Two Days Later

When it was announced that Koll would get a small hut, the Dragon Riders managed to turn a month or two of work into a few days. Furthering the proof that Dragons aren't destructive monsters. But that wasn't all that Koll did in the many days he's been here. The young man made a new fire suppression system for the huts to replace smelly eels on roofs. He was going to present the designs to Stoick that afternoon after the completion of Koll's roof. Being accepted on Berk meant so much to him. For the first time in his life, he felt like he belongs somewhere. As he, Gobber, Fishlegs, Gustav, and the Twins nailed the roof tiles to the hut, Koll saw Astrid and Stormfly land nearby.

"Hello Dragon Riders." Astrid greeted.

"I'm not a Dragon Rider lass." Gobber corrected and Astrid smiled.

"Sorry Gobber." she replied.

"What brings you here anyways lass? I thought you were going fishing with your folks?" Gobber asked as she got off the Deadly Nadder.

"Boats damaged from rough seas." Astrid answered and the Twins giggled. Koll knew those two must have had a hand in the damage. Gobber gave them a glare.

"I see. Well we're almost done here. Want to help?" Gobber asked and Astrid nodded. She climbed up the ladder and began to hammer the nails.

"So what are you going to do after you finish teaching us Dragon Riding?" Astrid asked Koll and he sighed.

"Probably try to find my family. But with nothing this time. With a little luck, I might be able to find them." Koll answered.

"Will you come and visit?" Gustav asked.

"Of course. I can't let a nice house like this go to waste. Besides, Toothless likes it here." Koll answered the Night Fury played with the other dragons. The others laughed.

"Well if you do find your family, we'll understand if you stay with them. A man needs a family to support him." Gobber remarked and Koll's mind went back to his lost family.

One Day

"Good job." Koll remarked after Astrid built the second fire suppression system in the village. She volunteered to help him after most of Berk had to work on the fields, flocks, and boats. Koll taught her how to put the systems together at the Chief's home. Now they were building one for Astrid's home. She climbed down and punched his shoulder.

"Told you I could do it." she remarked as he rubbed his arm.

"I had no doubt." Koll replied and Astrid laughed.

"Except that look you gave when explaining the pulleys." she added and Koll just shrugged.

"Well that is the key part and most difficult part of the system." he replied.

"Well I guess it's time to split up and set these things up." Astrid remarked and Koll nodded. The two grabbed their tools and put them on different wheelbarrows with all of the parts. Koll went to the East side of the Village while Astrid went to the West.

Valka held Frida in her arms tightly as they through the clouds on Cloudjumper. The mother and daughter enjoyed the flight. Stoick didn't like it but he couldn't argue with the two most stubborn women in his life. Valka looked at her daughter to see a great smiling face. The smile filled Valka with warmth. The mother wished she could show both of her children this joy, but she can't. Koll gave her a gift and she will both cherish that gift and use it to help expand the search for Hiccup. As they flew, Valka will remember every moment of this flight.

That Evening

When Koll put the tools in the Forge, he saw Astrid arrive late. He smirked seeing that she still had parts. Astrid punched his arm after seeing his smirk and he rubbed his arm, he saw Valka and Frida land near the Great Hall on Cloudjumper. He was glad Berk was learning to be with dragons. Not with swords, but as friends. He remembered how Drago made his dragons obey. Not with loyalty, but with fear and fists. He hated every day back at the stronghold. This place, Berk was a nice welcoming. As Koll and Astrid walked to the Great Hall, the dragons followed close behind.

"So want to help me finish up the last of the systems tomorrow?" Koll asked and Astrid punched his arm. "What is with you and punching?"

"No. Once I start something, I finish it. And don't be a jerk, then you won't get a punch." she answered with a smile.

"Why not ask to not be a jerk? It'll save me on the bruises." he added.

"Then you might not remember." she answered and Koll knew it was no use trying to change her mind. "Tomorrow you should relax. Fly all day. Find something new."

"Okay I will, but if you need help, I will help." Koll replied and Astrid gave him a glare. "Or I won't."

