One Week Later
Hiccup was loading Toothless's saddle with supplies and rations for a family trip. Stoick and Valka had planned on this trip if they ever found Hiccup. Now that the Dragon Rider was home, his family was going to go away for a camping trip. The adults would have their dragons while Frida flies with Stoick and Hellwing. Hiccup listened as she tried to argue for her own dragon. But neither parent was budging. Gobber walked behind Hiccup and the Rider turned to the old blacksmith. "Got everything you need?"
"Yeah. Think you can handle the village while we're gone?" Hiccup asked.
"Same as we do when he goes out searching for the Dragon's Nest and Chief meetings." Gobber answered as Stoick put Frida on Hellwing's saddle.
"Ready to go Hiccup." Valka asked as Cloudjumper helped her onto the dragon.
"Yeah. I just talking to Gobber." Hiccup answered as he got onto Toothless's saddle. The family launched into the sky to enjoy a week away from Berk. A week of them together.
Later
"Land there." Stoick ordered as the family found an island. The Chief pointed towards the beach and the Haddocks glided down. Hiccup smiled hearing Frida's yell of joy. When they landed, Frida immediately waited for Stoick to unload her toys. Hiccup and Valka unloaded the camp supplies while Frida played Dragon Rider with her toys. Stoick walked to the nearby woods to collect wood for a fire. When Valka put a crate of food off of Hellwing, Hiccup's sword fell. He made it a few days ago using old designs and inspiration. His mother picked it up and examined the unique design.
"Your skills are quite impressive." Valka remarked as she handed the sword to Hiccup.
"Yeah. It's just something I wanted to build for years but never got to until I got to Berk." Hiccup remarked as he put the blade on the saddle.
"I'm happy you can be you." Valka replied before hugging her son. Hiccup hugged her in return. This last week has been the best in his life. He had a family. Not Drago and his army.
Next Morning
Hiccup woke up before the sun rose. He walked outside of his tent to find a Triple Stryke toy in the sand outside of his tent. Hiccup picked it up remembering how Drago threw him in a cage with one of these. Hiccup was lucky there was a weak board he used to escape out of the cage. If there wasn't Hiccup would have been killed and never learned the truth. The Rider put the toy outside of Frida's tent before gathering wood to start a new fire. When the wood was placed on top of each other, Hiccup poured a jar of Monstrous Nightmare Gel on the wood before lighting it. A fire blazed immediately and Hiccup stared at the flames. He remembered the villages and ships that burned because they refused to serve the madman or disrespected him. The suffering he couldn't stop.
"What's for breakfast?" Frida asked behind Hiccup. The young man turned to see his sister wiping her eyes tired.
"Fish I think." Hiccup answered before Frida sat next to him. The little sister hugged him and Hiccup hugged her.
"You won't leave again. Will you?" Frida asked and Hiccup hugged her tighter.
"I will never leave you or Mom and Dad again." Hiccup answered comforting his sister. "And if anyone tries to separate me from you, they'll have to face a united Haddock family and our dragons."
"Toothless alone would be horrifying any Viking. He and two others will make anyone think twice." Frida replied enthusiastically and Hiccup chuckled.
"That's right." Hiccup remarked and the sun began to rise on the horizon.
Later
Hiccup flew on Toothless with Frida. They flew into the clouds at high speeds and performed small tricks much to the enjoyment of Frida. Hiccup pointed down to a school of Thunderdrums splashing against the waves and then went for a dive. Soon they were mere meters from the dragons. Frida wanted to touch one, but Hiccup said they were wild dragons. They may not be aggressive, but it would be wise not to disturb them. When the island came into view, Hiccup saw something strange. He pulled back in unison with Toothless. The Rider grabbed his spyglass to see a boat anchored close to the island. Fear sunk in his stomach as he recognized the sails as Dragon Trappers. Trappers who sided with Drago. Hiccup lowered the spyglass before the three of them flew high above.
"What's wrong?" Frida asked with fear. Hiccup gave her a hug.
"Don't worry, just taking a scenic route." Hiccup replied trying to treasure his sister. Toothless glided down to where their family made camp. When they landed, Hiccup saw his parents making lunch.
