Spider-Man tried to even out her breathing.
It's not that she was "un-athletic" or anything.
It's just there was a hot redhead wrapped around her.
And not like in a sexual way so get your head out of the gutter.
More of a "I'm currently trying to save this chick" kind of way.
She abruptly landed on the side pavement, keeping her eyes focused forward as she waited patiently for the hot redhead to hop off.
But after a few moments had passed with zero movement, Spider-Man awkwardly cleared her throat. "Uhh..."
The redhead, startled, bounced up from her position, her legs unwrapping themselves from the hero's waist before landing onto the ground.
"I uh-" She chewed her lip, releasing her arms from around Spider-Man's neck. "Thanks."
Nodding, Spider-Man raised her hand, "No problem." And tip-toeing back few feet she glanced around, "Are you okay?" She then asked the girl.
"Yeah."
"Great." Taking a step around the redhead, Spider-Man pointed towards the street, "I need to get going. Stay safe!" She shouted while slinging a web towards the nearest building.
XxX
What even was that? Beca asked herself, mindlessly kicking at the pavement as she walked towards her house.
Shaking her head, she bundled through the front door.
"I'm home!" She called out only to receive no answer. "Go figure."
Grabbing a bite to eat from the fridge, she slouched into the couch in the main room. Switching on the TV, she rolled her eyes as it showed herself saving a few pedestrians.
"Spider-Man saves the day," She read out. Taking a bite from her food, she quickly changed the channel, "Spider-Man wouldn't need to if the police in this city actually did their job."
In the house beside the brunette's, sat Chloe Beale. Who was also watching the news regarding Spider-Man. The redhead held a beaming grin on her face.
She felt her phone buzz and picking it up, she read over the message.
Aubrey: What do you mean Spider-Man saved you?
Aubrey: And first of all, are you okay?
Rolling her eyes at her friend, Chloe typed back a reply.
Chloe: Of course, I'm okay Bree. I mean, I can't say the same if a certain hero hadn't had been there
Aubrey: don't say things like that Chloe
Chloe: but I'm totes fine.
Aubrey: What happened though?
Chloe: I was crossing the street when some truck came my way. Spiderman was chasing them I think, and just as it was about to hit me I was swept of my feet, literally by Spiderman.
Aubrey: then what happened?
Chloe: It's all a bit of a daze but I think she went back to stopping the truck
Aubrey: I'm just glad you're still alive. Can't have my best friend dying on me. Not when exams are coming up.
Chloe: you're a nerd
Aubrey: So are you
Chloe: shut up!
Giggling from the conversation, Chloe stood from her bed. Making her way over to her desk -which was by the window- she eased into the chair. As she waited for her laptop to bootup, she couldn't help but let her eyes wander over to her neighbours window.
A smirk slowly crept onto her face as she caught a glance of Beca Mitchell swinging around on her own desk chair.
She then let out a loud laugh as Beca nearly fell off the thing from swinging too hard.
As Beca attempted to fix herself, she caught a glance of her redheaded neighbour, Chloe Beale, watching her from her window.
Slightly startled, Beca raised her hand to send a wave towards the girl, causing a giggle to escape the redhead.
Inwardly rolling her eyes at herself, Beca cursed.
"Still awkward as ever." She mumbled low. "Seems it doesn't matter if you wear a mask or not."
Sneaking a glance back over to the girl, Beca was relieved to find that Chloe was now focusing on her laptop.
Or so she thought.
Keeping her head low, Chloe continued to peak over her laptop screen to look at the girl.
And yeah, it may be slightly stalkerish of her but come on... It's not like Chloe didn't have a crush on Beca Mitchell.
But as a few moments passed, Chloe couldn't help but squint as she noticed Beca stand from the desk and make her way to the side. As the brunette made an appearance by the window again, Chloe's eyes slightly widened from the article of clothing she held in her hands.
Bright red.
White eyes.
No way.
XxX
The following day, Chloe continued to very subtly watch the brunette.
She's not a stalker... she swears.
But sitting in gym class, Chloe and her friends- Aubrey, Jessica and Ashley- found themselves on the topic of superhero's (for whatever reason).
"If you had to be with an Avenger, which one would it be?" Jessica asked as she watched her fellow classmates do push-ups.
"What kind of question even is that?" Aubrey questioned back, crossing one leg over the other.
