New chapter is up and ready! This one is also really cute, see you guys after!
Months passed and Diane had gotten so big that at this point, she had no choice but to start wearing appropriate clothes. She currently wore a white sweater with black yoga pants. She still had a job as governor to do, even if she was on maternity leave at the moment. It wouldn't take long however for the public to notice since Diane had an interview with Tiffany Fluffit when she dropped the fact that she was carrying Wolf's child.
"Hey, congratulations!" Said a random bystander.
"Thanks!" Wolf and Diane simultaneously replied.
"Congrats on the baby!" Said another random passerby.
"Thanks!" Wolf and Diane simultaneously replied once more.
They entered a sandwich shop and once they arrived at the counter, Wolf pulled out his wallet and faced his wife.
"Okay Diane, I think I got enough money, so get anything you want." Wolf told her.
He instantly regretted saying those words.
"Anything?" She asked.
Her stomach growled as if the pup inside was telling her 'DO IT!'
Wolf and Diane walked out of that place with two large bags in Wolf's arms and Diane had a small cup of ice cream drenched in caramel in her hands.
"They didn't even HAVE any ice cream!" Wolf commented.
They would later return home and Wolf told Diane that he had to get something upstairs and that he would come right back. He'd had been gone for about 20 minutes and Diane was starting to get worried.
"What's taking Wolf so long?" Diane asked while eating her third caramel soaked sandwich.
Diane got up, which wasn't easy, and walked over to find her husband. When she heard what sounded like hard plastic falling over. She quickly ran over with as much speed as she could muster in this condition and followed the noise to see that it was coming from the spare room next to her and Wolf's room. She noticed the door was left a crack and took a small peek through to notice Wolf and Snake were arguing.
"Snake! You cracked it!" Shouted Wolf.
"No I didn't! It's still good!" Snake retorted.
Diane looked to the floor of that room to see that it was the side of a crib. They were converting one of their many guest rooms into a nursery. Shark and Piranha were painting the walls a beautiful shade of dark blue as Wolf and Snake were setting up the crib all while Tarantula was on her laptop.
Snake then picked up the framing. "See? Still good!"
But once Snake did that, the frame fell apart.
"I'll get the glue." Snake quickly said.
Diane opened the door when everyone was distracted and walked over to see everyone.
"Diane!" Wolf shouted.
"Are you guys building the nursery?" She asked.
Wolf was still frozen before he sighed.
"This was suppose to be a surprise but…" Wolf said. "Yeah. We are."
Diane then noticed that the five were stained with different colors of paint.
"We couldn't decide on a color for the walls at first, so we all settled on moonlight blue." Wolf explained.
"I still say it should've been a rusted umber." Shark said.
"SHARK, I SWEAR!" Wolf yelled before calming himself down.
"We really went back and forth with that issue." Piranha said.
"That reminds me! Webs, we're gonna need a rocking chair!" Wolf turned to face his arachnid companion.
"Already ordered one from Amazon. It'll be here in 3-5 days." The theraphosidae said, without looking away from her screen.
"Well, either way we just finished painting the walls!" Shark sighed in relief as he and Piranha dropped their rollers.
"Well, I think it's wonderful and moonlight blue is a perfect color." Diane said as she was about to wrap her arm around her husband's before Wolf stopped her.
"Easy! We're drenched in paint! It could still be wet!" Wolf warned.
Immediately after he said that however, Wolf noticed his hand landed on the wall and quickly removed it and saw that it left a sky blue paw print on the wall.
"Come on, man! That took us 2 hours!" Shark shouted.
"Hold on." Diane interjected.
She then walked over and observed the paw print before she grabbed a brush, painted her paw red, and placed it right next to Wolf's. Shark looked at the wall in astonishment, clever fox indeed. Diane then gestured for everyone else to come and do the same. Shark and Piranha put their fins in different colors of paint and placed them, Webs dipped all her leg tips in paint and had Diane gently place her to leave her mark, and they even got the cat to do the same. Snake was the only one left to contribute but they got him to turn around. All seven paw prints managed to form a heart with one little bit of empty space in the middle right between where Wolf and Diane's paws were, reserved specially for the pup.
