That Night
Koll was escorted into the woods by a man name Gobber. Since Stoick has no trust in Koll and Toothless. When Gobber decided where to make camp, Koll began to get sticks while Toothless blasted the ground in a circle before laying down. Gobber sat on a log eyeing both Rider and Dragon. Koll had respect for the old warrior. He had many battle injuries yet he was still able to fight off Dragons and Vikings. When Koll gave the signal, Toothless fired a small blast starting the fire.
"Heh. I say that's just lazy." Gobber remarked as Koll started to set up his tent.
"You say lazy, I say making camp faster." Koll replied. "So how many dragons usually raid your village?"
"A couple dozen or so. They're a real nuisance." Gobber answered as Koll's tent was finished. "So who made that tail and saddle. Excellent workmanship."
"That would be me. Just a skill I picked up from the Stronghold." Koll replied as he grabbed jerky from his pack.
"Ah. You're lucky you know." Gobber remarked and Koll raised an eyebrow.
"Why would I be lucky? I lost the one thing that could tell me who my family is." Koll asked before taking a bite of his jerky.
"Because you reminded Valka of her son." Gobber answered and Koll was puzzled.
"Was he a dragon rider too?" Koll asked jokingly.
"No. He was taken as a baby. Your origin hits close to home." Gobber answered and Koll hated himself for that joke.
"Sorry, I didn't know." Koll apologize.
"Don't be. You didn't know and you weren't the cowards who took her baby." Gobber reassured and Koll kept eating in silence. "Wonder what your family is like?"
"Always." Koll replied. "I imagine my real father as a great warrior who leads good men into battle. My mother is a smart woman who can do anything. Fish, hunt, fight. Anything."
"Siblings?" Gobber asked and the Rider smiled.
"Yeah a little brother and an older sister. One to help teach me about life and one to help grow up to be a good man." Koll answered and Gobber smirked.
"You're definitely a strange one Koll, but a good one." Gobber remarked before raising his hook. "But if you hurt Berk or the Haddocks and I'll gut you like a fish."
"Message received." Koll replied before finishing his jerky. Gobber lowered the hook hand. "What was Chieftess Valka's son name?"
"Hiccup." Gobber answered and Koll chuckled.
"Really? Hiccup?" Koll asked and he received a glare.
"Don't make me throw you off that cliff over there." Gobber remarked and Koll was silent.
Next Morning
Valka fell asleep in her chair with Frida in her arms. When she woke up, the young child was still asleep covered in a fur blanket that Stoick must have put on them. The mother moved the blanket and held her daughter until they got to the little child's bed. Valka lay the child softly on the bed before kissing her forehead. She walked out and heard a knock on the door. Valka rushed over and opened it to see Gobber's friendly face. "How's Koll?"
"Oh he's vast asleep in the woods. The Twins took over the morning watch." Gobber answered as Stoick arrived.
"Did he tell you anything last night?" Stoick asked wanting to know more about the stranger.
"Oh yes, he has blacksmith experience because he made that saddle and tail, he has a way with dragons, and he imagines what his family is like." Gobber answered.
"I hope he finds them." Valka remarked and Gobber.
"Aye. Even a fool who befriends beasts should know where he came from." Stoick added. "Good work Gobber. Hopefully Astrid can get more this afternoon."
"Come visit again Gobber." Valka remarked earning a smile from Gobber. She closed the door to face Stoick. "You really don't trust him."
"He rides a dragon. Never trust a man who rides a dragon." Stoick replied earning a glaring eye. "What? He just showed up out of the blue and you are defending him."
"He could give us peace with dragons. I always want that. Hiccup needed that." Valka said remembering that day all too clearly. Dragons began their raid. Stoick went out to chop off heads and Valka went off to try to make peace. If there was peace they would have been home to protect Hiccup. But he was taken during the raids. No evidence of dragons. Just cowards. Stoick gently put his hands on his wife's shoulder.
"I know how you feel. It's the only reason why Koll isn't dead yet." he replied before giving her a gentle kiss.
Elsewhere
When Koll woke up, he heard Toothless growl. The Rider rushed out of the tent to find two blondes holding axes. Koll put his palm on his forehead knowing that this would happen. Some new guards will come and be idiots. "Put the axes down. Toothless doesn't like strangers with weapons."
"Then what will we do when it attacks? Ask it to not rip us apart?" the man asked.
"Yes." Koll answered and the woman laughed. But stopped when seeing Koll's serious face.
"Wait really?" she asked surprised.
"Yeah. Dragons aren't the monsters most people think they are." Koll replied as he pet Toothless showing the dragon's kind side.
"Okay, no offense, but we don't trust it." the woman remarked.
"Of course not." Koll replied. "So ready for breakfast?"
"Yeah, your dragon isn't allowed in the village." the woman added.
"Okay that's fair. Dragons are seen as monsters so I understand why no one like him yet." Koll said as the three humans walked to the village. "Don't worry bud. I'll bring back a basket of fish for you." Koll added and the dragon jumped around the camp. "So what are your two names?"
"I'm Tuffnut and that is Ruffnut." Tuffnut answered.
"And we're the most mischievous Twins on the island of Berk." Ruffnut added.
"Ah. So I'm guessing you two work as a team?" Koll asked.
"More or less." Ruffnut answered.