"A relevant one." The other blonde retorted. "I'd choose... Captain America." She followed.
"Why him?" Ashely quizzed.
"He just seems so nice," Jessica answered. "And he's pretty strong."
"I bet Aubrey would choose Tony Stark," Chloe chimed in with a smirk, watching as Aubrey turned to her with a horrified look on her face.
"Absolutely not!" She exclaimed. "He's a billionaire playboy who only cares about himself." She further explained, scrunching her face up.
"I was just saying. He's pretty smart up there," The redhead said, tapping the top of her head. "Something you'd like."
"Dr. Banner is also smart," Aubrey said.
"Ohhh!" Ashley grinned, "Looks like Aubrey has a crush on a certain doctor."
"What- no!" Aubrey frowned, "I never said that!"
"Sure, sure..." Chloe teased, turning to face her classmates. Her eyes landed on a particular brunette who was killing it with the push-ups and she couldn't help but notice how the muscles on her biceps would flex every time she'd lower to the ground.
"At least I'm not crushing on a certain masked hero."
"Wait, what?" Chloe suddenly snapped her head back towards Aubrey.
"Oh, don't think I don't know about your little crush on Spider-Man, Chlo-"
And in that moment from across the gym, a certain Spidey's ears perked up.
"You have a crush on him?" Jessica asked, frowning, "You don't even know what he looks like!" She exclaimed. "Could be a pervy old man for all you know-"
"She isn't." Chloe chimed in, interrupting the blonde. And shrugging, she continued, "I don't know. She just seems like a total mystery."
Feeling a pinch on her arm, Beca paused her push-ups to glance over at Stacie who sat beside her, a science book in hand. "Hear that, Spidey?" She smirked, "Red has a crush on you."
"No." Beca said, "She has a crush on Spider-Man." She corrected.
"Aka, you."
"Aka, not really me..." Beca said, beginning her push-ups again. "Besides, if she found out that it was me, she'd freak out."
"And why's that?" Stacie asked, flipping over to the next page.
"Because... I'm a girl. A-and she's straight." She stumbled over her words.
"No, she's not."
"What?"
"She's so not straight."
Pausing again, Beca leaned onto her knees, "What are you on about?" She asked, staring down her friend.
"Little red has been watching at you for a solid 5 minutes."
"Wait, wha-" Twisting her head over, Beca glanced towards the girl in question and low and behold, Chloe suddenly gazed away.
Stacie smirked from above her book as she watched a smile form on the brunette's face. And with a mischievous grin, she silently leaned over, ready to whack Beca with her science book. But just before it could connect with her, Beca's hand shot out to the side, grabbing it with ease.
"Nice try, Stace." Beca said, tossing the book at her, "But you're still too slow."
XxX
While laying on her bed, Beca sighed loudly.
God, did she hate homework.
Her English textbooks were sprawled out in front of her as she helplessly attempted to write an essay on Shakespeare.
Sighing once again, she found herself clicking onto YouTube and then somehow, she began endlessly watching videos on the NYC alien invasion that happened a few years back.
She wasn't procrastinating.
Nope.
Not at all...
What a whack job of a world, she thought as she watched Iron Man fall out of a portal to space in the sky.
Suddenly a notification popped up from her opened Facebook tab. Clicking on it, she saw a red "1" by the massager section.
Chloe Beale: Hi neighbour!
Furrowing her brows, Beca tipped her head in confusion as she read over the message. Blinking a few times, she typed by a reply.
Beca Mitchell: Hey?
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: Look outside
"Wha-" Glancing up, Beca's eyes gazed out her window towards the one opposite. She couldn't help but chuckle as her eyes landed on a redhead holding a sign.
It was a "science" themed poster.
Beca Mitchell is typing...
Beca Mitchell: Very artistic. What's the occasion?
Chloe Beale: Mr. Rafferty thinks a bunch of seniors should participate in arts and crafts.
Beca Mitchell: Yikes
Beca Mitchell: Not that I don't love your art skills, but why did you decide to show me?
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: I wanted to get your opinion on it.
Chloe Beale: I also just needed an excuse to talk to you
Beca Mitchell: O...kay...
Beca Mitchell: Is there like something you need or?
Chloe Beale: No, I just figured since we've been living beside each other for years now, that it's finally time
Beca Mitchell: ...for?
