Jack was pacing in his room the next morning. He had to figure out how to break the news to his friends. They were leaving in two days, he had until then to think of a way to tell his friends.

He sat on his bed and fiddled with his phone, a part of him wanted to just take the coward way out and just send a text before leaving, but he knows if he did that, they, especially Kim, would hunt him down and rip his head off.

He chuckled humorlessly and rubbed his temples. No he needs to face them and tell them in person. He grimaced as he remembered how he left things off with them yesterday. Maybe he could tell Rudy and have him tell the rest of the gang. No, he immediately scratched that thought. He has to go to the dojo and tell them face to face. He fell back onto his bed groaning.

Why is this happening to me. He thought miserably

oOo

Kim was beating the dummy in the dojo, relentlessly, taking her anger out on the poor dummy. She was lost in her thoughts as she pummeled the dummy. She knows that they were wrong, they should've believed Jack, but it wasn't that simple, Carson before he had moved away was different, he was a good friend, not anything like he was now. She and the boys were close to Carson. He was honorable and took Karate seriously, so when Jack had told them that Carson was a cheater, especially after he had just lost, they had a hard time believing him.

It's not that they didn't trust Jack. It was just the thought that the Carson they had known would never cheat to win in a tournament. How could Jack not see that? She snarled and started punching the dummy harder. How could he think that the boys didn't trust him after everything he's done for them, how could he ever think that she didn't trust him.

She remembers the day Jack had moved to Seaford like it was yesterday. They had met in the school cafeteria. She had seen him beat up the Black Dragons effortlessly, Kim had watched in awe, as the new kid stood up to the fearsome group and defended his new friends against the bullies that no one has dared to challenge before. She crushed on him, how could she not? Jack was amazing. Her crush kept growing bigger as the days went on and the two got closer and she got to know him better.

Her heart broke yesterday when she heard him say that he wouldn't come back to the dojo and he walked away. She had a feeling that not only would he not be coming back to the dojo, he would stop talking to them too.

She sighed, walking towards one of the benches and sat down pressing her hands to her cheeks. The dojo was empty, the others were in school still. She had skipped class as soon as she realized Jack wasn't going to be there. She played with her phone, debating whether she should call him or not.

Blowing out her cheeks, she decided to just buck up and call him, she needed to make things right between them. Pressing the call button, she held her breath as the phone was ringing.

"Hello" Jack answered, not noticing who had called, as he was too busy packing his clothes and had just pressed the answer button when his phone started ringing, thinking it was his mom.

"Jack" Kim spoke, playing with her hair nervously

Jack froze

"Kim?" He exclaimed in surprise.

"We need to talk Jack" She started, crossing her legs.

Jack sat down on his chair and sighed, one hand holding the phone to his ear.

"Yeah we do, I'll come to the dojo in an hour or two, I have something I need to tell you guys"

Kim's mouth opened slightly in surprise. She thought he'd hang up the phone instantly or refuse to meet at all. But he didn't even sound mad and he was coming to the dojo.

"Sounds good Jack, I'll let the guys know"

"Thanks Kim, I'll see you in a bit" He hung up the phone

Kim was stunned. She didn't expect it to be that easy, she expected him to be a little angry atleast. But he just sounded sad. Kim's stomach clenched, she had a feeling whatever he had to say wasn't going to be pleasant.

oOo

As soon as the bell rang Jerry jumped up and bolted out of the classroom, running to his locker. He got a text from Kim that Jack was going to be at the dojo today. Grinning he put his books away and zipped up his bag.

He saw Milton and Eddie talking on the other side of the hall and quickly walked towards them.

"Yo, Milton, Eddie, did you guys get a text from Kim" He exclaimed, a grin plastered on his face.

They looked confused. "What text" Milton asked.

"Jack will be at the dojo today" He announced, grinning

Their eyes widened.

"Really?!" Eddie grinned.

Milton couldn't help but grin aswell. They were all crushed when Jack decided to leave, they were all like family and it hurt greatly when the black belt left angrily and didn't show up at school today either.

"You think he changed his mind, about leaving the dojo?" Eddie questioned, eyes filled with hope

"He must've. Right? Why else would he show up after yesterday" Jerry said, rubbing his chin.

"Hopefully, but we can't be certain yet. He could just tell us that he wants nothing to do with us anymore" Milton spoke up, voice quiet

Their grin's faded and they walked to the dojo in silence, each of them lost in their thoughts.

oOo

Jack walked out of his house and made his way towards the dojo, his heart pounding in his chest. It felt more real the closer he got, this was it. This was the last time he was going to see the guys and Kim. He was going to have to move into a brand new place with new people and a new school. A new dojo, he thought swallowing hard. No. There was no way he was joining another dojo.

Before he could dwell on that any further, he noticed that he had reached the dojo. His breathing quickened when he saw his friends through the window. Putting his hands in his pockets, he walked inside the dojo, heart racing.

oOo

Kim and the guys were sitting in the dojo waiting for Jack to arrive. They were unable to sit still.