"Yeah, sometimes we get the job done, but thanks to someone we always get into trouble." Tuffnut added and Ruffnut punched his face.
"I don't get us into trouble." Ruffnut remarked and Tuffnut laughed.
"Oh yes you do." Tuffnut replied.
"Remember when we tried to dye Mildew's sheep's fur. He caught us because you tried to dye the sheep in his house." Ruffnut remarked.
"Yes I did do that but that is one time." Tuffnut replied.
"How about putting eels in Astrid's bath, or the time we switched Gobber's swords with weaker ones."
"Yeah we shouldn't have asked him to make those swords." Tuffnut replied rubbing his chin.
"Or the time you forgot the boat after we pranked Snoutlout." Ruffnut added and Tuffnut put his arm over his sister.
"Okay I get it. I make mistakes, but there are plenty of successes." Tuffnut remarked.
"As much as I like to hear those stories, I would like to enjoy my day." Koll interrupted as they reached the village. The villagers glared at Koll for having a dragon.
When Koll entered the Great Hall. Stoick eyed the man. So much was going through his mind. The Chief has only seen a dragon controlled by a man once. Which ended in the death of many Chiefs. So seeing this man having power over a Night Fury, he knew to watch the boy carefully. The Twins discussed loudly of their many pranks while the Rider ate. Valka and Frida arrived making Stoick smile. The Chief watched as his daughter played with her toys of a Deadly Nadder and Monstrous Nightmare. Frida was the most important person in his life. Because he promised when she was born, to never let any harm touch her. That he fail like his did her older brother Hiccup.
"Anyways, what kind of mischief did you do back where you came from?" Tuffnut asked and Ruffnut punched his arm hard. "What?"
"Don't you remember why he's here?" Ruffnut whispered loudly to her brother.
"Don't worry Ruffnut, I can answer the question and most of the things I did back at the Stronghold were an accident really." Koll replied before eating some of whatever the cooks made.
"Which was?" Tuffnut asked.
"When I was ten, I was testing a new invention to help me escape, but I accidentally burned down a Longship." Koll answered and the Twins laughed.
"We've done something similar before. Did not go well. Ended up cleaning the Arena for a month." Ruffnut remarked.
"Lucky you." Koll replied and the Twins went silent as well as the Vikings who were listening. Koll was beaten for his mistake. While other times, Drago tormented him with the key to his family. A key now lost.
"Well at least you escaped. That's a plus." Tuffnut tried to reassure the Dragon Rider. It helped a little, but the reason why he left is gone.
That Afternoon
After the Twin's tour of Berk, Koll was greeted by Astrid at the Forge. The Twins left to cause chaos and Astrid escorted him back to the Great Hall for a meeting with the Chief. As they walked, he wondered how he could convince the villagers that dragons aren't monsters. Just creatures who are like humans. When he entered the Great Hall, only a few Vikings were gathered around a table. Stoick and Gobber along with another Viking. When Koll arrived the only friendly face was Gobber.
"Tell us Koll. How can you control that Night Fury?" Chief Stoick asked.
"I don't control Toothless. He lets me ride on him. We're friends." Koll replied and the unknown Viking laughed.
"You can't be friends with a dragon." the Viking asked.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I learned your name." Koll replied.
"Spitelout and don't you forget it." the man answered.
"Well Spitelout. Me and Toothless are best friends. That's why he protected me when you guys surrounded him. That's the biggest difference between control and the loyalty of a dragon." Koll remarked and the Vikings looked at each other.
"So I assumed you know how to help us without that Dragon?" Stoick asked and Koll nodded.
"I learned that Dragons don't like eels." Koll answered.
"Eels?" Gobber asked.
"Yeah, they hate it. After I discovered it with Toothless, I tested my theory on other captured dragons and was proven right." Koll replied.
"I would never have thought of that." Gobber admitted.
"Aye. But how would we use these eels?" Stoick asked glaring down at Koll.
"Simple. We place eels on the roofs of your buildings to keep the dragons from them." Koll answered and Spitelout laughed.
"Good luck getting the village to put eels on their roofs." Spitelout remarked.
"Anything else?" Stoick asked.
"No, that is all the weakness I learned." Koll replied. "But I do believe that if your village tries, they can earn a dragon's loyalty."
"You want us to ride dragons?" Gobber asked before laughing. He stopped seeing that Koll was serious. "Wait really?"
"These dragons don't go on raids like what I've been told. Which means that there is an Alpha at their nest demanding them to raid you home." Koll replied and the Vikings raised their eyebrows.
"Alpha?" Stoick asked.
"A Bewilderbeast. A massive dragon that can control any dragon and fire blasts of ice. My adoptive father has one and is trying to beat it into submission. How successful he is, I do not know. But no dragon is immune to it's power." Koll replied to see worried faces.
"As for the eels, your and Astrid can find volunteers while the Council discusses your Dragon Riding idea." Stoick ordered and Astrid escorted Koll out of the Great Hall.
"So where do we begin?" Koll asked as they exited the Hall.
"Shut up and walk." Astrid ordered and Koll followed the order.
"You don't think his adoptive father is Drago do you?" Gobber asked Stoick once the boy was gone.
"I don't know, but if he is the son of Drago then we can not trust him." Stoick answered remember what Drago did to the Chiefs.
