My take on Colin and Penelope's story taking into account the TV show changes from the book shown in Seasons 1 and 2. Colin has not seen the amazing woman who has been under his nose for years. What would happen if another man started pursuing Penelope? Would he realize what he was missing?

This is a "What if...What if Kate didn't go to the Featherington Ball and left for India?" continuation of Anthony and Kate's story. While the show neatly tied up their love story, I felt it needed more angst. Some people may hate that but not to worry, dear Reader, I will eventually get to the happy ending you so desire (with a little heat along the way...lol!). Enjoy!

Season one and two. All of this time Colin had been courting Penelope and hadn't realised it.

At the age of 23, Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton make a drunken deal that if neither of them are married (or in a steady relationship) by the age of thirty, they will marry each other. Alternate world. When Daphne turns 19, she is taken by her father to London to be matched to a suitor by the queen (as is the custom). The queen matches Daphne with Simon because they are the most attractive candidates. Little does she know that Daphne and Simon clash like fire and water. Hate turns to burning love, and Simon soon learns that loving Daphne is easier than breathing.

After the loss of her parents Penelope is forced to live with her uncle and her cousin Marina. Once there she meets Eloise and Colin. Her uncle is not only cruel to her but also arranges a marriage to get rid off her as fast as he can. Penelope refuses this to be her faith and gets a helping hand from someone unexpected.
