Percy PoV
In the following six months after Thalia had awoken, things had been relatively ok. Monster attacks had been far and few in between but they had become organized. Monsters had begun strategizing on how to draw demigods away from camp and attack them when they were defenseless. Clarrisse, Thalia, and I had been extremely busy with training the campers and making sure they were all ready for combat or difficult situations. I had begun training in my abilities from Hecate, Thanatos, and Keres.
My abilities over necromancy were now crazy strong. In a separate reality there was only one demigod that could have beaten me with necromancy. That was Nico Di Angelo from the Cannon reality written by the one and only Rick Riordan. From Thanatos I had recieved invisibility and flight along with Neuroscience. Invisibility let me well, become invisible. I completely blended in with my surroundings. I also practiced moving, running, sneaking, and hiding silently. I was careful to not make noise, not even a crinkle of a leaf would be audible if I walked on the leaf.
I slowly had been practicing my flight abilities, even going so far as to encourage Thalia to practice as well. I had both practiced Levitaion, and Flight. Levitation floating normally off the ground as if walking on air, and flight with my wings. Thalia had eventually gotten past her fear of heights, although it was a slow process.
Neuroscience was by far my least favourite ability yet, I hated sensing, when, how, and where someone would die. I didn't like that I could see the faces of the people that I had grown to love as a family, and know when they would die. I hated it, I had saved multiple people from death sure, but for every life I had saved, ten others would take their place.
I discovered that I also had control over poisons, and had the ability to create a poison that was so strong and potent that only Immortals could heal it.
Using Hecate's blessing I had discovered that most of the Hermes cabin, were children of Minor gods. So I set about to work on the contruction of Minor gods cabins, only making one, when we found a demigod child of said minor god. I also used the blessing to use magic and witchcraft to aide myself in the mortal realm, so that I wouldn't be trapped by anything.
Using my self-taught skills of sticking to the shadows, and sneaking, I had taught other campers. Most of the Ares campers had begun to take stealth lessons, along with the Hermes cabin.. I had taught them to stick to the shadows, never waste a movement, and to never ever harm an innocent. We had essentially become assassins, but rather than harm the mortals, we would kill off monsters, as training missions. More times than naught, we ended up going into full combat, yet our skills increased with every successful mission. At somepoint the entire camp was participating in these missions, even the Aprodite cabin. We practiced the abilities of picking pockets, blending into crowds, armed and unarmed combat, alternative or multiple weapon attacks, stealth and public assassination techniques, free-running and long-range combat. We had become a militaristic society of assassins that could very well rival the hunters of Artemis.
Now its not to say that with these skills we have grown arrogant, quite the opposite actually. If there had been an enemy organization like this before we started training as such, we would have been wiped out quickly. So we were humble with our oppurtunities to learn, thanking one another for their teaching moments, and demonstrations. We respected one another, viewed them as immediate family, for some, a deeper connection. Chiron and Father(Mr.D), had stopped caring if we got into relationships as it helped us become better warriors. A customary thing for us to do to mark our membership of our Assassins order, was a silver ring with the assassins creed symbol on the top.
We go out in the real world every three days, to find any demigods to bulk our numbers, and to eliminate any monsters that were near us.
Beckendorf and I had been coming up with ideas for weapons designed for assassination, so that we would be ablet to do so.
Ares and I continued our sparring matches, we had added another twenty on to the total. I now had twenty eight wins to his thirty two wins. I was quickly nearing his skill level, yet I would always say he was superior, for one simple fact. In actual combat there are no rules.
Now, even with the new powers I had received I still trained and maintained my already existing powers. I didn't want to become dull and rusty. I didn't need to lock up in combat for being out of practice.
Clarrisse, Thalia, and I found ourselves outside the entrance to Westover hall. It was a military prep school, Grover had reported in that he had picked out the scents of two demigods. The scent was strong and a strong monster was also present, watching the kids, almost as if it was waiting for something.
We stood before the entrance of the building of all black stone, with towers and slit windows. A big set of wooden doors on the edge of a rocky, snowy unwelcoming cliff overlooking a big frosty forest at one side and a gray churning ocean on the other. I could feel a faint connection to both the ocean and the forest, allowing me a confort that I hadn't felt for months.
