Chapter 1
When Izuku Midoriya awoke, it was to a vast Whiteness that was most definitely not his bedroom. From what he could see from his position on the floor made from grayish wispy smoke, he was in some form of massive field of pure White.
Had this been about a year ago, he would have panicked. But, after the trials and hardships of his first year at U.A., the best hero school of Japan, if not the world, he pushed his panic aside and analyzed his situation.
He wasn't blindfolded, gagged, or bound in any way. There was no feeling of sluggishness and he didn't feel any pains besides his usual chronic aches. Nobody seemed to be near him, but he didn't discount the possibility of someone with a camouflage Quirk.
Moving on he checked his body for any injuries, besides the bandage around his stomach where Kirishima accidentally cut him during training when Izuku got distracted by Bakugou shouting at someone.
The false redhead had spent three hours apologizing to the greenette, even after Recovery Girl healed him.
Finding no new injuries, he finally checked if he could still access One for All, the Quirk he inherited from his mentor Toshinori Yagi, also known as the Number One hero All Might.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he felt the massive pool of energy, thrumming just beneath his skin and flowing through his veins. Activating the powerful Quirk, he smiled at the now familiar feeling of nigh-untamable power and the coils of green electricity flowing around him.
It had taken him a lot of time, sweat, blood, and a lot of tears to get any kind of control over the Quirk. While he still had a long way to truly master One for All, he had come a long way from his measly 5% to his now nearly 30%.
Deactivating the Quirk, he couldn't help but frown. This didn't feel like a kidnapping, but more like a strange dream. Except he knew that it wasn't a dream, the chronic aches in his bones proving that he was awake. It was almost like woke up and walked into another room...
The only oddity was the fact that he wasn't wearing the shirt and shorts combo he used as pajamas, but black track pants with green trimming, a simple white t-shirt, and his cyan hoodie. He was even wearing his signature red shoes!
Did someone kidnap and change him while he was asleep? That...was concerning on so many levels. At least they hadn't touched his underwear...he hoped.
He couldn't stop the full-body shiver going through him and discarded that thought process, the thought too creepy to consider any longer than necessary.
Shaking his head, he got off the ground and stretched his back, his spine making a loud cracking noise. Placing his hands on his hips, he looked around. Just as he noted before, his surroundings were pure White, except for the floor, which seemed to be made out of some sort of gray smoke.
But now that the last vestiges of sleep left him, he was able to make out some sort of structure in the distance to his right.
"What's that?", he mumbled to himself. With a frown, he looked around one last time, before starting towards the structure.
While walking towards it, he noticed that the smoke beneath his feet seemed to shift around him, following him. Where his feet touched the ground, the smoke congregated and solidified under him. It stayed there before dissolving and leaving behind the same pure White as his surroundings.
Actually, now that he looked closer, the White seemed to, for lack of a better word, sparkle slightly. Little nodes of multicolor lights. These... "sparkles", also seemed to follow him, so that he was essentially leaving behind a trail of sparkles.
Now even more confused, Izuku turned back to face the structure, which seemed to be some sort of small loghouse. Walking past the featureless, humanoid light construct, he increased his speOH DEAR GOD WHAT.
Spinning around he looked at the light construct with wide eyes. Jumping back, he shifted into a combat stance and got ready to leap further away at a moment's notice.
"Who are you?! WHAT are you?!", he shouted, his fist clenching in preparation.
The construct, being the size of a small child, tilted its head, leaving behind a trail of sparkles. And then it spoke.
"I am Nothing, for yet. I will be Something, in but a moment. Do you know? Do you understand?"
Without meaning to, Izuku relaxed a fraction. The soft voice, reminding him of Eri's voice, but with a higher pitch, put him at ease in a way only children could. He frowned, trying to understand what the construct meant.
"I...don't understand. Am I supposed to say what you are? Give you a name? Wait, are you even real? Is ANYTHING here real? Am I going insane?!", he rattled off, panicking more and more, his train of thought immediately going towards the worst possible situation.
The construct merely stood still, calmly looking at Izuku, who started to calm down as his logical mind stepped in and reigned in his imagination.
"Better?", it asked him in its calm voice.
Taking a few deep breaths, Izuku nodded. "Yeah, yeah...sorry. I needed that. But, what DID you mean by that?", he asked, a lot calmer now.
Instead of answering, the construct hummed and started walking towards the log house. It walked a few steps before stopping and motioning him to follow.
Seeing no harm in following the construct, seeing as it seemed to be peaceful, Izuku followed it to the house.
"Can you tell me anything? Like, where I am maybe?", Izuku asked, hoping that the construct knew at least something. He absently noted that the gray smoke didn't seem to follow the construct.
Humming, it answered. "You are in the Space. It is where everything is, yet nobody is. It is where you can not enter, yet can reach. It is where the Archive is, where all that one knows can be seen, but will be forgotten."
"...uh...what?"
She stopped and turned around, giving him a dimpled smile with pearly white teeth.
"Do not worry! You will understand in due time!", she chirped cheerfully.
Izuku nodded, thinking to himself, before doing a doubletake and looking at the construct. Seeing the same featureless light looking back at him, he shook his head.
'Did I just...? No, I'm just stressed and imagining things.'
"This..."Archive", where, uh, all that one knows is, but forgets, can you tell me more about it? Where is this archive?"
Humming once again, the construct simply pointed at the log house and told him, "The Archive is where the fragments of yourself are stored, but yet they are not all yours. They belong to you, and yet they belong to others."
"...ah, yes, of course, I understand."
He did not.
"Do not worry, the time of understanding is in your near future. For yet, we have reached the Archive. Your companions are already waiting for you, having awakened a few minutes ago."
"My companions? Wait, you mean my class?! They're also here?! Why?!", he shouted, distress in his voice.
"Yes. They are here for the same reason you are here. To learn."
He looked at it and frowned.
"What do you mean, learn? Does the archive have something to do with that?", he asked the construct, which stopped at the log house, or archive.
"All will be explained inside. Just take this warning. Not all that you are going to learn, will be something that will be to your liking. Some of the knowledge you will gain will make you experience hatred, sadness, and despair like you have never before."
Izuku swallowed nervously and stared at the door of the log house with a sense of trepidation. That did not sound reassuring. Taking a deep breath, he took a step towards the door, the construct standing behind him.
Gripping the handle, he opened the door before taking one last look at the construct. His eyes widened-
"Oh, and Izuku...my name is-"
-and he saw a flash of green, sparkling eyes before she burst into a cloud of butterflies, all made out of glass and every single one of them sparkling.
Breathless, Izuku stared at the spot where the construct stood.
"You're...you're my-"
"DEKU!"