"Ugh, I'm gonna lose a foot to diabetes from how sweet that was, and I don't even have feet!" Snake said in annoyance.
"Cool! We made a butt!" Piranha said out of the blue.
Everyone laughed.
"Okay, that made me feel better." Snake commented.
The next day, the five ex-cons were at a department store.
"Tell me what we're doing here?" Asked Snake.
"We still need some gifts for the pup." Shark answered.
"Didn't we get everything from Amazon?" Tarantula asked.
"No, these are special gifts. Diane needs some things to show that we personally care." Shark said.
Snake just rolled his eyes before Wolf nudged him to be nice.
"Well, I guess I'll just look for something then…" Piranha said before he felt something grab his hand, he turned to see that it was Tarantula.
"I-I'll come with you, you need all the help you can get." Tarantula told Piranha has she went to hold his hand, Piranha blushing a little from how soft Web's fur was.
"Oh, uhm… okay then." He said.
"And to be honest, I'm gonna need some help too…" Webs blushed a little. "I've never done any shopping that wasn't done in front of a screen."
The two made their way down as Wolf, Shark and Snake looked on.
"50 bucks says that the cashier mistakes them as a young couple that didn't use protection." Snake said.
"Double it if they decide to roll with it." Shark added.
"Triple it and I'll give both of you guys a whole box of push pops if Piranha gets angry, fights the cashier and Webs tries to calm him down." Wolf interjected.
Since Wolf and Diane's betting pool was shut down, they ended up finding a new one with Piranha and Tarantula.
"We can discuss this later, right now we have presents to find!" Shark said.
The rest of the crew went their separate ways in order to find their special gifts.
Wolf made his way down the plushie aisle, looking at every plushie, they all were the usual cuddly, friendly animals like sheep, bunnies or unicorns. He rolled his eyes, of course these stuffed animals would be in abundance here. Wolf then saw a small plushie, it was an animal he didn't think he would ever find. A tiny gray wolf and it didn't look scary. In fact, it looked downright adorable with it's beady eyes, chubby white tummy, rosy cheeks and big blue bowtie around it's neck as the wolf doll had the sweetest looking smile on it's face. He looked around the shelf to see that it was the only one, almost as if nobody wanted it. He knew exactly how that felt. He reached for it and it squeaked when he grabbed it. As he observed the doll, he chuckled.
"Nobody likes you either, huh?" Wolf asked the doll.
He further observed the doll and noticed something on the tag.
"Mr. Goodwolf…" Wolf read the tag out loud.
"Well, Mr. Goodwolf, I'm sure a lot of people have made assumptions about you… they probably thought you were just too scary for their kid." He looked directly at the doll. "But let me tell you, you're exactly the kind of guy, I think my kid is gonna love."
He finally decided to get that doll as he made his way to meet up with the others.
Back at the Beach House, Diane was sitting on the couch, watching a documentary about foxes raising their kits and wolves raising their pups. She shoveled another caramel dipped potato chip into her mouth. She had been eating so much of that stuff lately, that the company that makes these caramel products will probably go out of business once she has the baby. She then heard the door open and saw everyone entering.
"We're back and we got you gifts!" Shark announced.
"Oh, really?" Diane said as she paused her video and tried to sit up and clean herself as much as possible. "Let me see!"
Wolf just shrugged as everyone made their way to Diane and presented their gifts one by one.
"I got you this cute blanket!" Shark then pulled out a blanket that had what looked like cute sheep jumping over fences printed all over it.
"This race car bottle is from me!" Piranha then pulled out exactly that as he played with it, making car noises.
"Got you a mobile for the crib." Webs showed a box that contained a mobile that looked like a cutesy replica of the solar system. "I'm also gonna turn this thing into a wi-fi hot spot."
"And I got you this little peach rattle…" Snake then pulls out a rattle that looked like a giant peach growing out of a tiny tree. "…That doubles as a switchblade!" Snake then splits open the peach part and out pops a sharp blade that startled Diane.