With nothing else to do we walked in to the building straight through the wooden doors. Each of us were dressed in our assassins clothing, but it would appear as the appropriate clothing to the mortals around us.
The inside is decorated with antique war paraphernalia: battle flags, old rifles, and medieval weapons. It screamed an image of military prep, it was almost home, almost.
A woman had soon approached us, presumably a teacher here at the school. A man that seemed to radiate danger stood next to her. He had heterochromic eyes(one blue, one brown), and grey hair. They were both dressed in camo despite only being a prep school.
"What are you three doing out here away from the dance?!" The woman asked, emphasizing "dance', showing an obvious distaste for the word.
Immediately I manipulated the mist, my blessing from Hecate strengthening the action. "We're students here Ms. We lost our way by accident. Would you mind pointing us to the gym?" I asked with both innocence and persuasion.
The womans tough facade started to fall and she let out a heavy sigh. "Very well, Vice-principal Dr. Thorn please direct, these, uh," She hesitated. I quickly muttered a chain of magic that implanted our names into her mind. She continued a moment later, "Please take Shado, Clarrisse, and Thalia here back to the dance." She spoke, giving an order.
The man looked hesitant, but nodded his head in understanding.
We were soon directed to a large gym, decorated heavily with dance decorations. Students ranging from highschoolers to middleschoolers stood around, not dancing, nor standing still. More like moving idly without a purpose. Although a posse of girls would swarm the occasional unlucky boy, covering him in makeup, lipstick, and other party related items. Dr. Thorn had left us as quickly as he had been with us. We kind of just stood there for a moment, before Grover who was in his disguise, came up to us. He was dressed in surprisingly enough, a tuxedo.
"The two demigods are on the bleachers, a brother and sister. The sister is older by a year. The monster is close, he is appearing as the vice-principle." Grover spoke in a hushed tone.
I nodded in acknowledgment toward his statement. In order to get a view of the two demigods, I'd have to blend in, and what better way to blend in at a dance, then to dance with your girlfriend.
I offered my hand out to Clarrisse who without hesitation grabbed it and joined me on the gym floor. She had understood my plan without it needing to be said.
Thalia grabbed Grover's hand and started to dance with him, he occasionally stepped on Thalia's foot causing her to let out a curse. The music had turned soft, and slow, the dancing around us had likewise turned soft, and slow, setting a romantic picture.
Clarisse rested her head on my chest as I finally saw the two demigods in the bleachers.
A girl and a boy, ages eleven and ten. Each had blonde hair, and sky blue eyes. They had small identical scars trailing down from their left eye. After a short while of studying them, I turned back to Clarrisse, admiring her beauty. She was a strong girl, independent, a strong warrior, a strong assassin, and a ruthless soldier when angered. I looked back toward the demigod siblings and found them gone. I sighed, stopping in my dance. Clarrisse noticed their disappearance as well. She left quickly to warn Thalia and Grover while, I felt through the shadows for traces of the two demigods. I took me only but a moment as I found them, they were being led down a hall by Dr. Thorn, the monster we were worried about.
I quickly and silently caught up to them. I activated my shield and trident, the barely audible clink of moving metal, caused the monster to shift form and attack me. His tail hit my shield with a powerful strike. Luckily enough the strike didn't do anything to dent or scratch my shield. The monster that I know recognized as the manticore looked afraid, as if he was surprised he couldn't pierce the metal before him. I went for a thrust with my trident at the same time as shoving forward with my shield. I knocked the monster back and nicked his fur coat. He passed through a ray of light from the moon, revealing a hideous beast. It was a lion, with a multispiked scorpion tail.
I huddled the two demigods behind me, protecting them with my shield. The manticore started throwing spikes at my, each hitting and bouncing off my shield. I gave the shield to the girl to protect the two of them. I traded my trident out for my twin hunting-daggers, made from the same materials as the rest of my weapons. I started deflecting more of the spikes, trying to get closer to the stupid beast. I heard running coming from behind me, I grinned, knowing that they were Clarisse, Thalia and Grover. However before we could do anything a silver arrow sliced through the air and clipped the beast in the shoulder.
