Hello! So I wrote this because I was bored and had nothing to do lol, it's a mix of serious and crack-ish.

Update: It seems I need to make this clear, this fic was written purely for my amusement and to give me something to do. It wasn't written to be serious or to be taken as such. Izuku does not have OFA and he will not be getting OFA. His quirk may have basis in the Harry Potter series but it is not the same replica of Harry Potter. If you don't like the story, that is 100% understandable as everyone has their preferred taste, but in that case just don't read it.

Izuku fell in love with Harry Potter when he was 3 years old, just a few months shy of his 4th birthday. He had been playing in his mom's closet, going through her old action figures and toys when he found an old looking book with a boy on a broom on the cover. He couldn't read what it said, but it looked very cool, so he picked up the book and scuttled out of the closet, running over to his mom who was sitting in front of her mirror as she got ready for work.

"Mom! What's this?" His mother glanced over at him and the book he was holding, a smile crossing her face as she saw what it was.

"Oh, that's a book that my mom gave to me when I was little. She got it from her mom too, I really liked it as a kid."

"What's it about?" Izuku tilted his head to the side, holding the book forward a little more as if willing his mother to remember. She gave him a big smile and then glanced around, eyes checking to make sure no one was around before she leaned forward and whispered to him,

"Magic." Izuku's eyes went wide as his mother put a finger over her lips as if telling him to be quiet when he spoke.

"Magic? It's real?" He whispered back to her, clutching the book to his chest. His mom reached out and ruffled his hair, giving him a wink.

"How about we read this for bedtime and I'll let you decide. We'll start tonight when mommy gets back from work okay? In the meantime go and get dressed so I can drop you off over Auntie Mitsuki's." Izuku was gone before she was able to say anything else, gripping the book tight as he ran to his room. He had to show the book to Kacchan- but only after he got to find out if magic was real for himself. That night after Izuku was tucked into bed, his mother lovingly and carefully opened up the book and began reading to him in a hushed voice.

"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold with such nonsense." (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). Izuku ended up falling asleep halfway through the first chapter, but the interest was still there the next day and the day after that, thus starting the tradition of his mom reading him a chapter before he went to bed every night.

Izuku discovered his quirk two months after his fourth birthday, completely by accident. He was at Kacchan's house again (they had just got out of school but his mom didn't get off until late today, so Auntie Mitsuki was babysitting him), sitting in the backyard as he watched Kacchan make little sparks in his hands. Kacchan had gotten his quirk four months ago, a few weeks after his birthday had passed in April.

"Your quirk is so cool Kacchan! Do you think they'll be bigger explosions when you're older? Oh do you think you could fly with them? That would be really cool!"

"Shut up Izu!" Kacchan's cheeks were red and he glared at Izuku, but Izuku ignored it knowing that Kacchan didn't really mean it. "Anyway, when are you getting your quirk? It should be soon right?" Izuku shrugged, playing with the hem of his shirt.

"Mommy took me to the doctor and they said I didn't have the toe joint so I'm not quirkless but he doesn't know what my quirk is gonna be. I kind of hope that it's like Harry's in the book, magic is so cool!"

"You're not going to have magic as a quirk dummy, it's similar to what your parents have. Auntie has a levitation quirk so maybe you'll have something like that." For some reason, Kacchan's words made him mad. He could have magic as a quirk!

"I can have magic as a quirk!" He stuck his tongue out causing Kacchan to recoil in shock. The blonde haired boy curled his hands into fists, sticking his tongue back out at Izuku.

"Cannot!"

"Can too!"

"Cannot!"

"Can too!"

"Then prove it, stupid!"

"Fine, I will!" Izuku got up off the grass and stormed over to Katsuki, holding his hand out but suddenly hesitating. "I don't know what spell to cast." Katsuki rolled his eyes at him and folded his arms over his chest.

"Do the stupid light one, that's one, right?" Kacchan didn't know Harry Potter as well as Izuku did because he only heard the chapters that Izuku's mom read when he spent the night. He didn't know a lot of spells, but he remembered some.

"Oh yeah, okay!" Izuku focused on his hand, imagining a round sphere of light forming in it. He furrowed his eyebrows as nothing happened but then remembered he didn't say the spell name. "Lumos!" He whispered. For a second, nothing happened and he began to lower his hand but then Kacchan gasped and Izuku looked to see a tiny ball of light sitting on the tip of his pointer finger. "It…worked?" Izuku said, confused, mentally willing the light to get a little bigger. It took a second but then the light followed his instructions, growing the smallest amount. "It worked! Kacchan, Kacchan I have a quirk! I can do magic!"

"Here! They have a levitation spell right? Do that one, hurry up Izu!" Katsuki had ran and grabbed a rock from Aunt Mitsuki's garden, setting it on the ground right in front of Izuku. Izuku went to start the spell but then remembered he still had to turn the light off. He scoured his head for the spell to turn it off, knowing it started with an N but unable to remember the rest of it.

"Kacchan, I don't know how to turn the light off." He whispered, still staring at the light.
"Can you ask Aunt Mitsuki to search it up?" Kacchan took off without a word and Izuku heard him yelling at Auntie for something. He was gone for a while, but when he came back he shouted "Nox" at Izuku.

"Okay, nox!" He imagined the light shutting off and it did, bringing a wide grin to Izuku's face. "I'm gonna try to levitate the rock now!" He remembered that in the books they had to swish and flick their wands, but since Izuku wasn't using a wand he shouldn't have to do the movement right? He pointed at the rock and said the spell, frowning when nothing moved. "It didn't work." He said, disappointed.

"Try it again, you just got it so you have to practice. Now hurry up!" Izuku huffed at Kacchan's impatience but decided to give it another go. Kacchan was right, if they wanted to be heroes then they would have to practice really hard with their quirks.

"Okay, swish and flick, swish and flick… Win-gar-dee-um leh-vee-oh-sa" He carefully sounded the word out, moving his wrist to the side and then flicking it up. Slowly but surely the rock began to rise, only hovering an inch or so above the ground but Izuku let it drop back down, sweat beading on his brows. A gasp from inside had both Katsuki and Izuku turning around to see Auntie Mitsuki standing there with her hands on her hips.

"Izu, you got your quirk! Wait til I tell Inko" She disappeared back into the house yelling for Uncle Marasu and a wide smile stretched across Izuku's face.

"Kacchan, Kacchan, we can be heroes together now!" He held out his hand to his best friend and the other boy took it without hesitation, giving him a grin.

"The best heroes! You better learn more spells, Izu."

"I will!"

Self Quirk Analysis #5

July 14th, 2XXX

The name of my quirk is Magic and right now I am 8 years old. Magic behaves similarly to the magic in Harry Potter with the main difference being that Magic does not require a conduit like a wand. Different spells take up different amounts of energy, performing Lumos doesn't cost any energy and only makes me a little tired if I keep it up for longer than a few hours. On the other hand doing Bombarda (explosion spell) makes me really tired and sometimes gives me a headache, I think that will go away with practice.

To use Magic I don't need to use the incantations like in Harry Potter but it is helpful for me to do it, I can cast lumos silently and I'm working on doing the others quietly, Kacchan mentioned that if someone saw me do the spell and shout the word they can figure out the effects. Using the Harry Potter unofficial book of spells that Mom gave me I've tried doing the different spells, Transfiguration gives me the most trouble and leaves me tired but charms are easier to do. It might have to do with the fact that I'm not learning them by level like they do in the books, but this is because I don't have a magical core so I can achieve them at different times. Mom thinks it'll get easier as I get older, but I'm going to keep practicing!