Chloe Beale: Us to be friends
Chloe Beale: FAST FRIENDS
Beca Mitchell: I feel like I should be worried
Beca Mitchell: Should I be worried?
Chloe Beale: Nope
Beca Mitchell: Okay, I definitely feel like I should be worried.
Ignoring the message completely, the redhead typed,
Chloe Beale: So hey, there's this party happening this weekend that I'm going too
Beca Mitchell: Have fun
Chloe Beale: You should come
Beca Mitchell: Ehhhhh
Chloe Beale: Come onnnn! It'll be fun
Beca Mitchell: Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Chloe Beale: Pweaseeee
Beca Mitchell: I'll think about it
Chloe Beale: Yay!
Chloe Beale: It's a party at Tom's house
Beca Mitchell: Yeah, you're gonna have to be a little more specific with that
Chloe Beale: Tom Thompson
Beca Mitchell: What a name
Beca Mitchell: But like I said... I'll think about it
Chloe Beale: See you there, Beca Mitchell
XxX
Stacie: Get dressed, I'll be at yours in 30
Beca: What why?
Stacie: There's a party at Tom Thompson's tonight. And you're coming with me to it
Beca: But whyyyyy
Stacie: Because you're my best friend. And best friends support each other
Beca: I hate you
Stacie: No you don't!
Stacie: Be ready
Beca: Fine see you soon
Sighing Beca found herself staring forward.
"Go figure."
Slugging her way towards her room, she quickly pulled open the door to her closet. "Just when I decided on not going..." She mumbled to herself as she grabbed a few pieces of clothing.
Black jeans? Check.
Grey hoodie? Check.
Leather jacket? Chec- wait.
"Where is it?" She asked aloud as she searched the room. Furrowing her brows as her eyes flickered across the surroundings, they suddenly rose as she glanced towards the ceiling to find the article stuck via her web fluid. "What in the world..."
Quickly taking hold of the jacket, and wiping away the goo fluid, (gross), she shrugged it on before grabbing her backpack.
In that moment, a car's horn beeped outside. Opening the window in her room, she quickly hopped down before making her way towards Stacie.
"Get in loser!"
XxX
"Stacie, I said no!" Beca said, irritated. And pushing away the alcoholic drink, she shook her head. "You know why I can't drink this."
"Oh, come on!" Stacie exclaimed, throwing an arm around her friend's shoulder. "Everyone needs a break from time to time, even Spider-Mannn!" She sang out.
Whacking the taller girl in the stomach, Beca twisted around, "Would you keep it down!" She hissed.
"Oh Bec," She patted the girl on the cheek, "You worry too much."
Shrugging the hand off, Beca moved away from her, "I'm going to get some air."
"Remember to lighten up."
You dragged me here, Beca thought while walking her way towards the back door. Feeling the fresh air hit her face, Beca let out a breath.
God did she hate high school parties.
Not that she's been to them much. But from the amount that she has attended, it's safe to say she's not a fan.
Taking out her phone, she clicked onto the police radio app that she found. It kept her up to date on all thing's crime related within the city.
Reading over the list, she noticed that most- if not all- crimes had been taken care off in the past 10 minutes.
Taking out her earphones, Beca plugged them into the phone before easing them gently into her ears. She listened to the sound of the officers announcing new crimes.
"Looks like you decided to show up after all." Suddenly came a cheery voice beside her.
Tipping her head, Beca nodded, "I guess." She shrugged.
"What are you listening to?" Chloe questioned leaning on the wall beside them.
"Oh, you know..." Beca mirrored her, "Music."
"Very specific." Chloe teased with a grin.
"Well, I try."
"Enjoying the party so far?" Chloe asked, changing the subject.
"Eh..." With a small shrug, Beca glanced around her surroundings, "It's alright, I guess."
"Are you kidding?" Chloe laughed, making Beca turn back to her, "It's terrible." Taking a sip of her drink, she continued, "I mean it's Tom Thompson for god's sake! This place is just crawling with horny teenage boys."
Chuckling, Beca tipped her head with a smirk, "Can't argue there."
"So why are you here, Miss Mitchell?" Chloe asked. "Besides wanting to see me."
Rolling her eyes, Beca gave a fake smile. Clearing her throat, she answered, "My best friend dragged my ass to this."
"And where's she now?"
"Getting her own ass drunk."
"Charming," Chloe giggled. "Hey!" Standing up straight, she grabbed onto Beca's arm, startling the girl. "We should get out of here." She suggested.