Everyone stared at Snake.
"What? It's to protect him! You don't know what kind of freaks are out there!" Snake said.
Everyone looked at Snake with concern.
"Don't forget, someone stabbed me on your wedding day!" Snake reminded Diane.
They all look over to Wolf, who made his way over to Diane and kneeled down in front of her.
"I got this little guy." Wolf said, bringing out Mr. Goodwolf.
"Awww…" Diane cooed. "He's so adorable! I love it!"
Wolf then handed over the doll to Diane as she hugged it tightly with a few tears falling from her face.
"Someone's hormones are kicking in…" Webs said.
"How did you even get a rattle switchblade?" Asked Shark to Snake.
"I know a guy, he can make a switchblade out of anything!" Snake answered.
Diane couldn't help but to chuckle as she managed to overhear that conversation. They really are like a family.
"Ooh!" Diane quickly placed her hand on her stomach.
"What is it?" Wolf frantically asked, fearing the worst scenario.
"The baby's just kicking." Diane tenderly answered rubbing her stomach. "Here, feel."
Diane extended her hand to Wolf's as Wolf placed his paw on Diane's stomach, feeling the soft, little thumping within. He got to feel his child's first kicks and he was in major disbelief that this is happening right now.
"Wow…" Wolf whispered with tears starting to form in his eyes. "I really am going to be a father, aren't I?" he thought to himself.
Wolf and Diane shared a tender moment with one another, as the tremors from the pup's kicks still reverberated through his hand.
"Hey…b-buddy…" Wolf said to the baby bump. "I'm your daddy and I just wanted to say hi and that your mommy and I can't wait to properly meet you."
Diane chuckled. They both looked over at the others.
"You guys wanna feel?" Diane offered while Wolf nudged his head for them to come over, to which the rest of the crew gladly took up on.
Snake felt first, he felt the same thump that Wolf felt.
Snake only chuckled.
Shark was the next to get a turn, his fin practically covering the swollen bump.
"Wow! You'd think I'd get used to that…" Shark said as nostalgic memories of the times he felt his siblings' kicks in his pregnant mother's tummy came flooding back in.
When it was Piranha's turn to feel, the particular kick he got made him fly clear across the room as he knocked down a shelf of books, causing the books to pile on top of him. He emerged out from the pile, whooping and laughing with excitement.
"That's a fighter, right there! WOOOOOOO!" Piranha proudly shouted before he made his way back to Diane. "Hey, I've once read that singing can help the kid!" Piranha was about ready to do so before Wolf quickly made his way over.
"NOPE! Nope-nope-nope!" Wolf said as he grabbed Piranha by the scalp and pulled him away before the Pygocentrus nattereri could even belt out a singular note.
Tarantula was last and the little kick she get nearly knocked her out of place, but that was due to her size.
"Piranha wasn't kidding…" Tarantula muttered as she smiled.
The cat then walked over, waking up from his nap.
"Oh, you wanna feel too?" Wolf asked.
The kitty sat on Diane's lap as he snuggled up to her belly, a little startled when he felt a kick.
"That's right Kitty…that's your little sibling!" Wolf told the cat.
"Did you really just say that?" Diane asked.
"That has to be the sappiest thing you ever said!" Snake interjected.
"You never heard his vow, you'd have puked for sure!" Tarantula said as everyone laughed.
Few days have passed as Snake and Shark were both returning home simultaneously, Snake from his locksmith job and Shark from rehearsal.
"We're home!" Snake announced.
"Also the rocking chair came in!" Shark added dragging the large box in.
"Hey Wolf. Hey Diane." Shark said as he entered the kitchen with the large box.
"Hey." Wolf greeted.
"Hey guys…" Diane also greeted, but was muffled due to the massive amount of food. At this point, she could probably out-eat both Piranha AND Snake.
"Are you eating a whole three-meat pizza by yourself?" Asked Shark noticing the large pizza box in front the expecting fox as well as a small tub of caramel dip. "And it's smothered in caramel?"
"Yeah. She's put that stuff on everything! We've gone through so much of that caramel!" Wolf said.