"The mighty Shado Jackson graces me with his presence. The general will be pleased if I eliminate you." the manticore suddenly wailed out, "NO! This is unfair, you're not allowed to do this! Gods cannot interfere, it goes against the ancient laws." I scoffed in my head, "Ancient Laws! Ha! Don't make me laugh, they don't exist, they merely "in place" so the gods don't have to get their hands dirty." I though to myself.
A silken voice called out in response, "It is allowed, as my domain is the hunt; and you vile beast are apart of that hunt. Take aim!" By now, a large number of girls dressed in silver stood near the forest next to the school. Each dressed in silver parkas, and camo clothing. The girls all had taken out their bows and had arrows notched, quicker than the eye could see.
The sound of arrows being pulled back on the bows could be heard even from this far.
However being so close to the beast, we were in danger of being hit. I moved to get out of the way and so did Thalia. Clarrisse hadn't come to this realization yet. A command of "Fire!" was given out and the thwacking sound of fifty arrows being fired into the night sky filled our ears.
The manticore took his chance grabbing onto Clarrisse's shirt and bringing her with him as he jumped over the side.
My eyes widened in terror. A scream of "NOOO!" escaped my lips. I instantly had my bow in hand, multiple arrows already fired toward the monster. I was about to fly into the air after them but I was blinded by a helicopter light. I quickly fired an arrow into the blade joint and it promptly fell to the water below. I looked down at the water below, the manticore and Clarrisse were gone.
I spoke quietly, "I'll see you again my love, just you wait. The filth of this world will not keep me from you, I swear it." A small rumble filled the air around me.
I turned around to see that the girls in silver were closer now. Their features clearer, their hair seemed to glow silver in the moonlight. These were definitely the hunters of Artemis.
Thalia seemed to be in an argument with a hunter, oddly enough it was about the era's of english. In my mind I felt as if I knew her, I put it away for later as I had other things to worry about. I quite frankly didn't care, vengeance was in my mind, and I wouldn't stop until it was fulfilled. That was when it finally clicked, this was the hesperaide that I directed toward Artemis's group of hunters after the recent betrayal of Heracles.
The other huntresses began setting up their camp, their numbers from my observations were around fifty in number, two huntresses in each tent.
Soon another huntress came up to Zoe, who was the huntress arguing with Thalia, Mark, Ania, and I. "My lady would like to speak with you all." Without any extra words she began to lead us away toward a tent that was set up in the center of said camp.
Zoe spoke out to whoever was inside, "My lady, shall we enter?"
A melodic voice replied, "You may enter, Zoe, you as well Demigods." Zoe promptly walked through the flap of the tent. Since we had no other choice, and we couldn't defy the order of a goddess, we entered into the tent.
As I entered into the tent, my sight gave way to reveal a standard tent bathed in a soft golden light originating from a lantern. A deer's head hung on the tent wall just above a cot that was covered in animal skin blankets. In another corner stood a mahogany dresser outlined in silver. On a rack next to the dresser hung a bow that radiated beauty and grace, and yet it glowed in a deadly light. Beneath the bow, next to leather sheathes, lay two beautiful daggers, gleaming in silver light, silver and gold were intricately carved into the silver blade itself. Their blades could probably slice through the thickest of ropes.
A girl around the age of twelve with strikingly beautiful auburn hair sat on the cot. I instantly knew that this was no ordinary twelve-year-old girl, or should I say goddess.
I knelt down on the ground my head bowed deeply showing that she was greater than I, on the demigod side of things at least.
I could almost feel the confusion on Mark and Ania's faces, yet I could feel the stares of the two women in the tent. One was as if boring daggers of hatred into my back, and the second was a slight hint of respect for knowing my place. How I wished I could wipe the smirks off their faces.
"My lady Artemis, thank you for aiding us in the defeat of the beast." I spoke with false gratitude.
The goddess hummed for a moment and spoke a moment later, "You're welcome boy. I must ask what was said in your encounter of the beast." She demanded in a snarky tone, emphasizing the word boy with distaste.
I nodded slowly. "The only thing the manticore was able to speak before you all came my lady, was 'Ah Perseus Jackson, the General will pleased if I kill you here and now.'"
