Chapter 3 The invasion
Today I found myself going back to the guild. It's been about three weeks but I still haven't heard from Kaizen. I've been training on my own and gained about 10 levels in each of my force abilities and meditation. Honestly with the title reward I might not even need his help anymore, but it was nice we had a mister Miyagi thing going on. Nevertheless I need to work as much as I can to get the third tier bounty quest completed, with the lightsaber hilt, all I will need to do is find a Kyber crystal. I know there is a mine somewhere on this world but I have no leads so far, my best bet will probably be earning a favor from the guild then hopefully somebody here has the answers I seek. As I walk to the guild hall I realize it's in complete chaos. People are running around with papers flying, hunters are gearing up and then there's Carlos who looks dead on his feet.
"Hey man, what the kriff is going on?" I said as I arrived next to him.
"AHHH" He jumped at least 2 feet in the air as I startled him.
"What is wrong with you?" Carlos says to me as he regains his composure.
"What's wrong with you, you're shaking and sweating like you just ran a marathon." I tell him conversationally.
"Everyone on the planet has been called in, we're gearing up for an assault" Carlos said looking shaken.
"Is Jedha under attack" I ask him worriedly, this place should be fine for at least ten years and I'm sure I haven't done anything as of yet to cause ripples to begin forming.
"A team of archeologists discovered a Kyber Vain, when they began exploring they were attacked by hordes of K'lor'slug's. Apparently there is a massive nest somewhere in the tunnel systems, but as of yet nobody knows where it is. Now that the nest has been shaken they have started to venture out and attack anything they see, last count I heard was at 700" He tells me with a nervous look.
"So what's the plan?" I ask.
"The guild has issued a bounty, discovery is 100,000 and destruction is 300,000" He tells me all I need to know. I can finally get my hands on the hilt, I need it to really start training my force powers, there's no choice.
"I need 50 impact grenades, 2 Vibro Swords, 30 flash grenades, 20 combat droids and a rolling torrent" I told him seriously.
"Kid you can't attempt this by yourself, It's ludacris" He practically yells.
"Then get me a partner crazy enough to join me." I tell him with a laugh as I head to the armory to pick up my order. I've never spent this much on weapons before, 25,000 credits but I got everything I could need. With two more squads of droids,B-1 through B-10, C-1 through C-10, all armed to the teeth. Two Vibro swords across my back along with 5 grenade belts, honestly I look like Rambo's lost son. I tell the squads to go to the ship as I see Carlos coming back with somebody that looks like they'd make even the slugs shake in fear. 'Observe' LVL45 Ricor'
"Roy this is Ricor, he's taken 129 bounties in his career with only 5 failed." Carlos tells me as I look up at the seven foot tall Wookie with two giant Vibro axes strapped across his back.
"Dude, when I said find someone crazy enough to join me I didn't mean the biggest guy here." I tell him with a deadpan.
"Raaaarraa" Ricor says as he hands me a device that looks like a high tech watch.
"What is this?" I asked, perplexed.
"It's a translator kid, very rare." Carlos tells me as I put it on. 'Why didn't Solo have one of these?' I can't help but ask myself.
"So umm, nice to meet you, you sure you want to come with me. I'm going to be making a mad dash to blow up the nest." I ask Ricor worriedly.
"I can tell you're no fool, you have enough firepower to make it. Fifty fifty split is all that I ask." A very masuline voice rings from the translator as Ricor roars.
"Welcome to the crew then." I tell Ricor with a smile. "Follow me, my truck is docked out front." I say as I offer Carlos a goodbye. We remain silent as we have an action movie moment of walking to battle.
"That's not a truck Walker," Ricor tells me with a sigh, breaking the badass atmosphere.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"That's a Kriffing tank, who puts a blaster cannon on top of A-A5?" He says.
"This universe is crazy man, the only way to be the best is to be the craziest." I tell Ricor with a chuckle. "You want to drive" I ask as I throw him the keys.
"How much did you put into this truck kid? Everything is high tech and mostly illegal for a vehicle of this class." He asks cautiously.
"Nothing major, I've only modified the weapon systems. Everything else was on it when I bought it, probably around 30,000 credits." I tell him as I see his deadpan expression.