Beca choked on the air around her.
"W-what?"
"Like leave." Chloe clarified. "Head to a diner or something." She further explained. "Maybe grab a coffee or see a movie, anything to just get away-"
"All units report. Gang shoot out west side of Barden Avenue. Reported 1 fatality, 2 civilians injured-"
"So, what do you say?"
Beca's ears perked up from the sirens echoing in the distance. They got closer and closer until they suddenly passed through the street, she was in. The red and blue lights brightened the backyard, shining onto the surroundings.
"I-" Taking a few steps back, Beca pulled her backpack into herself, "I'm sorry, I have to go."
"Oh-" Chloe said, her face falling. "...okay."
Grimacing, Beca continued her way back. "Rain check on that though?" She asked, hopeful.
Chloe took a step forward, "Y-yeah," Clearing her throat, she nodded, "Yeah."
"Awesome." And with that, Beca turned in place quickly dashing behind the side of the house.
XxX
"Freeze!" The police officer shouted, "Down on the ground!" He demanded. "Now!"
"Seriously?" Spider-Man asked. "I just took down all of these guys and this is what you say to me?"
"I said down on the ground!"
"Dude!"
"NOW!"
"I just did your job and that-" Leaping into the air, Spider-Man quickly webbed up the gun the officer was aiming at her, "-that is how you repay me?" She asked landing back on two feet. The police officer raised his hands into the air, making her chuckle. "Whatever, man..." She said, tossing the gun behind her.

Sitting on top of the clock tower, Beca looked out upon the city.
It was beautiful at night, she thought.
Beca had since ripped the mask from her face and was dangling off the edge as she attempted to clear her mind.
Her brows then furrowed hearing a buzz come from within her backpack.
Stacie Conrad is calling...
"Hello?"
"Beca, where are you!?"
"On top of a very tall building."
"Beca."
Sighing, Beca tapped her hand along the edge of the roof, "I told you drinking was a bad idea."
"What happened?"
"Gang shoot out-"
"Are you okay? Did you get hurt, do you need a doct-"
"Dude, I'm fine."
"Well... okay..."
"You know... for someone at a party, you don't sound very drunk."
"Well when you realize your best friend is missing, you leave said party in hopes of finding her."
Beca couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, Stace. But for real, I'm fine."
"If you say so."
"Don't worry, Stacie."
"You know I'll always worry. You're my best friend Beca, basically a sister at this point, worrying will always be a thing when it comes to you."
"Thanks." Beca casted her eyes out towards the city, "I'll see you tomorrow, Stace."
XxX
Chloe Beale is typing...
Chloe Beale: Is everything okay? I mean you ran off pretty fast last night
Beca Mitchell is typing...
Beca Mitchell: Oh yeah... Sorry about that. I wasn't feeling very well.
Chloe Beale: That sucks :( I hope you're feeling better now
Beca Mitchell: Still a little under the weather, but I'll live
Beca Mitchell: I'm sorry for basically brushing you off last night
Chloe Beale: Totes fine. You were sick
Beca Mitchell: How's tomorrow sound for that rain check?
Chloe Beale: Won't you still feel sick?
Beca Mitchell: Doubt it
Beca Mitchell: So I'll pick you up?
Chloe Beale: We live right by each other
Beca Mitchell: I'm trying to be cliché here, Beale
Chloe Beale: aww, you're cute
Beca Mitchell: adios red
XxX
Beca: Dude help
Stacie: What's wrong?
Beca: I may, but probably not, have just asked Chloe Beale out
Stacie: Aww, that's cute
Beca: Not helping
Beca: What do I do?
Stacie: Go see a movie
Beca: ew no
Stacie: Take her out for dinner
Beca: That's too boring
Beca: wait
Stacie: What?
Beca: What if this is just us hanging out as friends
Stacie: …
Stacie: I thought you said you asked her out?
Beca: I think I did...
Beca: Aw fuck. Maybe I didn't
Stacie: This is awkward
Beca: I hate you
Stacie: Just ask her Beca
Beca: No, I cant just ask her!
Stacie: Why not?
Beca: Because she's chloe!