"Ah just in time I see." Stoick remarked as Hiccup let Frida down.
"We have a problem. There is a ship on the other side of the island, I recognized from my past." Hiccup replied and both parents looked at each other knowing what he means.
"Val take Frida home and ready our defenses. Me and Hiccup will make sure these Vikings never leave this island." Stoick ordered and Valka picked up Frida before Cloudjumper helped them both up onto his back. Stoick climbed onto Hellwing and followed Hiccup. They landed on a cliff overseeing the beach and ship. Both men grabbed their spyglasses to see a small crew getting ready to land on the island. "What's the plan?"
"Why are you asking me?" Hiccup asked knowing his Dad was a warrior who had seen more battles than Hiccup.
"You know these people better than me. You know their strengths and weakness. I don't." Stoick answered and Hiccup felt both pride in the trust his father had and fear knowing that he could fail.
"These are Dragon Trappers. Their weapons are designed to trap, not kill immediately. But they can seriously injure our dragons." Hiccup remarked pointing at the large crossbows attached to the deck. "But they aren't soldiers. They trap for money and out of fear of my." Hiccup didn't finish not knowing what to properly call Drago and knowing the infamous reputation of the madman. Stoick put his hand on Hiccup's shoulder. "They fear the man who took me from you and mom. His name is Drago Bludvist. I don't know if you heard of him, but if you did I want you to know that I hate the man with every fiber in my body. He may have raised me, but he nearly killed me dozens of times. I want to see everything he ever built burn for taking me away from our family."
"I have heard of him and I survived his attack before. When you arrived with control of your dragon, I thought Drago could have raised you and worried you may just be a spy. Then I found the medallion. Those fears disappeared because I know my son would never bow before a man like him. Our blood is too strong for that." Stoick reassured and Hiccup hugged his father. When the hug ended, they faced the ship once more.
"We need to strike fast. Toothless and I will blast the hull gaining their attention. You and Hellwing will fly in and force them to surrender." Hiccup remarked and the father nodded. Hiccup and Toothless jumped off the cliff creating the iconic Night Fury whistle. The Trappers ducked and Toothless fired a single shot at the lower hull beginning the flooding. When the two swooped up, the Trappers fired arrows in vain. The two dodged in unison and this time, suffering from no wounds. When the arrows ceased, they turned back to find that Stoick has captured the vessel. As the two landed on the ship's deck, Hiccup saw a familiar face. "Eret, son of Eret. Been a while."
"Koll. It has been far too long." Eret replied.
"You know this man?" Stoick asked his son.
"Yes. This is one of the few people who I actually got along with during my time with Drago." Hiccup answered before turning to Eret. "And the name is Hiccup."
"So you found your family. Congratulations." Eret replied.
"What are you doing so far from your fort. Last I checked, Drago is North." Hiccup remarked and Eret chuckled.
"Things have changed in the Northern Alliance Hiccup. When it was discovered that the adoptive son of Drago hid a Night Fury under his nose and escaped the fleet, many Trappers began leaving. The Grimborns fled Southeast while the Trappers split apart." Eret replied. "I was actually looking for you to warn you that Drago is preparing to move the armada to find you and punish you."
"That's not going to be easy. I have a family, a village, and a bond that can't be broken. Nothing that Drago has can withstand what I got." Hiccup remarked.
"He broke the Bewilderbeast. It's under his control." Eret replied and Hiccup was shocked. If the Bewilderbeast was truly under Drago's control, then the world was under threat.
"Can your repair your ship?" Hiccup asked earning a look from Stoick.
"Yes, but it would be helpful if your dragons can hold the ship above the water line." Eret answered and Hiccup nodded. Stoick sighed as they helped the Trappers get their ship repaired.
"What are you thinking son?" Stoick asked concerned and Hiccup turned to his father.
"If Drago has control of the Bewilderbeast, then he'll attack the Alpha at the mountain. Gaining control of all Dragons. He'll be unstoppable." Hiccup replied and Stoick nodded. When the repairs were finished, the two Riders flew straight home.
