CHAPTER 1 Free Falling

From the day I was born I've always felt like I was destined to be average, nothing bad but nothing notably great either. Wake up, go to work, I'm not a lazy person and I don't have an issue with working for a living. It's just the endless cycle that gets to me,so far I have found many things that relieve that boredom and repetitiveness in my life. I love any type of media and watch them religiously, sports have always been fun. It's just lately I've had this itch that couldn't quite scratch and I don't know what it is.

The newest and most exciting aspect of my life is leaving my hometown for the first time, flying over the sea to a country I've only ever heard spoken about or read online. It was truly a mystical experience to be offered a job in a place you've never been.

We are currently just over the Atlantic ocean, and it's most definitely a beautiful sight. Clouds bigger than mountains, blue sea that seems like it could go on infinitely, the sun rising to its zenith. Truly a sight worth remembering.

It was minutes later that I heard a loud explosion coming from the left side of the plane, I jumped from my seat to veer through the window. Smoke, the entire left side of the plane is on fire, everyone around me is panicking. We're too far out for help and everyone knows that fact. Knowing you're going to die is definitely an unpleasant experience. Looking around me I realize there's only two types of people when something like this happens. Those that panic and try fruitlessly to find a way to save themselves, then there's those that accept it and just lower their heads to wait for what's coming.

Me though, I'd like to go out in a dramatic fashion. Like some action hero, I reach into my jacket pocket and pull out a cigarette, light it then jump out of the emergency hatch. I've never tried skydiving in my life, but I'd have to say they're the only people that have experienced the freedom one feels falling from thousands of feet in the air. Even though I know I'm gonna die in a few minutes I can't help but smile. The view is impossibly beautiful from this angle.

I can feel the wind blowing over me, the cool breeze over my skin. I feel a drop of water fall onto my face, my eye's shoot open immediately. I look around frantically trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I'm surrounded by nothing but desert sands and a clouded sky. I start freaking out, how is this possible that wasn't a dream I definitely died there's no possible way I could have survived falling from thousands of feet in the sky.

'No, there's no way' I say to myself as I see the floating box. I've read about this once, rpg turned real life but I never thought it could actually be possible. I guess there's only one way to find out if I'm just going crazy or not. 'Status'?

'Very funny' I intone with a scowl, alright I'm in the middle of nowhere with nothing to help me and no protection. Wait… 'inventory'?

Thank the force, I have a RG-4D blaster pistol, a Beskad along with 50,000 credits. Starter pack I'm guessing, probably the only freebies I'll ever get. I strap the pistol holder onto my left hip and Beskad's scabbard on my right hip, actually now that I think about it. I throw my sword 10 feet away, it's time to try something all star wars fans have dreamed of. I concentrate my focus directly to the hilt, I imagine a hand reaching out to grab hold of the blade to bring it to me. I open my eyes to see the sword grasped firmly in my hand. I can't help but smile.

'Well that was a lot for a little gimmick I was just trying out' I intone, chuckling slightly, but back the matter at land I still don't know where the Kriff I am. I guess maybe I can start to be corny, the force guides you after all. I flip my sword in the and watch as it lands pointing directly left, I pick up my sword and begin walking aimlessly.

I've been walking for almost 2 hours now, the sky has finally cleared but I really wish it hadn't. I have never sweat so much in my life, of all the places to drop me into, why did it have to be a desert planet. In the distance I can see an unnatural rock formation about six miles from my current position. Hoping for the best, I changed course and headed directly for it. It was five minutes later that I noticed something charging straight at me towards my right. It was thirty feet away when I realized what the hell it was, a kriffing T-rex with no neck. I focused on him to get ready for his attack at the speed it's going there's no way I could out run it. When it came on to me it stopped and observed me for a minute or so as I did the same. It was then I noticed the title above its head. 'Blurrg Lvl 5 HP 200/200''.

{NEW SKILL UNLOCKED}

OBSERVE-ALLOWS THE USER A GLIMPSE OF THE NATURE OF ANYTHING THE USER CAN SEE.

I was distracted momentarily by the pop up and Blurrg took the opportunity when he saw it, charging at me at an impressive speed I just barely had enough time to roll out of the way. I didn't get out unscathed however as I looked down and saw a gash in my right arm.