"Have you tried caramel on a guinea pig though? It's so good!" Snake commented.
"Snake!" Wolf shouted.
"She has been eating proper foods, right?" Shark asked.
"Yeah, she has but every now and then, I let her indulge." Wolf answered.
"How often is 'now and then,' though?" Asked Shark.
"Uuhhh…" Wolf said.
He rapidly ran over to the box.
"You said the rocking chair came? Let's build it!" Wolf said, drastically wanting to change the subject.
"But Wolf, I feel needy…" Diane told him reaching her hands out to him.
Wolf looked a bit guilty, leaving his wife unattended.
"I'll look after Diane, you go ahead and build the rocking chair." Shark said.
"Thanks." Wolf said.
"Anytime." Shark replied, giving a thumbs up.
Wolf and Snake went over to the nursery to assemble the rocking chair.
"So… how have you been?" Snake asked.
"Hmm?" Questioned Wolf.
"You were so nervous about the baby last time we talked but now, you seem to be handling it well…" Snake commented.
"Oh, yeah…" Wolf answered. "I was nervous but after talking with Diane, I learned she was scared also but she didn't worry too much cause she had me and I had her, we can help each other out on this and learn together."
Snake nodded happily.
"Then I remembered those push pops you gave me as reminder..." Wolf said.
Snake chuckled, he knew exactly what he was talking about.
"I still have the box, by the way." Wolf commented.
"Really?" Snake asked.
"What? It's got sentimental value." Wolf said. His wife's habits seem to have rubbed off on him.
Shark soon entered the room.
"Wolf."
"Yeah?"
"We need you!"
"For what? Pup's not coming is it?" Wolf asked.
"Oh no, Diane just needs an all over massage…" Shark told him.
"Why can't you do it?" Asked Wolf
"Dude, I can't give one to YOUR wife! It's too intimate!" Shark answered.
"I see…" Wolf said. "I'll be right there."
"In return, can you help Snake build the rocking chair?" Wolf asked.
"Yeah, okay." Shark answered.
"Thanks!" Wolf gave his friend a thumbs up and made his way to his wife.
The next morning, Diane sat in the newly built rocking chair as she cradled her bump in her arms as she hummed a tune.
"Boy, don't you know you're never gonna shake me. Ooo darling, cause you'll always be my baby…"
Diane felt a small kick as she looked at her bump with loving eyes.
"That's right sweetie…" Diane said, gently cradling her stomach with one arm. "Mommy's talking about you."
Wolf entered the room and noticed how sweet his wife looked.
"Hey." Wolf said with a tender smile.
"Hi." Diane smiled in return.
They were silent for a moment, until Diane spoke up.
"Come here, Wolf" She said.
Wolf walked over to her side and Diane gently grabbed his paw and placed it against her swollen belly. He felt the pup move inside her, he sighed as he was carried away by this feeling and knelt down to get a better position.
"Wolf…"
"Hmm?" Wolf broke from his drifting thoughts and back into reality.
"Do you think I'm getting fat?"
Wolf look startled.
"What? Why are asking me that?"
"I don't know, I guess I've been feeling chubby, what with this and all the eating."
Wolf was trying hard to think of the right words to say.
"Well… I don't think you're fat. Just remember that it's a baby, not a pile of food."
"I know that, I just don't like how it's making me feel a little gross and bloated." She said.
Wolf got an idea.
"I'll be right back." He told her, exiting the room and leaving Diane a little confused.
When he came back, he wore a white t-shirt and held a basketball in one hand. He lifted the shirt, placed the basketball underneath and tucked his shirt into his pants.
"What are you doing, Wolfy?" Diane chuckled.
"Supporting my pregnant wife." Wolf said patting his pseudo-belly.
"Okay, but you're not trying on my maternity jeans, you don't have the legs to pull them off." Diane joked, Wolf chuckled. Snake walked by as the scene unfold, he did a double take and decided to forget what he just saw.
"I'm going to be the pup's favorite!" Snake shouted. "I'm gonna teach the kid how to pick through any and every safety lock!"
