Later
Stoick and his family landed at their house to find Gobber sitting on their porch. The Chief could tell that there was something on the blacksmith's mind. Stoick helped Gobber up while Valka took Frida inside. "What is it old friend?"
"We should take this inside." Gobber remarked making Stoick more concerned. When they entered the hut Valka sent Frida to her room.
"What's going on?" Valka asked as Stoick reached her side. The Chief turned to Gobber.
"What's with the secrecy?" Stoick asked and Gobber handed the Chief a medallion. His eyes widen knowing who it belongs to. Valka covered her mouth from shock. "Where did you find this Gobber?"
"Astrid found it. Near where Koll and Toothless crashed." Gobber answered and Stoick turned to see HHHIII on the back. It was indeed Hiccup's. The Chief sat down before his legs collapsed from the shock. Valka gently grabbed the medallion with tears falling.
"Bring Koll here. We need to get to the bottom of this." Stoick ordered keeping the tears back. Gobber nodded before leaving the parents.
"He's been here and we didn't even know it." Valka whispered as she sat down. Hiccup was alive and he crashed on his home by mere luck.
Elsewhere
Koll was building a new table for himself while Toothless slept on the wooden floor. This was his home for now and he was going to make sure that it was livable. The island of Berk has given him so much and he gave them the gift of peace as well as flight. He wanted to learn how to live on Berk in peace. When someone knocked on his door, Toothless raised his head. Koll walked to the door and opened it to find Gobber standing nervously. "Hey Gobber. What's going on?"
"Chief needs you." Gobber replied before walking away like he saw a ghost. Koll wondered what was going on. Hiccup jumped onto Toothless's saddle and they launched into the air and glided down to the Chief's home. The Rider got off the dragon and Toothless tried to play with Cloudjumper. Koll knocked on the door and moments later, Stoick opened the door. Koll saw a grim face on the Chief. Much different than what he saw hours before.
"Come inside." Stoick ordered before disappearing into the house. Koll entered and closed the door behind him. Valka was sitting at the table, staring at him with sad and hopeful eyes. Stoick sat next to his wife. "Sit." the Chief ordered and Koll sat in front of them.
"Did I do something wrong?" Koll asked concerned.
"No no. Just wanted to show you something." Stoick answered before handing the Rider a small wooden box. Koll's eyes widen with shock after seeing the crest. It was the same crest on the medallion. He may have not got the best look at the medallion, but he recognized the symbol.
"That's the same creat that's on my medallion." Koll remarked before bringing the box closer. It was locked so he just looked at the Chief and Chieftess. Stoick revealed the medallion from his pocket and handed it to Koll. The key to his family was back in his hands. It was clear that the Chief knew who crest this belonged to. He looked to see tears in Valka's eyes.
"Gobber made that medallion years ago for me to give to my son." Stoick replied and Koll's heart sunk. Valka got up and walked over to Koll. The Rider stood up and the woman hugged him.
"Oh Hiccup." she said and Koll hugged her back. After so many years of wondering and hope, he finally found his family. His real family. His eyes began to tear up after hugging his mother for the first time.
That Evening
Astrid and the others waited for the Chief's big news. No one knew what the Chief had learned, but there were rumors. Astrid paid little attention to those rumors. Her mind was distracted on Gobber. When she gave him the medallion, the smiling personality everyone on Berk enjoyed faded into fear. She has never seen Gobber scared of anything before. So seeing him next to Stoick waiting for all of Berk to enter, made her wonder. Today was different. Usually, only Stoick and his family along with Gobber were at the main table. But Koll was next to Frida. She was enjoying her dragon and Viking toys while Koll looked nervous. He has been a star among Berk, but that isn't a reason for him to be at that table. Astrid just drank some mead while wondering. Minutes later, the Chief stood up and the Hall went silent.