Zoe and Artemis shared a near imperceptible look to each other at the mention of the general.
Zoes spoke next, fear creeping into her tone, "Are you sure he said General?"
Still kneeling on the ground, I nodded my head and said, "Yes, it was clear as day."
"Hmm, so the ancient things are rising, this is not good. I must go search for them, hunt them if need be." Artemis muttered to herself. "Demigods, get your rest, I will meet with you all again in the morn."
We nodded in silence, and quickly left the presence of the Moon Goddess. Afterward we returned to a small section of tents that had been put up for us. Thalia and Ania had their own tent, while Grover, Mark, and I shared the other. I put my bedding closest to the door, so if anyone came in here to harm us, I would be in harm's way first as opposed to the other two.
That night was filled with another dream.
Dreamscape
After the events on Pandora as the humans there had come to call it, I felt a pulling in my gut and mind. I looked around my surroundings expecting to see another Na'vi trying to attract my attention. No one else was around me. The tree of souls stood next to me, yet no one stood before it praying. There was a slight tug in my mind, pulsing every couple of moments. The tug in my gut was as if I was using a large amount of my powers, almost causing nausea.
I sat down and began to meditate, tracking the tug on my mind. I delved into the realm of reality and the multiverse. My mind traversed the infinite realities, and the infinite universes, tracking the tug on my mind. After a span of many hours, I finally closed in on the reality and multiverse that it was originating from. To my surprise it was from the place my mortal body had been born. The tug on my mind wasn't a tug but rather an outcry of many voices calling upon my name. Asking for help. The gods had put away their arrogance, and cried out for help. The demigods, now few in number, prayed for help or in some cases death. Their comrades' bodies lay strewn across a battlefield, blood, limbs, teeth, claws, limbs, and golden dust litter the battlefield. Yet, despite the fight the demigods had put up, a massive front of monsters stood atop a large hill staring down at a group of demigods only thirty-nine in number. There were some I knew in the small crowd, as some were immortal to teach the newer generations. Others were young, merely seven. Any demigod that had been younger, had been slaughtered. The satyrs and other wildlife lay on the ground, mixed colors of blood and bodily fluids flooded out onto the grounds. The monsters were led by an all too familiar sight. Two godly beings I thought I had made fade. Kronos and Gaea stood there looking at the demigods with anger and malice in their eyes. Anger welled up within me, letting my thoughts roam out into the tribes and clans of the navi. I could feel the anger and their desire to protect the young ones, despite being a different race. Warriors, and non-warriors alike began gathering to me. The wildlife of Pandora likewise gathered closer, awaiting my command. I opened my eyes and stood, meeting the eyes of all the Na'vi, and the wildlife of pandora. Words didn't need to be spoken. They understood my unsaid command. All that were gathered before me quickly climbed onto the backs of animals or gathered their weapons. Banshees, Viperwolves, Direhorses, Titanothere, and the two Leonopteryx, also readied themselves. All of them simultaneously closed their eyes, as I flashed all of us toward my "home" planet. The air there was breathable for the Na'vi people.
Kronos Pov
We stood upon a hill looking at the last of the demigods. We watched as they kneeled on the ground in despair, almost as if praying. Dead bodies litter the field, and the stench of iron lingered heavily in the air. Mother stood by my side as I led our army to end the demigods once and for all, and then from there, we would storm Olympus.
"Monsters! Long have we existed only to be slaughtered like cattle. Long have we tried to defend ourselves, and long have we watched as demigods are proclaimed as heroes for their battle prowess, yet they are merely serial killers. They are angry because we have killed thousands of demigods without any hesitation, yet they do not realize they too have killed us. But as opposed to their thousands, they have killed millions with no hesitance, no care, and no batting of a lash. They don't care if they are murderers for they are proclaimed as heroes! Let us test the final stand of the heroes." I spoke out to my army letting my words sink into the mass of monsters. I watched as fear and realization dawned on the demigods' faces. The monsters began to rile up, excitement, anger, and rage filling them.
