We got up early the next day because we had to keep on going. I led Faramir and the rest over some drier hills and a bit more marshland before we finally made it out of Bree land and into the Lone Lands. We stop at a small stream so the four hobbits could wash their feet off the mud since they don't wear any shoes. The Lone Lands are dry and everything was either brown dirt or yellow dead grass. Seeing the sky, it's almost evening already and we have been walking for hours now.
,We need to keep moving." Eldarion says.
,Why do you want to be in Rivendell? Did you get sent by Aragorn?"
,No, I just got curious about Rivendell. I've heard stories."
,Probably made up hero stories from your people." I always liked humans, until four years ago. My mother got killed by Uruk-hai's and when we turn to Aragorn for help, he turned us down.
,You know, my mother, your aunt, was a citizen at Rivendell." Eldarion says and turns to look at me.
,Yeah, but she didn't get killed." I need to calm myself down. How can he be serious?! He wants me to pity him, but I won't.
,Why do you hate me so much?" I laugh right in his face.
,I don't hate you, I hate who you are. Humans are untrustworthy."
,But I'm half Elf." Eldarion tells me.
,I don't care. You should've convinced your father to come to our aid but you didn't! You were just a little scared boy who didn't care about his family! Aragorn was a coward and if I see him, I will put an arrow into his chest!" I say, furiously. Eldarion is shocked and I leave him standing to keep on moving and continue my way because we aren't in Rivendell and it takes days to get there from here. We come to a large hill, the only one for what seemed like miles. I recognize this place. Lord Elrond has spoken of this place, where there are ruins at the top that were weather-beaten and crumbled. He warned me to stay away from them, so I try to keep on moving, but Eldarion holds me back when he turns to the hobbits.
,This was once the great watchtower of Amon Sûl. We shall rest here tonight." He just saying and I look at him as if he has lost his mind.
,Have you lost your mind?!" I yell at him.
,No." He begins the journey to climb the hill to the broken temple.
,Elda!" I follow him, just to stop him. ,We can't stay here overnight, you know that the Nazgul's will be here looking for us."
,We have no choice." He only tells me and keeps walking. I sigh and follow him to the top. It takes a while to reach the top tho because the sun has set when we're there. The hobbits drop their bags, sitting themselves down but I keep standing on the lookout. Eldarion sits down and grabs four small wrapped items from his bag. He unwraps them and four small swords are revealed. Daggers to him and me, but swords for the hobbits. He hands them to Faramir, Firiel, Milo, and Hugo and they gladly accept. ,These are for you, keep them close." He says to them and the hobbits look worried as they should be. The Nazgul's know this place, so if they visit us here we should be armed. ,I'm going to look around, stay here with Becahir." The four hobbits nod and then Eldarion leaves. I help the four hobbits to set up their sleeping blankets and then unsheathed my knives. I start to sharpen them with a small whetstone. Faramir pace a little, thinking to himself.
,You look worried." I tell him, setting aside my knives.
,I can't believe this is the one ring." He tells me quietly. ,The ring is a great burden. Bilbo couldn't destroy it, Frodo failed... what if I can't destroy it."
,Then there will be others who are brave enough to go onto such dangerous journey." He looks at me. ,I can imagine that the ring is a burden, but he needs to be destroyed. If you don't want to bury that burden, someone else will and destroy him." He put his tiny arms around my waist for a moment.
,Thank you for comforting me, Becahir." I hold him for a small second until I look him in the eyes. ,Go get some rest, Faramir." He nods and walks over to his blanket. I turn to the other three. ,You should get some rest too. Go on, get some sleep." They all nod and crawl to their blankets and I sit against the hill. I tried to stay awake to watch if some Nazgul's would show up, but tiredness hold me in his grasp, and soon I fell asleep.
,My tomato burst!" I stir awake by hearing Milo's voice.
,Can I have some bacon." Hugo asks him. Wait, bacon? I blink my eyes and wake up. I see a fire burning brightly in the pitch-black night and get up.
,What are you doing?!" I ask, panicked.
,Tomatoes, sausage, nice crispy bacon." Hugo says, pointing to the campfire and Milo holds out a plate for me to grab. Faramir gets up to and Milo holds out a plate to him too.