-5 HP

I jump back to my feet immediately as the monster goes for another charge, this time I'm ready though as I dodge to the left and pull out my blaster. As I'm falling to the side I land 2 shots to its side that cauterize instantly. I look to notice he's taken 40 damage to my shots, but to me it only seemed to anger it farther. It changes its charge at the last second to lunge to the left attempting to take a large bite out of me, but somehow I felt somewhat of a sixth sense that warned me of his attempt. As I jump up to dodge his bite I release my sword and in one fluid motion stab it directly into his back.

'Was that the force' I can't help but ask myself as I look over to see the Blurrg on its side riving in pain. Critical -120HP, I slowly walk up to it with my blaster out and in three shots the blurrg is out of its misery.

+75XP

'Beginners luck or the force cutting me a break' I don't know but I'm not going to question my luck right now. I'm so close to the weird rock formation that I realize that I've been traveling to a city built into an above ground crater. It looks oddly familiar, but I can't place where I've seen it before. There's a gate cut out of the rock that I can only assume is the entrance to the city. I come up to where two gate guards are standing watch.

" I've never seen you before state your name and purpose for entering the Holy city" the one on the right with blonde hair and a pudgy build.

"My name is Roy Walker, I'm looking for room and board as well as supplies" I tell the guards honestly.

"I see, there's a nice inn off the main street across from the old market. It's only about 10 minutes straight down this road, you should find everything you need there son." The older bald man on the left informs me.

"Thank you I really appreciate the help" I tell them with a smile as I head into the city.

"No problem just stay out of trouble kid and enjoy your stay in the Holy City of Jedha" The same man tells me with a wave.

My eyes shoot wide open immediately, the moon planet Jedha, suspected origin of the jedi order. Shit if I'm here then what time period am I in. I rush to the market to try and acquire a data pad, hopefully with that I'll be able to figure everything out.

Information floods into my mind at an insane pace, feet placement, timed force pushes, enhanced speed slashes, and parrying. Even with this knowledge I know that with my current abilities, I can't even hope to utilize this immediately, sadly that will have to wait. I need to find the market as quickly as possible to get a basis for what I can do now with the knowledge I have.

I arrive at the market shortly after and head straight for what looks like an electronic stand, I walk up to shady looking man in his late 40's

"Hello, I was wondering if you had a data pad for sale," I asked the guy.

"Yes sir I do, this one is brand new for only 150 credits" The shady man tells me with a mischievous smile.

"85 credits" I try to haggle with him.

"110 and I won't go a credit under kid" he tells me with a note of finality.

"Deal, hey mister you wouldn't happen to know where the closest inn would be would you, it's kind of my first time on Jedha" I ask him as I hand over the credits.

"The names Jeremiah kid, and the closest one would be the Shepherds Inn about five minutes down that way" He points down the road directly behind me.

"Thank you man, I'm Roy it was nice to meetcha" I tell him with a grin as I head out.

I head down the roads just as he told me to, until I come up to a large hotel building with the sign 'Shepherds Inn' at the top. I head in to be greeted by a beautiful receptionist.

"Hello, welcome to Shepherd's Inn, would you like to rent a room?" she asks me with a salesman's smile.

"Yes please, I was hoping to rent for a one month period" I told her with a smile.

"Well lucky you, there's currently a sale on rooms for clients that will be spending a large amount of time here. It will be 900 credits for one month. Breakfast and dinner will be included everyday of your stay" she tells me as she goes into the data pad on her desk to write down the information and totals before she hands me a key.

"Thanks, I appreciate it" I tell her with a smile as I head towards my room.

Heading into my room I immediately sit on the couch and switch on the data pad, the first order of business is to see the date and see how the events are unfolding. It takes me only about five minutes to get a grasp on the situation. The year is 7953 of the C.R.C calendar, it seems I've been transferred between episode I and II. It's currently two years before the clone wars begins, the Sepertist movement have begun to catch stride and some planets have already left the republic to accept their rule. Undoubtedly Count Dooku has turned and is the reason the Separatists are gaining any traction at all, aside from Sidious of course.

Now the real question is what do I do, should I join the republic, warn the Jedi, or stay out of it completely. The bright side of my situation is that I have time, two years to make a move if I decide to. For now I think I'm just going to completely focus on myself. I know alot of basic training the Jedi would use and tricks to get some things down, but will that really be enough to make a difference. The bad thing is the Jedi order would never even consider training me because of my age, so there really ain't much of a choice there. Maybe the system can be that bridge to learn but I doubt it, I really think I just got extremely lucky with the Ataru forms. For now my main focus will be mastering force powers and making a lightsaber. Damn, I just realized I need to find some sort of income, maybe I can hunt and sell monster corpse to somebody in the city, knock out two birds with one stone.