"No, I'M gonna be the favorite! He's gonna be a greatest master of disguise thanks to me!" Shark shouted. "I have the shirt to prove it!" He grabs the sides of his jacket to reveal the shirt underneath that says 'This is what the world's greatest uncle looks like.' In white font.
"You're both wrong! Little Cachorro's favorite is going to be ME! He's a fighter in the making!" Piranha shouted as he put his fists up.
"Actually, you're all wrong. I'LL be the fave and SHE'S going to learn how to bypass the screen time lock!" Tarantula yelled.
The four ex-cons were having their usual conversation over who will teach the baby what and who's going to be the favorite.
Diane just sighed as she drank her water in the living room, hearing the discourse that was unfolding in the kitchen.
"They're fighting over who's gonna be the favorite again?" Wolf asked as he sat down next to her with his coffee in one hand.
"Should we tell them that we've already chosen Snake as the main godparent?"
Wolf looked at the scene in front of him, the argument has evolved into a full-on brawl, like it always does.
"Nah, let's wait until they're in a better mood."
"Agreed."
Another week passed and it was time for the ultrasound. The entire crew made their way to the hospital. Wolf, as usual was really nervous.
"What if there's more than one? I can't deal with multiple kids at once!" Wolf panicked his face getting whiter and whiter with every concerning thought.
"Buddy, I got the cure for what ales yah." Snake said reassuringly.
Snake then slapped Wolf's face, just like on his wedding day.
"Thanks." Wolf said.
The entire gang was watching the screen as a blurry image was coming in.
"There's our precious, little gift." The doctor said pointing to the screen as he gently ran the device across Diane's belly.
On the screen was a gray, blurry image of a small creature in a curled up position.
"It looks like a wolf." Snake commented.
"It looks like a fox." Webs argued.
"It looks like a blob." Piranha said.
Both Snake and Tarantula look at Piranha with annoyed glances. He was so dense.
"I've also checked the baby's vitals, everything looks in order, so you should be good." The doctor added.
"That's wonderful." Wolf nervously replied, his eyes locked on the screen. He swore he could make out little fox ears and a wolf tail.
Diane held her husband's hand, wanting him to stay by her side.
"So doc, what are we having?" Shark asked.
The doctor studied the screen and looked back at his notes before giving the two canines a friendly smile.
"Congratulations, you're having a boy." The doctor told them.
Diane laid comfortably on her bed by herself, affectionately holding and rubbing her baby bump.
"I know you want to get out and see the world already, but you're just gonna have to wait a little more." She quietly said to her bump. "But it won't be long until we get to see you."
Wolf then entered the room.
"Hey, Foxy Mama…" Wolf smiled.
"Hey, Big Dad Wolf." Diane smiled back,
Wolf looked at her with his trademark smolder.
"What?" Diane chuckled.
"Have I told you that you look just as beautiful as the day I met you?" He said.
"Stop it!" Diane chuckled.
Wolf walked over and crawled into her bed and placed his paw on her bump.
"So, have you thought up a name yet?" Wolf asked.
"I've been going through a list, but there's one that really sticks out…" Diane said.
"Oh, and what name would that be?" Wolf asked.
"Well, I've been thinking about how this is the child of two master thieves who decided to turn their lives around and how one of them never gave up, never turned his back on his friends and truly redeemed himself so much that I can't think of anyone better to name this pup than his own father…"
"Are you serious?" Wolf asked.
"I am." Diane answered as she held her bump once more. "Moe Wolf Jr." Diane softly announced.
Wolf's yellow eyes were wide for a moment. Afterwards, he couldn't help but to smile. During one of her visits to the jail, Wolf told her his real name and everyone else would eventually reveal theirs, aside from Snake however. Since society only ever saw them as the things they were, they felt that using their actual names was pointless. Everyone still prefers to not use their real names however. Wolf looked down at the baby bump before he kissed her belly.
"It's perfect!" He said.
That's another chapter done. It saddens me to say this but the next chapter is going to be the last one. I know you're sad but cheer up. We had a fun ride right? I'll see you guys next time!
