So we'll piss off the neighbors
In the place that feels the tears

Tongues danced together, hands tangling in hair. A shrill scream echoed the room, followed closely by laughter.

The place to lose your fears
Yeah, reckless behavior

Feeling a sharp pain along her tongue, Kagome pulled back. Sharp teeth, a demonic-looking smile, and haze,

A place that is so pure, so dirty and raw
In the bed all day, bed all day, bed all day
Fucking and fighting on

"Goodnight, beautiful. This will be your last dance~."

It's our paradise and it's our war zone
It's our paradise and it's our war zone

"Don't worry. It'll feel...delicious..."

Kagome shot up out of bed, her eyes wide in terror. She wasn't quite sure what had scared her, but a tremor found her fighting off tears. 'A nightmare? No...it felt so real.' Bringing her hands to her eyes, she tried desperately to fight back the tears, but to no avail. They fell without restraint. Her body was wracked with convulsions from panic and dread. The realization of one of her biggest fears seemed to be tiptoeing the border of her mind. 'Murdered?'

She glanced to either side of her. Both demons were sound asleep. Wasting no time in slipping free from the sheets, she quickly and silently gathered her clothes from the floor. Not bothering with her tank top, she just threw on the skirt and sweater. Glancing over her shoulder as she made her way to the door, she froze as she saw Val watching her quietly. "...sleep well, Val. I'm sure I'll be back." Trying her best to sound sultry, she knew she failed. What's worse, she could tell that he could see the cracks forming in her armor. When he let his head fall back to his pillow and closed his eyes, she let out a careful breath before leaving his room.

"You're just going to let her go?"

"She doesn't work for me. She's...a fuckbuddy."

Vox smirked from where he lay in Val's arms. "I see. More competition."

"Shut the fuck up, Vox."

Walking down the street, her heels held in her hands, Kagome kept glancing over her shoulders. There was a shadow following her. Even though she knew there wasn't, it still felt like it. Now that her mind had locked onto a more than possible cause of death, she was feeling delirious with paranoia. "No one's even out right now. Why am I acting like someone's going to jump out from the shadows?"

"Hello there!"

"AHHHHH! AHHH—Mph! Mmm-mm-nm-mmmph!"

"My dear, I had no intention of hurting you."

Kagome's heart was racing a mile a minute. She was sure if she were still alive, she would have just been scared to death. Or stabbed repeatedly. She still wasn't completely sure she wouldn't be.

"I'm going to remove my hand, be a darling, and don't shout."

Waiting, shakingly, for his hand to drop. Kagome felt like she was breathing for the first time since she'd died. Cautiously, she turned around and came face to face with a demon who stood just a few inches taller than her. All the red, his wide red eyes against an alabaster complexion, had her taking a single step back. Just enough to put space between them. "S-sorry. I thought you were..." she stopped, not sure who she had been expecting. "I don't know, someone else."

The man smiled widely, "I see."He cleared his throat, the sound of a radio that had been scratching behind his every word since he'd appeared fizzled into a soft static sound in the background. "I don't mean to pry, but you seemed to be on edge. Not the kind of man to turn a blind eye to a troubled lady, may I at least walk you home?"

"You're...offering to walk me home? Oh," Kagome blushed, not sure how to react to this demon. "I, I live at the..." she stopped, 'wait! No! Not in the seven rings of Hell am I going to admit to living at the HAPPY Hotel.' Looking away awkwardly, she sighed, "I can get there myself. I appreciate your kindness, though. It's...refreshing, considering where we are."

"We're dead. That doesn't mean we need to act like barbarians from the stone age."

Kagome had started walking alongside the man in the red suit without realizing it. "You would think that." She turned a corner, "we're in Hell though. I literally just left the Overlord of fucking Lust's bedroom. The only difference between the living up there," she pointed up, "the dead down here," she gave a wave, "is that there's no regard for a moral compass. No lines to stay inside. No one to judge you if you don't." A pink shimmer formed faintly around her, though she didn't notice it. "I remember demons that fought to protect their loved ones, to do what was right regardless of what they were. When I was alive, those were the kind of friends I'd had... and then... I got older and made one shit-choice after another." She turned abruptly to face the demon. "How did you die?"

"Oh? What a personal question to ask, my dear. I fear we're not that close."

She smiled sadly, "I guess what I meant was. Do you remember?"

"Yes indeedy! It was a marvelous day, or so it started, haha!"