Spells I can do easily:

Lumos, aguamenti (do not do again until learning the drying charm! Trouble controlling the direction of the water), alohomora (mom says not to use this one unless I really need to because some doors are locked for a reason)

Spells that I can do once before getting really tired:

Bombarda (do not use in house!), stupefy, tarantallegra (a jinx, don't use on Kacchan it makes him want to explode people)

Spells I am practicing:

Episkey, protego, reparo, depulso, sonorus, rennervate

Self Quirk Analysis #36

October 27th, 2XXX

Name: Izuku Midoriya

Age: 10

Quirk: Magic. Magic has the ability to perform spells similarly to in Harry Potter (however it is not restricted to those spells. In some cases if I focus really hard on it, I can use a spell even if I don't know the incantation). It does not require the verbal pronunciation of the words but I must think about the spell I want and perform the proper movement to cast it. Magic is more of a mental quirk than a physical, it does not require strength in order to perform. However I still must strengthen my body as I want to become a hero. Magic can be used long range or in close combat situations (Lumos Maxima is a very good spell for when in close combat, stupefy is good for long range). I can perform spell chains if I use the end of one movement to start the next spell but it takes a lot of concentration to think about what spells could come next.) Overuse of quirk comes with extreme exhaustion, headache and in severe cases a nose bleed (do not try and use episkey after getting nose bleed, only makes it worse).

Spells I can perform easily:

Lumos (and lumos maxima), aguamenti, alohomora, stupefy, tarantallegra, episkey, protego, sonorus, rennervate (Kacchan was my unwilling subject for this, note to self buy him the newest hot sauce), sonnorus, quietus, finite incantatem

Spells I can perform with difficulty (control and aiming is the main issue):

Depulso, bombarda, expelliarmus, engorgio, incendio (mom says not to practice this one anymore unless I'm in a fireproof room, rip to my All Might poster).

Spells I am practicing:

Ferula, scourgify, immobulus, impervius, crinus muto (very hard as this is partial transfiguration which is still a tough spot, mom still doesn't know what happened to her mug)

Note to self: Find more efficient way to categorize spells known as I learn more, maybe stop adding them and just add difficulty and practicing

Another note to self: Kacchan thinks he might be able to do aerial moves, look in spellbook to see if there is a spell to help me fly. Maybe using a feather light charm on myself/ clothes combined with wingardium leviosa? Will experiment at later date

Name: Izuku Midoriya

Age: 12

Quirk: See table of contents, listed in entries #1-36

I was reading the Goblet of Fire (Mom only let me read it now that I am older since she said this is where the series started to get darker compared to the other books) and learned about the unforgivables (I had seen them in the spell book but never took interest). I won't ever use crucio or AK, but imperio may be useful for when I am a hero. It can be used to get people out of hostage situations or get people out of self placed harmful situations. I want to ask mom but I know she would say never to use it, I will talk it out with Kacchan and see what he thinks. Another new spell that I want to try is the port key spell, seems safer than trying to apparate (Mom made me promise not to do that until I go to hero school so that I have people to watch me try it).

Spells practicing: Incarcerous, Crinus Muto (I finally managed to change my entire head pink! Changing it back was an issue, Mom very upset), periculum (should have learned this one sooner), accio, herbivicus (to help out with mom's garden and apologize for accidentally making her cucumbers so big they exploded with engorgio)

"Yo, Deku, are you coming with us to the arcade after school?" Izuku looked up from his notebook he was writing in, noticing that Tsubasa was the one speaking to him. The nickname Deku had come about after Kacchan had misread the kanji in Izuku's name when they were 5. The other kids at school had started calling him that too and though it used to bother Izuku he didn't really mind it anymore as it had grown on him. Now that they were 14, it was more of an endearment than a tease.

"No sorry, I can't join you guys today. I have to go get some groceries for my mom, maybe I'll try to meet up with you guys after I drop them off?"

"Sounds good Deku, hope to see you later!" Tsubasa flew off, his wings flapping behind him as he went. Tsubasa wasn't really one of Izuku's friends but the boy was still really sweet and tried to include him in anything that Kacchan was also included in. Speaking of Kacchan, the boy was hanging by the door waiting for Izuku. Izuku got up and shoved his notebook into his bookbag, hiking the yellow bag onto his back and rushing to the door.

"Aren't you going to the arcade with Tsubasa and the others?" Kacchan had started walking the minute Izuku had grabbed his bookbag and he fell in step with him easily, absently adjusting his gakuran.

"Tch, I don't even want to hang out with those extras." Kacchan rolled his eyes but it wasn't a denial. Izuku let out a small sigh, smiling fondly.

"You can't call people extras Kacchan, Aunt Mitsuki talked to you about that."

"Fuck off Deku. Meet us at the arcade after you get those stupid groceries, Auntie isn't home until later anyway." Izuku was tempted to point out how sweet Katsuki was for knowing his mom's schedule, but Izuku knew that comment would get him an explosion to the face. Rather than point it out, he nodded and pushed his green hair out of his eyes.

"Okay Kacchan, see you there!" They parted at the school gates, Katsuki linking up with the others and Izuku heading in the direction of the konbini closest to the arcade, one that was about 4 streets over in the opposite direction. Rather than go under the overpass he would take if he was heading home, Izuku made a right and continued on to his destination. He cheerily waved at the cashier as he walked through the store, grabbing the ingredients that his mother had texted him to get. He paid and took his plastic bag, starting to walk in the direction of the arcade. Kacchan was right about his mom not getting home until later, she would be home at 7pm and it was only 5 right now. Izuku had about an hour and a half to kill before heading home. He was about 2 streets away from the arcade when an explosion shook the ground and smoke began billowing into the air. Unconsciously he found himself moving a bit faster, hoping to be able to catch whatever hero fight was going on. His fingers itched for his analysis notebook but he didn't grab it, instead rushing to the scene. The first heroes he saw were Kamui Woods and Mt Lady, then he saw Back Draft and Death Arms. With the exception of Back Draft who was putting out fires, the rest of the heroes were just standing there keeping the crowd back. Izuku pushed his way to the front, his short stature playing to his advantage as he came to a stop right behind the barricade. He saw a giant slimy figure that had to be the villain, but the fire didn't make sense. What was causing everything to burn?

"What's going on?" He asked one of the men next to him, a businessman from the look of him. The man glanced down at him with sympathy before looking back up.

"It looks like a kid is trapped in that villain, he has the same uniform on as you. Do you know him?" As soon as the uniform was mentioned, Izuku's heart froze. Another explosion tore through the air as the villain moved, allowing Izuku to get a mere glimpse of familiar spikey, blonde hair. "Hey kid, what are you doing!" Izuku's grocery bag dropped from his hand, spices and packets spilling out of the bag, but Izuku was gone before they even hit the ground. His body moved before he could think and he vaulted over the barricade, dashing around the heroes reaching for him and sprinting forward.