"You could have bought an entire freighter for that price." Ricor tells me like I'm an idiot.
"It's my planet side vehicle, it's 100 percent reliable and after this mission I should be able to buy any ship I want with 200,000." I tell him as I list off my reasons as to why it was a good purchase.
"So you really think we can do this?" He asks me curiously.
"You're the Wookie warrior with two big ass axes, you tell me" I say as we take off.
"Whatever smartass" Ricor says more with a roar than a translation.
"The location is 10 miles south of Ai-jed, the alert just came in around an hour ago so we should be the first there. Everyone else thinks it'll be safer to squad up with as many as they can and split the reward between them. I think it's not worth risking my life for barely anything, plus by the time we'd meet up there together many more teams may get their first, making the entire ordeal a waste." Ricor speaks up as we're flying full speed towards the city.
"So that's your reason for joining me, makes sense, honestly I wouldn't touch this for less than 50,000 to begin with." I added my own opinion.
"So what's the plan?" I hear Ricor ask from the driver seat as I'm preparing the suicide squad.
"Me and you will be frontal assault and ambushers, the droids will operate the torrent and act as support for our attack. Worse comes to worse and we get surrounded,we drop every grenade, fire a couple of rocket launchers and hope for the best." I tell him with a smile.
"That's Kriffing stupid, of all the plans I've heard in my 90 years of life that's got to be the dumbest." Ricor says with a low roar.
"Dude, it's slug monsters that outnumber us like crazy, there's no real plan that's going to survive the first altercation, at least with mine the droids take the most risk fighting from behind protecting our rear. When the droids fall we know it's our queue to get the Kriff out there, I don't know about you but my life isn't worth 200,000." I told him seriously.
"Fine Kriff it!" He agrees with a roar. It takes us around 2 hours to finally reach the site and just as we surmised, we're the first one's there. We disembark Immediately and go about setting up the droids and the torrent. I throw Revan's Cloak over me and draw my Vibro blades, throw my rifle back across my back with my grenade straps.
"A-1 stay with the ship and keep an ear to the communication line, it's very possible that I'll need you to pick us up in the event we're in over our head" I get the obvious 'roger roger' in return. I've thought about changing it but it's just too iconic not to keep. We arrive at the mine's entrances, fresh rubble still on the ground but oddly not a single slug in sight. Probably not a good sign, doesn't really matter. I need the crystals no matter what, even if I fail the bounty mission.
"You ready partner" I ask the warrior Wookie that looks absurdly badass with a great ax in each palm.
"Always" He tells me with what I can guess is a smile.

'System unlock?' possibly a new feature, hopefully at least. I look to Ricor with a nod as we head in 14 droids and a torrent marching behind us, possibly mission impossible music going off in my head. 'Status'

REVAN'S CLOAK-DOUBLE FP
Ok, 180 HP, 1500 FP, with Telekinesis at Novice 18 it costs 15FP per usage but my range has gone up to 15 meters. Assuming that the bigger slugs are twice my weight it'd cost around 30 per push or pull and 50 FP for a blast strong enough to do damage. But with Force Enhancement at Novice 17 the costs goes down to 5 FP per second with a 25% boost to Physical stats, my best bet is going to be dual wielding my swords cutting down as many as I can and doing a wide range push when I'm surrounded, while the droids take care of the fodder and Ricor guarding my back. Unless there's hundreds of greater slugs we should be fine.
The tunnels are very weird, spirals from the start to the end, the force flowing through like a geyser. Definitely the Kyber Vain, weird markings and ancient carvings on all of the walls. Old base or outpost, something hidden by the Jedi or maybe even the Sith. As these thoughts flow through my head I catch sight of our first prey coming out of a tunnel to the left. I throw up my hand to halt movement from my party as I slowly sneak up behind the slug and stab both blades through its neck. It lets out an insane scream attempting to alert its people of its imminent death but it's already too late as I twist my swords through its neck decapitating it.

"Beta Squad set up the torrent directly in front of us, Alpha and Charlie guard the rear, blasters ready we have incoming in the next 60 seconds. Ricor, me and you will strictly attack the greater slugs, watch for their arms; they are extremely dangerous." I issued orders as fast as I can
"Roger Roger" The droids confirm my orders.
