Beca sighed loudly.
Her eyes were red and sore from staring at her laptop screen for so long.
But it had to be done.
She had to try find out who that masked person was from the carnival attack.
The brunette had searched endlessly over the rest of the weekend trying to find the figure, but came up with no so such luck. This mysterious person, was definitely holding their mystery. Now Beca was left, sore eyed and tired after researching for 4 hours straight.
She sighed again.
"Nothing..." She rubbed her eyes, "There's literally nothing on this person."
Cracking an eye open, she glanced through her fingers towards the digital clock on her desk to find that it was 6:47am. And rolling her eyes, she groaned while sliding off the chair and heading towards the door leading into the bathroom.
After a quick shower, it left her feeling somewhat like a socially acceptable member of society for the day. But not much as her eyes still held a reddish colour to its whites, with dark rims under.
She held them open wide, trying to act awake as she searched through her closet for her attire for the day. Yawning, she grabbed hold of whatever was closest to her before shrugging it on.

"You're looking wonderful as ever." Stacie, said taking a big bite out of the apple in her hand as she stared down the shorter brunette.
Not lifting her head from the hand that it was leaning on, Beca nodded, giving a thumbs up with her free hand. "Thanks, Stace." With a dry response.
The pair were sat outside on one of the school benches within the high school campus. Beca was still half out of it, hence her eyes drooping every second. Meanwhile Stacie was amused, finding humour in her friend's drowsy state.
With this, Stacie suddenly found herself thinking of a grand idea. Reaching into her bag, she grabbed out one of her pens before aiming it at Beca; who was falling deeper into a sleep as the seconds ticked by.
Sticking her tongue out, Stacie lined up her aim before throwing the pen at her friend.
The item nearly smacked Beca on the side of her head, but she jolted her hand out to swiftly catch it. "What the hell?" She asked, blinking fast. "What was that about?" She glared at the girl, her eyes dropping to the pen. Staring at her, she shook her head before throwing it aggressively towards the trash can nearest them.
"Someone's a grump today."
"Fuck off."
"Ooh, feisty."
"Stacie, I swear to god-"
The taller brunette shut her mouth, stopping her next retort. She found her eyes flickering across Beca's face as the girl glanced up at her.
"How was the "date" with Chloe?" She asked, her brow furrowing as she suddenly took in the dark, red rimmed eyes on Beca.
"Fine." Beca said, moving back to her position of leaning on a hand.
Stacie hummed, looking closely at her. "I bet an attack was definitely just fine..." She trailed off, before getting off the bench to walk over to the trash can, throwing her apple into it.
Beca inhaled loudly, stretching her neck up and moving into a straightened position. "Oh yeah..." She mumbled, tiredly as Stacie sat back down. "That." She yawned.
"What even happened?" Stacie asked, having not had the chance to over the weekend.
"Uhh..." Rubbing at her temples, Beca thought back, "Some crazy person came flying in on some glider thingy-"
"Glider?" Stacie furrowed her eyebrows.
Nodding Beca continued, "Yeah... honestly. They were like this flyling green elf." She paused, shaking her head, "then tried to blow up the... ugh-" pausing, she sighed, "what's it called again, the-"
"Ferris wheel?" Stacie suggested quickly, sitting up. Beca stared blankly at her.
"Yeah, that..." She trailed off, squinting her eyes at the taller brunette. "How'd you know?"
Shrugging, Stacie glanced off to the side, "Lucky guess." Suddenly her eyes landed on a certain pair of girls walking from across the campus. "Ooh look! It's your girlfriend and blondie!" She announced.
Beca eyed her suspiciously before following her line of sight and when she did, caught a glance of bright red hair.
"She's not my girlfriend, dude." The shorter girl said, watching as Aubrey and Chloe parted ways, each heading to their own destination. The latter of the two, walking through the doors to the English classrooms. "I'll see you later though." Beca said back to Stacie, as she stood from the bench before making her way towards Chloe.
Beca didn't know where she and Chloe stood after their "date" the other night, which had ended up with the redhead finding out about Beca's secret identity.
Chloe's pace was fast as she entered into the English department, as she had an assignment to hand in.