,We saved some for you, Faramir." Firiel says while eating a sausage. I stand up quickly, grab my weapons and rush towards the fire.
,Put it out, you fools!" I say through greeted teeth, stamping with my feet on the fire until it's out.
,Well that's nice. Ash on my tomatoes!" Firiel says sarcastically. They freeze when we hear something in the distance. A sharp, loud screech comes from the marshes below. The Nazgul's! I usher the four hobbits up the rest of the hill and inside the tower. The hobbits stand in the center of the old watchtower, back to back, looking around frantically, while I hide. The Nazgul's won't know what hit them if I come to their rescue. I hold my bow, ready to fire some arrows at the,m and look at the entrances. I come out of my hiding place for a moment, only to see a ring wraith between the pillars slowly making its way over to Faramir.
Faramir holds his sword in front of his face but he's horrified. Where's Eldarion, huh? He probably is trying to save his ego. Four more Nazgul's appeared and together the five wraiths come towards the group. Milo tries to stab one, but the Nazgul easily block it, sending him flying into a rock. Another Nazgul reach out and sweeps Firiel and Hugo aside in one motion. Faramir drops his sword and turns to run but falls. I grab my bow, quickly putting an arrow on it.
,Fëa-náro." I whisper and see my arrow lit up. Flames are covering the end of my arrow now and I fire on one of the Nazgul's. My arrow flies through the air and into its head. A scream fills the air and I feel proud to have hurt one of them. I look over to Faramir who's groping frantically in his pocket, probably searching for the ring, but he shouldn't use it right now. I see one of the Nazgul's drawn his sword now and hold it out to Faramir. I grab another arrow and fire. The Nazgul is quick to avoid my arrow and follow its way towards Faramir. It forces Faramir to move backward as far as he can. Faramir presses his back to a wall of the ruins now and can't go anywhere. Then, once again, he disappears. I see my chance and charge forward to fight the Nazgul's before they can get Faramir. My knives come against the Nazgul's sword and I try to hold him back, but he's strong.
,Give up the halfling, she-elf." He tells me.
,Don't speak to me!" I say and dodge his blade. I come on the ground next to Faramir, only he's in the shadows hiding from the fight.
,Then prepare to die, she-elf!" He speaks and points his sword at me.
,Becahir!" Eldarion finally appears with two torches on fire. He hands me one of the torches and begins to fight the Nazgul's. The Nazgul that was about to attack me is distracted for a moment before he turns back to Faramir, who's still in the shadows. He whispers something in the language of Mordor, which only a few can understand. Faramir probably refuses his magic because the Nazgul screech backs away for a second and then he lunges forward. As quick as I can, I step in between him and Faramir and block his sword with my knives. He knocks me down and screeches to scare me. Before I can block him again, I feel his blade into my shoulder and I scream out in pain.
Eldarion turns towards me. ,Becahir!" He shouts. He throws the torch into a Nazgul's face and starts fighting the one who stabbed me. Two more Nazgul's burst into flames and screech, drop their weapons, and flee. The hobbits rush to me now, even Faramir who's back from the shadows.
,Elda, help her!" Milo yells and Eldarion rush over to me. He takes a look at my shoulder and I can see him thinking of a way to help me, but I just shake my head. He examine the wound, then grabs the blade the Nazgul had been holding.
,I've been stabbed by a Morgul blade." I say and see the blade turn into ash. Eldarion groans and toss the hilt away. ,This is beyond your skills, Elda. I need Elvish medicine." I gasp in pain now. My shoulder is turning a little black now, which means the poison is slowly getting stronger, but luckily not that strong because I'm an elf. Eldarion steps forward, picking me up and running down the hill. We continue through the Trollshaws woods because there the Nazguls can't follow us.
,Hurry!" Eldarion yells towards the four hobbits, forcing a faster pace away from the Nazgul screams behind. We come into the Trollshaws woods without being harmed by the Nazgul's, but the pain is getting worse. Eldarion puts me down into the grass, next to the troll statues from Bilbo's adventures. Milo comes closer to me.
,Look, Becahir. It's Mr. Bilbo's trolls." I don't react, feeling my body turn cold. ,Becahir?" He lay his hand on my cold cheek. ,She's turning cold." He tells Eldarion.