"Kacchan!" He screeched, stumbling slightly but continuing in his stride. His right hand came up, aiming at the villain's arm as he yelled out "Stupefy!" and slashed his arm down in a straight line. The red jet of light left his hand and slammed into a portion of slimy green, but the villain merely laughed as he absorbed it. Izuku didn't know why the spell didn't work (he would obsess over it later), but right now he didn't have the time to think about it. He couldn't use accio because that had the possibility of hurting them both, not to mention that Izuku could hurt Katsuki if he tried to summon him by his shirt. He had to think, he had to think-

"Protego!" The word left his lips as an explosion was aimed at him, the shield springing up and shattering upon impact but Izuku was already moving, slinging his bookbag off his back and tossing it into the air. "Depulso!" The bag was banished backwards, right into the villain's eye. The slime monster roared, loosening his grip, Katsuki gasped for breath, and Izuku leapt forward grabbing Katsuki's hand.

"Deku! Get out of here-"

"Shut up, you need help! Now hang on!" He tightened his grip on Katsuki's hand with his left, and pointing his right hand at the ground he shouted "Ascendio!" The spell sent them flying up into the air and Izuku couldn't contain his scream as they started to descend to the ground. Katsuki threw his arm back, ready to let loose an explosion when a shadow crossed over them and they were scooped into someone's arms and then quickly deposited on the ground as they landed.

"There is no need to fear. Why? Because I am here!" Both Izuku and Katsuki could only stare in shock as All Might stood in front of them, subdued the villain and changed the weather, all in a single punch. Izuku opened his mouth to say something, to thank him, to fanboy- but he and Katsuki were swept away by the other heroes and when Izuku looked back, All Might was gone. As they were both checked by the paramedics, Izuku pretended to ignore Katsuki giving him the stink eye and focused solely on the heroes that were scolding him and praising him in the same breath. Death Arms glared at them both with crossed arms before giving them a small smile.

"You both have amazing quirks, you'll go far with them." Katsuki rolled his eyes and said nothing, leaving Izuku to thank Death Arms for the both of them.

xxxXXXxxx

After the slime incident, Kacchan pushed himself (and Izuku by default) harder than ever. There wasn't a day that Izuku didn't come home tired, sore (and occasionally with tissue stuffed up his bleeding nose). Katsuki didn't mention how Izuku had started carrying his spell book with him everywhere (one that he had copied into a notebook in code, sorting it by charms, transfigurations, and hexes), and Izuku didn't mention how Katsuki flinched every time someone got too close to his neck. They suffered, but they were coping. Katsuki had scolded Izuku to the point of tears (which always came easily to him anyway, so really the scolding wasn't that bad) for resorting to shouting his spells the first time he was faced with a villain, Izuku had apologized and promised to be better and then they had gotten into an argument about who was going to be the number one hero (normal stuff).

The week after the Slime Villain incident, they sent in their applications for UA and their training increased even more with Kacchan putting both of them on diets that he had researched to help them get the maximum results. The week after that, Izuku came up with the idea for them to clean up Dagobah beach. It really was an excuse for Izuku to practice his more destructive spells and Kacchan tagged along too to practice his explosions. On weekends they would trudge to the beach and separate the items into two piles, things that were flammable and things that were not. From there they divided the non-flammable pile into two more piles, a pile of Kacchan and a pile for Izuku. That would take them around 2 hours, and for the next two hours following that the sounds of explosions and the occasional shout of different spells like Diffindo, Reducto, Incendio could be heard floating through the beach. The practice continued on even when it was so cold outside that Kacchan had to wear extra layers to produce any sweat and Izuku's hands would be red and numb by the time they left for the day (he learned the hard way that spells did not work through gloves, he was glad that he made sure he knew how to cast with both hands otherwise he would have needed a trip to the doctors instead of casting episkey and ferula). The time passed quickly, and one day 8 months later they found themselves destroying the last of the rubble and standing on the clear beach. Kacchan had given Izuku a wicked grin, Izuku gave Kacchan a bright smile and to celebrate they had both gone home to get some extra sleep. The remaining two months passed blurred by as they resumed their weekday training routine (going even harder on the weekends) and before they knew it, the morning of the exam was upon them.

Had it not been for Kacchan smacking Izuku on the back of the head, he absolutely would have fallen into a muttering spree as soon as he saw Present Mic take the stage.

"Shut it Deku" Kacchan hissed warningly in the way that promised that he would attempt to kill Izuku if the green haired boy spoke another word. Izuku didn't even dare to apologize, instead pressing his lips firmly together and instead choosing to let his eyes roam. He noticed that Kacchan and him were in different areas and was secretly sad but knew it was for the best. On his second glance around he saw the girl with the brown bob that had stopped him from falling by using her quirk to remove his gravity (so cool!). She caught his eye and he offered her a hesitant smile, getting one in return. He turned back to Present Mic just in time to catch him explaining the point system for the robots. The minutes after that passed quickly and then it was time for them to split up and head to their areas.

"Deku, I'm going to beat the shit out of you." Izuku smiled at the blonde and waved a hand.

"Good luck to you too Kacchan!" He quickly ran away, giggling to himself as he heard the loud 'HAH?' behind him. He found himself following the crowd to Area 1 humming to himself under his breath as he went through his stretch routine, running through his spell repertoire in his head. Since he would be facing robots he would stick to his destructive spells, mainly Reducto and Diffindo (with the occasional Accio if needed). Bombarda would be a last resort option as that spell still took a lot out of him and he didn't want to use Incendio around other people. Straightening up, he cracked his neck and stared forward as Present Mic stated that he was going to start the countdown.

"START!" The word tore across the field and for a second Izuku hesitated but then he found himself sprinting forward before anyone else began moving. Right hand flashing up he started the movement for Diffindo, silently repeating the incantation in his head. A jet of white light left his hand and took off the head of the one pointer that he ran across. He found himself traveling deeper and deeper into the exam city, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. If he was counting correctly he had 24 points, he had taken out 8 one pointers, 5 two pointers and 2 three pointers.

"Reducto!" He took out a 3 pointer that was standing over another student, mentally raising his count to 27 while helping the student to his feet. The brown haired girl from earlier was in the same area as him, smiling to herself as she remarked that she had 28 points. Izuku heard someone else say that they had 34 points and he quickly made his way towards the center again, taking out another two pointer and 3 one pointers. The number of robots were dwindling and Izuku could only hope that he would get enough points. He was in the process of taking down another 3 pointer with a well aimed Diffindo when the ground shook and his spell went wide, hitting a building. Izuku mentally winced, glad that no one was there, eyes flicking to the source of the shaking. His eyes widened like dinner plates and he took an involuntary step back as he realized that the 0 pointer had been released. People around him began sprinting for the exit and he found himself following them, only to stop as he heard someone call for help. Turning around he saw the girl from earlier, trapped under rubble.

His body moved before he could think and he found himself crouched at the girl's side. A familiar bone deep exhaustion was starting to settle in from him using so much magic but he ignored it, giving the girl a wide smile.

"Hi, I'm here to help! Can you move?" The girl shook her head, cheeks looking green.

"I can't, my leg is stuck. I think my ankle is sprained or broken." The ground shook as the zero pointer took another step forward. In about 3 more steps it would be on them, but Izuku wanted them to be long gone before that.

"Okay, stay still I'm going to get the rubble off of you. Wingardium leviosa." When he was getting tired his spells were more effective when he spoke them aloud (a habit Kacchan was trying to beat out of him). Focusing he carefully levitated the rocks up from her leg, wincing when he realized her ankle was twisted and her foot was facing the wrong way. The zero pointer took another step and Izuku realized they were running out of time. There was no way he could cast ferula on her and get her out of there before they were crushed by the zero pointer. He sighed, mentally preparing himself for the painful migraine he was going to give himself. "If you see my nose bleeding, don't be alarmed." He didn't give the girl the chance to say anything, stepping in front of her and raising both of his hands, moving them in unison.