Which was already a week overdue.
"Oh no," She said as her eyes landed on the large white clock that hung on the wall. She was 10 minutes late, the time being 10:10am. Her teacher had specifically asked for it to be delivered to her at 10am.
Just as Chloe's eyes found her English classroom door, she felt her ankle twist and her foot buckle over, making her tumble forward. But before she could level her hands out for impact, she felt a hand grab her wrist from the side, pulling her back up.
She stumbled into a pair of small strong arms, stormy blues staring back in amusement.
"Somebody's in a rush." Beca said, a smirk peeking at the side of her mouth.
"Beca!" Chloe said, surprised to see the other girl. "What are you doing here?" She rushed out, her eyes flicking between Beca's.
"What are you doing here?" The shorter girl fired back, reversing the question.
"English assignment," Chloe said, her eyes flying back to the clock. "Which is a week and 13 minutes late, I might add."
"Yikes." Beca grimaced. Chloe then looked back to her, her eyes suddenly widening.
"Jesus, Becs! You look terrible!" She exclaimed, examining over the red rims and darkness surrounding the shorter brunette's eyes.
"Gee, thanks."
"You know I don't mean it that way," Chloe said, pinching Beca on the arm. "Did you even sleep last night?"
Shaking her head, Beca replied, "No, too busy researching on the attack. Haven't really slept all weekend, to be honest." She shrugged.
Not being impressed, Chloe shook her own head before dragging Beca into an empty classroom nearby- assignment long forgotten.
"Beca, that's not healthy." She said, glancing through the window on the door.
"I know... but I need to stop this person." Beca said. "If I don't, who knows what could happen!" She exclaimed, waving her hands around.
"But that's not your job," Chloe tried to reason, her eyes finding Beca's. "Leave it up to the police."
"No, they're useless." Beca replied. "I mean... they're not useless, useless, but ugh..." Bringing a hand to her head, Beca sighed. "It is my job. I'm Spider-Man for Christ's sake."
"You're also a 17-year-old who needs sleep right now." Chloe piped in, reaching out to run her hands over Beca's arms.
"And you're an 18-year-old who needs to hand in an assignment right now." Beca chimed back, smirking.
"Touche, Mitchell." Chloe smiled. "But you are right."
"I'm Spider-Man, of course I'm right." The smaller brunette smirked. Suddenly an amazing idea popped into her head, "Hey, do you want to ditch this place and go out for the day?"
Caught off guard, Chloe's head snapped away from the shelf to the side that she was staring at, to glance back at Beca, "What?" She asked, confused.
"Yeah!" Beca replied back, her arms waving around frantically, "Let's just leave."
Shaking her head, Chloe's hand fell to the strap of her backpack, "I have to give in this assignment-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know." Beca quickly interrupted, her eyes flickering across the room. "But how about after that?"
Sighing, the redhead shook her head once again, her gaze downcast, "Becs, I'd love nothing more than to escape this place, but there's no possible way for me to get out without getting caught-"
"Oh, don't worry about that." Beca interrupted again, this time with a small smile on her face. When she caught Chloe's eye, she gave her a sly wink. "So, what do you say?"
XxX
"BECA!" Chloe screamed just as they landed onto the stone ground, she spun around whacking the girl on the arm, repeatedly.
"Jeez, woman, would you cut it out!" Beca laughed, using her hands as shields against the redhead's attacks.
"Never." Whack. "Do." Whack. "That." Whack. "Again!" Chloe panted, hitting her for a final time. Breathing heavily, she used her hand to run it through her dishevelled hair.
Beca stood with a smirk as she held her hands up in defence.
"I'm sorry, Red." She said, chuckling as Chloe glared at her. Taking a few steps forward, she wrapped an arm around the redhead, "On the bright-side, doesn't this view look nice?" Beca asked, tipping her head forward.
Chloe continued her glare at her for a few more seconds before turning her head towards the front.
Chloe's features immediately softened up as she gazed upon the view in her line of sight.
Beca had snuck Chloe out of their high school just after the redhead had handed in her assignment. The brunette then proceeded to scare the living daylights out of the other girl by webbing their way through the city before bringing her to one of her favourite places.
