Dulce moved to Broadchurch to get away from all the city noise. It seemed like the perfect place to raise her daughter. The town is suddenly thrown for a loop when a dead body is found on the beach. Broadchurch is no longer the safe town it once was. In the midst of it all, Dulce meets a brooding Scottish detective who she is more attracted to than she'd like to admit.

He's new in town, divorced and with the social skills of a blunt instrument. She's almost a native, certain she'll die an old maid but sure to be the honorary aunt to her friends' kids. He hates the sea; she loves the rolling waves. They seem to have nothing in common; but when Danny's murder leads Alec to Emma, can hope bloom from tragedy after all?

"Because there's nowhere else I belong either!" Ellie is shocked as Hardy yells this at her. He just returned to Broadchurch and his mood is worse than ever. But there seems to be something else on Alec's mind. He seems sadder. What has happened in the two years of his absence? And how long will it take Ellie to realize that time is of the essence if she wants to help her friend?

He presses a hand to his chest, taking the moment to revel in the novel sensation of a normal, steady heartbeat. The slight pressure hurts, but it's a different kind of hurt. He wonders, idly, if this is what healing pain feels like: closer to the surface than before, and more localized.

Things are changing between Miller and Hardy they begin a relationship outside of work, but will the offer of a lifetime pull them apart?

It's been a strange night for Daisy Hardy. Between good dreams and bad dreams, memories and musings, it's hard to figure out what's reality... I hope you, the reader, can keep up... ;)

Certainly Alec had a heart purer than gold itself, but it was a wee silver ticker inside that gave his golden heart the power to beat regularly. The silver sheen complimented his golden heart perfectly. The Sword of Damocles no longer loomed over his heart. His poor, worn down, and over-stressed heart was a time bomb waiting to set off. Fortunately it never reached the end of it.

She pulled him tighter into her embrace and tucked the duvet around him, hoping to rid of the goosebumps that started forming along his arm. "Just breathe. You're okay. I've got you," she muttered over and over again, feeling his hot breathe tickling her neck. He didn't respond, but buried himself deeper into her embrace, tears forming at the corner of his closed eyes.

Alec, Ellie realised, was quite like a cat. Here she was, sitting beside him on his sofa in his house, watching daytime telly and he was definitely dozing off every now and then. "Alec," Ellie called softly, "don't fold your arms," and she repeated her earlier actions of tugging at his elbow. He woke with a start and stared menacingly at her, eyebrows furrowed in pain.

A chance encounter leaves Alec Hardy impressed: She's new in town, bold, a bit foul-mouthed and clever. Daisy believes he has finally found his perfect match. But, just like Alec, the woman he met has a dark past... and it is coming back to haunt her. Takes place after the series ended, but I still try to keep it spoiler-free. -complete-

Hardy finds Ellie attempting to commit suicide after Joe is acquitted. He stops her before she can go through with it, and they have a heart-to-heart. Hurt/comfort, angst, friendship. One-Shot.

Regarding emotions, Hardy wasn't good with words. He would usually fumble, trip and make a fool of himself. No, he was much better remaining quiet. Hardy navigated silences with looks and glances, packing little bundles of lingering feelings and pouring them into the other's soul. That, he was good at. Or in other words, all the things he could never say to her. (Spoilers for S1&2)