He opened his mouth and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Bombarda maxima!" twin jets of white light flew from his palms and slammed into the zero pointer. The following explosion made his ears ring and he hastily cast ferula on the girl's ankle. He watched as she tapped her own face and remembering her quirk, he scooped her up, wrapped his arm around her waist and hurriedly dragged her away. Time was called just as they got a safe distance away and he helped the girl sit down as she released her gravity. There was a headache building behind his eyes and he could feel wetness running down his face.

"Your nose-" The girl sounded horrified (he really needed to ask her what her name was, oh he didn't even introduce himself did he? He would have to fix that) and he waved his hand almost as if he could wave away her concern. He could feel himself slipping away and allowed himself to listlessly drop down next to her.

"It happens. I'm Midoriya Izuku by the way. I'm going to pass out now."

"I am here! Yes it is I, All Might! I will be teaching at UA this year, and now for the results. Midoriya Izuku, you earned 32 villain points. Normally that alone would not be enough for you to get in, but that is not all we count for! Rescue points are also a thing! For your heroic save of the young lady as well as helping other contestants throughout the exam, we award you with 60 rescue points! You have earned 92 points which puts you in 1st place in the exams. Welcome to your hero academia!"

"Mom, MOM! I got in! I got first place! Wait…I got… first..place?"

"Oh Izuku, my baby, I'm so proud! I knew you could do it- Oh look, is that Katsuki sprinting down the street?"

"Oh no, Mom, lock the door!"

"DEKUU!"

"MOM THE DOOR, LOCK THE DOOR DON'T LET HIM IN I'LL DIE"

"Nonsense, Katsuk is a good boy! I bet he got 2nd right behind you. Go outside and greet him!"

"Mom no, stop using your quirk to pull me out the door Mom! Mom don't close the door! MOM! Mom open the door, ALOHOM-"

"Oh no you don't-"

"Kacchan! Kacchan we can talk about this-"

"DIE!"

"AIEEEEE!"

xxxXXXxxx

Izuku decided that if he didn't die by homicide by Kacchan, then he would absolutely be killed by his homeroom teacher. The man was absolutely brutal . He had judged them all for not noticing him right away and then he threatened to expel them since the pink girl said that the quirk apprehension test sounded like fun. On top of that, Kacchan seemed to be taking his 2nd place ranking as motivation to try and do better than Izuku in the quirk apprehension test. They had been paired up against each other for the standing long jump and Izuku had eaten an explosion to the face which knocked him off his trajectory and sent him sprawling into the sand. Kacchan had looked smug after that, ignoring Izuku's exasperated sigh. Izuku had done fairly decent in all the other categories, though he was personally proud of the baseball toss. He had gotten a score of 400 meters after using Depulso on the ball (it was really hard to hit smaller objects with the spell) and he sat at 4th place on the ranking. Kacchan had taken third which made him upset but he was happy that he was ahead of Izuku. A boy named Todoroki who had half white and half red hair took 2nd place and the girl that created a scooter from her back took 1st. No one ended up getting expelled (which Izuku was happy about and he especially knew that the invisible girl was really happy about it since she ended up in 20th place). They had been sent home after the apprehension test and Izuku found himself looking forward to the next day when they would have foundational heroics with All Might. It would be fun!

xxxXXXxxx

Foundational heroics was certainly not fun for a multitude of reasons. The first reason was that Izuku was fanboying so hard that he missed All Might's introduction of the exercise and so he had no idea what was going on when he picked a random ball with the letter D. He had ended up paired up with the pink girl (Mina if he was remembering her name correctly) and would be going against Kacchan and a yellow haired boy who had the electricity quirk. Izuku didn't have a spell that could combat electricity (he would need to scour his spellbook after this and see if there was one, if not it wouldn't be the first time he had to create a spell even if the last ones didn't work ) but luckily he didn't need one.

"Your quirk is acid right?" He asked Ashido as they planned, the pink haired girl smiling and giving him a thumbs up.

"Yup! I can control the acidity of it so I can make it really weak or really strong. What's your quirk?"

"It's called Magic, I can cast different spells."

"Oh so you're like a witch!"

"Sort of, yeah. Anyway the spikey blonde is my friend and he's going to target me first. I think you should head for the bomb and let me distract him. The other blonde boy has an electricity quirk. Say, can you make your acid sticky like glue?" Ashido gave him a mischievous smirk that sent shivers down Izuku's spine.

"Me and you are going to be great friends Midori, I never even thought about that! Let's rock this!" The whistle blew and they entered the building. Like Izuku had said, Kacchan came directly at him, sending an explosion that was blocked with a protego. Ashido took off up the steps without a second glance back, leaving Izuku alone with Katsuki.

"I'm going to beat your ass, Deku." Katsuki gave him a feral smile and Izuku felt one of his own rising up.

"You're welcome to try." They fell into a familiar song and dance, Kacchan launching forward with a right hand swing and Izuku ducking under it, hand moving to cast a spell only to have to abort the motion and bring his arm up to block a punch. Izuku was suddenly glad for all the extra pockets he added to his hero costume and didn't just use the one that his mom had made for him (though he did tuck it in his locker). Reaching in one of his pockets he grabbed a handful of…cotton balls? Not stopping to think about what they were, he quickly cast engorgio and banished the giant cotton balls at Kacchan, ducking behind a corner as Kacchan blasted the cotton balls, incinerating them to dust. "All good, Ashido?" Izuku spoke into his coms, getting an affirmative in response.

"You better focus on me, Deku!" Kacchan rounded the corner, hand glowing orange and Izuku hastily threw himself backward to dodge the blast.

"Believe me, I am!" Izuku retorted, dodging another blow. They struck and parried, Izuku dodging explosions and Katsuki dodging spells until they were standing in the middle of a large room. Both of their chests were heaving and sweat was running down their faces. It made Izuku nervous because he knew just exactly what Katsuki would do with that sweat.

"Hey Deku, have you been practicing your stronger shield spell?" The way Katsuki grinned at him set every nerve off in his body.

"Kacchan…whatever you're planning don't you dare-"

"Time to see if it'll hold up against me! Do you remember these gauntlets? They help store my sweat." Holy shit. If Katsuki fired that gauntlet Izuku was going to tell Uncle Marasu, he swore it.

"Young Bakugou, do not use that weapon! It's dangerous-"

"The nerd can block it! Here it comes!" Kacchan went to pull out the pin and Izuku moved, hand flying out to point at Katsuki's hand and gauntlet.

Incarcerous! The rope bound Katsuki's hand to the gauntlet, leaving him unable to pull the pin. Stupefy! The red jet of light struck Katsuki and sent him slumping to the ground. Izuku bound Katsuki with another set of ropes and was about to move to help Ashido when All Might's voice rang out.

"THE HERO TEAM WINS!" Letting out a breath, Izuku cast Rennervate on Katsuki, glaring down at him as the boy woke up.

"I'm telling Uncle Marasu you tried to kill me."

xxxXXXxxx

Izuku did in fact tell Uncle Marasu that Katsuki tried to murder him with his gauntlets. Dealing with the extra spice that appeared in his lunch for the next couple of days was worth it to see the normally mild man stare at Katsuki with disappointment as he lectured him about why murder was wrong and so was aiming a dangerous weapon like that during a training exercise. He also made Katsuki write out "I will not try to murder my friends" 100 times and then gave it to Izuku. He was so going to frame it.

