DASH

Izuku stepped up to the starting line next to a handsome blonde boy. Neito Monoma, his brain provided. He was staring ahead with a smug grin on his face. Izuku took a deep breath and his legs tensed up as the countdown happened, when Vlad King fired a shot into the air as Izuku jumped into action, dashing forward quickly just as the boy next to him tried to swerve to grab him. He missed by a fraction and growled in frustration and started chasing him down. Unfortunately for the blonde, Izuku was much faster.

"3.03 seconds!" Followed shortly after by "5.22 seconds!"

He was still faster than an average person without using a quirk. Izuku glanced over at the heavily panting boy with a comforting smile. Curiosity danced in his eyes.

"Is there a reason you lunged for me?"

Monoma smiled slightly, "I need physical contact to use my quirk."

In a flash a notebook appeared in Izuku's hands. And he had a pen aimed at the blank page, which he scribbled down his name.

"Where were you keeping that?" Monoma deadpanned.

"Doesn't matter, what's your quirk Monoma-san?"

A few of his classmates backed up, probably shocked by another change in his demeanor. As the last two students got ready for the dash, Monoma looked at Izuku a little hesitant before he shrugged.

"My quirk is called Copy. It lets me copy the quirk of another person for around five minutes."

Izuku was scribbling away in his notebook, absorbing all of that information and adding a few assumptions. Does it work on Mutant types? Does his body properly adapt? Is there a chance that maybe Accumulation type Quirks aren't useless without the prerequisite? Maybe the-

Monoma waved his hand in front of his face. Which brought Izuku back to the land of the living, his pen resting on his lip.

"You were mumbling, Midoriya."

"Ah, apologies!" He bowed slightly with a blush, "I'm a bit of a quirk enthusiast. I think your quirk is amazing and incredibly versatile! It definitely has a lot of room for improvement, and could absolutely be way more powerful. I'll put some thought into it."

Monoma raised an eyebrow, "You will?"

Izuku nodded emphatically. His mind now running a mile a minute.

GRIP STRENGTH

Izuku was honestly amazed at the pure strength of a lot of his classmates. But a few of them stood out for him to exceed. Rumi, the hairy boy from the exams whose name was Jurota Shishida, the overly animated boy named Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, the boy with the dispenser head named Kojiro Bondo, and Monoma.

Rumi just flexed her well-muscled arms and grasped the device and it flashed with 200 kg. She looked at Kan-sensei with a wide grin and stepped away.

Shishida walked up to it, and most of the others were surprised but Izuku had already seen it in action as the meek boy grew much larger in both stature and build and crushed the device with a roar. The device flashed with 608.77 kg and the whole class stared slack jawed as his body cracked and formed back into his original, still quite hairy, form.

Tetsutetsu ran over to the device in pure exhilaration and his body was covered in a sheen of silver metal. He grabbed the device and grinned in anticipation as he grasped it. The screen flashed with the numbers, 197 kg.

The quiet boy awkwardly walked up, and stood there looking at it. He picked it up gingerly and placed it in his left hand. Then with a deep breath, Bondo squeezed. It beeped and a number appeared on-screen that surprised everyone. 541 kg of force.

Monoma was right before him, and he walked up, bumped into Shishida, and quickly apologized. As he walked up his body began to crack and distend and grow into a hairier form. Much larger than the original Monoma, and a slight bit taller than Shishida's form. He was panting heavily as he staggered forward and crushed the device. Only getting about half of the number Shishida got. Maybe that was a caveat, he could copy any quirk but at half-efficiency.

He didn't have time to wonder, it was his turn. He walked up to the device and didn't even have to think about what to do. Throughout the whole demonstration he had been tapping his hand, building up as much kinetic energy as possible. He didn't have any chance of getting higher, or even anywhere close to Shishida.

But he was sure as hell going to try. He grasped the deceive and to the outside viewers his muscle contracted and bulged, as the red lightning sparked off of him. The device strained under the pressure he put on it. And he let out a sigh as all the energy was expended. He looked at the screen. He had applied 600 kg of force?!

His eyes were wide as he put the device back down and looked at the class with a wide eyed expression. Rumi was smiling wide, there was a competitive glint in her eyes.

Uh-oh.

BALL THROW

The rest of the competition was fairly unremarkable, obviously Rumi did awesome on the long jump, considering that she was basically a rabbit. Izuku pulled mostly ahead on most of the challenges minus the long jump and grip strength. The toe touch was easy, he was literally elastic so flexibility wasn't a problem for him.

Now though, it was the moment of truth.

The ball throw.

He was exempt from this due to being the one who demonstrated. He was very invested in this, though. Maybe now he could properly get a look at everyone whose quirk he missed throughout the rest of the trials. Kan-sensei was making each of them go in seat order during this test, so up first was a dark haired boy of average height. His hair was long and spiky and he wore a blue and white striped headband to keep it out of his eyes. It was Yosetsu Awase.

Izuku hadn't seen Awase do anything quirk related, so maybe he was holding back a little bit or maybe it wasn't suited for environments like this. Regardless, he had been doing quite well, and Izuku was excited. The boy was clearly very athletic and had been training hard for this despite whatever quirk he had, any hero school worth its salt would be a fool to turn him away.

