Jack loved skateboarding.

It was a beautiful sunny day outside, the sun shone relentlessly on the black belt as he rolled on his skateboard toward his new school for his second day. He was listening to a playlist made for him by Kim, he smiled at the thought.

The teenager put the hood of his black, hoodie over his head. He tried not to get noticed today, so he wore a black hoodie, black pants and white shoes. Discreet and simple. He didn't want to get any attention and didn't want to get in trouble like he almost did yesterday.

He still remembers the disappointed look his mom gave him when he had come home from school on his first day, back in Seaford. He hates disappointing his mom, and he doesn't want to add any more stress on her shoulders. She has enough stuff to deal with as it is. So he decided that today he was going to stay away from trouble and just focus on school.

He sighed as he entered the school, he walked to his locker and started putting his things away. He was looking for his history book when someone tapped him on his shoulder.

He turned around and a corner of his lips twitched into a smile when he saw who it was.

"Oh, hey man"

"Hey Jack!" Demetri greeted, grinning, "How have you been?"

"Fine, or I would've been if it wasn't for all the homework I got yesterday, I mean seriously, it was my first day and I got more homework than I probably ever did in any of my old schools" Jack replied, shaking his head and closing his locker.

"Aww, come on man, that's what makes school fun." He shot back jokingly. Jack rolled his eyes, chuckling

They walked down the hallway talking, when they were interrupted by the bell.

"What do you have first?" Demetri questioned, looking up at the teenager.

"History" Jack replied, sliding his hands in his pockets.

"I got biology, I'll see you at the cafeteria on lunch break, alright?" Demetri offered.

"Sounds good" The black belt said and made his way to history class.

As he walked inside the classroom and took a seat at the back of the room, he instantly felt a pair of eyes on him. He looked up and saw a guy with a mohawk boring his eyes into him.

Jack's brows rose. Who was this guy and why was he staring at him like that? He was pretty sure that he's never seen that guy before, he would've remembered meeting someone with a hair like that, that's for sure.

He shrugged and listened to the teacher, trying to forget about it. Except, it was pretty hard to forget, when he felt his burning gaze on him every now and then.

When the bell finally rung, Jack sighed in relief and walked quickly out of the classroom. That guy made him feel uneasy.

It was in the cafeteria when he saw the guy with the mohawk again. Jack was sitting next to Demetri when he felt eyes on him again. The teenager ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

"Do you know why that guy keeps staring at me" Jack asked Demetri, nodding his head to the direction of the table where the guy was sitting at.

Demetri looked up confused, However, his confusion quickly turned into a frown when he saw who it was.

"That's Eli, everyone calls him Hawk, he goes to the Cobra kai dojo." Demetri said, playing with his food.

Jack saw the nerdy teenager shoot a glance at Hawk, and by the look he was giving him, if they did know each other, they definitely didn't like each other.

"Do you think Kyler told his dojo about.. yesterday" Jack asked, running a hand down his face.

Demetri bit his lip, "Yeah.. that's probably what happened"

Jack sighed, "Anyone else I should know about?"

"Well... There's Robby, he's the top student of their dojo, he used to be one of the good guys, he used to be in Miyagi do, but-" He paused, debating if he should tell this.

"But, he and this other guy Miguel got into a big fight last year, here in this school. He broke Miguel's back, though I'm not sure if he did it on purpose. He got sent to Juvie and I don't know what happened in there, but something must've happened because as soon as he came back he joined Cobra Kai and is now on their side." Demetri finished, sighing.

Jack's mouth dropped slightly open. Wow. Looks like the feud between the dojos was serious.

"Damn, I don't know what to say to that, sounds like this whole thing is a lot more serious than I had thought"

Demetri leaned back in his chair and let out a deep sigh, "Oh you have no idea, that wasn't even the half of it"

Jack folded his napkin in half, "You know, I saw Miguel and his dojo practice Karate a few days ago, at the park, he looked.. well."