If there was one thing that made Izuku's anxiety act up, it was the media. They were so aggressive and so pushy-

"What do you think about All Might teaching here at UA?" Izuku hadn't stuttered in years (you absolutely could not stutter when casting a spell, who knew what would happen) but he felt the old tendency building up when he felt a rough hand grab his book bag.

"Get out the fucking way, can't you see the nerd is about to piss himself? Bunch of fucking vultures." He felt himself be roughly dragged through the crowd and then shoved when they passed the gates. "You're pathetic, Deku. I should have left your ass there"

"Thanks, Kacchan." The explosion user shoved his hands in his pockets and rolled his eyes, not acknowledging the thanks like usual. Typical Kacchan.

"I still don't know why you all selected me for class rep, I think Yaoyorozu would have been the better option." Izuku mumbled into his rice, picking up a piece of pork with his chopsticks. He sat at a lunch table with Uraraka (the nice brown-haired girl), Ashido (the pink one who declared they were now best friends and let him experiment with her quirk, Sensei nearly expelled them when they melted a hole in the floor), Kaminari and Kirishima (they seemed to have attached themselves to Kacchan), Iida (who seemed nice if not a bit stern), Asui (call me Tsuyu) and of course, Kacchan.

"I voted for you because you seem smart Midori, I would have never thought to try and use my acid to climb up walls!" Ashido cheered, pumping a fist in the air before going back to slurping up her noodles. Next to him, Uraraka nodded with a smile on her face.

"You showed really quick thinking when you saved me from the zero pointer, that's something a class rep should have." Izuku's eyes started watering, a sure sign that he was about to cry only for them all to be startled by a loud siren going off. The cafeteria quickly descended into madness and Izuku found himself being pushed and shoved to the side until he was standing by a window. It was the media, the freaking media causing this!

"Kaminari! It's just the media!" He yelled to the first familiar face that he could see, pressing himself further against the window. He had to warn them somehow- Duh! He pressed a hand to his throat and thought Sonorous . Once he felt the spell take hold he spoke as loud as he could "ATTENTION UA! IT IS JUST THE MEDIA! TRY TO STAY CALM AND CALMLY EXIT THE CAFETERIA!" The commotion slowly calmed as his words sunk in and he pressed his hand back to his throat, thinking Quietus . He filtered out of the cafeteria with the rest of the school and made his way back to the classroom where the rest of his classmates were already gathered.

"Midoriya, that is why you are deserving of class rep!" Iida chimed up, chopping his arms through the air. The others around him agreed even Yaoyorozu who had seemed a bit put out that she hadn't been selected (with the only exception being Kacchan who was probably just mad he wasn't even voted for).

"I'll try to do my best then, please take care of me." He bowed his head and went back to his seat, waving at Yaoyorozu on his way there since she was his VP. She gave him a warm smile and he made a mental note to meet with her at some point so they could discuss meeting with 1-B's reps.

"Alright, enough of that," Aizawa rose from his yellow sleeping bag, stepping behind the podium. "Tomorrow we will be taking a field trip so make sure you are here on time. Dismissed."

xxxXXXxxx

The morning of the field trip, Izuku woke up with a pit of dread in his stomach. Assuming it was just his anxiety, he went through his normal routine of drinking a cup of tea and taking his rarely used medication. He ate his breakfast and by the time he was finished getting ready for school his nerves were quiet.

"Mom, I'm leaving for school!"

"I'll see you later!" He slipped out the front door and made his way to Kacchan's place, waving at Aunt Mitsuki as she stood by the door to watch Kacchan leave.

"Hey Izuku, stop by sometime this week and get the brat in more trouble!" Auntie Mitsuki yelled from the door and Izuku laughed.

"I will!"

"Fuck both of you!" Kacchan yelled and began swiftly walking down the street. Izuku had to run to catch up with him. As they bickered on the way to the train, Izuku forgot that he even had anxiety this morning. It was a normal day with a field trip, everything would be fine.

Izuku, Tsuyu, and Mineta could only stare and watch in horror as their teacher was slammed into the ground by the giant bird creature. Blood splattered through the air and Izuku wrapped his hands around both of their arms, slowly dragging them back towards the frozen lake (hit with Glacius ). The beast had tanked each hit from their teacher like it was nothing and then proceeded to break his arms. Aizawa was going to die if they didn't do something- Where was All Might-

"What if we kill some kids? Will that make All Might come?" The ashy villain moved quicker than they could think, hand reaching towards Tsuyu's face and Izuku moved . His hand was still wrapped around Tsuyu's arm and he dragged her backwards, releasing his hold on Mineta and swung his arm forward, already going through the familiar motion.

Depulso! Fear darted through his heart as nothing happened, only to calm as he noticed Aizawa's lifted hair and glowing eyes. The villain chuckled, looking away from them.

"You're really cool, Eraser-head. Nomu." A crunch echoed through the air as his teacher's head was slammed into the ground, an alarming pool of blood beginning to grow. "Now, where were-" Izuku didn't let him finish, casting the banishing charm again only for it to be intercepted by the hulking beast.

"Mineta, Tsuyu, go get Aizawa-sensei to safety." He sounded calmer than he felt as he stared the embodiment of death in the eyes.

"Midoriya-"

"I'll be right behind you. He needs help now, go!" Tsuyu went, dragging Mineta after her and as soon as they moved, Izuku moved too. Immobulus! Impedimenta! Incarcerous! Petrificus Totalus! He slung the spells towards the creature, immediately turning on his heel and running as he saw the first spell make contact. He bolted after Mineta and Tsuyu, the voice of the hand villain echoing after him.

"That was pretty good for an NPC, but not good enough. Nomu, kill him." Only years of training with Kacchan had him spinning on his ankle, casting Protego just as a fist hit the ground where he had been previously, a shockwave lifting him off his feet. He went flying through the air and hit the ground with a thud, rolling to his feet. His stomach roiled as he watched the Nomu lift its hand out of the crater. Had the hit landed, he would have been a pancake. He forced himself to ignore his nausea and slowly began backing up. He was running through spells in his head, not knowing what to do. He didn't know how the creature had broken out of the full body bind, normally it could only be reversed with a Finite. Was the creature magic resistant? Or did Izuku miss? Either way, Izuku couldn't hold back with his spells anymore. Tsuyu and Mineta were behind him, slowly making their way to the front. He had to keep the Nomu away from them so they could get Aizawa to safety. Decision made he lifted his hand, preparing to cast only to have to throw himself to the side as the Nomu lunged at him once more. He wasn't quick enough, a meaty hand throwing itself out and hitting Izuku hard in the ribs. He went flying backward, slamming into the fountain that had been in the middle of the USJ. He heard several shocked cries but he couldn't make out what they were saying. He was dazed and it hurt to breathe but he was alert enough to press a hand to his ribs and hiss out "Ferula." The bandages wrapped themselves around his ribs. Another raised hand and a hissed "Episkey" healed a cut that had opened above his eyebrow. He felt the skin knit back together and he staggered back to his feet, arms in front of him. He wouldn't be fast enough to move out of the creature's way, but he didn't have to. The front door to the USJ slammed open and All Might appeared on the doorsteps. Before Izuku could blink he had been scooped up and deposited near Mineta and Tsuyu.