Chloe felt a smile creep onto her face as Beca slowly walked them towards the edge of the clock tower they were on, and gaze out to the busy city. From up here, the city looked so peaceful, was much quieter and Chloe couldn't help but be amazed.
She had never seen the city like this before.
"This is incredible." She heard herself saying. From her peripheral, she saw Beca nod and answer with a "Yeah."
Beca unwrapped her arm from the girl before making her way over to the small ledge under the massive clock mounted on the wall. She slid her way down the wall to sit gently on the ground before pulling her backpack off.
Chloe followed, though she found herself wavering from time to time from the height she was at.
Sitting beside Beca, she turned to her, "Why out of all places, did you bring us here?"
Puffing out some air, Beca shook her head, "It's a comfort to me, I guess," She shrugged. "I come here when I'm stressed." She added, watching as a bird flew past.
"Well, it's beautiful up here." Chloe voiced, crossing her legs.
"Yeah, it really is," Beca agreed, her voice slightly dazed. "This is actually one of my favourite spots in the city." She then said. "I come here whenever I can. Sometimes I keep watch on the city, and sometimes I just make music."
Chloe nodded as she listened, she could understand wanting to escape. Suddenly her eyebrows furrowed as she remembered they were sitting under a clock. "Doesn't that get annoying though?" She asked, pointing towards the clock. "You know, the ticking?" She clarified.
"In the beginning, it was a little annoying, yeah." Beca shrugged, chuckling, "Got used to it over time."
"So.. Spidey," Chloe smirked as Beca gave her a deadpan look, "What's your big plan on catching the bad guy?"
Sighing, Beca replied, "Now that's a toughie, I've tried everything. I spent all weekend researching, out patrolling the streets- I just got nothing." She threw her hands into the air.
"Maybe they were someone working at Oscorp?" Chloe suggested with raised brows.
"Oscorp?"
"Yeah, they're some scientific company that just opened up-"
"Chlo, Chloe-" Beca reached out to grab one of her hands, "I know who they are, sweetie."
Chloe stopped, her eyes widening. "Oh my god!" She exclaimed, "you just called me sweetie!" She smirked, reaching out with her free hand to pinch Beca on the cheek, "You are so cute." She beamed at the younger girl.
"Okay... And I'm never calling you that again." Beca said. Chloe just smiled. "Anyway, why do you think they'd be working at Oscorp?"
"Aubrey was telling me her older brother got an internship there, and apparently he heard some people talking about some sketchy stuff."
"Okay, skater girl, define sketchy." Beca asked, her eyes watching as Chloe toyed around with her fingers.
"Look, I'm not too sure what it was he really heard, Aubrey just said that it didn't sound like anything remotely positive." She said, halting on playing with Beca's fingers, instead linking their hands together.
"Okay..." Beca took in the information. "So, what you're saying... is that I should sneak into Oscorp-"
"What, no?!" Chloe interrupted, her eyes widening, "That's definitely not what I was saying!"
"-so, it's decided, I'll sneak into Oscorp tomorrow night."
"Beca."
"Chloe."
"Beca..."
"Chloe..."
The two stared at each other, daring the other to break.
And as you'd imagine, Chloe broke first as Beca began wiggling her eyebrows at her. Bursting out laughing, Chloe reached over to steady herself, her frame falling into Beca's.
Giggling, she attempted to say, "Don't- g-go to O..Oscorp."
Feeling her giggles calm, she repeated, "Don't be sneaking into Oscorp."
"Why not?" Beca asked.
"Because you could be caught? Or killed."
"I doubt either of those would happen."
"You never know, there's always a first." Chloe said. "Just like that time when I almost got hit on the street. I didn't think that would have happened but low and behold it did... but thank God, you were there that day."
"Oh yeah..." Beca thought back, "That crazy redhead was you."
Chloe glared at her.
"I'm not crazy."
"You kinda are."
"Am not!"
"Fine then, you're not."
"Thank you..."
After a moment of silence, Beca bit her bottom lip as she thought.
"Hey Chlo?" She called out to the girl. Humming, the redhead twisted to face her, so Beca continued, "What if I snuck into The Avenge-"
"-don't you dare."