Stacie: You know. You're useless at answering these questions
Beca: Shut up
Stacie: Look...just go do something fun with her. There's a carnival going on this weekend isn't there? Just bring her there. Take my car if you really need to
Beca: Really? You're a life saver Stace
Beca: Thanks
Stacie: Don't mention it, it's what I'm here for
XxX
Pulling up at the sidewalk, Beca shut off the engine.
God, what would she do without her best friend?
Hopping out of the car, she made her way towards the Beale household and stopping just by the front door, she gently tapped on the wooden frame.
Chloe came bundling down the stairs as she heard the three taps from the front door. Beca had messaged her earlier in the day saying that she'd pick her up around 6.
Safe to say the redhead was excited.
Like really excited.
And opening the door, she beamed wide at the sight of the brunette, all in her leather jacket glory.
"Hey there." The younger of them greeted, somewhat shyly.
"Hi." Chloe smiled, taking a step outside. Shutting the door behind her, she tipped her head, "All ready to go?"
"Uh, yeah," Beca replied, clearing her throat. As they reached Stacie's car, Beca found herself holding the door open for Chloe.
Chloe inwardly swooned at the small but charming gesture and whispering a grateful 'thank you,' made her way into the passenger seat.
Shutting the door after her, Beca made herself comfortable in the driver's seat.
"Nice car." Chloe was the first to speak.
"It's Stacie's," Beca replied.
"Stacie's your best friend, right?"
"Yeah." The brunette answered as she booted up the car. "Known her since I was a kid."
"That's nice." Chloe smiled. "It kinda reminds me of Aubrey and I."
"Oh yeah?"
"Uh huh," Chloe nodded, "Bree and I grew up together. It was pretty much inevitable. Her mom and my mom were close friends." She explained. "So, where are we going?" She asked, deciding to change the subject.
"That carnival that seems to be going on," Beca said, "Thought it would be a cool thing to check out before it heads outta town." She glanced over once stopped at a red light to gauge the girl's reaction.
"Oh yay!" Chloe glee'd, "I've been meaning to go to this!" She smiled.
Beca inwardly cheered.
Thanks Stacie.
"I was at this last year," Chloe said, "There's this Ferris wheel that we should totes check out."
"Sounds good."
"Wait, you're not scared of heights, are you?" Chloe suddenly asked. It was a genuine question but the redhead held a certain motive behind it.
If you get what she's saying.
Scoffing, Beca smirked turning to face her briefly, "Pfft. Me scared?" Chuckling, she shifted into a new gear, "Nah."
Chloe's eyebrow twitched upwards from the answer and she smirked.
"Good to know..."
Reaching their destination, Beca once again found herself holding the passenger door open for Chloe.
She didn't like mean too.
It's just... she was raised to be a polite kid.
At least that's what she told herself.
Mumbling a thank you to the girl, Chloe hopped out of the car. And turning to Beca, she watched as she locked the car before looking at her.
"So, since you know more about all of this," The brunette began, shoving her hands into her pockets, "Where do you think we should start?"
Feeling a smile form on her face, Chloe looped her arm through Beca's, "I thought you'd never ask." She glee'd dragging her towards the entrance.
Beca could only watch her curiously.
She eventually broke out into a grin seeing the child-like wonder upon the girl's face as her eyes flickered across the range of amusements on display.
Somehow, they ended up outside the stand to a shootout game.
"Wanna give this a go?" Beca asked.
Nodding, Chloe stepped forward to speak with the man behind the stand.
She found herself being stepped aside as Beca reached forward. "How much?" She asked him.
"5 dollars for 3 tries," He said, gently smiling down at them, raising three fingers as he did so.
Shrugging, Beca reached into her pocket and grabbing her wallet, handed the money to the man.
He went behind him and grasped the toy gun and leaning over handed it to Beca, "Here you go."
Holding the toy out to Chloe, Beca bobbed her head in the direction of the stand.
"No, no, you paid," Chloe said, only for Beca to shake her head and place the toy in her possession.
"Don't worry about it, Red."
Feeling a small blush arise on her cheeks, Chloe lowered her head as she made her way closer.
"3 tries," The man began, "If you hit three cans, you win a prize," He explained. "Go whenever you're ready."
"Okay..." Bringing the toy gun up, Chloe tucked it in close to her chest. She levelled out her breathing before taking the first shot.
"Yay!" She cheered watching as a can fell over.
"One down!" The older man called out from the side.
And Beca smiled as she watched Chloe knock down a second can.
"Two down, one to go!"