With a sigh I lay down on my bed, it really has been a long kriffing day.

The next morning I decided to head into town to try to find somebody that could offer me a job. In my old life I was an engineer, my hope is to either find part time work building and fixing mechanics or monster hunting. I come to realize I only have one real contact in this city so far, so with stride I head towards Jerimahia's stand.

"Read the sign Roy, no returns unless it's the same day" Jeremiah tells me with a sigh.

"Why would I try to return something that was brand new?" I ask him with a laugh.

"Oh of course, then what can I do for you today" he tells me skittishly.

"I was actually wondering if you knew where I could sell monster corpse's and if there's a mechanic shop around here that needs an extra hand?" I asked him curiously.

"So you're a novice bounty hunter huh kid? Well there is the Kraken guild that posts bounties for creatures found and killed, but from what I heard you'd have to haul all the animals yourself so you'd need to get a fairly large speeder truck first. Just getting started will cost you around ten thousand credits. It's not a get rich quick scheme like the Holo movies would try to tell you. But as for mechanics, the shop right there across from my stand is hiring somebody for a few days a week. Apparently one of the repairmen caught the Galactic flu a few nights back." he tells me with a thoughtful look.

"Thank you, I really appreciate the help" I tell Jereimah as I set 10 credits on his stand before heading to the mechanics shop across the street.

"No problem kid, stay out of trouble" he tells me as I walk off.

I walked up to the two story shop with the sign 'Rigors mechanics and repairs', heading into the shop I noticed a grease filled Ugunaughtian manning the counter.

"Hello, welcome to Rigors mechanics what can I do for you today" Rigor asked me.

"Hi, my name is Roy and I heard in the city that you need an extra hand in your shop. I was wondering if you'd be willing to teach me, I've been around machines all my life I just need help on the finer details" I tell him honestly.

"It's possible, I might be able to apprentice you but only if you accept a few conditions. First you must take these books and read through all of them. After you have done that you can help me on the weekends with orders. If you perform satisfactorily, I'll hire you and pay you well." he tells me with a kind smile.

"Thank you sir I really appreciate you giving me a chance. I was also wondering if you had a speeder truck for sale." I ask him curiously.

"I might, but those don't come cheap kid. I have an A-A5 in the hanger that a guy asked me to fix up but he never came back. Store policy is if it takes you longer than a month to pick up your order it's shop property. But with everything I've done to it I couldn't sell it to you for less than fifteen thousand credits, and honestly you might find something cheaper over at Jacks shipyard." he tells me honestly.

"Is it modified?" I asked him wondering why it cost so much.

"Modified? No Roy that thing has been rigged up, military grade shielding, dual reactor engines, multiple AI controlled turrets, and an A-5 grade navigation system. To be honest, those modifications alone cost twelve thousand on a truck that size, selling it for less would just be bad business." he tells me with a note of finality.

It might be a lot but I intend to use it to hunt and transport monsters, it'd be stupid to buy something incredibly cheap and it break down without me currently able to fix it. Knowing this man is an accomplished mechanic it's probably going to be completely worth the price. "I'll take it" I tell him as I hand over fifteen thousand onto the counter. I notice his eyes go wide at the amount of credits I gave him, but he takes them all and hands me a ship title and keys.

"Follow me, the truck is docked on the hanger above the shop" he tells me as I follow him up the stairs.

"Force, that thing looks like a death machine" I tell Rigor. It was painted jet black with chrome weapons sticking out every couple feet. Rigor punches a couple keys into the entrance pad until it shoots open with a satisfying sound.

"The control's to open the hatch to the storage area is located here, the cockpit is directly in front of us, the truck comes outfitted with a kitchen and bedding area. With the dual reactor engines the truck can reach upwards of 400 miles per hour." Rigor informs me of the specs, he proceeds to show me how to activate the shields and the weapons.

"You may, if need be, dock your truck in the hanger for as long as you are employed" He tells me with a nod.

"Thanks boss, I really appreciate everything" I tell him as I begin to work the controls for the navigation system.

"So kid, what did you need the truck for in the first place? You're not some worthless smuggler are you?" He asks me suspiciously.

