~Prologue~

In a land known as the kingdom of the sun, lies the city of Corona ruled by a beloved king and queen. The queen was expecting a baby soon, but she fell ill. Rumors spread across their land of a flower that blossomed out from the rays of the sun that fell from heaven called Sol Lillitalus. This sunflower could cure any injury or ailment. The sunflower was found and after the queen ingested it, she miraculously got healed. The joyous day came when the baby girl arrived. King Frederic and Queen Arianna named her Rapunzel, the princess born with long golden locks of hair. With the arrival of the new baby, the king and queen lit up paper lanterns and sent them into the sky as a way to celebrate her birth. Queen Arianna spent much time with her daughter cradling her in her arms and singing lullabies to her. Since the princess often rose with the sun, Arianna made up a song with the sun in mind.

"A new dawn is breaking

A day for memories in the making

My child, my dear, sweet child

My love for you remains

sure as the rising and the setting sun

I'll always hold you tight as my love remains

For I am yours and you are mine."

New maids were brought in to care for the young princess and one stood out above the rest. An elderly woman with a trembling voice and years that shone on her face. Her greying hair showed her age and that didn't stop her from getting her job done. Despite her age, she kept up with ladies younger than her. This maid was named Emelia Gothel. She loved her job and doted on the child. Though one day, Gothel disappeared along with the newborn princess. Search parties scoured the continent of Corona. King Frederic and Queen Arianna were left with a hole in their hearts and an ache that never ebbed. Their daughter was gone without a trace.

18 Years Later

Nearby within a dense forest where hundreds of wanted posters are plastered on trees, there lies a tall stone tower near a waterfall that nobody sees. A young woman with long, golden hair hidden away inside dreams of far-off places somewhere outside. Her home is a place that she has always known and always stayed. Whether it be fear that keeps her or not wanting to disappoint her mother who has always forbidden her leaving, the strong young woman who would soon be celebrating her eighteenth birthday, would dare to dream for something more.

Author's Note: Hello Readers! Been a couple of years since I posted anything new on here as I've been hard working towards publishing my own originals. Though I still have a great love for fanfiction with plenty of story ideas in my arsenal to tell :). I'm excited for this Tangled fanfiction and can't wait to hear your thoughts on it as well! So let's go on this epic adventure together! Thanks for tuning in! -Gkmader

P.S: I feel inclined to point out the name of the kingdom in this story being Corona. It is Disney canon, but unfortunately shares the nickname of Covid-19. Not ever wanting to be insensitive to the current world events and the battle that ensues with this virus. With that said, I pray you are all healthy and enjoy this story nonetheless.
