Part VI

Wednesday, 25th October

Danny leaned his head back, letting himself drift into the world of Wonderland as he tried to keep up with his school work while still stuck on bedrest. The door to his room burst open, giving himself an adrenaline rush as he quickly tugged out the earbuds only to see Sam walk in and toss his homework on his desk.

"You okay?" Danny asked, watching her drop into his computer chair, dropping her school bag at her feet.

"Five ghosts today?" Sam said, unsure as she ran a hand through her hair only to find knots. "Got half a mind to just jump into the portal and gamble."

"It's not exactly fun," Danny tried, worried as he paused the book so he didn't lose his place.

"I know, I know." Sam held up her hands in defense before dropping them in her lap. She yawned before asking, "So how was your day?"

"Mom's almost forced me to stay in bed all day," Danny said, rolling his eyes. "Though I do feel better than I did yesterday. And my ghost half seems to be healing too." Just as he said that, blue mist escaped his lips as if proof.

"That's good," Sam said, absent mindedly as she leaned her head against her hand propped up by the back of the chair.

"There's a ghost outside though," Danny said, looking out his window only to see the Box Ghost fly upwards. "It's just the Box Ghost."

"That's good," Sam said, her eyes drooping.

"And tomorrow I'm going to ask Ashley from Biology if she wants to go out," Danny said, eyeing his friend to see if she was even listening.

"Ok-hey! What!?" Sam asked, jolted out of her doze. "When did you start liking her pompous butt!?"

"Well, you're awake," Danny smiled, showing her he was joking.

"Sorry, ghosts seemed to like my Grandma last night," Sam admitted. "I hate October. I knew it was ghost month but I never realized…"

"It's okay," Danny offered.

"Oh, Tucker's figured out what he wants to be for Halloween." Sam said, a smile appearing on her face.

"What?"

"Phantom."

"What! They're be a million of people dressed up as me, Tucker doesn't need to add himself to the number," Danny said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Don't worry, I already talked him out of it," Sam said, waving it off. "He's going to dig out his Star Trek science officer uniform from when we were planning on going to Comic Con."

"What about you?"

"I'm thinking witch. I saw this awesome spider designed dress on the way here I might go back and get. Have you figured out what human you's going to be?"

"Black cat?" Danny asked with a sly smile, his adrenaline running again but for a different reason now.

Sam lost to a laugh as it escaped her mouth. "What, you want to be my black cat?"

"Why not?" Danny shrugged, not sure if his face was heating up or it was just the flu.

"I'm not complaining, but most guys don't do cats," Sam pointed out.

"Who are you to stereotype?"

"Touché." Sam yawned again as she stood up. "I'm going to get a nap in before dinner. It's Tucker's turn to patrol anyway."

"I'll be back to my job soon," Danny promised as he watched her grab her school bag and leave the room.