"Oh yeah, that's Eagle Fang the third dojo in town, Eagle fang is like Cobra Kai but less cruel. And yeah Miguel got better." A smile broke across Demetri's face.

Jack noticed, "Seems like you like this Miguel guy"

Demetri nodded, "Yeah, he's cool, we don't have a problem with Eagle Fang"

they fell into comfortable silence after that, both lost in their own thoughts.

Jack zoned out for the rest of the day. All he could think about was what Demetri told him. After school was over, he made his way to the nearby skate park.

A genuine smile crossed his face, as he skated down and up the ramps, skateboarding always managed to calm him down. It was relaxing. When he was skating he didn't think about his old friends in Seaford or his new school. The smooth sliding sound of the wheels soothed him.

He skated in every direction. Sometimes flying off the board in several rotations, other times sliding the bottom across the rim of the pool, making a satisfying squeaking sound.

He continued this for atleast an hour, when he got interrupted.

"New guy!" He heard a sharp yell come from behind him.

Jack skated off the upper lip of the pool and flipped up his board into his left hand. He whirled toward where the sound came from and frowned when he saw who it was.

Hawk, Kyler and Tory - Jack recognized her from the other day, the scary waitress - were walking towards him. He guessed they were all Cobra Kai.

Jack cursed under his breath, so much for not getting in trouble today. At least he's not in school property. He walked up to them, wary.

"What do you want?" Jack asked them as he got closer, his fingers tightening around his skateboard.

"We heard what you did to Kyler" Hawk sneered, looking him up and down, and stepped up closer to Jack so they were face to face.

Jack snorted and glanced at Kyler, who was glaring at him, "He got what he deserved"

Tory stood behind them. Truth to be told, she was impressed. The new guy didn't cower like most would in their presence, he stood his ground and remained calm. It was brave, brave and stupid.

"You think you're so good huh?" Kyler snarled and walked forward, he stood next to Hawk, "I say we teach him a lesson, we can't let him get away with this."

Jack shrugged, "Get away with what, defending myself? It's not my fault you don't know how to fight."

"Oh yeah? I wasn't the one who ran away like a little bitch" Kyler shot back, fists clenched.

"How's your wrist?" Jack simply replied, a small smirk forming on his lips. Kyler's face contorted in fury.

"So you know Karate huh?" Tory chimed in, before Kyler could open his mouth. During their talk Hawk had stepped back and stood next to Tory now. They had both watched, intrigued by the new guy.

Jack's eyes snapped to her in surprise, and he shrugged, "A little bit."

"You should join our dojo, It's the best in town." Tory offered, she saw Hawk's and Kyler's eyes widen in disbelief but she ignored them. This guy was something else, she could tell. They needed someone like him to win the All Valley tournament.

Jack couldn't hide his shock. They invited him to join their dojo after he had humiliated their friend. He sure as hell wasn't about to accept that offer though. He promised himself he wasn't going to join any dojos anytime soon. Karate was a painful reminder of his old home. Besides, he hadn't forgotten what Demetri told him.

But should he tell them that? He bit his lip, he had a feeling they weren't going to take his rejection kindly.

Hawk scoffed impatiently, "Well?"

Jack looked up at them. "Give me some time to think about it." He finally said, straightening up.

Tory nodded.

Kyler let out a loud laugh and looked at Tory and Hawk in disbelief, "Are we seriously going to let this clown join, how do we even know if he's good enough?" He spat, pointing his finger at Jack.

"Good enough? I'm surprised your dojo has a skill requirement at all, considering you're in it" Jack quipped, before he could stop himself. This Kyler guy was getting on his nerves.

Tory stifled a laugh. Jack noticed and winked at her. Her smile instantly vanished and she rolled her eyes.

"Think about it then and let us know tomorrow" Tory said, nodding, and started walking away, the other two following her.

Jack let out a sigh of relief, well that went better than he expected. He made his way home wondering how he was going to get out of this one. He had a feeling they wouldn't take a no for an answer.