"Have no fear, why? Because I am here! Young Midoriya, Young Asui and Young Mineta, get back to the entrance!" Just as quick as he arrived, All Might was gone, lunging towards the beast that Izuku just noticed was about to attack Kacchan.

"Midoriya, there's blood all over your face." Mineta's voice shook as he spoke but Izuku waved him away, giving him a small smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"Facial wound. 'Scuse me Tsuyu." He pointed at Aizawa, casting another Ferula despite the headache that was building behind his eyes. The bandages wound themselves around Aizawa's ribs and head which would hopefully stabilize him until help arrived. Together (with Mineta supporting Izuku), the three of them (four if you counted their unconscious teacher) made their way to the entrance.

When Izuku got the all clear to go home from Recovery Girl, Kacchan and Auntie Mitsuki were waiting for him. A bandage was still wrapped around Izuku's head as Recovery Girl had focused on healing his fractured ribs, bruised back, and concussion so there were still a few cuts near his hairline. From the looks of it, Kacchan hadn't been hurt much either besides a couple of scratches and bruises (he didn't even bother going to Recovery Girl so Izuku could still see them). The minute Izuku saw them, he burst into tears. Neither of the Bakugous paid it any attention, knowing he was probably overwhelmed.

"Hey kid, Inko got called into work so you're coming home with us for the night. I already have your clothes." Auntie Mitsuki gently ruffled his hair and Izuku nodded, sniffling and wiping his nose with the tissue that Mitsuki had wordlessly passed him. Kacchan gave him a nasty glare but his shoulders had relaxed so Izuku knew the boy was just worried. "Let's go, Marasu is making dinner." She turned and walked ahead of them and Izuku fell back a little to walk in line with Katsuki.

"Deku. We're getting stronger." Katsuki's voice was low, eyes trained forward on his mother. The unspoken So we're never caught off guard like this again was heard clearly by Izuku who nodded.

"Yeah, we will."

"Boys, hurry up!"

Self Quirk Analysis #145

Learn Imperio and confundo. Look up stronger shield spells (stone shields possibly?). Learn stronger healing spells. Practice the fog screen spell (fumos), (good use for evasion and could have been used to cover escape). Learn portus (could have teleported class out of the building). Master Expecto Patronum (could have used that to send a message for help or as a distraction to get away.)

Get stronger. Be better.

The night after the USJ attack, Izuku found himself sitting outside his balcony flipping through the unofficial book of spells. He found himself flipping to the back of the book where the darker curses were held, hesitating only the smallest amount before shaking it away. Not all hexes were dark, and even if they were so what? He wasn't going to use spells like Avada Kedavra or Crucio, but knowing those more lethal spells would be useful against the Nomu (never against a human, but it was good to know just in case). Using his pen he carefully made a notation next to Sectumsempra, making sure to check off the healing spell for it too (Vulnera Sanentur, which was also a higher level healing spell). After a moment's hesitation, he put a small question mark next to fiendfyre. If there were more Nomu and had high levels of regeneration too, then fiendfyre may be what's needed to get rid of them. Still, he would have to think about it. He knew from the books that fiendfyre was hard to control, he would have to practice it somewhere safe.

When the classroom door opened after Aizawa-sensei's announcement about the Sports Festival, there was a crowd of students waiting for Class 1-A. Izuku mentally sighed as he moved to the front, a smile on his face as Yaoyorozu joined him by his side. They were the class representatives so they would see what their guests wanted.

"Hello! Can we help you?" Izuku kept his smile on even as a blonde pushed forward until he was standing in Izuku's personal bubble. The crowd around them stilled, the students in the crowd glaring at Class 1-A as the blonde boy spoke.

"So this is the supposed great class 1-A who couldn't even protect themselves against villains. I confess to be disappointed." There were startled gasps from his class and Izuku's eyes flashed, his smile turning chilly. Despite having a grip on his magic, Izuku was still prone to accidental bouts when he got too emotional. Around him, random things in the classroom began to float. "I want you all to know-"

"I'm going to stop you right there." His cold green eyes scanned over the crowd before locking back on the blonde. "Whatever inferiority crisis you're having, keep it to yourself." He heard gasps and murmured curse words from his class, along with cackles coming from Kacchan. It was rare that Izuku acted like this, but when he did, he was brutal. "We nearly died. Do you understand that? We watched our teacher be pummeled into the ground, we were separated from each other and forced to fight villains who wanted us dead. If any of you want to take our place, maybe you need to get your damn heads checked to make sure you aren't insane. Now get the hell out of our way so we can go to lunch or I'll turn you into a teacup." The crowd parted silently and Izuku linked his arm through Yaoyorozu's, striding forward and leaving her with no choice but to follow. The rest of Class 1-A filtered out behind them. When they were halfway to the cafeteria, Yaoyorozu, who had been silent the entire time, spoke up.

"Midoriya, I think you should call me Yaomomo." Izuku flashed her a blinding smile, his cold one nowhere to be seen.

"Great! You can call me Izuku if you wish, or Midori, that's what Ashido calls me."

Admittedly, after that display, Izuku deserved to be sent to Hound Dog's office. It was nice though, the dog man gave him a hot chocolate and then they had a 30 minute chat about what happened both outside the classroom and at the USJ. Based on his conversation it was decided that Izuku would meet with him next Tuesday after school and they would have an hour-long meeting. After that, Hound Dog would decide if he needed to see him again.

xxxXXXxxx

Hound Dog decided that Izuku would need to return the following Tuesday after Izuku dangled Mineta out of a window using Levicorpus after the boy tried to look up Yaomomo's skirt. It wasn't because Izuku did it (even though that was part of the reason) but rather for the methodical way in which he did it. Apparently, it wasn't normal to calmly open a window, lift a person with magic and then proceed to dangle them out the window while telling them to call themselves a pervert before making them publicly apologize.

Izuku hadn't argued with him, merely shrugging and eating one of the dog-treat-shaped cookies he had made for his counselor. He didn't do anything wrong, honestly, it would build Mineta's character (the boy could be tolerable when he wasn't being a weirdo).

In the two weeks leading up to the Sports Festival, Izuku trained alone. He would be in direct competition with Kacchan and both of them wanted to give it their all and so instead of training together, they did their own thing. Izuku focused on refining his dueling style, broadening his repertoire beyond his normal Depulso and Stupefy. He practiced throwing in joke spells like Tarantallegra and the Bat Boogey hex, practiced putting water onto the floor and casting Glacius to freeze it, and then casting Accio on the dummy's shoes to make them slip. He practiced until the familiar headache was thrumming between his eyes and then he would quit for the night and start again after school the next day. This continued on until 2 days before the Sports Festival when he stopped and allowed himself to rest.

xxxXXXxxx

The day before the Sports festival, Aizawa-sensei used the homeroom period to explain the different types of heroes. The first type they discussed were rescue heroes (like Thirteen) whose primary job was just that: rescue. They were often called in the first wave to disaster sites (when natural) and were tasked with evacuation as well as search and rescue. The second type they went over were limelight heroes (any hero on the ranking chart) like All Might and Endeavor. Limelight heroes were also daytime heroes. Their fights took place in the light of day and were the most watched and publicized as they were the ones actively engaging the villains. They were ranked by the HeroCharts and they had to be mindful of their appearance and behavior because they were tasked with interacting with the media. The last type of hero was the Underground or nighttime hero (Aizawa-sensei fell into this category). Underground heroes patrolled the less popular areas where there were more likely to be villains and a higher chance of dealing with things like drug busts. Underground heroes didn't exist in the eyes of the media, and that was how they wanted to keep it.