Feeling herself become slightly nervous, Chloe brought the gun back close. Squinting as she aimed it towards the remaining can, she breathed in slowly and shutting her eyes took the shot.
Beca smirked.
"Looks like we have a winner today!" The man said causing her to snap open her eyes. In front were three cans perfectly fallen over.
"Oh my god," She grinned in shock, turning to Beca, "I did it!"
"Yeah you did." Beca grinned back. Tipping her head, she gestured towards the prize stand, "Go pick something."
Chloe flickered her eyes along the range of prizes offered. She had her mind set on picking one of the cuddly bears, but then she caught glance at the obnoxiously pink sunglasses.
Pointing at the glasses, she quickly looked over her shoulder to see Beca leaning against the amusement stand, staring down at her phone.
Chloe smirked.
"Thank you," She said grabbing the glasses. Skipping towards the brunette, she hid them behind her back.
Hearing the footsteps, Beca shoved her phone into her pocket, "Hey there," She grinned at the girl. Suddenly her eyebrows furrowed. "Where's your prize?"
"Right here!" Chloe bounced, bringing the glasses up into Beca's view. The brunette stared curiously, a smirk growing on her face.
"Nice pick."
"It's for you."
Beca's smirk fell.
"Say what now?"
"Yep," Chloe beamed, taking a few steps towards her. "All yours." She said, lifting the glasses up and placing them gently on the brunette's face. "To add a little colour to your outfit." She teased with a wink.
"Why would you do this to me?" Beca fake whined.
"Oh, come on!" Chloe giggled, "It suits you!"
"I look ridiculous!"
"Aw, you look cute!" Chloe glee'd, reaching out to pinch Beca's cheek, "You're like a little adorable munchkin."
Beca could only sigh.
"Oh!" Chloe chimed, grabbing out her phone, "Come here."
"No." Beca deadpanned. When Chloe threw out a pout and puppy dog eyes, Beca rolled her own eyes before standing beside the girl.
Chloe threw an arm over her shoulders, using her other hand to hold out her phone. "Smile!" She called out to Beca, unexpectantly leaning in to lay a kiss on the smaller girl's cheek before taking the picture.
Beca was caught off guard by the gesture.
But that didn't mean her deadpan expression in the picture changed.
Nope. Beca was stone cold in it.
The brunette watched Chloe type furiously into her phone, a smirk on her face while doing so. Suddenly Beca's own phone buzzed in her pocket.
"Oh, I wonder what this is?" She asked aloud, raising an eyebrow as Chloe stared on, trying to keep a straight face.
Beca sighed reading over it.
chloebeale
Look at this adorable little munchkin with her pink sunglasses! becasbeats is so damn cute
becasbeats I hate you
"Aw, no you don't Becs." Chloe teased with a light tap on the arm.
"Yeah, I do." The girl said, glancing away from her. "You just ruined my reputation, Beale."
"Oh honey," Chloe looped her arm through Beca's, "Your rep was never there to begin with." She laughed. Pulling Beca along, she turned to her, "To make it up to you, I'll let you choose where to go next."
"How generous of you."
XxX
"You're really keeping to this cliché, aren't you?" Chloe found herself asking with an amused smile, as she watched the young man close down the door to the Ferris wheel cart.
"It's unintentional," Beca replied, sitting back in the chair.
"Sure, sure." Chloe scooted closer. She jumped as the Ferris shifted forward making Beca chuckle. "Jerk," She whacked the girl on the arm, using it as an excuse to move even closer to her.
Like for real.
She might as well be on Beca's lap at this point.
...not that it's bothering the brunette or anything.
Feeling her arm trapped under Chloe, Beca brought it up and over to rest on the back of the cart.
"This is nice." Chloe announced as the cart slowly moved its way up.
Sighing in content as she watched the sunset come into view, "Yeah," Beca replied.
After a few moments passed by, Beca found herself slowly running her hand along the redhead's arm. Choosing not to mention it, she just let things be.
"I was wondering." Chloe spoke breaking the silence.
"Hmm?"
"Is this a date?"
Pausing her movements, Beca tensed up. "Uh..."
"It's totes fine if it isn't," Chloe tried to clarify, sitting up to face the other girl, "I mean, we can forget I ever asked-"
"It's only if you want it to be." Beca then interrupted, gazing towards her. "I mean..." Sighing, she glanced away, "do you think this is a date?" She asked, rubbing the back of her neck.