"Today I have received great news. Koll's medallion was found today and we were able to find out who his family is." the Chief said to the Vikings and many were on the edge of their seats wanting to hear who Koll belonged to since there have been many kidnappings along the Archipelago, but Astrid realized who he was when she heard the word medallion. "Tonight we celebrate the return of my lost son, Hiccup!" the Chief added with joy and Berk broke into cheers. This whole time Hiccup has walked among them and they never realized it. Hiccup became the talk of the village during the feast. Astrid should have realized it sooner. But she ate yak as she watched Stoick and Gobber laugh. Valka moved in between her two children and hugged them both. Astrid smiled seeing the Chieftess happier than ever before. Today had to be the best day for Valka. When the feast drew to a close, Astrid walked out of the Hall like nothing happened. But someone grabbed her arm. As she turned to punch their face, she saw that it was Hiccup. She stopped before the punch came.
"Okay not going to do that again." Hiccup remarked as he lowered his arms.
"Sorry, thought you might have been Snoutlout." Astrid replied and Hiccup chuckled.
"Yeah. Anyways I wanted to thank you." Hiccup remarked and Astrid raised an eyebrow. "For finding my medallion."
"Oh that. It was nothing. Didn't even know it was yours." Astrid replied and silence followed.
"I better go better go before Dad calls for a search party." Hiccup remarked and he chuckled. "Never going to get use to that."
"Nore will I." Astrid replied before Hiccup ran off to be with his family.
Next Morning
Hiccup woke up the next morning in his bed in his family's home. Yesterday his name was Koll, but now he knows who he is. He is Hiccup Haddock. Son of Stoick the Vast and Valka. The Lost Son of Berk. He got up and ready for the day knowing he was going to face a new world. As he climbed downstairs he wonder what he should do. He wasn't used to the idea of a family. Everything was so foreign to him. When he reach the main room, Frida was already awake and playing with her toys on the floor. Hiccup took a deep breath and sat down next to her. "Hey. What are you playing?"
"Dragon Riders." Frida answered as she put a wooden Viking on a Monstrous Nightmare pretending to fly. Hiccup smiled seeing that she was missing several dragons. A thought came into his head. "Want to play?"
"Yeah." Hiccup replied and his little sister handed him a Deadly Nadder and a Viking. The two imagined a battle between the Riders and Dragon Hunters.
Valka smiled hearing her children playing together. She always wanted her son to return home and now he's here. Being a big brother to his sister. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Stoick walked behind her and wiped the tears from her cheeks. He hugged her and the mother felt whole again. The last time she felt like this was when Hiccup was home. Before he was taken by cowards. Valka had her family together under one roof. Her world was whole.
Later
Hiccup was carving out a log to form a wooden Night Fury. After breakfast with his family and a morning flight with his mom, Hiccup decided to start on his new project. He was planning to create several of these toys for his sister. He chose to start with the dragon that saved Hiccup. As he carved the wood, he heard someone walking behind him. Hiccup turned to see Gobber waving at him. The Rider waved back and Gobber sat next to the young Haddock. "Good to see you again Gobber."
"Aye. Good to see you. What is ya working on there?" Gobber asked and Hiccup smiled.
"A Night Fury toy for Frida." Hiccup answered and the blacksmith nodded.
"Good choice." Gobber remarked.
"Thanks for helping me understand what was going on in Berk. I would not have survived if it weren't for you." Hiccup replied and the Gobber chuckled.
"I'm just glad I didn't throw you off that cliff." Gobber remarked and both men laughed remembering how Hiccup reacted to his name unknowingly.
Two Days Later
"Relax and let him come to you." Hiccup said to his father as the Viking Chief tried to bond with a Monstrous Nightmare. Stoick had his hand out and the village watched as the father and son tried to tame the wild dragon that attacked their village. Stoick had fought the dragon and managed to capture it. After it, Stoick asked Hiccup to help him train this dragon because of the Nightmare's fighting spirit. Hiccup was both worried and proud that his father trusted him to help train a dragon. Now he was going to see if a bond could be made. Toothless was on standby in case things go South. But when the Monstrous Nightmare put it's snout against the Chief's hand, both father and son smiled, while the rest of Berk cheered. The Chief hugged his son before petting the dragon. Hiccup saw his mom watching with glee and his sister playing with a toy Night Fury and Razorwhip. Seeing the both of them happy made Hiccup fill complete. He had a family and he swore to protect them with all his might.
