"Shit..." Kagome muttered under her breath, sliding her cards away from her as the dealer swept them up. It was her loss this time, though she won before.

"Hey Kas," Vox leaned over her shoulder, "I'm gonna grab a drink from the bar, want something?"

She gave a small shake of her head, "no, I'm alright." The last few times she'd ended up plastered or doped up had shown her memories that had turned nightmare fast. She wasn't ready to dive into such dark thoughts again so quickly. Catching two cards as they slid her way, she lifted them just enough to see what it was she had. "Hit me," Catching the next card as it slid across the table; she did well zoning out the rest of the players. Val had told her not to let anyone get inside her head. Just...Play like she had nothing to lose. Besides, it was Vox's money. Val refused to lend her anything that might put him in debt.

"Hit me,"

The voice from her left called out, but her eyes followed Vox's fingers as they trailed away from her shoulder. Once they were no longer there, she returned her attention to her cards. Or, more specifically, the people she'd been playing with. There was one guy who'd been a constant thorn in her side since she started playing Blackjack at this Casino. Glancing to her left, Kagome smiled, "have you been sitting there this whole time?"

"Heh heh, someone hose this bitch down," he chuckled before pushing a large stack of chips forward, "stand, all in." Holding a hand up, he took a cold beer as it was handed to him by a waitress with three eyes flickering to and fro around the room.

"Name-calling? How tribal," Kagome met the dealer's eyes, "he's feeling good about his hand. What do you think I should do?"

The dealer smirked, but he didn't say anything. Since the start, they'd been at each other's throats, and he didn't foresee it ending anytime soon.

She peered down at her cards, not lifting them. She knew her hand. Placing a hand down on her tower of chips, she pushed all of them forward. It was so satisfying watching them tumble into the center of the table. "I'll stand, all in."

"The big reveal," the dealer held his hand out for Kagome.

"A perfect twenty-one." She flipped her cards and smiled, proud of herself. The demon beside her stood up, lifting his cards as he did. Kagome watched a red shimmer begin to glow around him before he vanished without a word. It was quiet. She felt fingers slip up along her shoulders. The hand on her shoulder gave her a tight squeeze. Knowing it to be Val's, she didn't move to brush it off the way she normally would. "...does that mean he forfeits?"

"The pot goes to you."

Kagome smiled, "great! Good game, everyone." Standing, she made to call it quits. The dealer reached across and placed his hand on hers. Looking down at her hand, the smile she'd been wearing grew small, tight, and constrained. "Did you need something?"

"Surely you aren't done playing. How about another game?"

Valentino dropped his hand from Kagome's shoulder as she nudged it off. The chandelier above seemed to radiate a new type of heat as her tail whipped about dangerously behind her. With a cold glare at the clawed hand touching her red flushed fingers, she turned her eyes back up to the demon. Straightening, she gave him a chilling smirk. It happened so quickly no one saw it coming. Her tail snapped out and pierced his hand with barely a whistle in the air.

She listened to him scream out in agony. Dipping her finger into the pooling blood on the table as he dragged his hand back away from her, a thin line of blood trailing after. Kagome stepped slowly, meaningfully, around the table. Reaching her free hand up, she slipped it into his black hair, tightly gripping it as she yanked his head back. Kagome trailed her blood dipped finger across his lips, painting them red with his blood. Kagome laughed under her breath. What an interesting concept; something in Hell, supposedly dead, could still bleed. Her hair fell over her shoulders as she met his eyes, eyes filled with fear. "Did you still want to play another game?"

He shook his head, bending further away from her as he tried to put distance between them.

Kagome gave a nod, "very good. As the saying goes." She let him drop away from her. He crumpled completely to the floor in pain as she walked away. "Best to stop while you're still on top. I'm cashing out." Picking up a red chip, she smiled. Spinning around, she looked into Val's eyes for a brief moment before turning to Vox, who was still laughing at the dealer's state. Kagome lifted a hand to Vox's suit jacket, slipping the red chip into his front pocket before slipping between the two and walking off. Her tail flicked dangerously back and forth, looking for another taste of blood. This... was the first time she'd done something like this. Hurting someone the way she had. Nothing like the lesson she'd imparted on Val. It was different. It was... delicious. Whipping her tail out, the lingering blood splattered across an unsuspecting demon.

"What the fuck? Watch it, fucking cock tease."

"What was that assface," Kagome smirked when the Donkey demon balked at her, enraged by the insult. He took a swing at her, and for whatever reason, Kagome decided he wasn't worth the time. "All the dumb ones seem to be out tonight." Despite how out of character it was for her, at the moment, it was the most in-character thing to do. Holding her hand out, it brightly shimmered with her pink energy. Catching his fist as it came at her, there was a fizzling sound that whispered in her ear. Watching with fascination as burnt flesh became more and more prominent, she leaned forward and gave a small sniff of the air. "What is that horrible stench?" She cringed dramatically, locking eyes with the demon that had been brought to their knees, "oh...it's you." Kagome let go, another demon cowering on the floor at her feet. Her tongue slipped out and traced along her lips. What a wonderful feeling. Turning around, she locked her eyes with Val's, having felt his and Voxxie's eyes on her. "Until next time, boys."

Kagome stepped over the crippled demon. Swaying her hips playfully as she released a tremor of her energy, sending waves of warnings throughout the Casino and down the streets. She didn't stop this until she was a few blocks away from the Hotel. This was her only warning. Her only warning. Even as she let off such a warning, she couldn't be sure of who it was she was warding off. However, she could say with confidence who it was that she was trying to protect. Looking up at the Hotel, she smiled lazily at the superfluous building. A hotel to save demons. She wondered if it was actually possible or if it would end a lost cause, but she would protect her precious friends no matter what the answer.