"Do you think he'll forgive us?" Eddie spoke up, looking down at his feet

"I don't know Eddie, he sounded pretty sad on the phone" Kim said, frowning

They guys shared a worried glance, before the conversation could continue they heard the dojo doors open, their heads shot up toward the sound.

Jack walked in, hands in his pockets. He looked up at them for a second before looking away.

This worried Kim and the guys further, they have never seen the black belt look like this. He was usually so confident and calm, but right now he looked solemn, nervous and avoided eye contact.

"Jack, are you okay?" Kim asked him worried, when he got closer to them.

"Not really" He stopped before continuing "I don't know how to tell you guys this but..." He trailed off and looked up.

Kim gasped, there were tears in his eyes, he was crying. She's never seen him cry.

"Jack you're scaring me, what happened?" She inquired, worried out of her mind.

"I'm moving" He blurted out.

A cold chil ran down Kim's spine and her hand shot up to cover her mouth.

"What?" She stuttered, not believing her ears.

Jack sighed and sat down on the ground, his back leaning against the wall.

"My mom got a job offer, in L.A. We're moving there" He told them, fidgeting with his fingers.

The guys froze.

Kim held back a sob and sat down infront of him.

"I'm sorry, Kim" He said, holding back tears.

"Jack, y-you can't leave" She cried, choking on her words

"I don't want this anymore than you guys, trust me, I had the same exact reaction as you guys when my mom told me yesterday." He swallowed hard, before continuing "I'm really going to miss you guys" He started, looking at Kim. "All of you" He finished, looking at the guys who had sat down next to him and Kim, speechless.

"Jack, we're going to miss you so much man, you have no idea how much you've changed our lives ever since you moved here" Jerry's voice broke slightly, he paused before continuing "We're so grateful for everything you've done" He finished, choking on his words

Tears were pricking Jack's eyes. He didn't know what to say. He was speechless. Thankfully he didn't have to say anything, Milton spoke up.

"Jerry's right, Jack" He paused, eyebrows furrowing "Wow, I never thought those words would come out of my mouth"

"Hey!"

Jack threw his head back and let out a laugh, tears streaming down his face. He was going to miss them so much.

"Anyway, He's right. You've helped us so much, before you moved here, I had to go to school everyday scared that I would get beaten up or that my lunch would get stolen, I was so shy and nervous I could barely talk to anyone else besides Jerry and Eddie without stuttering" He paused, swallowing hard before continuing. "But you changed all that, you made me more confident, you didn't let the Black Dragons bully us and throw us around. You taught us how to fight back, how to defend ourselves and not just sit there and take it. You've taught us all so much Jack and you've changed our lives so much, we're so grateful for everything you've done" He finished, tears stinging his eyes.

Jack's heart squeezed painfully, How could he have doubted his friends trust and loyalty. He loved them all, he would do anything for them.

Eddie spoke next "Jack, just like Milton and Jerry said, you've done so much for us man. Before you joined us no one paid any attention to us. I never got any girls or had any friends besides these two" He motioned towards Jerry and Milton "But just like Milton said you-" He pointed at Jack "You changed everything, you made going to school easier, and more fun. You gave me confidence that I didn't know I had. And because of you, girls actually talk to me now and people don't act like I don't exist anymore, whenever I'm with you I always feel safe man. I want you to know how much we all appreciate you." He choked out, tears dribbling down his cheeks.

Kim, who had watched all of them in silence, tears streaming down her face, spoke next.

"Jack, just like the guys, you've changed my life too, before you came to this school, I was stuck in the Black Dragon dojo, whenever I was there I always felt so left out, and at school I only hung out with the popular kids even though I didn't want to, my life was so boring back then." She paused "When you moved here you brought excitement to my life, you gave me the confidence to finally leave the Black Dragons and showed me a better dojo, you introduced me to all these awesome people" She pointed at Eddie Milton and Jerry "You make my days brighter, I appreciate you Jack and I'm grateful for everything you've done and.."

She paused. She didn't know whether she should confess her feelings or not, part of her wanted to but the other part of her was scared, what if he didn't feel the same way and she ruined everything. No she should do it, this is her last chance.

"I love you Jack" She blurted out, looking at Jack carefully.

Jack's eyes rounded and his blood froze. What. Did she just.. Kim loves him? He couldn't believe it. He had dreamt of this for months, not that he would tell anyone that.

"I love you too Kim" He whispered, and leaned down to kiss her on the lips, a quick, full lipped kiss, one hand cupping her cheek.

He pulled away and searched her face for a reaction, just to make sure this wasn't a product of his imagination.

She was blushing, a wide smile on her face, Kim felt like time had stopped when he had kissed her, her heart was pounding hard. She sighed happily and leaned against Jack.

"WOOOOO, Kick prevails" Jerry cheered, standing up and dancing, Milton and Eddie joining him, goofy grins on their faces, dancing horribly.

Jack and Kim looked at eachother and burst out laughing. As their laughter died down, Jack kissed her again. He loved doing that.

They spent the rest of the day in the dojo dancing and goofing around, trying to spend as much time together, possible. Before the inevitable.