"When you asked, I assumed it was." Chloe answered.
"How'd you feel about that?" Beca dared to ask.
Pausing for a few seconds, Chloe nodded, "Happy." she replied, a slow smile creeping onto her face.
"Really?"
"Yeah." She grinned, scooting closer again, "Really."
"Just to be clear," Beca said, leaning back again, "This is a date."
Not answering, but inwardly cheering, the redhead beside Beca leaned ever so gently forward to lay her head on the brunette's shoulder.
The pair continued their gaze forward on the sunset facing them. Beca was content, and so was Chloe.
But contentment doesn't last for long, does it?
The younger of the two felt her ears perk up causing her to stiffen.
"Everything okay?" Chloe asked, concerned, picking up on her stiffness.
"Uh..." Pulling back from their embrace, Beca leaned over the cart to catch a glance behind them. She squinted as she noticed a dark figure vastly approaching the amusement park, letting out a sound she could only describe as cackling.
Suddenly the dark figure swooped by the Ferris wheel, hysterically laughing as they threw something from their right hand.
In these moments, Beca noticed that the figure hid their identity through a green mask, had long light hair and was on some kind of glider.
Her attention was then brought to the device that currently was centred on the Ferris wheel, with a timer counting down from 3 minutes.
"Oh shit..."
"Beca?" Chloe's voice interrupted her thoughts. "W-what's going on?" She asked and Beca could hear the fear in her voice, if the tremble was anything to go by.
Tapping at the edge of the cart, Beca's eyes flickered between Chloe and the device. "Fuck..." She muttered. Suddenly she sat up, and pointed towards the sky. "Hey look!" She said, "There!"
This momentarily caught Chloe's attention as she furrowed her brows casting a glance to the sky, "What... Bec-" Just as she turned to face the brunette, she was nowhere to be seen.
"Beca?!"
Suddenly in the distance was the cackling laugh of the dark, masked figure causing Chloe to almost jump out of her skin.
Beca quickly grabbed her backpack from the boot of Stacie's car, ripping the mask from it, she quickly tore off her clothes to reveal her Spider-Man suit.
"Oh, you son of a bitch!" She cursed as her skinny jeans got stuck halfway down her legs. "YES!" She glee'd as they finally came off, and dashing her way towards the Ferris wheel, she pulled on the mask.
While this was going down, Chloe sat stunned.
The masked figure had found itself in front of her cart.
"What do you want?" The redhead found herself asking, sounding much more confident than she actually was.
All the figure did was laugh.
The laughing quickly faded as it's gaze snapped to the side.
"NO!" The figure growled before zooming away on its glider.
Chloe scooted over to the edge of the cart to follow its line of sight and when she did, she saw Spider-Man tugging at some kind of timed device. But the figure approached the hero behind making Chloe call out, "Spider-Man, watch out!"
Beca heard Chloe's voice call out and with that, she dived backwards, flipping over the masked figure who smashed right into the device. Both Spider-Man and the villain glanced at the timer, and to the pleasure of the latter, changed from 1 minute and 43 seconds to 43 seconds.
"Oh, come on!" Spider-Man complained, her eyes widening under the mask.
The masked figure cackled once again before dashing at her, they grabbed Spider-Man by the neck, laughing manically at them before delivering a solid punch to her face.
Just as she saw another fist fly at her, Beca swooped her hand up, catching it. Smashing her head forward, she delivered a headbutt to the figures face. She groaned as she connected with a metal material. But not being deterred, she kicked the figure's kneecap making them drop their hand from her neck.
As she began to freefall, she webbed her way onto the top of one of the carts and before the figure could fly away, she shot a few dozen webs into the back of the glider's engine.
The figure's glider began to misfunction and collided into the nearby river next to the carnival.
Beca's breath evened out, but not for long as her eyes fell onto the timer.
10 seconds.
Her eyes widened as she scrambled her way up the carts to reach the device. Grasping at every straw to try make it. Her hand gripped the last railing before it landed on the bomb. And using all her strength began to detach it from the centre.
In an instant, she scurried her eyes across her surroundings for a place to burry it, the only logical place being was the river.
3...
So, leaping forward, as far as she could, she threw the device.
2...
And watched as it travelled into the middle of the river.
1...
Before turning into an explosion of water.