"Why not try stealth and set up bombs, block them in as we rain down blaster fire."Ricor asked curiously.
"I'm not risking going that far in until we thin the herd, we can secure this location and make a quicker escape if necessary." I replied to which I got a nod of understanding.
As Our conversation ended I could see the first party of slugs coming in just as the torrent began to spin on. Bolts rang through the cave as slug after slug fell as I got more and more XP notifications, however the downside of a torrent is it can only stay continually running for about a minute before needing to recharge for 3 minutes. I look over to Ricor as I hear the torrent begin to slow down, with a nod we both knew it was our turn.
"Alpha squad switch to guarding our front, anything that gets past me and Ricor kill immediately". I barely hear the 'roger roger' before I jump over our hastily made barricade around the torrent, I hear Ricor's battle cry as we run straight at the horde. Slash after slash, they fall one after the other but this is to be expected, they still haven't sent out the greater slugs. I quickly parry an incoming arm as I slice off another's head trying to attack my rear, over and over. The odd thing about fighting is that time is so slow, minutes turn into hours, at least that's how I feel, I'm just a few minutes in and I feel like I've been fighting for an hour non-stop. An angry roar breaks me from my concentration as I look over and see Ricor being surrounded. I drop everything and run to his aid, I see one he doesn't see about to drop from the ceiling to go for a fatal attack. I let out a roar through the force as I grabbed hold of it and slammed it into the others trying to attack Ricors flank. I jump in the fray immediately pushing them all back with a force blast while Ricor goes in and destroys them with his battle axe. I joined him quickly, another fifty fell before our six grueling minutes were up.
"Alpha Squad retreat back to position, Beta Squad open fire!" I yell as both of us jump back over the barricade.
"You're a Jedi?!" Ricor yelled at me.
"No, I'm just being trained by one, I'm not part of the order" I inform him.
"Where's your lightsaber, it'd make this a whole lot easier." He asked
"Don't have one yet, that's the whole reason I'm in this Kriffing mine!" I told him frustratingly. "Now listen after this next barrage this wave of enemies will be killed. We need to make a significant push after the torrent stops in 30 seconds. Be ready, we only have one shot, aim for the floor, do not throw these near any of the walls." I told him as I threw him one of the grenade belts. As the torrent begins to slow we begin the march, slowly but surely we make it to the nest, only a few stragglers got in the way. As I look around I realize that the slugs are in the main shaft, Kyber crystals surround everything and sadly there's hundreds of slugs all getting ready to attack.
"Ricor fire everything you've got, Alpha squad begin suppression attacks. Beta squad ready the torrent fire as soon as the first one passes the 5 meter mark, Charlie squad guard our rear with your lives!" I scream as I throw 5 grenades into the biggest cluster I see. I run over to B-5 that's carrying my rocket launcher, I grab it and begin looking for the biggest motherfucker in here. I've been lucky so far I haven't taken more than a few glancing blows, sadly I think that might change very soon. As I look up at the 15 foot tall monster slug I can't help but laugh at how absolutely insane this world is.
"Everyone cover me, I'm going for the boss!" I yelled as I activated Force enhancement and rushed into the fray, rocket launcher poised and ready. I get yells of confirmation as my mad dash is followed by immense blaster fire. I make it to within ten meters of the monster when I use the force to propel myself upwards to where I'm eye level with the bastard. With a yell I fire the rocket straight into its face, it lets out a loud shriek as it lands. I drop back down to the ground to find Ricor right there waiting for me holding off fifty slugs with his crossbow and grenades.
"You think that worked?" Ricor asked worriedly.
"I didn't hear it fall over but at the very least it's got to be blinded." I tell my Wookie friend. As the smoke clears I can't help but look over the horde and glance at the definitely blinded monster. I only have one rocket launcher with me and I doubt I can kill it with my swords or grenades, I got to improvise. I look around frantically but I can't find anything in this cave that can help me. Thinking back I remember a saying that always stuck with me, 'Most people focus only on what is eye level, few gaze above'. I look up and can't help but thank all the action movies I watched as a kid.