"Be aware that for your first Sports festival it doesn't really matter but for your second and third, if you plan to go Underground you'll have to fail out early to keep your quirk and name under wraps. Discuss what we just went over with your classmates and don't wake me from my nap." Aizawa, still wrapped in bandages, disappeared into his sleeping bag and almost immediately the whispers started up.

"Bakugou, which type of hero are you planning on being?" Kirishima leaned over the aisle, flashing Kacchan a grin. Izuku snickered silently to himself as Kacchan exploded.

"I'm going to be number fucking one! That means I'm going for limelight, shitty hair!"

"Is there anyone who doesn't plan on being in the limelight?" Uraraka spoke up from across the classroom, catching everyone's attention. "I'm going to be a limelight rescue hero!"

"I think I want to do the same thing, kero." Tsuyu spoke up. Hagakure leaned forward, pressing her glove to her face (Izuku assumed).

"I might go underground, they'd never see me coming!" More people chimed in about whether they were going limelight or underground with Hagakure and possibly Tokoyami being the only two who wanted to slip away from the spotlight.

"What about you, Midori?" Izuku shrugged, drumming his fingers against his desk. He didn't really know anymore, before he would have said limelight without hesitation, he wanted to compete with Kacchan for number 1 after all. But now, after having actually experienced a villain attack he realized that if someone took the time to really watch him, his quirk was actually easily countered by metal that could make the spell reflect or it could be easily dodged.

"I'm not quite sure honestly. I used to really want to be a limelight hero, but my quirk might be better suited for the underground." He kept his eyes on Ashido, not looking over at Kacchan who was burning holes into his head. He could understand Kacchan's confusion; Izuku had never expressed interest in anything other than being a limelight hero. He would talk to him about it after the sports festival.

"HELL-ooo everybody! Guys, gals, and non-binary pals welcome to the UA sports festival for our first years! I'm your host, Present Mic and my trusty sidekick is none other than Eraserhead! Say hi Eraser!"

"I'm being held hostage."

"Haha so funny Eraser! Moving on, it's time to introduce our classes! The class that confronted villains and took no prisoners, Class 1-A! Next we have our other hero course class, 1-B! Then we have our general and support classes 1-C, 1-D, 1-E, 1-F, 1-G, and 1-H! Yeah! And now it's time for our first year speaker, the one who scored first place in exams, Midoriya Izuku! Hey, why does he look like someone shoved a lemon down his throat?"

"I knew I forgot to tell him something."

Izuku was going to die, he was going to self-destruct and then die. How could Aizawa-sensei betray him like this? No one told him he had to give a speech!

"Move it, nerd!" Kacchan whispered in his ear harshly before shoving him forward. His class cleared the way from him and he walked to the podium stiffly, running through every plan in his head to turn Aizawa's jelly pouches into carrots and his sleeping bag into a cardboard box. He forced himself to smile at Midnight-sensei before turning and standing before the microphone. He took a deep breath and then allowed his normal smile to cross his face.

"Hi everyone! I didn't know I would be speaking today so I didn't put a proper speech together but I promise I won't take long! Each and every one of us is here today because we have something to prove and we have goals that we are aiming for. I want all of us to do our best no matter what class we're in. Let's show everyone that no matter what, we are the true embodiment of our school motto. Go beyond, plus ultra!" Outwardly he was smiling as he pumped his fist in the air, giving Midnight sensei a short bow before scuttling off the stage. Inwardly he was screaming and plotting his own death. He would have his revenge on Aizawa-sensei, even if it made him have to meet with Hound Dog again!

xxxXXXxxx

In the announcer's booth, Aizawa felt a chill run down his spine.

xxxXXXxxx

Midway through his patrol around the building, Inui (also known as Hound Dog) got the odd urge to find Midoriya and start growling at him.

xxxXXXxxx

Sometimes Izuku felt like he was in one of those ridiculous soap operas that his mother enjoyed watching. The ones where something tragic always had to happen to the main character and when your favorite side character had more than a passing line you knew they were about to die. The reason he was feeling like this was the person who had just created a giant glacier and probably gave poor Sero hypothermia.

30 minutes earlier

"Midoriya, I need to talk with you." Todoroki stood on the side, glaring at Izuku. Izuku exchanged a glance between Mei (who he was totally in love with, she was going to try and make him a weapon that he could embed his spells in) and Uraraka (who had honestly saved his life about 30 times in the 2nd round, including when she literally sent Kacchan floating) before shrugging and following Todoroki. Todoroki led Izuku through twisting hallways until they finally came to a stop.

"What's up, Todoroki?" Two different colored eyes observed him for a minute before Todoroki spoke, face blank.

"You made me break my vow to myself-"

"Wait, sorry to interrupt but if this is going to get as deep as I think it's going to, give me one second." He waved his hand through the air and mumbled Muffliato. He gave it a second, nodding to himself once he was sure the spell would hold. "Sorry, go on, I put up a barrier against eavesdroppers. What vow did you break?"

"The one to never use my fire. You overwhelmed me…Midoriya, have you ever heard of quirk marriages?"

Present time

So yeah, Izuku felt like he was in a soap opera and was 87% sure he was supposed to report this to a teacher (he would ask Hound Dog-sensei at their next meeting) and was 99% sure that if he made it to the second round, Todoroki would freeze him to death to make a point.

"Midoriya, you have to head down." Uraraka bumped his shoulder and he got up, nodding to her and then giving her a thumbs up. His match was up against a girl from class 1-B, Shiozaki if he was remembering her name correctly. He already had a counter against her quirk (vines for hair) but he was going to feel so bad using it. Before he knew it, he was standing on the elevated stage across from Shiozaki and Midnight was starting their fight.

"Prepare to pay for your sins. Pray for forgiveness" Shiozaki murmured and Izuku winced, he probably would have to atone after this. Shiozaki's vines leaped up and raced towards him but he didn't move, bringing his right hand up and sighing.

"Sorry about this." Incendio. The orange and red light left his palm and slammed into the first vine. Shiozaki shrieked as her hair caught fire, hands coming up to put it out but with another wave of his hand and the silent casting of Stupefy, Shiozaki dropped to the ground like a rock. Izuku immediately cast aguamenti to put the fire out and kept his eyes trained on the ground as Midnight declared him the winner. He would have to bug Kendo (the president of 1-B) into telling him what Shiozaki's favorite dessert was so he could make her an apology treat.

xxxXXXxxx

The fight between Kacchan and Uraraka was so good (Izuku was absolutely going to have to put cooling charms on Kacchan's wrist braces after the festival, the boy was absolutely going to be wearing them for the next couple of days) but it did little to distract Izuku from the fact that he had already decided he was going to lose this match. He could win, Todoroki wasn't a close-range fighter so all Izuku had to do was get close and hit him with a petrificus totalus and the match would be over but-

He didn't know if this was his atonement for setting Shiozaki on fire but now he felt like it was his turn to burn (hopefully not literally). He wanted to be a hero to help save people, and Todoroki was going to be the first person that he saved no matter what. Izuku let out a huff of breath and rose to his feet, stretching his own wrists out. He was going to have to use his more destructive spells on the ice. He would still go all out, it was only fair if he was pushing Todoroki to do the same.

xxxXXXxxx

"Next up we have the…I actually don't know what the hell his quirk is but we have class 1-A's Midoriya Izuku vs the powerhouse Todoroki Shouto! Who do you think is going to win this one Eraser?"