He strode forward, his back ramrod straight. He was nervous, it was plain to see. But Izuku had no doubt that he'd do well. If not here then his overall performance would net him at least the top ten.

Awase squeezed the ball slightly and took a deep breath before he reared back and threw it. It went and went and finally landed. Still well within sight, which the dark haired boy slumped about, but Kan-sensei turned the screen with a small grin. He threw it 88 meters, which was double Izuku's quirkless throw.

The next to walk up was another dark haired boy, his hair was shorter and his face more severe. They were about the same height as they passed each other. And where Awase had a near perfect posture, this boy, Sen Kaibara, had a slight slouch. His hands rested in his pockets as he stood in the middle of the circle.

There was clearly something that he was thinking about and he turned towards Kan.

"Kan-sensei." His voice was deep, "If I were to ask for some outside assistance to complement my quirk, what would the verdict be?"

Kan put his hand to his chin and murmured to himself for a second before he turned towards him again, "Depends on the assistance Kaibara."

The stoic boy smirked slightly, "I need someone to hold the ball so I can hit it."

Kan nodded and grabbed the still sulking and cursing Awase from the crowd and had him hold the ball. Kaibara reared his hand back, his fingers pointing forward like he was going to spear through the ball. He angled himself just right and his arm started spinning with a loud buzzing sound akin to a drill, and he thrust his hand forward.

The gyrating appendage hit the ball and sent it flying. It eventually landed. Kan held up the monitor, and it read 107.51 meters. So far no one was anywhere near close enough to beat Izuku's score. So he wasn't worried.

The rest of the event passed by in similar blur. The only one scoring anywhere near to his score was obviously Rumi, who threw the ball up and then roundhouse kicked it, which sent it 705.3 meters. Which honestly was incredibly terrifying that she had that much strength in her legs.

After the exam everyone was standing around a screen waiting for the results to appear. Eventually it powered up and a list of the twenty students were there.

He wasn't surprised that he got first. Though there was someone that he was worried about. The girl at the bottom of the list collapsed to her knees and started sobbing. She was short, had long brown hair with bangs that covered her eyes. Most of the others looked at her with sympathy, but Izuku couldn't bear it. He walked over and put his hand on her shoulder, in a comforting gesture.

Everyone looked at him in shock when he leaned down and lifted her up to her feet. She was hiccuping and still crying. Her brown eyes were wet and red, and that really frustrated Izuku. His face was solemn for a second as he looked at her, and then he grinned. Not the cocky Bakugo inspired grin he put on to seem more confident. No, this was a real smile. Not quite the All Might caliber of reassurance, but nobody could realistically make that. Not even All Might.

No words needed to be exchanged as the short girl reached up and wrapped her arms around him and started crying even more. Izuku just silently sat there and rubbed her back.

Kan cleared his throat, his face uneasy, "Is now a good time to say that the expulsion thing was a lie? I just figured it would cause you to do better, another idea from Aizawa." He looked down at the ground, "I don't understand how he can look at students as they break down and feel no guilt. I feel terrible, I'm never doing the rational deception thing again. Not my style." He finished with a grin.

Izuku looked over towards the teacher and had to resist every urge to beat him into a pulp. It wasn't his fault, he didn't think that the reaction would be this severe. He honestly respected him a little bit more for being up front about it, but that didn't mean he was happy with how the girl reacted.

He stared at the teacher long and hard, and then looked down at Komori again whose sobbing had stopped and her expression brightened significantly. Her face was slightly red at the close contact. It was only then that he processed what was going on and he leapt backwards, his face burning in embarrassment.

"Uhh… S-sorry Komori-san, I should've asked if it was okay to touch you." He bowed low.

Komori giggled slightly, "No worries Midoriya-kun, it helped a lot!"

If possible Izuku's face got even redder and most of the class laughed as they all went towards the locker room. Only one person in the class didn't have a jovial air about them, and that was Rumi Usagiyama. A scowl rested upon her face.

What was with this guy? She thought.

A/N: sorry for the wait on this one guys, these most recent chapters have been killing me mentally. I eventually decided to finally figure it out and post it. I don't really now how I feel about this chapter. It's kinda disappointing, but eh. Now next chapter is an interlude, it'll be used to introduce some of the important characters. After that we will be back into the main story and officially out of the prologue arcs. Which means we will be transitioning to first person POV, as one it's easier for me to write, and it will put you more into the POV character shoes. Most chapters will typically be told through Izuku's eyes, but there will be a few that will be other characters like Rumi or Bakugo. I can't spoil too much from here beyond.

Any questions you can feel free to ask me in the reviews.

Oh! I got a ko-fi if anyone feels like they want to donate something. I'm still kinda learning how to use it so it's a little shoddy. I'm not begging any of y'all to use it, because it's honestly just a way to gauge whether or not people like what I'm doing. I don't know I'm still figuring it out lol. Anyone willing to help with that would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, if anybody wants to support me just look for MalevolentKing and my profile picture is the Utopia cover.

Sorry to bother all of y'all with that. So long and goodnight!