"Ricor throw me to the ceiling!" I yell as I drop my last grenades into the horde I was fighting off.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" He yells but he still grabs me.
"Come on man after all this that happened so far you still think my plans are shit?" I tell him with a laugh as he throws me into the Stalactite above. I activate Telekinesis full blast as I pull myself on the rock, with a quick cut I begin falling. With a little positioning I use every Force point I have left to push the rock Icicle of death right at the monster with me on the back acting as a guide. With a furious yell I blew right through its chest, Killing it instantly.

With a quick bit of movement I put all ten points into wisdom bolstering my power for what I plan to do next. Concentrating on everything around me I pull at every stalactite in my range. With a quick yell telling all of my companions to get down I throw them all into the hundreds of slugs distracted after the death of their leader.
"All squads full attack, destroy anything that moves" I yell as my small droid army begins wiping out the disoriented slug army. I retreat back with Ricor to catch my breath.
"So you want to join the team?" I ask Ricor as we both watch the droid fire endlessly into the horde.
"What team?" He asks curiously.
"Doesn't really have a name yet, but if me and you can survive this without taking too much damage I'd say we're damn good partners." I tell him with a smile. Just as I finished my question we were flanked from the rear. We both act immediately, rifle and blaster out firing.
"Stand your ground If we can hold this small force off then the droids can finish mopping up the majority" All I received was a loud roar that didn't even get processed through the translator. The wild thing was I didn't notice that with every enemy the droids killed I received a portion of the XP compared to if I killed them myself, this helped immensely when we were overrun as more and more kept pouring out the tunnel. I soon got a surprising level up notification so with another quick wisdom dump I pushed all of them back and held them there as Ricor threw the rest of our grenades destroying the horde. At Least that's what I thought before one snuck up behind him and put two legs through his stomach. All through my life I've always been neutral, never taking a stance or having a severe problem with anyone or anything. Today I learned the real meaning of hate, as my hand lit with electricity I completely accepted the pain, with no remorse I cooked it and another ten alive in a few seconds. Not completely realizing what happened, I heard a low roar and I let the hate go. Quickly I rushed to Rigor's side to find him bleeding up against a wall.
"Hey man are you okay, we won." I tell him as we both look over that the droids standing over the bodies of countless slugs. In this moment I can't help but pat myself on the back for retraining them to actually be competent.
"Sorry kid, it's too late for me. I'm losing too much blood as it is" He tells me in a low roar.
'Fuck' I wish I thought about training this before but maybe I'll get lucky. I have 500 FPs left, hopefully that will be enough. I reach out to the wounds and beg the force to help me, it takes awhile but after a minute of intense concentration I hear a surprised roar. I can't open my eyes and look, it might break my concentration. Once I exhausted every point did I dare open my eyes. To my surprise my gamble worked as I gazed at the completely sealed wound.
"Well damn, your lucky man. I've never tried to do that before." I say with a smile, Darkness was all that followed.
"ROY, ROY, WAKE THE KRIFF UP YOU CRAZY BASTARD" I hear the loudest roar I think I ever heard. 'What happened' I can't help but ask myself, quickly visions start replaying, blaster fire, slug bodies, the monster and the rocket launcher, Ricor getting stabbed. I jump up Immediately hands going for the swords on my back, there not there. I look around trying to get my bearings as I see I'm back on the truck.
"Dude, what the Kriff is going on, how long was I out." I ask nervously hoping that we actually destroyed everything.
"Calm down everything is fine, the droids took out the rest of the nest and destroyed all eggs. The bounties complete, we're rich." He tells me with a laugh.
"THE CRYSTALS, TURN THE KRIFFING SHIP AROUND." I yell, there is no way in hell I went through all of that to not get them.
"ROY!" Ricor yells as he points to the cargo hold.
"Ricor, how many did you grab" I ask cautiously
"Everything in sight, I refuse to go back there." He tells me calmly. I practically teleport to the door and open it to find at least a hundred crystals of varying size.
"Well shit, mission complete. A-1 play the badassery playlist on full blast and take us to the money" I say as I get a Roger and heavy metal starts playing. I look over the interface to realize there's an insane number of notices.

