Alright! New chapter is up! Let's get into the action!
The following sunrise, the lupine and the vulpine awoke to the sound of chirping birds and ocean waves.
Wolf was awake, but his eyes wouldn't open. He then felt a scratching sensation behind his ear, his favorite spot, as his leg rapidly kicked in the air as a blissful puppy-like whimper escaped from his mouth. There's only one person who knew that was his favorite way of waking up.
"Good morning, beautiful." Wolf said to Diane before opening his maw real wide to let out a yawn.
"Right back at yah, Hun!" Diane replied back.
He loves when his wife calls him either 'hun' or 'babe.' He also loves it when he mentally refers to her as his wife.
"How was your night?" Wolf asked, trying to muster as much of his trademark smirk his still groggy body would allow.
"It was… nice." She answered softly.
"Nice?" Wolf asked. "It was at least worth a 'wonderful!' or even an 'amazing!'"
Diane then kissed Wolf's nose gently, one of the many surefire ways she discovered to get Wolf to stop talking.
"But I can accept 'nice.'" Wolf said.
Wolf then noticed that she was wearing his white button shirt, which looked a bit big on her. All Wolf had on were his pink heart boxers. Diane sighed as she looked down at Wolf.
"What?" Wolf chuckled.
"You look so adorable when you're asleep. You know that?" She told him.
"No, YOU look adorable. I look handsome." He answered.
Diane chuckled.
"Hermano! Diane! You guys awake? I made omelettes!" Piranha shouted from downstairs.
"Guess we gotta get up." Wolf said as he was about to get up before Diane stopped him by placing her hands on his shoulders.
"They can wait…at least one more minute." Diane said before she kissed his nose.
"Yeah, I guess they can." Wolf chuckled.
About a week later, Diane went back to the office as usual, only this time, she felt groggy. She had a hard time getting up that morning, she didn't know why, she just figured some coffee will do the trick. Diane walked along side with her bodyguard, Piranha while her secretary, Tarantula crawled up to her shoulder with a tablet in her hands. They may still be doing a little thieving now and again, but a beach house isn't cheap.
"What's on today's schedule, Ms. Tarantula?" Diane asked the arachnid while taking a sip from her mug.
"You have a meeting at 1:30 with Luggins about those police reports, then a meeting with that school superintendent at 3:45 about getting a construction permit so they can rebuild the run down high school and you need to review the new state policies." Webs replied while scrolling through her miniature tablet.
"Excellent. Pretty easy day." Diane said. "Especially after how sick I've been feeling lately." She mumbled to herself.
"What?" Tarantula asked.
"It's nothing." Diane answered.
She then immediately felt waves of nausea as she bent over and placed one of her paws on her knees, as to not lose her balance.
"Diane, you okay?" Tarantula asked as Piranha rushed over to her side.
"Yeah, it's nothing…" Diane assured. "I think…I think I'm just working too hard…"
Diane had been having this pain for quite awhile, though she was able to hide it for a few days since it didn't happen too often, but now it's starting to get frequent. Her head hurts, her stomach hurts, her whole body felt like it was in a catastrophic amount of pain. She couldn't even find enough energy to move and on top of all that, she was starving despite eating what felt like a nine course buffet thirty-minutes ago.
"You sure?" Piranha asked.
"Absolutely." Diane replied. "There is nothing wrong with me, I'm perfectly fi…fi…fi…"
Diane ran to the nearest restroom as Piranha, being her bodyguard, had to keep up with her and tackled anyone that got in the way, about three people were knocked over to the floor.
Once the door was closed, sounds of gagging and hurling can be heard as Tarantula walked over and knocked on the door.
"You sure you're not coming down with anything?" Webs asked.
"Pretty sure. I probably ate something that didn't agree with me this morning…" Diane answered from behind the door.
"We still think you should see a doctor. Food poising is also pretty serious." Piranha said.
