Chapter Two
As Izuku demolished the first robot he heard the sounds of footsteps approaching, as the rest of the examinees jumped into the fray. The hairy boy from before leapt forward, but he was now twice the size he was before, and tore into a three pointer with his mouth like a wild animal. The sallow bladed boy ran forward, and slashed at a group of the robots with a blade that erupted from his forearm. The rabbit girl landed next to Izuku, a cocky grin on her face and leapt again before landing on a robot with enough force to crush it.
"It's getting too crowded here…" Izuku muttered.
The green-haired boy glanced around the area, before shooting off into the air and flying off to a separate part of the arena. When he was a fair distance away from the cluster that was the opening street he dropped from the sky feet first, crossing his arms over his chest.
The sound of metal crunching under his feet alerted him to the three pointer he crushed. With a small jump he landed on the ground and swung his leg in an axe kick destroying another robot. The hairs on his neck stood on end as a rocket flew right past his head. He took a glance to see another squadron of robots flying towards him with a grin. Throwing his arm forward in a punch, it flew further than he expected smashing into the one in the front. He looked at his hands in shock as limb returned to its regular form.
"How does kinetic manipulation factor into elasticity?"
Before he could descend into a slew of mutters, a barrage of fire flew past him. Which he readily dodged by flying straight up. It didn't matter, he'd deal with the weirdness of his quirk later. After the examination was over. He saw more people engage with robots in the street below and sighed. It seemed like a few of them were trailing behind him. Trying to clean up after him in the hopes that he would leave a few stragglers, no doubt.
He shot off like a rocket towards another section of the arena. A grimace on his face as his feet and back started to burn from the amount of energy forced through them.
Elsewhere, in the examination room where the judges sat. The room was filled with many famous pro heroes. They were all watching the separate screens of the exam. Four specific screens were enhanced to take up more space. One of which showed an ashen blond boy grinning sadistically as he stood on top of a massive pile of robots, throwing explosions at more who passed by. The second showed a dark skinned girl with lagomorph features bouncing around and destroying robots while laughing, high on adrenaline, while occasionally rescuing those who had been overwhelmed by the robots. On the third screen was a muscular red-haired girl with massive hands crunching multiple robots with one hand while the other sat in front of some of the other examinees like a wall. The fourth and final showed a green haired boy with a white t-shirt which read "t-shirt" and a pair of red sneakers flying around and smashing robots with a form of enhanced strength and even saving a few people from crumbling buildings.
The white mammal in the front of the judges who were muttering amongst themselves, leaned forward somehow clasping his paws together. He had a serious look on his face as he studied two people in particular.
"Hmmm. Interesting."
That muttered declaration caused a few of the judges to have a spike in anxiety. Specifically a tall gaunt man with long blonde hair, an eternally sleep-deprived man with dark hair, and a wall of a man with white hair.
Izuku stood panting on a rooftop, his knuckles were bleeding and his feet and back were screaming in pain. He had about seventy-seven points if he'd been doing his math right. His arms were throbbing from the amount of rockets they had tanked. As he sat here, his healing factor got to work knitting the split skin of his knuckles back together, and the burns on his forearm slowly faded.
He was half-tempted to just spend the rest of the exam doing nothing on this rooftop. He was feeling the burn. But he couldn't, there was too much at stake. Who knew what the thresh-hold was for points in this test. It was UA after all, it could be a minimum of one hundred points to get access to the hero course.
He would not fail.
With renewed vigor, he jumped off of the rooftop, just in time to see the rabbit girl from before getting surrounded by a group of three pointers. He had confidence in her abilities given what he'd seen so far, but she looked a little out of her depth. Without a second thought Izuku blasted towards her, shooting through one of the enemies like a bullet, and scooped her up in his arms before flying to a higher point.
He put her down with a grin, and she glared at him.
"I had that covered, twerp!" She growled.
Ah, great. Izuku thought with a grimace.
He cleared his throat and put his hands up in a placating gesture, "I'm sure you did, but better safe than sorry."
Then without a second thought he turned and jumped off the building and flew towards the group of robots. Swinging his legs and arms in a flurry of blows. A battle cry alerted him to the presence of another as the rabbit-like girl landed on a robot and bounced kicking off another one.
She was panting and had a massive grin on her face, "I'm not gonna let you take all of them!"
Izuku smiled slightly, admiring her confidence and knocked another one over.
A short while later, they were standing in a pile of metal, breathing heavily. The dark-skinned girl never lost the grin on her face. Just as she opened her mouth to say something, the sound of massive footsteps and screams caught their attention. The two made quick eye contact and an understanding passed between them as he rose in the air, and she leapt up on a building bouncing off and landing on his back. She wrapped her arms and legs around him.
He blushed at the close contact, and her very full figure. With a quick glance ahead, he saw it. Not even sure how he missed it. A giant robot marching through the arena, knocking buildings over. The girl on his back tensed, in fear or anticipation Izuku couldn't tell.
"Last chance to get off." He muttered.
She laughed, "Yeah, right."
With her answer cemented, Izuku shot off towards the robot. The zero pointer. The girl on his back shrieked at the sudden speed, but it quickly evolved into cackling. The green-haired boy circled around the titanic construct, trying to analyze any weak points when he felt the rabbit girl stiffen.
"Down there!" She pointed to the street, where he saw a pile of rubble covering the brunette girl from before.
The girl was reaching out as if asking for help, and Izuku made a split second decision.
"Are you good at landing on your feet?"
She nodded, "Yeah."
"Good, I'm gonna drop you then, you save her and get out of here. I'll cover your escape."
"You're insane," her shocked expression turned to a massive grin, "I hope to see you in U.A. you psycho."
"Izuku Midoriya. Good luck, rabbit girl."
"Rumi Usagiyama." She said right before he threw her off his back and started circling the zero pointer.
The thing was massive and didn't look to have any weak points. It was practically indestructible. As he was circling the robot, he was forced to land as the left arm of the massive metal construct slammed into him and knocked him into the wall of the building. Groaning, he got up and glanced for Rumi and the other girl, and didn't find them anywhere. Good. He didn't have to hold back. His body still was in the process of being healed as he stood up.
The judges and examinees alike both watched enraptured as the boy lifted off the ground. His body was sparking with red electricity, and when was about six feet off the ground he became a blur. The only thing that helped tell where he was, was the crushed head of the zero pointer as his fist impacted with it.
Izuku stayed floating in the air as the robot slammed into the ground. Destroyed. Everyone was quiet, as the boy, no longer sparking, went limp in the air and went cascading into the street below with a massive shockwave.
A/N: So how's that for a finale to the entrance exam? Also those perceptive will notice how the pairing has finally been decided without the poll promised in earlier chapters. I'm sorry about that, I just finally came to a conclusion on what I wanted to happen. It'll definitely be a slow burn story, but not like agonizingly slow. Izuku's quirk is also proving to be quite the anomaly, huh? With the fact that it developed new abilities, and may or may not continue to do so in the future. Who knows? Me. Anyway, that's all I really have for this one. Review and all that jazz, so long and goodnight!