I can't help but feel accomplished. I finally breached 2000 FP, now I can focus more on my speed and strength. 'Sadly I'm probably just going to grind Sith Lightning like a mad man, speaking of' I say to myself as I reach under the bed and pull out a pack of smokes. With a smirk I raise my thumb and finger between the end and let the lightning crackle. 'Fucking badass' I relax back onto the bed as the electric guitar solo plays.
"Those are bad for you" I hear from the translator, completely Kriffing up the vibe.
"Dude, I literally fixed two gaping holes on your stomach, I'm sure I can heal my lungs." I yell at him as I start bursting out laughing at his sour face. Soon we burst through back near the city as we watch the hunters finally setting out.
"Ha, poor guys think we should tell them it's over?" I ask Ricor with a chuckle.
"They probably wouldn't believe us until they saw it for themselves, but maybe if you show them that 3 foot long head they might listen." Ricor says.
"Head?" I ask as I look over and can't help but jump at the slug boss sitting on my workbench. "Nevermind forget I asked" I say with a sigh.

'Force three levels in a day is crazy, I better enjoy this while I can soon I might have to wait months to get one.'I say to myself as I realize the thing I accidentally read over. 'Perk shop' I can't help but voice in my head as a small explanation screen begins to scroll in front of me. 'In the Perk Shop the player can go in and have access to abilities some can only dream of, Perks are purchased through the use of Perk Points. Perk points are given once per level but there are two exceptions, An extra point is given once a player crosses a specific threshold of levels (EX: 10,20,30 etc) and they are possible to be given as a quest reward but they are very rare. Finally not all perks can be accessed at the start, almost all require a prerequisite to be available or even acquire a certain mastery once the specific power is discovered(EXAMPLE: Riaden's Blessing requires the user to be Apprentice 1 in Sith Lightning). 'Woah', some of these are overpowered, so far there are only 5 available to even be viewed but only two are even available for purchase. I was given ten points with the quest and currently have 13 saved, out of the three choices the most exploitable one will be Force prodigy, while my next could be either Raidens Blessing or Gladiators soul However there is also a smarter choice for my next perk that isn't completely offensive,but with Force prodigy I don't need to solely focus on Wisdom anymore, I can start to focus on my speed, power and defense. So with a smile I confirm the perk and watch as my FP explodes. After I add all my newly acquired points to Agility I can't help but gawk at my progress after a single battle, 'An insanely hard one' I can't help but correct myself. 'status'

Just as I finished going over my status and my insane FP somebody cut off my music, I looked over to find Ricor coming towards me with a fire in his eyes.
"You ok man?" I can't help but ask curiously.
"Walker, do you know of the customs of the Wookie people?" He asks me seriously.
"Not all but I do know of life debts, but you are not going to give me one" I tell him just as seriously.
"It is not your decision to make," Ricor tells me angrily.
"Listen man I just met you today, your life is precious, most people only get one. I could be fighting Sith and Jedi in a few years. You don't want a part in that, I promise you."
"I wouldn't have a life to give if it wasn't for you, I lost LITERS of blood but somehow you saved me, you don't need to fight with your power. You can do great things by just healing people, I want to be a part of your journey and you can't shake my resolve. I Ricor of the Wookie race hereby swear a Life Debt to Roy Walker." Ricor states with vigorous roar.
"I guess I can't get rid of you huh" I state surprised knowing that there's no turning back for a Wookie after they make that promise. I tried to tell him but I guess it's his life to live, all I can do is accept his decision.
"Like you'd make it without me" He states with a laugh.
"Who wasn't paying attention and got stabbed through the stomach" I retorted back with a laugh of my own to which I got an angry roar in return.
"This is going to be fun man really, now we just need to find more people to join the party." I tell him with a smile.
"You have someone in mind?" He asks curiously.
"One or two, but the most important one will have to wait a few years. She might not even join but it's worth the wait either way." I tell him with a contemplating look.
"Are you always this vague?" He asks, irritated.
"Lets just say she's an old crush" I tell him even more vaguely just to irritate him.
"So what is the immediate plan, after we go in to cash the bounty what next?" He asked me, changing the conversation.