Beca found herself falling face first onto the grassy ground surrounding the river. But not caring about the pain, she sat up on her knees, holding onto her mid-section while breathing heavily. Her eyes followed the explosion and she sighed in relief as she saw that no one was hurt.
Shutting her eyes for a few moments, she took in everything that happened. Safe to say her eyes burst back open once she remembered a certain redhead.
Chloe sat unmoving on the cart, only registering what happened when a young man was calling out to her. Looking at him, she found that they were back on the ground.
Scuttering out, she found her eyes flickering around in search of Beca.
She had a gut feeling of where the girl went.
Not finding her anywhere, Chloe decided to make her way back to the car. Nearing the vehicle, she noticed that Beca was fast walking towards her.
The brunette slowed the pace, once locking eyes with the redhead.
Grimacing, she raised a hand, "Hi..." She said weakly.
Shaking her head, Chloe shoved past, choosing to get in the passenger seat.
Beca was frozen on the spot, "Dammit."
Twisting in place, she made her way into the driver's seat.
"I'm sorry-"
"Don't." Chloe interrupted, annoyed. The girl wasn't too sure why she was annoyed, she just was. "Where did you go?" She found herself suddenly asking as Beca booted up the car.
"I uh..." Awkwardly clearing her throat, Beca casted a glance in the rear-view mirror and winced. There was a nasty cut on her bottom lip.
"You left me." Chloe said.
"I know." Beca sighed, pulling out of the parking lot. "I'm sorry."
"Where did you go?" Chloe tried again, turning to face her. "And why is your lip bleeding?"
Scratching the back of her neck, Beca lolled over her words, "It's... complicated."
"Bullshit, Beca."
"Look! It is, what else do you want me to say, Chlo-"
"I don't know, how about the fact that you're Spider-Man?"
Pausing, Beca stalled. Her hands still upon the driver's wheel and she registered what the girl said.
"W-what?" Is how she responded.
Scoffing, Chloe faced forward, "It's obvious, isn't it?" She said waving her hands around, "You leave me, while we're suspended in the air, I might add, and then you come back with a bloodied lip!"
"I could've tripped for all you know!" Beca tried to defend but even she could admit, that was pretty weak.
"Don't lie, Beca."
Shaking her head, Beca sighed.
"Fine."
Chloe glanced back towards her.
"I am Spider-Man." Beca confirmed.
XxX
Beca drove the car up to the sidewalk, pulling over she knocked the engine off.
"Thanks for-" Chloe went to say from her passenger seat but was interrupted by Beca, who lifted a hand up.
"Don't mention it."
After the confirmation that Beca was indeed Spider-Man, the two girls sat in an awkward silence as they waited the ride out. The sun had set since the incident at the park, leaving them in darkness, the only light coming from the orange street lights, shining through the car window.
"I'm sorry." Beca suddenly said, her gaze on the steering wheel. "I shouldn't have just left you in that cart on your own, I should've told you then and there who I was." She added. With the shake of her head, she gazed out towards the houses on the street, "You could've got hurt. But... I couldn't stay, you saw that explosive, if I had have stayed put then-" Taking a breath, she looked forward, "I don't know what could have happened."
Chloe sat in silence, listening to the girl's words. She felt terrible about being snappy earlier. She was in shock. Hadn't fully registered what had happened. But still... that doesn't change that she was acting bitchy about it.
"You don't have to explain yourself, Bec." She said, reaching out to place a comforting hand on the girl's arm. Gazing over towards Chloe, Beca lightly nodded. "I understand why you had to leave," Chloe continued, "So don't beat yourself up over it. You were doing what was right and I was acting bitchy about it. I was still in shock."
"It's okay." Beca said.
"Besides all that," Chloe said, sitting up and reaching forward, "At least you still have these." She said, holding up the pink sunglasses.
Chuckling, Beca reached out to take hold of the item, "Guess so."
Keeping her eyes on Beca for a few moments, Chloe reluctantly let go of her arm before opening the door. "I'll see you later." She whispered before leaning in to place a small peck on Beca's cheek.
Leaning into the touch, Beca watched as she slid out of the car, "Yeah... bye Red." She said, her eyes following the retreating form of the redhead.
Once the girl was inside her house, Beca booted up the engine of the car and accelerated to the house next up before turning into the driveway. She parked behind her parent's car, before making her way into her house.
