Percy's first impression of Annabeth's brothers was that they were cheeky. He could see that from a mile off, as he knock on the door and it swung open revealing a little boy - widest grin on his face.
'Hello there. Are you Annabeth's boyfriend?' He questioned Percy, peering up at the boy. Before Percy could open his mouth to reply another little boy ran up the hallway and shoved through the door, pointing up at him.
'Are you gonna marry my sister?' Matt yelled, causing his brother to fall into hysterics, giggles infecting the hallway.
'Ew! Thats gross!' Bobby replied, shoving his twin to the side. Percy couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face.
He knelt down so he was their height, grinning at the boys.
'I might marry her you know, would that be okay with you?' He raised a questioning eyebrow at the boys, who emitted another 'Ewww!' in response.
A cough interrupted him, and as he glanced up his heart stopped. Annabeth's dad was peering down at him, glasses covering his face and puzzled expression marking his features. He quickly shot up and composed himself, wiping his sweaty hands on his jeans and offering it out to her dad.
'Um, Hello Sir, I'm here to pick up Annabeth.'
Fredrick ordered Bobby and Matt to go back inside (who complained greatly), and cautiously shook Percys hand.
'Ah yes. She mentioned she was going out later. She didn't say it was a boy though.'
Percy smiled awkwardly as Fredrick analysed him.
'Where are you planning on going with my daughter?' He continued, causing Percy to freeze and nervously stuttered.
'Well - i'
'Dadd! Leave him alone!' Annabeth chuckled as she came down the stairs and gently shoved her way past him, smiling up at Percy.
'Hey you. You ready to go?' She asked, happiness in her eyes. Percy nodded in response.
She was wearing denim shorts and a cute white top, and Percy thought she looked stunning.
'Well, i suppose i'll leave you to it. Look after each other, and are you still staying at Piper's tonight?' Fredrick asked, watching Annabeth and Percy interact.
'Yeah, i should be back midday tomorrow. See you later!'
And with that, she grabbed Percys hand and pulled him away from her house and to his car, giving him enough time to say goodbye to her dad. He waved as they got in the car, and closed the door.
Annabeth let out a breath of relief as she slid into the passenger seat, smiling up at him.
'God I'm sorry, i lost track of time. I was planning on just meeting you our front, didn't want to subject you to that!'
Percys heart fell slightly as he glanced at the girl.
'You didn't want your dad to meet me?'
Her eyes widened and she sat up, quickly answering.
'No of course I did! Its not like that at all, i think you're great and know my parents would agree, it's just that-' she paused, unsure of how to finish.
Percy relaxed and squeezed her hand, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it gently.
'I understand. If you ever meet my dad i'll feel the same, and not because of you. We just - aren't close.'
She smiled up at him, slight amazement in her eyes.
'You understand me.'
They grinned at each other, before Percy glanced forward and started the drive, releasing her hand.
'So,' she asked, settling in her seat. 'Where are we going?'
He grinned at her, shaking his head.
'Surprise!'
————————————————————
Percy felt his heart exploding as he watched Annabeth look around. He could see the excitement in her eyes, and he swears he fell even deeper in love as she turned to smile at him.
He did do a pretty good job to be honest.
He had taken her to a beach that him and his mom had a cabin at. It was private and quiet, but still beautiful and had lots of room. He had came down earlier and set up a small picnic, which of course, his mom helped make. As soon as he told her about the date, she got so excited that she barely let him do anything himself. There were sandwiches, cookies, pizza, and lots of other snacks that Percy was excited to eat.
He smiled as Annabeth leaned up and kissed his cheek, her hand firmly holding his.
'You're insane. This is insane. I love it.'
She held such sincerity in her eyes that just made Percy melt and he pulled her down onto the blanket, smiling softly at her.
'I figured that you would prefer something like this rather than a restaurant or something. You probably wouldn't want fans taking pictures or whatever.' He answered, grabbing a coke for them both.
She accepted it from him, and grinned up at him.
'Im pretty sure you are my guardian angel. Theres no way you can't be.'
His heart swelled and he couldn't stop himself from leaning down and kissing her forehead. Her eyes widened briefly, before she relaxed and shuffled closer to him.
They talked for hours. They sat on the sand, watching the waves hitting the shore and ate some of the food. It was peaceful and Percy honestly couldn't remember a time he felt happier.
They eventually got onto the subject of their dads.
'Why is it that you were nervous for me to meet him?' Percy asked her, gazing up from where his head was resting in her lap. She had a faraway look in her eyes, as she glanced out to sea.
'I don't know -' she started as she played with his hair. 'It's not really him, he's the sweetest. We used to be super close after my mom got a divorce, i mean, it was just the two of us. But then he got remarried and i-'.
She paused as he voice broke slightly and Percy sat up to face her.
'He's changed. That's all. I still love him. And I'm thankful that he did remarry, i wouldn't have Bobby and Matt if not. It's just, i don't get on with Helen.'
Percy frowned and brushed a stray hair out of her face.
'Why not?'
She sighed and smiled at him softly.
'She doesn't like me. Ive tried. Like i offered to pay for their honeymoon, and i paid for some stuff for the wedding. I used to ask her to do things like shopping and stuff but she would always turn her nose up and say she was busy.'
Percy frowned as Annabeth continued.
'I think it's because i really look like my mom. And when she looks at me she just sees her, and shes constantly reminded of his past marriage.'
Percy nodded slowly and stared out to sea too.
'I get that.' He replied, causing Annabeth to glance at him.
'You do?'
'Yeah,' he continued, 'I really look like my dad. Thankfully my parents don't have an awful relationship, i mean, friends would be pushing it but they are on good terms for my sake. Paul is wonderful, he treats my mom so good but i did worry he wouldn't like me.'
Annabeth stayed silent as Percy carried on.
'He went out of his way to reassure me that he does. He asked my permission to marry mom. He made me best man. I don't know, I'm just really lucky i guess. Don't tell him but i really do love him.'
Annabeth smiled softly and squeezed Percy's hand.
'It used to upset me more than it did.' She spoke, staring up at him. 'But i just told myself I shouldn't have to try that hard to feel loved. I said that one day i would find people that loved me for me.'
He could feel his heart racing as she shuffled a little closer, legs resting over his. She smiled up at him, cupping his face, and her eyes softened.
'I think I've found them.'
Percy couldn't resist any longer. He leaned down, and their lips touched.
He had dreamed of this day for so long, and it was nothing like he imagined. It was better.
His hands curled around her waist, pulling her onto his lap and she sighed gently and wrapped her hands in his hair. Her lips were soft as they moved against his, and he could feel his heart pulsing in his neck. Her thumb brushed his cheek, as she kissed him back firmly. He could feel her body all against his, and he groaned she bit his lip gently.
It could've been minutes or hours till she pulled back, happiness in her eyes as she smiled at him shyly.
He grinned at her, and started pressing kisses all over her face, causing her to laugh.
'Percy!' She squealed and leaned back, causing him to laugh. He let out a sigh of happiness and stroked her hair, eyes soft.
'What?' She asked, arms wrapped around his neck.
'I have a massive crush on you, Annabeth Chase.'
A smile lit up her face and his heart pounded and she leant down and pressed another kiss to his lips.
'I have a crush on you too, Percy Jackson.'
She laughed as his lips shot up to kiss her again, and again and again and again.
Percy had never felt happier.