"I see. So you should be able to remember. Then, I wonder why I can't."

"Interesting," he leaned in low so that his eyes met hers, "have you not considered that the reason you can't remember how you died is that you don't want to?"

'Maybe... if I was murdered, would I really want to remember?'

"My dear," the sound of an old radio came back to his voice, "it's simple! You can always seek out your answers!" He laughed a little under his breath, "if you're prepared to pay the price for that knowledge."

"How do I do that?"

"Why there are numerous ways of finding out what happened to you up there, but the quickest way would be to go to the King himself." Glancing down at his nails, he brushed them along them against the collar of his coat.

"King? King of Hell? Because, of course, there would be a King of Hell." Shaking her head, Kagome smiled up at the demon, "come what may; I'm already dead. How I got here... it doesn't matter. Oh, but I'm kind of happy!"

"Oh?"

"I got to meet Angel and Cherri! To be honest, my biggest fear is probably loneliness. The very idea of being alone, of having no one to spend your life with, it's terrifying. Don't you think so?"

"... what a funny notion. I don't think there was ever a time where I was afraid of being alone."

"Never?"

"My dear, I'm never alone. Oh! But we've arrived, I believe, at your humble abode."

Looking around, Kagome cringed at the sight of the Hotel. "Crap,"

He chuckled, "until we meet again, My Lady~."

Blushing, Kagome turned around as the crackling of a radio changing stations buzzed throughout the air. However, when she faced the direction of the gentleman demon, he was already gone. 'Strange demon. I didn't even get his name...' She lingered for a few moments. Looking up at the crimson red sky, she held her hand up. There were no stars in Hell. A heart ached, thinking back to sunny days, traveling feudal japan with her friends, sleeping under the starry skies, and camping out together. "When did things go wrong?"

Her hand fell from the sky, and she stared down at it.

"Kag's?"

"...Angel..." her voice was soft, broken; she hadn't felt this confused since she got to Hell. Even then, she had never thought of or lingered on her past. What was done was done. So why now was she thinking about what couldn't be changed? "Do you ever think about your life before death?"

"Ah, when I first came to Hell, yeah." Coming up to Kagome, he pulled her up to the steps and sat down with her between his legs. Wrapping his arms early around her, he held Kagome while she silently contemplated her life in Hell. "You gotta go with the flow and remind yourself; things can't get any worse. You're already dead, right?"

"Maybe, but..." she sighed, shaking her head. She felt like screaming.

"Angel, Kagome! What are you two doing outside?"

"...stargazing."

Charlie looked up confused, looking down at Kagome, who was lying back in Angel's arms, her eyes locked on the starless sky; Charlie smiled. "I don't know about stars, but-" Charlie pointed her finger to the sky, a burst of energy shot out and lit up the sky in fireworks. She watched Kagome sit up. Her eyes lit up with each sparkle and blast of glitter above.

Smiling, she looked back at Charlie, "thank you."

"Seriously though," Vaggie stepped around Charlie, "what were you two doing out till dawn?"

"Sorry, mom, just know that I was not doing drugs..." Angel held his hand up as if a scout before their troupe leader.

"Yeah...and I was not sleeping with a Moth Pimp and his cute Television boyfriend."

"You slept with Valentino and Vox?" Angel laughed, "I'm sure Voxxie baby was excited, but Val doesn't normally like to share his toys."

Charlie cleared her throat but went unnoticed by the two.

"He'll share with me."

"Only cuz he's scared of you."

"...good." Kagome stood up, turning to face Angel; she smiled, "I'm tired. What's say we turn in for the rest of the night."

Vaggie was steaming, "wait just a minute! You both snuck out to do drugs or sleep around, whatever it was! That's going against the whole point of rehabilitation!"

"You know, you should have expected it wouldn't be easy." Kagome held her hand up, "but, moving forward, I'll do better. I'll... you know, actually try to rehabilitate. I mean, I don't think it'll change anything. I got sent down here for more than fucking around, but I can at least give it a solid shot."

Angel groaned, "...I... guess if my girl's gonna give it a real shot, I owe it to her not to leave her hangin'. I'll...try. Just not tonight. Let's go, Sugar-Tits~! My ass is achin', and I'm dying to get in some R and R before this shit gets real!"

Charlie smiled from beside Vaggie as she slipped her hand into Vaggie's. "This is good! Great! I don't know what happened tonight, but something must have clicked. See Vaggie, and you were worried they wouldn't come around~."

"We'll see."