I took a deep breath, and yelled, "CHARGE!" The mass of monsters surged forward running with a bloodthirst that would seem unquenchable. The rumble in the ground caused by the running of the monsters was astounding, anyone would have trouble maintaining their stance. I looked over at the mother who looked conflicted, as if she was afraid, and was weighing her options.
Suddenly I felt it. The atmosphere around us seemed to blaze with both heat and cold. The skies turned dark and stormy. Storms started raging across the sky, and the waves from the seas turned violent. The earth trembled mightily, and mother gave a shout of pain as her form flickered. Time seemed to slow. When I tried to return it to normal, nothing happened. It was then that lightning began to strike the ground, specifically my army. Plantlife regrew quickly, monsters began to turn into ghosts left and right. Fire and Ice began to spread among the ranks of my monster army. The bodies of dead demigods began to rise up and take up their weapons and fight. Suddenly a rumbling came from the sky. The clouds of the storms parted to reveal a massive star falling toward the earth. The sheer gravitational force and the amount of heat that it radiated squashed and burned any and all monsters in its direct path. Yet the demigods stood unharmed. They stood tall, and energized, as if relieved from battle. It was then that the star impacted the earth, and a large crater was formed.
Silence reigned on the battlefield as confusion spread. I myself was confused.
It was only when the cries of animals that I'd never heard cried out did I finally understand. Someone had come to help the demigods.
I commanded my army to surge forward, to go forward and overwhelm them. It was only then that the power was unleashed fully. It crushed us into the ground, effectively making us kneel. The earth shook, plants and wildlife shuddered, the inhabitants of the earth cowered in their homes in fear of an apocalypse. The skies and mountain tops shook with rage. Some of the weaker monsters burst from the sheer presence.
Even my power couldn't compare to the power of this being. The difference was like comparing a singular ant(Kronos) to a giant(Shado). Mother kneeled next to me, her face in obvious pain. Mother had only experienced this amount of pain twice. Once from Chaos as a punishment for the birth of the giants, and the second from Perseus "Shado" Jackson. It was unlikely that it would be Chaos, so it had to be Perseus Jackson, or more accurately the Ancient.
Instantly fear and anger flooded through me. Fear from the fact that I would be fighting a being older than the creator, and anger from the fact that he beat me when he was a mere demigod.
Soon the crater that had formed faded away, the land going back to normal. But my fear soon returned, as the fading crater revealed an army of creatures that were obviously foreign to this planet. Wolves that looked like combinations of panthers and other canine animals, horses that had six legs and many eyes. A dragon-like bird, including two larger ones, and a combination of an elephant, rhino, and hammerhead. Then there were the ten foot tall blue people, equipped with bows and knives. Some were on the backs of animals. One was on the back of the orange and red dragon-like creature, while Perseus was on the black one, his size four times the other blue people. With an inhumane scream the otherworldly army charged toward us.
Dreamscape end
I awoke with a startled cry. I looked around my surroundings trying to remember where I was. My mind was flooded with memories of the previous day, of the dance, the small battle with the manticore, the interference of the hunters, and the capture of Clarisse. Anger flooded my mind at the memories of the capture of my girlfriend. The air inside the tent started to heat up to an uncomfortable degree, and ice started forming on the tent floor. Plants started growing through the fabric and ripped through the sidewalls of the tent, letting the cold winter air flood the inside of the tent. It was then that Zoe made herself known.
"Shado Jackson, my lady would like to speak with you all again." Her cold voice is devoid of life and emotion. She spoke as if she was doing the worst of menial tasks.
Caught off guard by the voice I quickly calmed my emotions, the air cooled, the floor unfroze with ice, and the plantlife returned to normal leaving the rips in the fabric. "Okay, we will be there in a moment, I have to wake up the rest of our group." I spoke out to the Huntress that I had saved all those years ago.
Zoe left a moment later leaving me to the silence of the morning. The sound of chirping birds echoing from the forest near us, and the sound of crinkling snow was fresh in my ears. I grumbled underneath my breath, "Stupid gods."
I got up and woke Grover and Mark; we got dressed quickly and departed to Artemis' tent.