"No sir, I'm actually going to apply at the guild for a bounty license to hunt monsters, I needed a method of transport to hunt." I tell him honestly.

"Well I guess be careful, I wouldn't want my newest hire to die on his first day" he tells me with a laugh as he heads back down to the shop.

Looking over the controls I'm surprised as to how close this resembles vehicles from my world, they're not exactly the same though. Reading through the manual I realize that most of the levers are to control the repulsion systems while the pedals control the overall speed. With a little fear I turn on the engines and pull the repulsor lever down, as I lower the lever I slowly rise. With the navigation running I plot the course to the Kraken guild hanger. With the push of the pedal I'm blasting off towards the guild at a crazy speed.

After a couple near misses I arrive at the Kraken guilds hanger, I leave the truck to head towards the desk located in the front of the guild hall. I arrive to a older man who's eyeing me oddly as I step to the desk.

"Hi, my name is Roy. I was hoping to receive a bounty license and to take a couple jobs."

"It will be 500 credits for the license, and the jobs are posted on the board directly behind me. To take a job you must ok it with me first. I'm Carlos the guild's manager, it's a pleasure" he tells me with a handshake.

I hand over the credits and fill out the pamphlet sheet of information for the licensing process. After about twenty minutes of this process and constantly annoying Carlos with questions, I'm finally a certified bounty hunter.

'Woah' I intone. At Least fifty quests accepted at once, I realize that there are three types of quests in the bounty form. Amount of bounties done, Credits earned in a single mission, and total credits earned through bounty missions. Obviously the third gives the most valuable rewards but they are also the hardest to complete.

It seems there are only quests to attack monsters and hunt down people, I'm not so foolish as to think I'm ready to fight someone shifty enough to earn a bounty, yet. So with a sigh I pick the Bounty I have at least some form of experience with.' Kill or capture 10 Blurrgs for 5,000 credits'

"Hey are you sure, those things are dangerous. Do you even know how fast they are?" Carlos asks me with worry on his face.

"Yeah I do, I killed one yesterday on my way into the city, that's why I picked it because I have experience dealing with them" I tell him seriously.

"Dammit kid, at least go buy a rifle and a couple of impact grenades from the armory, guild member get a discount so there's that" he said seriously

I take him up the offer as I head to the armory and buy an E-5 automatic blaster rifle, a couple flash and impact grenades. It really wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be, only 700 credits. So with my weapons ready and a new car I give Carlos my thanks as I head out.

The poster gave me an idea of where to find them, this planet is home to many species from Desert Razorbacks to Banthas. Some species live side by side while others have set territories they guard, apparently the Blurrgs guard an oasis in the desert about 300 miles east of the Holy city. Why was one all the way out near the city yesterday? I have no Idea. For now though I use my 3 stat points and stick them all into wisdom as well equip the title.

I'm about five miles out when I see my first target. I lower my truck to the ground trying my best not to alert him, as soon as I exit I realize I wasn't as subtle as I hoped I was. It began charging at me at first sight, I quickly withdrew my rifle and bombard it with blaster shots. I hit it ten times before he made it onto my position and attacked exactly like the last one, I dodge to the left and immediately drew my sword to stab it into his unguarded side. The Blurrg lurches back when my blow connects, he turns to look directly down the barrel of my RG-4D. With one shot it falls over dead.

So the experience points for kills do vary by my level to the foes, as well as the species and difficulty of the kill. I found three more I killed exactly the same way and loaded them onto the truck, it wasn't until a while later I found a group of six herded together. I approach cautiously as I go into the satchel holding my grenade, I toss a flash grenade right into the center of the herd. They all turned to look at what fell by them, sniffing it cautiously, before it exploded and blinding them all. I ran straight into the herd, disabling all of them with slashes to the back of their knees. When they started to regain their senses I dropped an impact grenade near all of them before I took off running behind a boulder and raised my rifle waiting for the smoke to clear from my surprise attack. When the smoke begins to settle and I see the first sign of a grey body I begin shooting and I don't stop until the gun begins to overheat. I can't help but smile as I look over my prey, this world really is kriffing awesome.

"Carlos I'm here to collect, they're all in the storage on my truck" I tell him with a deadpan expression, I guess I can't really blame him I did show up out of the blue.

"There's no way it's only been four hours," he told me unconvinced.

Eventually I dropped off the monster into the guild to be taken away by workers. Carlos looked at me in a different light as he handed over my first bounty payment.