"I'm fine guys, really." Diane said.
Tarantula, who was still not convinced, decided to give Wolf a call and tell her what happened.
Later that evening, as the three returned home, Wolf was at the front door as he quickly took Diane into his arms, Shark soon followed behind.
"Diane!" Wolf shouted, startling her. "Webs called me and told me what happened, is everything okay?" He asked holding his wife close to his body.
"What?" She's asked.
"You threw up in the bathroom today, are you sick? Please tell me if you are sick! I don't like the idea of my wife getting sick!" Wolf panicked a little.
Diane sighed. Of course something like this would happen.
"I'm fine. I just ate a bad breakfast. It's no big deal." Diane said.
"You sure you're okay?" Asked Wolf.
"Yeah, we think you should see a doctor about this. You've been getting groggy lately, don't think I didn't notice." Webs suggested.
"I agree with Wolf and Tarantula, it might be serious." Shark said.
"We're just looking out for you." Piranha added.
"I honestly don't care…you should still see a doctor though or whatever." Snake shouted from the other room while keeping his eyes on the tv.
Diane felt like she was being cornered against a wall, she didn't like it. Piranha then placed his hand on Diane to comfort her and before she even knew what she was doing, Diane aggressively pushed him away, knocking Piranha off his feet and on his butt.
"I said I'm okay! Now would you all just shut up?! I don't need any of you to tell me what to do!" Diane furiously shouted.
Everyone was stunned, even Snake looked away from the tv to see what had happened.
Diane then regained her sanity and saw that everyone looking at her with fear. It hurt her a little, since those stares reminded her of an elementary school fight she got into once after a kid constantly bullied her and called her a 'shifty fox.' Piranha was on the brink of tears before Tarantula wandered over to her friend, trying to comfort him. At first, Piranha was a little surprised by the gesture but after a moment, he came to realize that he liked the feeling of someone taking care of him. Especially if it was his arachnid companion.
"I-I'm really sorry about my outburst…" Diane apologized to everyone. "I'm going to bed…"
Diane then made her way upstairs as Wolf followed her.
"I'll go talk to her." Wolf told everyone.
He made it to his room to see that Diane was on their bed, crying to herself.
Diane looked up to notice her husband had entered the room.
"Don't say anything Wolf, I want to be alone right now…" she told him.
Wolf walked over to her, not saying anything.
"I meant it Wolf! You try anything… I swear I will judo chop your neck!" Diane said.
Wolf continued to not say anything as he now sat on the bed with her.
"You have five seconds to leave!" Diane warned him.
He then hugged her, which caught her off guard a little but damn, if she didn't need one right about now.
"Better?" Wolf asked.
"Yeah, I guess…" Diane said.
"Everything alright?" Wolf asked. "You seemed pretty shook up after that outburst."
Diane sighed, she told him about that childhood fight and Wolf was a little shocked but not surprised. After all, his life experiences were almost no different.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Wolf said.
"It's okay…" she assured him.
They were silent for a moment.
"I'll go see a doctor first thing tomorrow." Diane told him, still feeling bad for yelling at her friends who were just trying to help out.
"You do that…" Wolf comforted her. "You want to be left alone now or…?"
"No." She answered. "I want my husband to stay with me."
Wolf chuckled as he happily obliged and continued holding her for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow came and Diane entered the house as she held a small box under one of her arms. She took a deep breath as she mentally prepared herself for what she had learned today. The second she opened the door, she was instantly hugged by Wolf.
"Diane!" Wolf said as he rushed over to her. "Are you okay?"
"Yes. I went to the doctor today, like I promised." Diane said.
"It's nothing serious, right?" Wolf asked, with complete concern.
"Yes. It's serious, but in a good way." Diane told him.
Wolf gave her a confused look.
"Just sit down." She said as they went to the nearby kitchen table.
Wolf did exactly what she said and sat down in the chair opposite of her. Diane took the small gift from under her arm and placed it on the table.