It was still dark out when I emerged from our tent. The early morning breeze was accompanied by an icy chill. The dew on the grass outnumbered by the snowfall. The branches swayed lightly in the wind, and the occasional leaf would fly away from its tree. Crackling of burning fires could be heard along with the pleasant smell of firewood smoke, and the smell of cooked food. Off in the distance the screeching of deer and elk alike could be heard. The scampering of heavy and light paws on the crunchy snow likewise could be heard.
Full blown conversations died down to hushed whispers as Thalia, Ania, Mark, Grover, and I walked toward the central tent. We eventually made it to the tent and heard Artemis speaking to someone, "I understand….. Yes, I will set out to hunt it as soon as possible…..Yes Father." So it's Zeus that she was talking to, interesting.
After a few minutes of silence I made ourselves known to the Moon Goddess. "My lady, you said last night that you wished to speak with us this morning. We are here now, if you wish to speak with us." I called out to Artemis.
"You may enter demigods." Was all the reply we got.
We entered the tent, not wanting to anger the moon goddess.
"You all are here for a couple of things. Firstly, I am to be away for a while, which means I will have the hunt stay at camp half-blood for a while. While the hunt is at camp half-blood I want you to protect them. Secondly, I have questions for Ania and Thalia, though that can wait until Mark and Grover leave. Finally, I want to make sure that Grover, Mark, and Perseus understand not to look at, touch, or even speak wrongly toward my hunters. Is that understood?" Artemis received multiple nods as her answer.
Grover and Mark soon left, leaving Thalia, Ania, and I inside the tent with a stern looking goddess. "Now my question for Thalia and Ania. Would you like to become one of my hunters?"
Thalia looked pained. Ania looked curious but had a question, "What would it entail?"
"You would receive partial immortality, you would be stronger and faster than the average demigod. You would have exceptional skills at archery, and be able to hunt freely. Though you must swear off the company of men, and swear off love." Artemis spoke, excited and nervous in her tone.
Ania frowned, "Even my brother?"
Artemis didn't speak but nodded her head.
"Ania," Ania turned toward me, "don't abandon your brother. He will feel betrayed, and there is a chance he will never see you again, and you him." I said, traces of my speaking habits from long before leaking into my speech.
Meanwhile Thalia had a frown on her face, her eyes boring into the ground. "Thalia," her eyes met the goddess', "you don't have to answer now, because I know you will be an important part of the next couple of weeks, but I do expect an answer at some point. Ania, what is your answer dear?"
"I," Her eyes met mine for a brief second before looking down guiltily. I didn't stick around to hear the rest, as anger began to flood my system. I stormed out of the tent as quickly as I could. Thalia as well left the tent, seeing my anger.
I could faintly hear Thalia's footsteps behind me, she was calling out my name repeatedly. Her calls fell on deaf ears as I stood at the edge of the cliff. I stared at the ocean waves lapping lazily on the rocky shoreline beneath me. I sank to my knees as a cry of anger escaped my lips.
Immediately the waves turned violent as they started to freeze. The air warmed slightly as the earth trembled, and everything near me turned into ice. Columns of jagged and spiky ice littered the ground like a maze without an exit. Bones could be seen from within the ice, and the plants seemed to both grow and decay.
It was only then when I felt Thalia's hand rest on my shoulder that I looked up at the black haired teen. My emotions calmed slightly as I stared up at the face of my friend. She gave me a sympathetic look that essentially said, "I understand your pain, because I've felt it."
Of course it wasn't my pain, but rather the pain I wished I could prevent. How could one abandon their own family? Two siblings alone in the world, forced to rely on one another, and the second one receives an offer of a better life, they just decide to leave the other in the trash waiting to be picked up or offered help. It made me angry, rightfully so, as I could hear the frantic running of Mark. His footsteps fell heavy in the crunchy snow. His cries of despair and sadness filled the air.
So that is what we did, we just sat their on the cliffside, staring out at the ocean. Waiting for dawn to come. Mark eventually joined us, looking slightly creeped out at the ice spikes. It was only when the sun seemed to become brighter and hotter, and astoundingly closer did we return to the camp.
We returned to the camp in time to hear someone say, "Little Sis! How long has it been?"
Although I cut out the rest of the conversation as one thing was on my mind. Clarisse.
"I swear I will get you back my love." I spoke to the air.