"That's better." Astrid remarked as they walked up the steps to the Great Hall.

One Day Later

Astrid had started working early this morning. She was greeted by many of her friends as she worked. None dared try to help, knowing Astrid prepare to finish her tasks by herself. A trait she earned living on Berk. As she got to a Jorgenson hut, she looked at the spot where she first saw Koll and met Toothless. The dirt had settled down since their first meeting, but she will never forget that eventful day. When Astrid sat the wheelbarrow down, the wheel broke, sending all the parts onto the dirt. Frustrated, Astrid broke the legs of the wheelbarrow leaving just the tray and handles. She was going to tie rope around the handles and pull it like a sled. But for now, she was picking up the tools and parts. As she picked up a hammer, she saw something glittering in some grass. Astrid reached over and grabbed a small object. She looked at it to see the Crest of House Haddock. One of the Haddocks must have dropped this at some point. Astrid put it in the wheelbarrow planning to return it to the Chief later or when she sees them.

Elsewhere

Koll and Toothless flew around the ocean performing fast and tight maneuvers. Koll made some modifications to the tail early that morning. They went up high in the sky and Koll set the tail fin for the new setting. The Rider and Dragon looked at each other and nodded. Koll jumped off the dragon and Toothless dove down next to the Rider. The two went down side by side. Toothless's paw touched Koll's shoulder and the Rider was spinning in circles. He smiled at the joy and freedom this brought. As the ocean surface came closer, Koll grabbed the saddle and hook back on, before the two swooped up flying fast a few meters above the water. Then they began to gain attitude and let the wind blow against them in peace.

"Hello there." Valka greeted and both Koll and Toothless turned their heads to see Valka and Frida enjoying flying on Cloudjumper's back, while a scared Chief Stoick lay on the back trying not to fall off.

"I see someone couldn't say no." Koll joked earning laughs from the two women and a glare from the Chief. "So what brings the Chief, Chieftess, and the heir out here?"

"A picnic." Valka answered.

"Want to join us?" Frida asked surprising both parents.

"I don't want to intrude." Koll replied.

"Don't worry. Frida has a mind of her own, just like Val and she won't give up without a fight." Stoick remarked and the Chieftess nodded.

"Okay then."

Later

Koll had enjoyed the picnic with the Chief's family. He got to see a side of Stoick he never imagined before. The man wasn't in his usual stern yet understanding mood. He was enjoying playing Dragons with her. Koll wished he had that. A father who enjoys being with them. A feeling that was robbed from him by Drago. Valka put her hand on his shoulder as he watched. He looked to see understanding. Her son was robbed from her and never got to see his firsts.

"How are you feeling Koll?" Valka asked and Koll just shrugged.

"Fine." he lied.

"You see a caring family and wished it for yourself. Anyone can understand that." she replied and Koll just sighed.

"Have you ever wondered what your son would be like if you ever found him?" Koll asked and Valka nodded.

"I think of it every day. But if you are any indication, I believe Hiccup would have turned out well." Valka answered and the Rider hoped that the caring Chieftess will find her lost son.

When Astrid returned to the Forge, Gobber was making a new axe. The woman put the tools on a bench leaving the old blacksmith be. But as she started to leave, she remembered the medallion with the Chief's crest. Astrid grabbed it and waited for Gobber to have a moment. When he was done with the metal blade, Gobber turned to Astrid. "What is it lass? I would have thought you head back home after getting done with Koll's inventions."

"Yeah, well I found something that belongs to the Chief and I was wondering if you could take it to him. I haven't seen him all day." Astrid replied and Gobber nodded.

"He's out on a picnic with his family. But I'll see that he gets it." Gobber remarked and Astrid smiled as she handed it to Gobber. She was surprised to see his eyes widen. The blacksmith examined the medallion and nearly fell backward. Astrid got to his side to keep his up straight.

"Are you alright Gobber?" Astrid asked as Gobber got to his feet. He turned to her.

"Where did you find this?"