,Is she going to die?" Hugo asks Eldarion.
,She's passing into the shadow world. If she doesn't get this medicine quickly, she will become a wraith like them." Eldarion tells the four hobbits who are watching me. The poison isn't going through my body quickly, but it still does. I can't be one of the wraiths, I want to be alive to be with Chloe. We startle by a Nazgul who screeches.
,They're close." Firiel says frightened.
,Milo, do you know the Athelas plant?" I ask him, fighting the urge to go to the darkness.
,Athelas?"
,Kings foil."
,That's a weed."
,It will help slow the poison. Go with Elda and find me that." Milo nods and then he disappears with Eldarion.
Not long after, I see a bright white light, revealing a horse with someone on it. The person gets off of their horse and I can see Arwen.
,Beca." She whispers. Eldarion is chewing on I think the Athelas plant and puts it on my wound. It hurts, but I know it will help. ,Lasto beth nîn. Tolo dan na ngalad. ( Hear my voice. Return to the light. )." I see Arwen looking at Eldarion. ,She's not going to last. We must get her to my father." Arwen tells her son and they help me up to her horse.
,Where are you taking her?" Faramir asks Arwen, but she ignores his answer.
,Your father and I have been so worried. We heard that there are five wraiths behind you. Where the other four are, we don't know." Arwen gets up her horse behind me. ,Stay with the hobbits, my son."
,Will Becahir survive?" I hear Eldarion ask my aunt.
,Becahirfîr. Ae athradon i hir, tur gwaith nin beriatha hon. ( Becahir is dying. If I can get across the river, the power of my people will protect him ). I do not fear them. Bring the others to Rivendell safely. I'll meet you there.Noro lim, Asfaloth, noro lim! ( Ride fast, Asfaloth, ride fast )!" I feel movement, which means Asfaloth is sprinting away.
Arwen's point of view
I ride hard with my niece in front of me, weakening by the minute. Suddenly two wraiths emerge from the trees behind me, two more slides in from different directions to join the chase. I grit my teeth, urging my horse to greater speed. My horse speeds out of the pine trees, the four wraiths close behind me, while five more wraiths gallop down the hillside which leads to a total of nine now pursuing Becahir and me.
,Noro lim, Asfaloth! ( Ride faster, Asfaloth )!" My horse runs even faster now, running through the forest, jumping over tree logs until we arrive at the river Bruinen. Without hesitation, Asfaloth leaps into the shallow water and thunders across the Ford. The nine ringwraiths pull up short of the Ford, clearly nervous of the water. Asfaloth reaches the other side and I turn to defiantly face the ringwraiths.
,Give up the Elf, She-Elf." I draw my sword.
,If you want her, come and claim her." The ring wraith screeches angrily draws his sword and lead the other wraiths across the Ford. The water starts flowing faster and I wait until they are halfway across before speaking again. ,Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto Beth dear: Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair!Nin o Chithaeglir, lasto Beth dear: Rimmo nin Bruinen, dan in Ulair! (Waters of the Misty Mountains, listen to the great word: flow waters of Loudwater, against the Ringwraiths!Waters of the Misty Mountains, listen to the great word: flow waters of Loudwater, against the Ringwraiths )!" The ground trembles, a mighty roar fills the air. I see Beca look up weakly. The water is flooding down the river towards the Ford, as if a dam has burst. The ringwraiths scream in terror as they are swallowed up in the deluge. Their pierced cries are drowned in the roaring of the river as it carries them away. I succeed! I quickly make my way to my father, calling out for his help. I smile happily when I see my father appear, but that's soon gone when Beca loses consciousness. ,No." I lay her down. ,Beca, no! Beca, don't give in, not now!" I gather her in my arms, crying. ,What grace is giving me, let it pass to her. Let her be spared, save her!" I ask my father. He nods and carries Beca to my old bedroom, followed by me.
,Lasto beth nîn. Tolo dan na ngalad ( Hear my voice, come back to the light )." My father says and I see that it helps. I'm relieved to see my niece getting better because of my father and leave the room. My father follows me. We both know Beca needs rest now.
