Annabeth nervously glanced around the room, the harsh led lights flashing, illuminating her face. It was Friday night, and her and Luke have come to a party thrown by one of the football guys. She stood on her tiptoes, trying to see his face over the crowd, but shook her head in defeat when she couldn't see him. She took a sip from her cup, pulling a face at the strong vodka taste, and turned on her heel, making her way down the hallway, eager to find her boyfriend.

She really needed to talk to him. She knew she couldn't deny her feelings for Percy any longer, and she thought it was unfair to keep Luke trailing along while she had decided that she no longer wanted to be with him. She pictured the break up in her head, and couldn't imagine him being too upset by it. He rarely spent any time with her anyway.

She made her way to the kitchen, eyes falling on Ethan who grinned at her. She smiled in response and went to stand next to him, yelling over the music.

'Do you know where Luke is?'

Ethan shrugged and motioned upstairs, speaking in her ear.

'I think he went upstairs with Thalia!'

Annabeth frowned slightly before making her way to the stairs. They probably just went upstairs for a heart to heart, they had been friends a long time before Annabeth moved to New York, so they we're pretty close.

She stopped at the top of the stairs, eyes scanning past a couple who were making out against the railing. Some guy was being sick in the toilet, and his friends laughed around him as Annabeth turned her nose up.

She spun round to see a closed door, which she imagined was a bedroom. Ah, they must be talking in here.

She shoved past the couple and pushed open the door, eager to find her friends and talk to them.

Her heart dropped when she saw what was on the other side.

Thalia and Luke were on the bed, but they were definitely not talking. She was sat on his lap, and they were making out, his hands under her shirt.

Annabeth felt the tears spring into her eyes, and gasped.

'What the fuck.' She yelled.

Thalia and Luke flung back from each other, fear pooling into the pairs eyes when they saw the girl.

'Annabeth! This isn't what it looks like!' Thalia yelled, trying to compose herself and pulling her shirt back in place.

'Really?' Annabeth retaliated, tears dripping down her face. She felt like she couldn't breathe. 'Because it looks like you were about to fuck my boyfriend!'

Annabeth's heart raced as the pieces came together in her head. The dinner reservation Luke made. Thalia's secret boyfriend. She felt sick.

'No,' She whispered, betrayal marking her face.

Luke stood up, his eyes full of guilt. Thalia took a step towards her best friend, but Annabeth took a step away and Thalia felt her heart shatter.

'Annabeth Please. Im sorry!'

'You were my best friend! How could you?' she whispered, voice full of pain.

Luke opened his mouth to speak, nervously playing with his top.

'Beth, i'm really sorry.'

'No, you're not! I asked you if you were cheating, and you told me no! Why? Why make this go on longer than it needed to?'

Shame was present in his eyes.

Annabeth felt like the world was closing in around her. Panic filled her chest and she couldn't breathe, she gasped for air, tears dripping down her face, and Luke and Thalia watching guilty across the room.

Her gaze met theirs, and she shook her head.

'Never speak to me again.'

Thalia looked like she had been shot.

'Annabeth. Please let me expl-'

She was cut off by Annabeth, who turn and ran out the room and down the stairs, ignoring everyones questioning gaze, and left the house. She didn't stop until she was halfway down the street, where a sob escaped her and she sat down on the curb.

She pulled her legs into her chest and cried. She felt so alone.

She wasn't surprised Luke cheated, they already thought he was. But Thalia? She was her best friend, she never thought that she would hurt her like that.

She took out her phone, seeing Thalia ringing, and blocked both hers and Luke's number. They didn't deserve her tears.

She raised her watery eyes and glanced down the street.

Hesitantly, she raised her phone to her face and dialled the number.

'Hello?' Piper asked, 'Whats up?'

Annabeth gave a sob in response.

She could hear Piper grabbing her car keys, and telling someone she would be back soon.

'Annabeth, stay where you are. Im coming to get you.'

Piper knelt softly next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder, and silently watching as the tears fell down her face.

She felt like she could breathe again now, but her entire being was numb. She was sad, she was angry, she was hurt. Piper sat down and threw an arm over her shoulder, pulling her in for a hug.

They sat in silence for a moment, holding each other, before Annabeth looked sadly up at the girl.

'Can we go?'

Piper nodded and stood up, pulling Annabeth up with her. They walked to the car, and Piper turned the radio on, driving away from the house and leaving Luke and Thalia behind.

'Do you want to talk about it?' Piper asked softly, as a one direction song played through the speakers. Annabeth hesitated for a second, heart clenching.

'He cheated on me.' Annabeth said blankly. 'With Thalia.'

Piper let out a gasp and Annabeth could see the girl staring at her out the corner of her eye. She had a sad smile on her face, and grabbed Annabeth's hand, giving it a squeeze.

Annabeth was thankful for it, she felt like if Piper wasn't holding her, keeping her together, she would fall apart.

'I think this calls for McDonald's drive thru, don't you?'

Annabeth laughed slightly, sending Piper a watery smile as the girl pulled into a side street, making her way to the fast food chain.
