroes. To do amazing things. Go on quests. Do the gods bidding. I've been training since I was a kid to be a hero. To be remembered. To be noticed but-"
"We notice you." Percy said the words easily- and she wasn't entirely sure why Annabeth's face flushed a bright shade of red. "When you say you've been training-" Percy hesitated, "My mom told me about a camp for Demigods. Is that where-"
"Yes." Annabeth nodded, "I've been there since I was seven." and didn't that just bring up a boat load of questions. Had Annabeth's family sent her there? And- it sounded like she lived there based on the way she'd said that.
Percy couldn't imagine that. What about Annabeth's home? What about her mortal parent? Percy knew for a fact that her mother wouldn't have been able to bare being parted from Percy if they were expected to just live there. But- Annabeth never mentioned her family. And Percy had to guess that there was some kind of reason behind that.
She was pulled out of that thought because Annabeth had spotted something.
Her eyes were narrowed, and Percy followed her gaze.
There was woman, maybe in her late twenties talking to one of the guards wondering around the ruins.
There were a fair few of them, clearly there to stop tourists from causing trouble or vandalizing the sight.
And Percy knew a distraction when she saw one. She'd been the distraction more than once- one time she and Piper had gone to China purely to steal back some Egyptian artefact that had been stolen years before.
Since Percy was the one who could speak the language she had played distraction- and Piper used the charms Walt had given her to get into the display case.
She couldn't use magic in the same way as Percy could, but different amulets could be used without magic.
And on one memorable occasion they'd broken into some rich assholes house to steal back a Totem pole that he'd stolen.
That had been Piper's idea. It wasn't connected with the Cherokee, if Percy remembered right it had been a very very old one stolen from the Tsimshian tribe. But still, Piper did try and stay connected to her fathers heritage even if it wasn't always easy, and when they'd heard the rumors the idea of some rich dude thinking he could steal an important Native artefact had angered her.
So they'd broken in, and when they'd been caught Piper had distracted him whilst Percy had used her magic to shrink the Totem pole and sneak it out.
Both times they'd gotten away with zero issues.
So yeah, Percy knew how to tell when people were playing distraction, and that lady was 100% distracting that guard.
And Annabeth had clearly spotted the reason for that distraction because the daughter of Athena was moving quickly, ducking through the crowds and- Percy cursed under her breath in Greek as she rushed after the other girl, Piper hot on their heels as they headed into the Partheon, ducking behind marble columns as Annabeth rushed at a woman, presumably the other womans friend.
And gods what was it with asshole tourists? The lady had a freaking chisel in her bag- Percy had to marvel at the sheer audacity-but she'd seen it before in Egypt. Tourists who wanted to be able to say they'd taken part of some famous sight home with them. Her father wasn't a violent man but she could distinctly remember him dragging one man away from the Pyramid of Giza by the back of his shirt because he'd tried to chip off a piece of the stone.
Annabeth was not quite so tactful.
She tackled her- and Percy burst out laughing despite herself as the woman let out a high pitched shriek which was so high that Percy was pretty sure if it got an octave higher only dogs would be able to hear it, and the little chisel she'd been about to use to try and chip away a chunk of marble from one of the columns went skidding across the marble floor.
And of course the screaming caught the attention of the security guard- who dragged himself away from whatever conversation he'd been having with the other lady- who Percy noticed tried to bolt only to get tripped by Piper.
By the time the guard reached Annabeth the daughter of Athena had managed to pin the womans arms behind her back and she was sat on top of her as the crazy lady screamed that she was being assaulted.
"What is going on here?" the guards expression was shocked to say the least, and Percy almost skipped over to the chisel, picking it up and holding it up.
"My friend saw that lady sneaking in while you were talking to her friend. She had this sir."
"She-" the man blinked, his eyes flicking between the two girls and then flicking to Piper, who had her foot on the other ladies back as more of the guards came rushing towards them.
Then he gave a small nod. "I see. Thank you. We will take it from here."
"Of course." Percy held out her hand for Annabeth, who took it and she let Percy help her to her feet.
They quickly rejoined Piper outside of the Parthenon- and Percy eyed Annabeth carefully as they moved on.
She was smiling proudly- but Percy could see that she was starting to get unsteady.
She glanced at her watch, they had around half an hour before they were supposed to meet Carter and Zia. She'd keep an eye on Annabeth.
The next time they stopped was in front of another building, which Annabeth informed them was called the Erechtheion.
That was familiar to Percy, but she couldn't quite place where she'd heard it before. Not until Annabeth pointed out the olive tree, and then she pointed to a damaged section of stone. "This is where my mom and Lord Poseidon competed to be the patron of Athens." Annabeth told them. "That must be the spot where he struck the stone. And obviously the tree's been replanted. I read that they make sure there's always one here."
"Percy-" Piper was suddenly grinning, "Photo op or what?"
"Oh that is a hell of a photo op." Percy beamed, "Annabeth, go stand by the tree-"
"Uh- sure but why-"
"Because, it's funny." Percy declared as Annabeth moved to stand in front of the tree while Percy crouched behind the damaged stone, holding out her hands towards it as if to say 'ta da!'.
Piper made quick work of taking the pictures before shaking her head, "I love the irony there."
"What irony?" Annabeth's eyes narrowed and then, "No!"
"Yes." Percy grinned despite herself, "I guess I never actually told you huh. My dad's-"
"You're a daughter of-"
"Yep." Percy nodded, and Annabeth gaped at her in shock for a moment before she laughed.
"That explains so much- why you're- what do they call it in the books?"
"A water elementalist." Percy prompted, "Yeah, it's in my blood." she paused, "I guess it means that our parents didn't really like each other huh-"
"I don't care." Annabeth said quickly, "I don't care that they didn't like each other. You're my friend. Both of you." she glanced between Percy and Piper, "I don't- I don't make friends easy. It's- I'm not always good with people but you're my friends."
"That's good." Piper smirked, "Because see, Percy is a stubborn one and I think she decided that you weren't getting rid of her while I was visiting my dad and granddad. And Perce and I? We're a package deal."
"You know-" Percy's voice was thoughtful. "This works out real well. We were the beauty and the brawn, now we have the brains too."
"Hey!" Piper punched Percy's arm, "You might be the biggest dumbass in the history of dumbasses but I'm no-"
"You were the one who bet me I couldn't grind my skateboard down the rail of the schools stairs-"
"I just thought it would be funny." Piper laughed. "And hey, you aren't the one who broke your arm because of it-"
"Well you shouldn't have decided that if I could do it you could too."
"Oh you two definitely need me." Annabeth was clearly trying to hold back her laughter as she shook her head. "Clearly if I don't stick around you'll get yourselves killed within a week."
"This coming from the girl who just full on tackled a vandal."
"She was going to try and damage my mothers most famous temple!"
"I think you've got a reckless side too." Percy declared, "And I am looking forward to bringing that out in you." and she'd noticed that comment about sticking around.
And Percy did like the thought of that. Even if she knew they'd need to talk about it properly.
And when they met Carter and Zia after finishing the tour they headed back to catch the ferry back to Mykonos.
And, well, when Annabeth was too tired to walk Percy and Piper took it in turns to give her piggy backs all the way back to the hotel.
