Part II

Sunday 22nd October

"YOU'RE FREAKING KIDDING ME!"

Danny's reflects kicked in, flicking his ear piece out of his ear and almost in the trash can next to his desk. He glanced at the screen to see Tucker had also pulled off his headset in protest to Sam's loud outburst.

Danny picked back his ear piece and put it back in his ear to hear Tucker saying "-and blow out my ears!"

"No, I'm not kidding you. Here." Danny reached into his jeans pocket, still wondering how the two pockets always seemed to connect between transformations. He pulled out the scrap of paper and held it up to the computer's camera for his two best friends to see. As he was waiting for them to read it, a window popped up at the bottom of his screen, next to the clock reading past one in the morning. He looked down at the window and smiled at what he saw.

"Yeah, that's his handwriting alright," Tucker realized.

Danny took the paper away from the camera and clicked on the window to read the whole message.

"Well duh it's his. He always puts the skull and cross bones as his signature," Sam pointed out.

"Are we seriously going to the coolest party in the town?" Tucker asked. "Something so cool that even Sam has to agree with it."

"He's almost goth," Sam defended.

"He thinks he's part werewolf and vampire," Tucker pointed out. He shook his head before asking, ""How on Earth is he popular at our school?"

"He's just got most of the senior class as his friends," Danny pointed out, halfway in the conversation as he responded to the message in the other window.

"Who you IMing?" Sam asked, noticing.

"Dani. Steven wanted more ghosts to come, so I thought she'd like to go," Danny admitted.

"So is Danny Fenton also going to be going?" Tucker asked.

"Huh?" Danny asked, looking up from the keys to look at Tucker. "What do you mean?"

"Well, you're inviting us, but I think most people know we hang out with you all the time so they probably think that you're friends with Phantom as well," Tucker pointed out. "If it's just the three of us at the party, plus whoever else, someone's bound to notice."

"And if he realized that first, than you better be working on your duplication," Sam said, throwing her thumb towards Tucker's window, getting a "hey!" out of her friend.

"I can keep a duplicate running for almost an hour right now," Danny said, nodding towards his friends' logic. "If Danny Fenton disappears for a bit, I really don't think anyone will notice."

Tucker yawned, getting his friend's attention.

"Hey, have you gotten your copy of Alice in Wonderland?" Sam asked, reminding them of their school work. "Lancer wanted to see it tomorrow, er, later today."

"Got my digital book," Tucker nodded, holding up his PDA.

"Shoot. I forgot all about it," Danny admitted, sending the message to Dani before dropping back in his chair. "With all these ghosts, I don't even think I'll be able to read it anyway. You know how bad it gets in October and November."

"Have you tried looking for an audiobook version?" Tucker asked, leaning forwards to type on his keyboard.

"Tucker, I'm low tech over here, remember?" Danny reminded with the ghost of a smile on his face. "I tried one of those audiobook things and my MP3 didn't recognize it as a thing."

"Try ," Tucker suggested, sending the link to his friend. "My mom uses that site like crazy. It's all free and you can get the books in MP3 format, cut up in chapters."

Danny clicked on the link and looked up the book needed, only to smile as it gave him what he wanted. "Thanks Tuck. Now, do you think Lancer will accept an audiobook?"

"He should, you're still reading the book," Sam said, shrugging her shoulders.

"If anything, you can get the typed version of the book from LibriVox as well," Tucker pointed out as Danny hit the download button. "That way you can show Lancer you've got the words and still use the audiobook."

"Hey, is Steven's party a costume party?" Sam asked, turning Danny's eyes back to the invitation sitting next to the keyboard.

"I'm sure it is, since it is a Halloween party," Danny said, looking back at the screen to continue downloading the book for class. "Though you two have it lucky, you only need one costume, I need two."

"I'm sure if your ghost half went as himself, no one would have any problems," Sam said.

"Yeah, but Dani wants to go as a Ghost Vampire and wants me to do the same," Danny sighed, smiling.

"Oh Sam, you could go as the scariest thing to you," Tucker said, a smile bursting on his face.

"Yeah, what's that?" Sam asked, eyeing her friend.

"Paulina!" Tucker laughed out.

Sam shivered as Danny smiled.

"Okay, I've gotta get some sleep guys," Danny said, sending one last message to Dani. "The ghosts are leaving me alone for a moment, I'm going to use it."

"Night man," Tucker said, yawning again.

"See you at school," Sam said, smiling.

Danny ended the video call and sat his ear piece on the table next to his keyboard, giving one last look at the invitation with excitement building up inside him. He turned off the screen and headed to bed, not even bothering changing clothes.
