Part X
Saturday 11th November
"I really don't like this place!" Jazz exclaimed in frustration as she pushed the Spector Speeder to its maximum speed.
"You're not the only one," Dani added. She poked her head through the side of the glass, taking a glance behind them. She pulled her head back inside, pulling her black hair aside, and yelled in a panic, "He's still there!"
"I know he's still there," Jazz growled, turning the vehicle sharply only to scream as a rock appeared in their way. The two braced for impact, only to feel nothing. Jazz opened her eyes and smiled in surprise as all around them passed the rock.
"W-we're alive?" Dani said.
"We're the ghosts here." Jazz realized as they appeared on the other side of the rock. She quickly checked over Dani, glad to see she looked as well as she felt from the trip through the rock. "Any sign of our evil ghost rabbit?"
Dani looked out the window again and laughed. "He thought he could also go through the rock."
"Ouch," Jazz laughed at the thought as she slowed down to normal cruising speed. "Okay, where are we?"
Dani sat back in her seat so she faced the window and picked up the map from where she'd thrown it in surprise of the rabid rabbit. After looking around them and back at the map a few times she smiled. "We're almost to the Far Frozen. It should be in view any minute now."
"Is it that long tube of snow?" Jazz asked, glancing over at Danny's drawn map. "He made it look like a sock."
"It kinda looks like a sock," Dani said, tilting her head at the floating structure in the green sky."
"Let's just hope Frostbite can help us," Jazz said, flying closer to what Danny had labeled as the entrance only to see the tube open up to snow. She lowered the vehicle down into the hole, ice and snow the only thing that could be seen through the window now that the green sky was out of view. She kept her grip tight on the steering wheel, trusting the radar to show her when she had found bottom. An opening appeared to their left, getting her to turn the vehicle that way and drive forward as a town started to appear out of the ice. Driving down what looked like it could be a road, the front doorways of housings or buildings they passed facing them, they found the structures becoming more and more elaborate the farther they road.
"Where do you think he is?" Dani asked, leaning forward to look farther out the domed front window.
"I don't even know what he looks like," Jazz pointed out, noticing yeti-looking monsters walking along the street or going about their everyday lives. One caught her attention, the large yeti only having one arm while the other, the one waving at them, was encased in ice and revealing the bone. She slowed down to stop next to him as she said, "Maybe he can help. He looks friendly enough."
"I don't know," Dani mumbled.
Jazz put the Spector Speeder in park and called out, "Excuse me, we're looking for Frostbite. Do you know where we can find him?"
"He is me," the yeti said with a smile. "I recognized the Great-one's ship and presences and came at once."
"The great-one?" Dani echoed under her breath with a laugh.
"Danny's not with us," Jazz informed. "Is there some place we could talk? We need your help."
"Of course," Frostbite said, concern pulling at his features. "My home is just there."
Jazz pulled out the keys and unbuckled, grabbing a Fenton Parka off its hook in the back before stepping out of the vehicle. She quickly pulled it on, the cold biting at her skin, as Dani followed behind her dressed similarly. Looking up at the monster before her, she quickly held out her hand and said, "I'm sorry, I'm Jazz and this is Dani."
Frostbite took the handshake, grasping Jazz's hand a little too tightly, as he said, "Aw, the sister. The Great-one has told me a lot about you." Releasing her hand, he turned to Dani and added, "And Dani. I apologize for mistaking you for your relative. He's told me a little about you."
Jazz gave Dani a glance, wishing she knew more about the girl that looked almost exactly like her little brother. Pushing the thought aside, she looked back up at the yeti-ghost as he finished studding Dani.
"Come with me, I know how much Sam and Tucker hate the cold," Frostbite said with a hint of a smile on his large face.
"We can't stay long," Jazz warned, following the large yeti into a doorway.
"Then I'll skip the pleasantries," Frostbite said, offering them chairs made of ice but designed like they had been carved out of wood. He took a seat in an adjacent chair in what looked like it could be a lounge and waited for them to sit down before asking, "What has happened?"
"Danny and his friends have disappeared," Dani started, looking up at the ghost.
"My mom was the last one to see Danny," Jazz said, adding her voice to the story. "My best guess is a ghost got his attention and he called his friends for help."
"We were hoping you had seen anything or heard anything," Dani said, crossing her arms over her stomach as she leaned forward.
"Vlad and Skulker have been looking around, but I'm sure there's places they can't go that would harbor Danny and them if they couldn't get back to the human realm," Jazz said. "We need anything. He's been gone for two weeks now."
"There are a few places," Frostbite said, thoughtfully looking at the wall behind the girls. He turned his gaze back to the two and stood up to continue, "I'll send some of our warriors out right away. Are you planning on staying here until they come back?"
"No," Jazz admitted, standing up. Dani copied her as she added, "We've got three others to stop in on. The more people looking for him, the more likely he'll be found."
"And soon," Dani added.
"Then I wish you luck." Frostbite bowed his head in farewell as the two left his home. "I'll send word if we find anything."