"We train for 6 months on the planet, most likely buying a ship in that time. Then we go explore the galaxy, I have a bunch of planets we need to go to and allies we need to make. War is on the horizon and it's going to be galaxy wide. We need to find a place where we can draw our line and fight back or we could lay low and strike when the time is right. I'm undecided on what to do in the war as of now, but none of that matters if we aren't strong enough to have our voice heard." I go through the absolute basics of my plan.
"How many will die?" He asks me worriedly.
"Millions" I tell him calmly.
"Are you serious, how can you know? If that many people are going to die isn't it your duty to try and save as many as you can." He asked me angrily.
"Ricor I'm one man, I've only been training for a month or so. There is no way to prevent the war that is coming, it's been in the works for a decade if not more. Don't ask me how I know, just trust that what I tell you is the truth."
"That is very interesting apprentice, almost as interesting as how you've grown at least 4 times as powerful since the last time I saw you" I hear a withered voice ask from the storage room entrance.
"Have you been fucking spying on me old man." I ask furiously.
"No this is a lesson young one, always be mindful of your surroundings and to keep your senses sharp at all times. Otherwise you might give away information to people you might not want to have it." He tells me serenely.
"Let me guess, the council has ordered you to watch me." I say completely disregarding his fake reason for being here.
"No I wouldn't say so, even if they had it wouldn't matter since I'm no longer a part of the order." He tells me brushing off my suspicion.
"Who the Kriff is this old man and why did he sneak onto your truck." Ricor asks me dumbfounded as to how he didn't see him this whole time.
"He's my Jedi master, even though he really doesn't train me. Kaizen what can I do for you, why actually did you sneak on my truck? I'm really too tired to play 20 questions"
"I felt your battle and decided to take a look at your progress. Imagine my surprise to see you pulling off padawan and even knight feats in force abilities. To be able to learn Force Healing on your own was quite the surprise as well, but that lightning, that's a Power based on the dark side I do not recommend learning it." He tells me seriously.
"You were there the entire time?" I ask him irritatingly.
"You had everything under control, impressive battle strategizing and quick thinking. You didn't even lose a single droid, you had everything ready and a counter for every surprise that came. Honestly I'd say you'd say you'd make a fine general in the Republic." Kaizen praises me.
"As if, the Republic is dying. I'm not going to join a sinking ship." I disregard his suggestion.
"So we lose the war" He asks with a saddened expression, already coming to terms with the little information I gave him. I can't help but berate myself for that slip in judgment.
"I refuse to answer" I state putting an end to that conversation.
"You intend to train under me for six months Roy? Do you really feel that will be enough to have you prepared for what's to come." Kaizen asks me worriedly.
"I hope, I intend to train on every planet we stop at as well as on the way." I tell him seriously.
"Then let's make a deal young Roy, there is one person I order you to protect. In return I'll attempt to teach you my most prized technique as well as train you in every basic and intermediate levels of the Jedi way." Kaizen Pleas, probably figuring out that whoever that is will die when the republic falls.
"Who and what ability?" I ask seriously.
"My only Padawan Shaak Ti, make sure she survives and I'll teach you Force teleport. Currently I'm the only known user, it is a rare and powerful gift." Kaizen tells me seriously.
"Show me" I've never even heard of this power, if it does what it says then I can't pass it up. I watch as Kaizen moves instantly to my left in a perfect position to slice my head clean off.
"If you can do that why can't you protect her yourself." I ask suspiciously.
"You can't fight time young Roy, I estimate I have less than a year left in this world, do we have an accord" He tells me with a saddened expression.
"Damn, it isn't like I can turn down your last request." I tell him with a smile as I shake his hand.
"Then we must start now, have your partner take care of the rest." He tells me as he takes a handful of Kyber crystals.
"Ricor, use my share and the safe under the cockpit to buy a ship, make sure there is enough space for training and cargo. Modify it to your heart's content and buy 10 more squads of droids. Stockpile weapons as well as armor and train as much as you can. In six Months I'll meet you at the guild." I tell him with a smile as I open the door and jump out as Master Kaizen teleports to the ground. He yells 'Your Kriffing crazy' As I begin to fall. It's really nice to have a partner.
"Stay safe my friend" I yell as I sky dive to the ground once again.