"It could go either way, Problem Child-"

"He's talking about Midoriya folks-"

"- Has a broad repertoire of moves and a versatile quirk but Todoroki has an excellent grip on his quirk. Problem child has that look on his face though so this match is going to be a shitshow."

xxxXXXxxx

And a shitshow it was. Todoroki opened up with a glacier, just like Izuku thought he would. Izuku was honestly almost insulted. He pointed his right hand at the incoming glacier, casting Bombarda Maxima. A quick protego followed, protecting him from the rebounding ice. Todoroki followed up with another glacier, one that Izuku destroyed with a Reducto . That was how it went for the next 2 minutes. Todoroki sent glaciers that continuously grew smaller and smaller and Izuku destroyed them with an almost bored expression on his face.

"You look cold, Todoroki. Why don't you use your flames to warm yourself up?" Izuku could hear Present Mic saying something but didn't focus on what it was, instead keeping his eyes on Todoroki.

"I won't use his power!" Todoroki sent another glacier and this time Izuku moved, tracing his hand in the shape of a lowercase b. Ascendio! The spell sent him flying upwards and he quickly moved his hand in the shape of a lowercase C with a longer tail, Descendo! The spell sent him shooting down like a rocket. He spun mid air, sending jets of flames down with Incendio that Todoroki blocked with ice and then dodged backward as Izuku slammed into the ground, barely slowed by Arresto Momentum.

"You've gotta be kidding me! We're all giving our all and you're half assing it! Is that what you want to be? A half assed hero?!" If his mother could hear him Izuku would have been eating soap for the next week, but thankfully he wasn't speaking loud enough for that. Still Todoroki looked shocked, no one ever expected that type of language from Izuku (and honestly they should, he grew up with Katsuki for god's sake).

"I won't-" His words were cut off by Izuku punching him in the face, no longer using his quirk. Izuku reared back to punch him again only to stumble as Todoroki encased his feet in ice. Izuku cast incendio on his feet, blocking one of Todoroki's own punches (that hurt like hell because Todoroki covered his knuckles in ice).

"IT'S YOUR QUIRK, NOT HIS!" His chest was heaving and they stood motionless for a second, gray and blue eyes locked onto green. "It's your quirk Todoroki." He repeated quickly. They stared each other down for another beat and then suddenly Todoroki caught on fire and a crazed grin stretched across Izuku's face. Oh Izuku was absolutely going to lose, but it was for a good cause.

"You're crazy, you know that? You could have won." Todoroki sounded like he was in disbelief and Izuku shrugged.

"You needed help, isn't that what heroes do? Besides, you still haven't won yet." Izuku had never tried what he was about to do before but it was based on one of Kacchan's super moves that he was trying to perfect. He launched himself into the air again using Ascendio and while he was in the air he began casting his second spell with his left hand. It was extremely difficult to focus on each hand at one time and Izuku had always failed to do it. This time though, he had a good feeling. Aguamenti, he spoke in his mind, the water spell flying from his left hand. Rather than cut the spell off, he kept feeding it and fueling it, bending the water to his will as it began to wrap around him. He reached the apex of his flight up and cut Ascendio, allowing himself to fall naturally until his feet were behind him and his head was facing the ground. He cast Depulso with his right arm, the movement unbalancing him and sending him into a spin. He then cast descendo and rocketed towards the earth, towards the fire, towards Todoroki, with a crazed smile on his face. He could hear Kacchan screaming curses at him as Izuku finally cut the stream of water and abruptly cast Arresto momentum on himself while banishing the built-up water towards Todoroki.

" AQUA IMPACT!" He shouted, cackling more as Kacchan's cursing screams reached new heights. The flames reared up and met the water and suddenly Izuku was flying through the air as steam billowed from the impact of the two elements, flipping head over heels and unable to cast any spells until he was stopped by the wall. His last thoughts before passing out were " Totally worth it."

xxxXXXxxx

Kacchan tried to murder Izuku while he was in Recovery Girl's office for a concussion and quirk exhaustion. Granted, it was warranted but now Izuku wasn't the only one who had to meet with Hound Dog-sensei next week. Katsuki had gotten his revenge though, calling Izuku's mother and telling her that he was awake. Izuku spent the next 15 minutes trying to soothe his mother and tell her that he definitely was insane but it was okay!

It was not okay.

Izuku had definitely just earned himself meetings with Hound-Dog for the rest of the school year, but he absolutely had the right to. Kacchan had gone bat shit when Todoroki didn't use his fire (which was definitely an overreaction but Izuku understood his thought process) but that didn't mean they had to muzzle and chain him like he was a villain! When Izuku saw that, he calmly turned to Uraraka.

"Urakaka, please float me."

"Deku?" She looked at him in confusion but Izuku's face was deadly serious.

"Float. Me."

"Do not float him, Uraraka. Izuku-" Yaomomo placed her hand on his shoulder, nearly stepping back at the rage burning in his eyes. "You can't go up there. It would embarrass him more to have your help than it would for him to stay like that." Yaomomo was right, Izuku knew she was right but what the fuck!

"You're right Yaomomo. I'm going to set someone on fire instead. Mineta, you were part of the cheerleader scheme, right? We discussed what happens when you exhibit pervert behaviors so thanks for being my volunteer-" Mineta immediately screamed and ran to hide behind Kaminari who immediately pushed him away. Mineta then dove under a chair, trying to run for the exit while Izuku calmly strode towards him. It took Kirishima wrapping his arms around Izuku and hardening them to keep Izuku from doing something rash and in the commotion, none of them noticed that Iida had slipped away.

"Kacchan?"

"What."

"I think that even if Todoroki had used his fire, you still would have beat his ass."

"Tch, watch your fucking mouth Deku. Damn, right I would have."

"Want to come over to my house? I'll get my mom to make you something spicy."

"Anything to keep me away from the old hag."

Izuku showed up to school bright and early the first day back following the Sports festival. Barely anyone had begun to show up yet and so Izuku made his move, slinking through the hallways like a predator stalking its prey until he found the teacher's lounge. There were teachers there already when he walked in.

"Midoriya? Who're you looking for?" Izuku turned his head and locked eyes with Snipe-sensei. He gave him a smile, he was one of the only teachers who wasn't on his current shitlist.

"You actually, sensei. Mei is making me a gun and I wanted to know if you could show me how to use it!" He walked over to the cowboy and started his rapid-fire speech about how he was so excited and while he did that he discretely scanned the room until he found what he was looking for. Bingo. While Aizawa-sensei mainly drank juice pouches, on Tuesdays (which today was) he would come into school with a thermos of coffee. If it so happened to coincide with the day that Present Mic didn't do his early morning radio show, no one else noticed but Izuku. "Great, I meet with Hound Dog-sensei on Tuesdays so I'll see you next Thursday, Snipe-sensei!" Without waiting for the man's agreement, Izuku left the room. When he got into the hallway he took a thermos filled with decaf coffee out of his bookbag and cast a switching spell on the liquid. It took a minute of concentration before he was confident enough to cast it and once it was done he took a sip and shivered. A wide smile stretched across his face and he took another sip of his now caffeinated beverage, humming to himself. He hoped that Aizawa-sensei liked black decaf.

And he hoped the man would enjoy dealing with Izuku on a caffeine high.