She stopped and looked curiously at the side of the Hotel; a large hole occupied a good portion of the wall. "...I missed something today."

Angel felt his bed dip. Instinctively he opened his arms, feeling Kagome curl up into them. "Turning in a bit late, ain't ya Tits?" He squinted his eyes and glanced at the blurry clock, "what time is it?"

"Somewhere around two in the morning, almost three...maybe?" Kagome barely managed to mutter out the last word before she drifted off into a comfortable sleep.

A familiar scent tickled Angel's nose. The cigarettes that Val used. It wasn't like he had a problem with her sleeping around with Val. He'd messed around with his boss plenty of times himself. Angel just found himself hoping to whatever god there was that she didn't end up fucked over the same way he did. Metaphorically speaking, that is.

Falling back to sleep, Angel enjoyed the visions of putting on shows in a high society club. It was silly, perhaps, but it was just a dream. One of his hands ran across Nugget, smiling as he drifted off to sleep. He was looking forward to sleeping in.

(Not Even Three Hours Later)

BOOM!

Casinos good, explosions bad. Kagome shot up like a bolt, Angel mirroring the action next to her. Nugget was running around the floor in fright as the sound of a loud explosion tore through the air, rattling them awake. "What the fuck!?"

"Don't get me lyin'!" Angel swung his legs over the edge of his bed. Dressed in a baggy pink sweatshirt and shorts, he moved towards the door. Throwing it open, he peered out to see what was causing the sporadic explosions.

Kagome crawled across their bed, watching the demon piglet run laps around the room; she reached out to catch it. Squealing as she was pulled off her bed by the pig's sheer rush of energy. "Ack! Wait, wait, wait! Nuuuugget!" Laughing from where she now laid on the ground, she turned her cheek away from the playful licks of the piglet demon. Standing up, she lifted the pig into her arms. Moving over to Angel, she threw her arms over his shoulders, raising a brow as she watched an energetic ball of demon tunnel past their door into another room next to the one they were in. "What was that?"

"This Little Darling is Niffty!"

"Little Darling?"

Angel laughed, "I'm just repeatin' the shit I was told last night. Oh, it's been such a long time since you and I have had a day to ourselves," turning in her arms, he lifted Kagome and laughed when her legs wrapped around her. "Let's make some noise, baby!"

Charlie looked up as Angel came downstairs with Kagome holding onto him as he carried her on his back. "Oh, Kagome! You're here! Have you met Niffty, Alastor, and Husk?" When Kagome shook her head, Charlie was burning with excitement. "Oooooh! Let me introduce you!"

"Is Husk even awake?" Angel cocked his hip, not interested in placing Kagome down.

"We can wake him!"

"Let them sleep if they're still asleep. Besides, I think I saw Niffty this morning. The... uh... Little Darling?"

"Goooood Morning, everyone! I hope everybody had a lovely night's sleep. We've got a lot to do today and...I see we have a new face this morning."

"AL! Good Morning!" Charlie ran past Kagome and took the demon's hand, pulling him forward to meet the last of her projects. "This is—"

"Kagome!" Jumping off of Angel's back, she leaned on him before holding her hand out. She met his red eyes and grinned, watching him as he walked up to her and took her hand. He locked eyes with her before pulling his fingers enough to take hers, bringing her knuckle to his lips and placing a soft kiss on her hand. "Alastor, right?"

"That is so, and might I just add, Kagome is an absolutely beautiful and curiously enlivened name."

"That's because it's my name from when I was alive. I'm very attached. However, if you would prefer, most demons call me Kas."

Shaking his head, he gave a crackled laugh, "I think not, my dear! Kagome is such a charming name, and I will happily use it! Niffty~" He called, letting Kagome's hand slip free from his.

Niffty burled through the hotel with a duster in hand. "There's so much dust upstairs. I cleaned out most of the rooms, but I still haven't gotten to—OH! Did you know there's a huge dance hall? I finished cleaning it up this morning, and there's even an old Gramophone in there! It's so pretty!" She swirled past Kagome and swept a few bits of dirt at the doorway of the hotel. "The floors are all polished now, and the walls have been cleaned up all sparkly!"

"Wonderful, wonderful," Alastor smiled, "I think I'd like to see this dance hall. A fine place to start, as it will be what brings our guests in!"

"Actually, our guests are all troubled demons that need to be rehabilitated. What brings them in isn't the dance hall."

Kagome watched as Vaggie walked in; a bag was held in her hand as she tossed it to the floor. "Who'd you kill?"

"No one, yet. This is a bunch of things that need to be tossed out, pictures, statues, and other things."

Angel grinned and pulled the bag aside, "ooh la la! Who is this handsome and delicious-looking demon of asparagus?"

"Asparagus?" Vaggie looked at the photo before grinning, "maybe you and I do have something in common."

"Scary thought." Tossing the photo back in the bag, he pulled out another and laughed, "I see, Charlie's ex-man. So this was your type? Heh, I'd fuck em'. No wonder you're with this doll. You're a vegetarian!"

Kagome laughed, smacking Angel upside the head. "Listen, I've got no plans today. Is there anything I can do to help?"

Charlie, ignoring the jabs at herself and Vaggie, turned in excitement to Kagome, who was seldom around, "you want to help?" Pushing past Alastor, her smile only grew, "we can find something for you to do! Oh, this will be great! We can all pitch in and turn this Hotel into something extraordinary!"