"I got this because I thought it would be fun to tell you this way."
"Tell me what?"
Diane slid Wolf the small box across the table, Wolf opened the gift box, moved the paper out of the way and lifted what appeared to be a tiny set of dark blue feety-pajamas with a crescent moon on the front. Wolf was stunned for a moment as Diane looked happy.
"You got new jammies for Piranha?" He asked.
Diane's face went from happy to annoyed. Her husband can NOT be this dense!
"No Wolf, I'm pregnant!" She said.
Wolf froze when he heard that last part as he dropped the pajamas.
"No. Seriously, what?" He asked, hoping that his wife said a joke like always.
"I am serious. You're going to be a father!" Diane told her husband. "Isn't that great?"
Wolf was completely dumbfounded, he struggled to reply back but he was successful enough in his efforts.
"That's…a-a-amazing!" Wolf cheerfully replied before the realization hit him.
"But that's terrifying…" he thought in a grim tone.
"But that's so amazing!" He thought cheerfully.
"But that's SO terrifying…" he repeated, mortified.
"C'mon, is everyone here? We have to tell them!" Diane said getting up from the chair as she made her way over to Wolf, kissed his cheek and then grabbed Wolf by the arm to drag him out with rapid speed.
The rest of the crew were in the living room, Shark and Snake were watching a corny sitcom and riffing on it, Tarantula was browsing through social media and Piranha was playing with the kitty.
"Hello everyone." Diane said.
Everyone looked at her with a bit of concern.
"Listen, I know that I wasn't really in the best of moods yesterday and I am truly sorry for how I behaved. You guys were just looking out for me and I snapped at you for no good reason. I am really sorry for that." Diane apologized.
"No worries Diane. You know we like you too much to not forgive you!" Shark assured her.
"Yeah! You're my bestie!" Webs added.
"What happens in Girls Trip, stays in Girls Trip." Piranha said.
Snake just made a grunt that sounded like he didn't care, but she knew deep down that he cared immensely.
"With that said, Wolf and I have some great news to tell you! Wolf? Don't you wanna tell everyone something?" Diane said.
Everyone then turned to see that Wolf, who was still petrified over the news, was silent. Unmoving as he just gave a thousand yard stare with his widened yellow eyes.
"Wolf? Babe?" Diane asked.
"Hey buddy, are you alright?" Snake asked, showing legit concern.
Wolf then moved his arms as he showed everyone the baby pajamas, his stunned blank expression unchanged. Everyone looked surprised as they all simultaneously gasped.
"You got me new jammies?" Piranha asked.
Snake then slapped Piranha upside the head.
"No! They're having a baby, you dunce!" Snake scolded.
"Oooohhh…" Piranha said. "Wait…" he began processing the information.
"¡Dios Mío! ¡Voy a ser Tio!" Shouted Piranha. "¡VOY A SER TIO!" He repeated happily.
Piranha ran over to them and gave them a hug!
"Felicidades hermano!" Piranha cheerfully said.
Shark ran towards them and trapped the couple in a big hug.
"AAAWWWWW! I'm so happy for you guys! Congratulations!" Shark happily shouted.
Tarantula crawled her way over Shark's shoulder and leaped onto Wolf's shoulder, so she could stand right between them.
"Congratulations, you two!" Tarantula said as she playfully punched Wolf on the nose and patted Diane's nose.
Shark eventually lets go of the couple in time for Snake to give his congratulations.
"Congrats, bud!" Snake playfully punched Wolf's arm with his tail, Wolf still unmoving.
"He okay?" Snake asked Diane.
Diane only shrugged.
Wolf had about a million thoughts in his head right now but there was only one that stuck out.
"I'm about to be a dad…"
It was at this moment, Wolf passed out and collapsed on the floor without warning.
How about that? Wolf is about to be a dad. Get ready for the hijinx to ensue next time!
